  1. He's one of my favs aswell plus I love that he was a walk on, usually means they have a good work ethic, I still think depending on the combine, we could grab him with one of our 4th rounders, also he's bulked up to 247lbs already, depending on what we'd ask him to do I think he's good where he's at.
  2. I like Buckner better but Bosa is still a top talent at a position of need, I think if it came down to both we'd go Bosa.
  3. Per NFL.COM, Jack has been training for the combine drills but didn't get medical clearance so he will only do interviews, medical checks and the bench press, not a huge deal considering everyone knows he's a great athlete, I'm more interested in what he weighs I would hope he'd be at least 235lbs if not more.
  4. I think Montese Overton the LB from ECU is gonna light up the combine and I actually wouldn't mind if the Ravens drafted him, he's a little undersized at 6'3" 221lbs but if he could just get to around Mosely's weight (235lbs) I think he could help us, he's not just a workout warrior though because when you watch the tape, he blazes around the field really one of the fastest LBs I've seen and looks pretty versatile too as he lined up at LB off and on the LOS and in the slot. He supposedly ran 4.3 in the 40 at school usually those numbers are a little exaggerated, but I'd wouldn't be suprised if he ran somewhere in the 4.4s
  5. Gonna have to disagree on that, Weddle was a really good athlete coming out of college with 4.48 40 and 1.43 10 yard split which I think is one of, if not the best in combine history, I'm not trying to knock Thompson because I like him okay, but he's not the athlete Weddle was or is right now.
  6. I think move to a Tampa 2 or 4-3 would open things up a bit more, it seems 4-3 players are easier to find these days, I'm noticing more and more undersized and athletic LBs and DTs, but think if we were to switch, we'd be better off going with a base 4-3, we don't have enough speed to play a Tampa 2 plus Jimmy smith is more of a man cover corner so putting him in a zone heavy scheme wouldn't be the best fit.
  7. Makes sense, considering the Browns are almost guaranteed to take a QB and it seems like Goff is still the top guy, it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see the 9ers trade to #1 for Goff if chip doesn't think Kap is his guy, or maybe the Browns pull the same thing they did for Richardson and trade up to #1 just to make sure they get Goff.
  8. Call me crazy but id rather try to grab Kevin Byard in the 4th or 5th than Darian Thompson in the 2nd, Byard looks the part of a deep roaming safety and ball hawk, similar to Thompson, he's not a great athlete but makes up for it with his instincts and recognition. He could be a real sleeper and with him not being invited to the combine that might actually help us if we want him in the later rounds.
  9. Look at someone like Eli Harold from last year and you'll see a big difference in first step and acceleration from Calhoun.
  10. Most of this is true, I'll say this though I think his snap anticipation is inconsistent but I think he could be a good #2 pass rusher, more of a Paul Kruger rather than Suggs if you know what I mean, and FWIW it seems he's slower off the line during run downs, almost like he's phoning it in IMO, on obvious pass downs he usually gets a pretty good first step off.
  11. I think our tight ends can help us in the redzone, along with Buck Allen who I think can be a sneaky good redzone guy as a receiver, we need to just add a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd. I still don't think Treadwell is worth it at 6. We have a desperate need on defense, it's proven every year that defense continues to be the biggest factor to SB winners.
  12. Agree with a lot of this, I'm a fan of Higgins like you said he's not a perfect route runner but he's got some other little nuances down that makes me think he can develop into a good player. Plus he did all this out of a pro style offense that looks similar to trestmans scheme.
  13. Id be open to it, yes he has character concerns and he's also a project on the field aswell, but developing D-lineman is something we do best, and Nkemdiche is a Warren Sapp type athlete, if he panned out he has all the tools to be the best DT/DE in the league. And it's funny because I'm not even a big fan of his but in the second, the potential is insane.
  14. I like Thompson but i I kinda see him as a mid 2nd round guy, it's kinda funny this is the first time in years we get a high draft pick and everyone is enamored with mid round guys like Alexander in the first and Thompson in the second. I think it's more likely we'll be grabbing a higher rated guy who falls out of the first round.
