Breshad we will see you next season and despite your unfortunate setback, you're a part of the family here in Baltimore and I'm praying you come back 100%.
Trestman abandons the run the moment we are down a point. The offense seems to never have any kind of balance. Even though it's a while away. If we don't completely tank, I'd be for grabbing Fournette! We need to use the strength of our line.
I just wish that Brooks could stay healthy because he's physical against the run, is very quick in covering the field, and plays hard, but he just needs more snaps and time to excel at the position and understand what the offenses are trying to do. Free Safety is killing us right now. Look at all of our blown plays. There seems to never be a safety in sight or they are simply getting burned. Will Hill is great in coverage and in stopping the run, but it's hard to commit him to a strict center fielder, which I hope Brooks can develop into.
P.S.- Jernigan is great when fresh, but gases quickly and starts to become ineffective. Hopefully the insertion of Urban into the line will help keep him effective and explosive.
The only player that we let go that we truly miss is pernell mcphee. I'm sorry but a $38 million contract for 5 years is certainly worth it. I know we were cash strapped with Ngata and Rice dead money, but oz needed to invest in future pass rushers. Sizzle and Doom are amazing but they're both north of 30. McPhee can play the run great and could line up everywhere. He has good technique and power. He has 5 sacks in a Chicago defense, imagine how well he would be doing here with increased snaps. I always believe that a ferocious pass rush can mask or at least minimize any deficiencies in the secondary. I pray we draft some bullies early to wreak havoc when Suggs comes back.
I Pray SSS, the legendary receiver will return and Perriman turns out to be a good pick. Ozzie and drafting receivers has been tough. We might as well stick to the formula of drafting great defensive players early then gambling post 2nd round to get receivers. I'm just so mad we didn't get Diggs! The whole site here was begging for him to get drafted because he was a stud, but let's keep this veteran receiver pipeline going. Mason, Boldin and SSS have all been gold.
We need lewis to get the boys fired up more often.
Man the bad luck just continues to mount. Our Defensive and Offensive leaders both are out for the year. We need to keep fighting though because we have a lot of talent, but we need to minimize our blunders!
I'm impressed with Jackson on special teams, he's tearing it up! I think the 2TE set with Forsett and Buck pounding the rock and getting our speedy guys on the outside some space is a must for the rest of the year
Optimistically speaking, It has been agonizing to watch a talented unit fail to close out 6 games, but at least they have all been somewhat entertaining. Next year we need to build on this talent with high draft picks and a better cap situation with the hopes of becoming a legit contender. We simply lost too many pieces from last year and injuries lack of execution penalties have plagued this season. I pray to the football Gods that Sizzle comes back healthy, SSS decides to give it one more try, and we draft mean aggressive Ravens! I just want a top 10 pick to go to a game changing pass rusher to compliment Sizzle and Doom and a solid press corner for depth. We need to re-establish the Ravens way
I agree with everyone's comments on this story. I thought we had heart out there and that we played good against a top notch team in a hard place to win. But, refs need to start getting suspended or demoted when making those atrocious calls. His knee looked like it was down and Ross probably shouldn't have ran that one. But these make or break calls are killing us. The johnson one was by far the worst. If Smith or Hill hit him after forward progress was stalled there is no doubt an unnecessary roughness call would've came.
Happened to Pitt too, it's time to invest in some reliable technology. That is a huge setback when you're on the road in a madhouse stadium.
-I'll tell you it easily. Cap nightmare stopped us from keeping some great talent (Torrey, whom we knew how to utilize and McPhee who played great against the run and could line up anywhere).
-Injuries on this team are some of the craziest I've ever seen. How could we get so unlucky? Suggs is still a top 5 OLB and we miss his leadership, knowledge and outstanding play on the field. SSS, Crock, and Perriman are supposed to be lighting it up but that has been squashed by the injury bug. Heck, look at how well the D looked first half, then we see Davis, Doom , and Webb leave and we absolutely fell apart.
-Stupid undisciplined penalties have crushed a lot of great things for us. Jernigan's roughing the passer in Oakland that gave them an extra 15 yards to win the game. Guy's roughing the passer against Cleveland that negated Webb's sick pick. Cincy game was atrocious. We stalled out so many offensive drives because we would either get a nice play then have it come back or we would start from 1st and 20. We had the 4th down conversion until Ko's penalty--which was suspect--then we failed to get it again.
Coaching and execution. I can't entirely blame Trestman yet because his unit has been injured, but a lot of his calls have been so predictable to even me of all people, i can imagine how players on the field are laughing pre-snap. I'm glad we finally got the run game going. Forsett and Buck are a great tandem, but then the passing game is irrelevant because we have a lack of talent, whom all love to drop open passes. I have hope that if SSS and Gilmore come back that their superior blocking and receiving will help our offense become explosive--a dream would be for a miracle to happen and to get SSS, Permian, Gilmore, Aiken, and Pitta on the field together. Defense, well Pees must go because it's blatant that he can't make adjustments to preserve leads, he can't utilize players strengths and he has taken a historic defense that still does have a lot of pieces and they cannot stop the pass to save their lives. But we fortunately are equipped for the trenches.
I pray we can turn it around and Ravens for life! With a new DC and our players healthy. I think this is a legit squad that can battle it out with anybody.
CJ you're a great defensive player in Run support and a good pass rusher when called upon. Coverage is tough at times and I blame Pees for the assignments he gives you guys.
