  1. Man... Ray could be sending a lot of other messages.... WHat is he saying? To believe in yourself, to work hard, to trust God, to live right.... and good things will happen in your life. He is acknowledging that their is a power greater then himself and that Jesus Christ is the influence n his life that changed him from all those things he was accused of and involved with... to who he became... a leader of men! One of the greatest motivators we know. This is what worked for him.... and he is sharing it! In a day and age where a lot of these young guys in the NFL are going in a wrong direction... who are hearing a lot of wrong messages... What is wrong with Ray acknowledging what changed him? These are grown men... if they don't believe the same they don't have to. He is not threatening to hurt them if they don't. He is just saying... this is what made a drastic change for him. Made his life drastically different. When you find something good - you share it. It amazes me how many people knock him for sharing a life that has been dramatically changed and the reason for it? IDK... even if someone don't believe the same... cant they respect the fact that this is what worked for him? Something brought change in his life? and it was dramatic. WHy not acknowledge it. Not everyone has to agree or accept what he attributes it to... but he does attribute it to Jesus Christ. Who can argue that? Maybe it don't apply to your life but he has the right to speak about what happened in his life! If people agree to disagree that is their choice but saying that he shouldn't discuss his views or share his beliefs... that is hypocritical. BC when someone says he shouldn't they are assuming they have the right to share their beliefs (that he shouldn't). IF we can get on here and share our beleifs whey does he not have the right to do the same?

Again, Ray is an unbelievable motivator and is inspiring to hear. But do you actually understand what he was saying with Jacoby Jones by the Super Bowl? You mention very positive qualities but if your best friend came and told you that God spoke to him and told him to place his hands on you and you would get offered an amazing job - I believe you would question his sanity lol. And again, I believe there was an article stating that Joe Flacco said something to the effect of that he was inspired by Ray Lewis but never understood what he was saying

  2. He's a tough sell to people who aren't religious, as well as people who can't get past the fact that he was at least involved in a murder.

I will say that often a lot of his "preaching" and constant bringing of religion into a non-religious area gets quite annoying at some moments, almost as if he is taking credit away from people (the one's actually performing) and giving it to a religious figure.

He's a smart man who knows a lot about football, but I wouldn't say he's great on TV.

Insightful post. For me, it's not the religious aspect as much as I just don't understand what he is talking about like at all. He is a powerful and charismatic figure that can inspire others because he has a strong sense of self-confidence. But I get the feeling (this is true by with me) that people will get amped up by what he said but not understand what his actual words mean. I think Flacco said something to this effect.

  3. I'm sorry - I love Ray Lewis. Great player and great leader. But some of his interviews and videos (especially in recent years) make me think that he has a couple of screws loose. Does anyone know what he was saying in that video? God tells him to put his hands on Jacoby Jones which then imbues Jacoby with the power to score a touchdown off of a kick-off return? So he's like God's Touchdown Agent? Love you Ray but I don't always understand what you're saying

  4. Although usually I am a fan of Terrell Suggs shenanigans - I wouldn't be shocked if he has been grating on his teammates nerves throughout training camp. It's one thing to be exhorting your teammates and motivating them when you yourself are displaying the same energy and passion. However, he showed up to training camp not in excellent football shape and doesn't seem to be displaying the same passion that tells his teammates to have. I understand that he might be "saving himself" for when the real season starts but I feel like if someone like Steve Smith (or Ray Lewis if he were still playing) were saying it it would be much more motivating. They are the epitomy of toughness and heart.

  5. 1. I didn't compare careers, I said if you look at MARLON's career.

    2.  "It should be a big year for Marlon,” Harbaugh said.

    http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/John-Harbaugh-Envisions-Big-Year-From-Marlon-Brown/c2188c96-082a-4dba-b802-cd8c467a83b8

    3. No, I'm making it seem as though his overall career with the Ravens (his 1st and 2nd year), puts him ahead of players who've yet to see a single snap at WR.

    1) If you look at Marlons career then what exactly? From pure stats I see a receiver that had less than half of receptions and yards in his second year than he had posted in his first. He also went from 7 touchdowns to 0 touchdowns. Secondly, you said based on that "there's no way Butler and two rookies are better"? You have just said a logic, which if true would mean no rookie should start ever. You do realize that correct?

    2) John Harbaugh has said numerous things about many receivers if you comb through many articles. It's training camp. However, if he felt so strongly about Marlon Brown he would be consistent in saying "I expect a big year out of him", which he did not state in this article. He has also said that this is the year where Marlon Brown must step up. Bottom line is this: He has the size and potential to have a much bigger impact on the game than he had last year. If he continues to underachieve (as he did last year) than he will be replaced.