  15. Yeah but when I say draft 3 DBs I'm thinking at least one of them in the fifth round or later, put em through camp if they impress, keep him if not, cut him. We just need fresh blood sure we already have a ton of safeties and CB's but Will Hill is the only one that's shown anything in the past 2 years and right now our only capable CB is Jimmy, Wright looked good the final half of the season but he's a FA and who says keeps playing well? To me this is very similar to our WR woes of the past few years, we fail to address the position because we think we're stacked when in reality we just have a bunch of below average guys.
  16. I've always been a fan of Hargreaves and I would love it if Brothers made it to us in the 3rd and I was glad to see he bulked up to 250lbs, he could be a real enforcer in the defense, still not sure about him in man coverage because he does have some limits athletically but our run defense would be incredible.
  17. Key word there is "try" yes we will probably try to re-sign KO but he'll probably get overpaid elsewhere, so if we just re-sign Tucker, restructure Joe's contract and maybe Webb's if possible, cut Canty we get about 2mil of saving if we give up on Arrington that's another 1.5 mil Weddle will probably be in the 6-7mil a year range I sure if we really wanted to, Ozzie could find a way to fit him in under the cap. Gipson will probably get a big contract but who knows he wasn't great this season, Branch will probably be the cheapest option and he'd be a welcome addition IMO.
  18. I like this draft,im actually a fan of Fuller's, its not often you find a guy with elite explosion start/stop ability along with elite deep speed usually it's one or the other, but he's a body catcher and frankly has horrible hands he led the league in drops on deep passes and total drops the last 2 seasons that's a huge concern for me, not to mention he kinda looks like he has alligator arms.
  19. If we dont address our secondary I think we're gonna repeat the last two seasons eventually playing with practiced squaders, we need to clear some cap space and really go after some guys, I say grab at least 2 DBs in FA there's some decent safeties that might not be too expensive with Weddle, Tashaun Gipson or maybe Tyvon Branch. We also need to draft at least 3 DBs (2 CBs 1S) if were gonna be stuck playing with backup players I'd at least like them to be ours instead of having to pluck them from someone else's PS.
  20. I'm a big fan of his play, but the fact that he didn't produce at all until his junior season kinda scares me, he only had 3 catches as a freshman in 2012 but then red shirted in 2013 apparently because he struggled to pick up the play book. That may not mean much in the long run, but you have to wonder if he can really step in immediately and play well. also he's already got a borderline 1st round grade and you said it yourself he'll probably rise after his workouts putting him out of reach in the second.
  21. I don't think either would present good value at #3, and if Rivers is really considering retirement they'd be better off drafting a QB and having at least a year to develop him.
  22. Thats true, Bosa had more help around him than almost anyone in recent memory with Michael Bennett, Adolphus Washington, Darron Lee, Hubbard, Lewis etc and a great secondary, but my whole point of comparing Spence to other top ten guys like Suggs and Miller was that they didn't have really any help either Suggs had 24 sacks and Miller had 17 in 2009 with no great help around them.
  23. If we're ignoring red flags I still see Buckner as a better prospects, I like Spence but he still has a lot of red flags for me. I don't really see the speed and power your talking about he's got above average speed but he lacks power IMO. And I hate to use production as an excuse for a prospect but he didn't exactly set the world on fire even with the lower competition he faced 11.5 sacks isn't terrible but when you look at guys like Suggs and Von Miller coming out, they absolutely dominated, they truly warranted top 10 status and right now I don't see that with Spence I'd love it if we traded back into the first round for him or if he fell to the second though.
  24. How many renowned trainers who actually have trained with Suggs this offseason have you spoke to? Or are you just talking to guys who work at GNC?
  25. I think sometimes we give GMs way too much credit, implying that they are too professional to be over influenced by combine numbers, I just don't think that's the case, I think they get enamored with the size and/or speed guys who put up monster numbers just like a lot of us do, like some said above Byron Jones may not have been a first rounder without the combine but it gave him a chance to showcase elite athleticism, and his tape backed it up because he looked like a true shutdown corner in college before his injury.