I swear Ozzie better not let KO or Yanda walk. They're both beasts that get our run game going and I'm sick of talent leaving. I get it that we can't pay everyone but with many questionable draft picks and veteran signings we need to keep our talent to build around! O-line needs to be our strength
Lack of fire, injuries, and penalties have sunk our ship. Ravens nation we have literally been in every game we've played down to the wire. The talent is there and we do have a lot to build on but we need to get our best players on the field at the same time. Our depth is rather embarrassing. I almost think we're plagued to have at least 2-3 critical injuries every year. This team has been built for the trenches( to stop the run and get our run game going) but we can't get critical catches at the buzzer and our D cannot preserve a lead.
Wishlist: Get an aggressive knowledgable D coordinator.
Potentially sign a young pass rusher before Suggs turns 40.
Start drafting players who have a mean streak because they win games. Outside of SSS, Will Hill, and maybe Yanda. We don't have a lot of fire on this team--we're talented but no one is igniting the flame with sizzle gone.
Pees has got to go! We need a legit big trade for a pass rusher or veteran receiver. We need to get healthy and play discipline football. Those wild card spots are as good as open still. But only if we can not lose more than z2 more games until the end.
My five thoughts:
1.) we're so undiscipline with these penalties. They have cost us atleast this one and the Oakland game
2.) home field advantage is non existent. I was at the game and half of the time towards the end everyone wSvquiet because Cleveland came back in the game.
3.) injuries have ravished this team and we simply could not afford them. Flacco has limit resources and he has still put points on the board. We need SSS, Gilmore and perriman, toss in a potential return of pitta and we could be lethal.
4.) pass rushers needed. We've went from a unit with a three headed monster pass rush to one that can't get there with 5 & 6 man rushes. Suggs we miss you
5.) leadership is absent and it hurts. The Lewis, reed, Suggs, and ngata era has ended and we have no fire as a team and our game changers haven't been able to unite to close games together.
I don't even know what or who to blame. Pees gets aggressive and our blitz can never get there and every other time we're sitting in zone getting torn apart. Some games I like pees and 2/3 I can't stand his play calling. 33, 24, and 30 pt games should be enough without numerous offensive weapons. We NEED a pass rusher to dominate and. a coordinator who can call plays that can wrap up a game.
I didn't realize how many players left the game. Dumervil, Davis, and Webb. Injuries are killing us and lack of leadership. If we could only close games out we could be sitting real nice right now
I'm very happy we finally got out first win, but people are acting like we completely turned the season around already. I'm very optimistic if we can play the way we have the past 2 games while limiting our turnovers we should be fine. We need to blow out the Browns Sunday to send a message. I think if we can get wins against them and the 49ers going into the bye our season still has a chance. Our keys to success are not being predictable on offense and getting the ground game going. Receivers need to catch the freaking ball because Flacco outside of a few dumb passes has been gunning them in there any receivers are dropping them. Please do a ton of 2 TE sets with Gilmore and Maxx. And on defense we must play discipline football and get a good pass rush going to help the secondary. Go Ravens
This game will determine the rest of the season. A big win tonight will give us some confidence. We naturally are good at limiting the run game but we need to slow down AB somehow with double coverage and pressure vick into making some bad throws. Flacco and company will hopefully put up 20 plus so that we can close this game out
We have the pieces necessary to win games but there are a plethora of reasons of why we can't close out games. The first thing is health. We can't seem to get all of our good players on the field at once. I would love for Monroe to return and add stability to the blind side. I would also love to get a 2 TE formation with Gilmore and Williams out there with SSS and Perriman on the opposite side. At least then we would have a legit shot of pounding the ball up the middle and using play action to the strength of our players. The ground game needs to sustain for us to kill clock and end games, period. On defense we are built to stop the run and that's great I love that, but we are so prone to giving up huge pass plays i don't know where to point the finger. I think it has to do with schemes and communication because Webb, Smith, Hill, Arrington, and Lewis are individually pretty darn good players. I just wish we would've kept Mcphee. I know that Ozzie is a genius and most often makes the best moves, but sometimes you actually have to pay your players that you groom and stop continuing to believe that every player drafted will immediately be able to replace that production. I felt with McPhee that he didn't get overpaid and if we weren't in cap disaster we could have easily kept him. Anyways, we must get Babin involved in the pass rush because once we can get some pressure on QBs our defense should be able to rebound. All three were heart breaking losses and it's to the players and coaches to adjust quickly to revive this season.
I was at the game and it was a roller coaster ride of emotions. I mean we have just enough talent to win big games but players need to make plays and that's that. I mean come on, a 4th down possible Td dropped by eifert, jimmy smiths interception, Mosley fumble recovery to the house and two SSS Td passes! We had enough but the team lacked transition. Once one side of the ball did something great, the other would sink the ship. Penalties killed a lot of offensive rhythm too. If he have any chance of salvaging this season, something extreme must happen. Either we trade for a WR or edge rusher or we fire pees. He's god awful. Blitz with the strength of the team and leave corners in man coverage with safety help over the top. Greens Td for 80 yards was a prime example of why zone on this team doesn't work!
I hope Melvin has adopted the habit of film study because he is very physically gifted and has a knack to make plays. The playoffs were tough on him but I really like his style and physical play! let's rough those receivers up at the line! and let Will Hill lurk the secondary. I also wouldn't mind seeing Terrence Brooks get some snaps at FS. I think he has some real talent if developed. He's fast, physical and a good hitter.

This secondary would benefit significantly because webby at least is an intelligent player and can often guess where the ball is going. With him and Hill at safety, we just need to draft a stud corner like that kid from Flordia State that is drawing comparisons to Patrick Peterson to pair with jimmy, who I feel is not 100% with his foot. I'm still upset we didn't get peters or Darby in the draft, they're having great years.
