  1. No no, sure..I didn't mean to compare them as players but to stress the importance of route running applied to speed.

We all know that if being fast was everything, any tracker could play WR and run fly's all day long..

He's not meant to catch tons of bubble screens or hitches, but he can definitely work on the tree and make it harder for CBs to cover.

Yea he's definitely not an elite YAC guy that's another thing he needs to work on but I think trestman will do well with him, I mean he did wonders with Alshon Jeffery and his route running ability was very limited.

  2. As I stated in the previous thread, I wasn't excited last night.. I had already watched every UCF game available on youtube and today I started to watch the 2013 season.

I think he's a humble guy, with good work ethic and has great radius..

However I still don't see him worth a 1st round pick, and I'm sorry for it coz of course I always wish my team the best, but can't lie to myself.

    1) you're implicitly suggesting that the recorded 40s translate into game-speed... I didn't see him beating so many players at the top of his route to justify those numbers..

Also, speed without suddenness means few.. look at the separation that Dorsett (like Lockett, McBride) gains; you won't find it in our guy's tapes unless he's facing zone coverage.

    2) going up for the ball can't be considered a 'physical' skill, but purely athletic..

Infact, you don't see him working with his hands and body to gain a better position on the DB, because he relies on his passes being overthrown.

You line up a good, physical, press-man (like Nelson) against him, that makes early contact and Breshad is just not allowed to accelerate.

Not hating or trying to down the mood.. just being honest and realistic, using tapes and setting the eyes on every move.

He's a good receiver, with great potential, but my feeling is that there was no WR, nor CB worth that pick and we reached a bit.. that makes me a little skeptical on this pick.

Howevever, I hope he'll be able to work on his routes and become one awesome player.. wish him nothing but the best. ;)

I agree for the most part but I don't think you can really compare perriman with the likes of Dorsett Lockett and mcbride those guys are smaller and more shifty, not to mention Lockett is one of the best route runners in the draft.

  3. I'm not sure if this warrants a new thread but it seems like the other one was nothing but people bashing, and I'll admit I was one of them, but after cooling down a bit I decided to re-review Perriman and go re-watch some tape of him and here's what I saw:

    The Good:

    A++ Size/speed (obviously).

I was quick to say his hands were awful and he had some bad drops but I believe his hands are already more developed than Torrey smith's he already catches the ball with his hands which is more than Torrey did coming out.

And while his routes need work(not much worse than jaelen strong) he still runs a more complex route tree than Devin smith.

He's is more physical than Torrey is he can go up and get it and make tough catches at times.

Another note would be his QB last year was awful, he under threw him on multiple occasions.

We saw a run on wideouts in the late first round and I believe it's going to carry over into the second round leaving any chance to get a WR in the second very slim if we didn't take perriman.

All in all I was quick to label Perriman, mostly due to the fact I believed there were better players on the board but that's just my opinion and I fully trust Ozzie even with his wideout track record, I'm gonna hold anymore bad judgement agaisnst Perriman until I see him play and I urge others to do the same, he needs quite a bit of work but if our staff can develop him he has #1 potential, he's not just a Torrey smith clone.

  4. it would be a no brainer to bring in harvin at the right price , hes a upgrade not only over jacoby but torrey aswell IMO

Torrey is way better than harvin. Harvin has had 3 chances with different teams and couldn't really produce as a true reciever with any of them.

  5. For Peyton Manning, it's either retire and leave $19M on the table or return and take a pay cut. There is increasing talk in Denver that Peyton may have to take a pay cut in order to return. A paycut by Peyton would help the Broncos give the franchise tag to either Thomas' but would Peyton just outright retire if asked to take a pay cut?

Maybe he'll just move on to another team for a year or 2 I keep seeing reports saying Peyton is all in on another season but it seems the Broncos are hesitant, I'd be kinda scared if he chose to play for another team because I could see the Browns making a major push for him.

  6. Gotta be realistic.  He's an ILB in the 3-4 through and through, and even that isn't going all that well.

I completely understand what your saying he's done nothing to this point. Just curious what do you think the Ravens should do with him keep developing him as D smiths replacement or just cut ties and try and trade him or something?

  7. Regardless of what he is, that's not big enough to get a consistent pass rush from the edge or LOS.  He may not be 220, but even at 230-235, he's not big enough for that type of role.

I don't mean to argue this much lol. But how can you say what he can or can't do when he has had no playing time what so ever? Sure he could be too light to be in that role he could even be a huge bust, but there is always players that defy the odds against them whether it be size speed or strength, basically im trying to say give him a chance before labeling him.

  8. Then that is not the role McPhee was in.  McPhee did his damage from the interior.

Mcphee did his damage all across the line. Like I said before though I'm not saying Arthur would replace mcphee, just help replace his production being a situational move pass rusher by playing to Arthur's strengths not mcphee's strengths. They are 2 completely different players arthur is never going to line up at De or Nt, but I believe he can rush the passer in his own way.

  9. He's not going to have success.  Lining up a 220 pound LB on the line against a 300+ pound OL at the LOS is not going to work.  It doesn't work that way.  If he's widely considered to be too small to play ILB in the 3-4, there's literally not even a shred of possibility that he can play in the trenches.

I still don't think your understanding what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying put him right on the LOS against a guard or something, maybe put him off the LOS and bring him in on some delayed blitzes and such to take advantage of his speed. And Daryl Washington and Mychal Kendricks seem to do fine rushing from the ILB position even though they are in the 230lbs range.

  10. McPhee is 270+ lbs.  Brown is 220-230 lbs.  Huge difference there.

I am aware of that, I'm not trying to say he's gonna be a McPhee clone im just saying he was a good blitzer in college why not give hime a chance in a similar role? i mean there is little to no chance we re-sign McPhee so we're gonna have to find someone to help replace his production anyway, I am in no way saying hes guaranteed to have success in that role im just trying to make a suggestion instead of labeling Brown a Bust already.

  11. He doesn't have the weight to stick consistently at ILB.  There's literally 0 possibility he could play with his hand in the dirt.

I'm not saying put him at DE, just use him as a move pass rusher kinda like McPhee, mcphee often blitzed right up the middle off the LOS, I don't see why Arthur couldn't do that.

  12. I hope Arthur gets a chance this year, it's unfortunate that he's stuck behind two really good linebackers, but seeing how McPhee is probably gone this year why not give Brown a chance to be a situational blitzer? He's not a natural pass rusher like McPhee but he looked pretty good blitzing up the middle in college, he's got great speed, I think we should give him a chance in preseason to come in like McPhee and be the guy they can move all over the line, and unlike McPhee, brown can cover well so that just opens up more possibilities for pees to utilize