    3) Your first and third points contradict each other. You first say that you are not comparing careers and than you say if you compare "his overall career with the Ravens that puts him ahead of other players who have yet to see a single snap at WR" (which is a comparison of their careers).

  6. If you're looking at his career as a Raven, there's no way you can say; Camp, Butler (a guy who hasn't played yet) and 2 rookies are better options than Marlon Brown.  Harbaugh is expecting a big year from Brown, but you see him as the 7 best WR option.  Just stop.

    1) No one ever said anything about comparing careers - why would you ever compare careers when you're discussing rookies? According to that logic, Odell Beckham Jr never should have started because the career of the player he was replacing was better than his (assuming he wasn't a rookie). I said their skill sets and talents could translate better into the Ravens offense than Marlon Browns skill-set.

    2) John Harbaugh never said he was expecting a big year out of Marlon Brown. He said he had high hopes for him (which coaches say all the time) and he wanted him to have a break-out year.

    3)  You make it sound like Marlon Brown has had an illustrious Ravens career. His 2014 stats: 25 receptions, 255 yards, 0 TDs.

Again, I am pulling for him but if you can't see how it's viable that other receivers on their roster could replace him than I don't know what to tell you.

  7. Just exactly how good of a season could you expect from Marlon Brown when a Hall of Fame receiver comes in his 2nd year and basically cut his time by 75%?  The time Brown was on the field his rookie year and the limited time at the end of the last season, he played extremely well. If you look at his small sample size of his playing time OBJECTIVELY, there's no reason to suggest he would get cut.

I would expect him to display his strengths as a wide receiver. Being a bigger, stronger receiver he should be able to at win out on jump balls and be a weapon in the red-zone. He did neither last season. He had zero touchdowns which is unacceptable even with limited playing time. Campanaro and Aiken showed greater potential last year in limited roles. You could make a case that Steve Smith, Breshad Perriman, Michael Campanaro, Kamar Aiken, and Darren Waller or Jeremy Butler are all better options than Marlon Brown. Again, I am pulling for him to start this year. He's a great story (coming back from torn ACL in college) and seems like a quality dude.

  8. Harbaugh wants to see a big season from Brown but some fans say he's getting cut.  Gotta love fans sometimes.

You realize those aren't contradictory ideas right? Fans also want to see a big season from Brown but after a solid start to his career he had an underwhelming second season. Combine that with the fact that there are many intriguing, young receivers on the team  and this is why some fans say that he's getting cut. I hope that he does have a breakout season, but he needs to learn how to take advantage of his size to dominate smaller cornerbacks, especially in the red-zone.

  9. I've never read any scouting reports saying Perriman has bad hands. They say he had focus drops, but they also say he makes difficult, contested catches and has a big catch radius. He dropped a few in the first half of one practice, then bounced right back like it never happened. Despite the fact that he had been catching everything besides that one half of a practice, they wrote an entire article about his drops. That seems plenty negative to me. They have also told us Schaub has been struggling, Suggs came back overweight, and Trey Walker was struggling to stay with Perriman in drills.

Come on dude - you really think that they give an honest assessment about the team? Everything that's written is in the most homerific, purple-tinted glasses possible. They'll mention in passing something that is negative (they don't go as far as ignoring the facts) but then will inundate us with reasons not to worry. "Suggs is overweight but don't worry there still is PLENTY of time for him to get in shape for training camp. It's actually a positive that he's not working out because he'll have more energy for the season." They do stuff like this all the time. This site is devolving into a Ravens Propaganda forum and not offering real, unbiased views of the state of the team. John Eisenberg is one of the few writers that provides real analysis on this site.

  10. I'm happy that there's finally an article with some analysis. I almost never see articles that have anything negative to say about any Ravens players ever. Or at worst they'll be like "Some scouts says Breshad Perriman has bad hands but he made great catches in training camp even though he dropped a few!" The only way you improve is if you acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of players and build on that. I would love if I could see more legit, unbiased articles that give real information as opposed to the fluffy "Baltimore Ravens can do no wrong!" articles that this website seems to prefer.

  11. C.J. Mosley is a great pick for the Ravens. Going for a safety would be a massive reach. None of the safeties were highly regarded and the best fit for the ravens would be Clinton-Dix and he was late 1st rnd prospect at best. Besides, do you want the back end of defense to be filled with a roookie and a second year player? Mosley has great instincts, great in coverage, sideline to sideline player, great form tackler. Another great move by Ozzie, getting the best player available rather than reaching for a need pick.
