Im not saying that though. I'm saying they should've played him at LG.
21 minutes ago, usmccharles said:Even if he did, you want to bet on the future of our oline on one game?
It be better than none, though I'd rather see him at LG; Wagner has to be resigned before Williams gets an offer.
The fact that they only time they had Lewis out on the field was for a trick play is simply bad coaching. Completely squandered an opportunity to evaluate him a little bit.
O-line needs to be:
Stanley-Lewis-rookie-Yanda-Wagner
if we want to compete next year.
Wagner needs to be the top priority.
With a WR, pass rush and CB we can win a bunch of these.
Everyone saying "consistency" doesn't understand the reality of the situation.
Marty was using Trestman's playbook and system all season. Now that he has a whole offseason he's scraping the whole system to install his own. This isn't consistency at all. This is essentially us getting a new coordinator who we already know will abandon the run...
Unless we can get someone like Dennison back as QB coach expect Joe to keep regressing.
I'll say this. ON PAPER we have the potential to have a really good defense. There are only two real holes in the unit, those being #2 CB and pass rusher. If we could just address those positions we'd have an elite squad.
Now look at offense and you'll see that the position of WR and C are DESPERATELY needed. Luckily, those two positions can be settled in lower rounds and FA as opposed to Pass rusher and CB which are RARELY found in FA and lower rounds.

Of course we know that's easier said than done, but that's really the focal point of what the Ravens will want to do with their defense. Some people underestimate what losing Jimmy means to this team.
When it comes to the offense, you have no idea what's going on. You had quality WRs, an OL that while banged up some is still better than most in the league, sorry but a 5 man front of Stanley(Who was a monster these past weeks)-Lewis(Played well)-Zuttah(Had his ups and downs)-Yanda(All-Pro)-Wagner(Beast) under-preformed and should have fared way better than what we saw. The run game showed flashes and should have done better. As far as the TEs go, a massive disappointment. Pitta's comeback was nice to see but others struggled to stay healthy, and when healthy they just didn't look like they have improved much, failing to separate, find soft spots in defenses and chemistry with Joe, just did not look like they made a jump at all.
Once we install a new OC and fire Castillo to go back to a zone blocking scheme I expect the offense to immediately get better. Hell, we've got a damn good rookie LT, a hall of fame RG, and a good RT. Depending on how good Lewis will be and if we get a good center we should have an elite line.

Solomon Thomas>Lawson
Might even take a WR over Lawson if Davis or Williams is there.
We need to settle the Defensive coordinator position ASAP. Mario Williams got cut, he'd be a semi-cheap sign at this point. His careers had some bumps in production. Maybe he's built for a 3-4?...
Looks like they were trying to ease in him or something. Almost as if they thought there were more games to be played after this... But since there isn't I don't know why they didn't just keep him out.
I can't think of anything. Coaches.
For whatever reason, it’s hard to put your finger on it, our emotional level was not where it’s been in the past, and I think that has a lot to do with what happened last week,” Harbaugh said. “Our guys came back and really worked hard. They didn’t sulk, they didn’t pout, they came to work.
You REALLY don't know why Harbs? We have no leadership, something you should be doing.

That's Cill for you. He speaks in absolutes and certainties, yet comes off like he's watched exactly 0 snaps of said player.
Ironically, this statement is in itself an absolute and certainty. Get outta here Obi Wan.
1 hour ago, allblackraven said:Is that the assessment based on how Williams looks like?
Because it sure does seem like you watched exactly zero of his games.
Pretty sure I was one of the first people to even talk about Williams, I was talking about him as one of the dudes to watch. He's a pass rusher first and foremost. He's the weakest run defender in that line, albeit it is probably the top D-line in football, which makes me a little more concerned. Plus the fact that he was dumb enough to get a gun charge is odd, I thought we were complaining about Harbaugh keeping dumb players, this forum changes its mind every other week on the that though so who knows...
Dream scenario: mega trade to move up from #16 to get Jonathan Allen or Myles.
Realistic scenario: we stay at #16 and take McDowell.
Pretty self explanatory. Make a dream prediction and then realistic one.
I forgot Leslie Frazier was even here. That Tampa defense is weird, not sure if we even have the personnel for it.
Mike McCoy makes George Bush look lik Bernie Sanders. We don't need ANOTHER conservative west coast offense.
Just now, hn68wb4 said:I just noticed that Chip Kelly was also officially fired today, would he be a bad choice? All of the stuff we've tagged him with since coming to the NFL hasn't been the case, i.e. his offense needing a mobile QB, since coming up from Oregon he's done best with pocket passers, I mean his best season was with Nick Foles. I'm not pulling for Chip to come here, to be entirely honest I've thought he was overrated as a coach from the start - though I think we can all agree that he wasn't given a fair shot in San Fran - but I think he'd fit better as an offensive coordinator for us than some would admit, it really seems like Flacco does best when we do the 2 minute offense with plenty of hurry up, for some reason that's when Flacco looks to be the most comfortable. Chip would definitely bring that.
I don't know, I'm not getting my hopes up for anyone, I'm not going to be disappointed when we make a hire like some will be because I'm keeping my expectations low. I'm just trying to bring up other names other than the ones being named here ad nauseam like McCoy, whom I'd love to have personally.
He alienates players and his "look at me, I'm a genius" offense has not worked in the nfl.
Are we all in agreement that Lewis should return to LG and that Wagner should be retained? If so, I think we have a really good template, all we gotta do is add a GOOD center and we'll be really good on that front.
Rather not take Tim Williams, dude looks like he'll be zero help against the run. I'd rather not spend our second highest pick since 2006 on a skinny Elvis Dumervil. Harris or Barnett would be pretty cool though.
Stanley was quietly REALLY good this month. Looks like we got a franchise LT. That and a serviceable QB are the most important positions in football. If we upgrade our center we should have a really good O-line next season. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Hard thing about pass rushers is that they are as hard to find as QB's, in free agency. The only real way to get them is via draft.
we're going to give our next coordinator at least 3 seasons(unless he's terrible). We won't hire new coordinators and then fire Harba the very next season. We either fire him now or he's here for a while.
The best OC will be Dennison.
Best HC will be Payton or McDaniels.

From everything that people see in him I doubt he's there at #16.
