Thinking about it more, I'm okay with John Ross as the pick at 16. The guy's TD to catch ratio is insane, especially in the redzone. And unlike a lot of speedsters he is a natural hands catcher, rather than letting the ball hit his chest. The injuries worry me, but if Mike Williams and Barnett are off the board, Ross could be the top guy left on our board.

I'm glad more people are coming on board. Injury history in college has come to mean nothing. Guys like Mosley who were habitually banged up in college come into the pros and have almost no durability issues and there are other who have ironman streaks in college like Stanley, but happen to have injuries occur. It's a gamble either way.

Ross is more of a total package than most will give him credit for. Him and Perriman only have speed in common and I think Ross is far more elusive and quick with solid hands.

  2. I know most are still hanging tight that Barnett Foster or M. Williams will be there, but being pragmatic, I think there is a sliver of a chance that they are.

The new realistic crop of available talent will likely be Ross, Lamp, Reddick, Humphrey, Conley, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, I'd have my fingers crossed for Ross or Lamp.

  3. Anderson on the other hand however is going to be a very reliable SAM backer. He doesn't have the wild athleticism and explosiveness, but he  plays physical and intelligently. He will be a jack of all trades.

He is great in run support; he finds a way to always be around the ball; uses his hands well while bending the edge; wraps up well and doesn't get tricked by counters, screens, etc.

Williams from a talent perspective isn't as reliable in run support and doesn't disengage blockers well when they get a hold of him. My other critique is everyone claims he has a nasty spin move and counter moves, which I've seen, bit not nearly as much as you would like. His initial strategy is to straight up beat the tackle around the edge with quickness. Once the tackle is able to mirror him and prevent that from happening, he often tries to shoot inside with a rip or spin move, but often the LTs and RTs get a hold of him and he is frozen. This happened a lot against Clemson.

  4. In regards to the Williams v Anderson comp, I think that Williams has more raw potential and has the tool to be a double digit sack artist, but he needs to stay out of trouble and keep his weight on. When he is sub 240, he just gets too light and isn't as much of a force. If he could keep his explosiveness and not over pursue on the speed rush he could be deadly.

  5. Realistically, I would switch JuJu for Walker because I don't think he will escape the second. Other than that, I like the mock a lot. It's hard to gauge second to mid round guys projectios though, Elflein could very well go early second and Witherspoon could as well. But that would just push some other borderline top 50 player to us in the third so I'm cool with it.

if he drops to us in the 3rd because of his tackling i'll literally jump for joy because that's an absolute steal for one of the better coverage corners in this class and it's not exactly a bad coverage class

I wanted to put him in my recent mock, but it seemed redundant with everyone adding him to theirs. I hope we get him in the third or Kevin King in the second.

This would be a good draft for us. Lamp would be a great addition to our offensive line. I really like the double dip on defensive backs in the third, hope fully King would still be there.

Lamp would make our line incredibly good. Pass protection on the left side would be borderline impenetrable. Lamp isn't quite a mauler in the run game but he opens up enough holes with the rare ability to anchor against the bull rush and has quick enough feet to keep the speed rushers at Bay.

I like everything about it but why do we need perine? We already have west, Dixon and taliafero; we need a home run hitter not a bowling ball, we already have too many of those. Id much rather have marlon mack from usf

I forgot Lorenzo was still on the team! Lmao I'd probably look for Gallman from Clemson then.

  9. With this mock I want to do something a little different while remaining realistic to player's value. Hence, I will include one realistic draft day trade.

**With a few teams in a pinch to acquire an elite RB, the Ravens receive multiple calls to move back to enable Dalvin Cook to go off the board at 16. The Giants and Bucs both make offers and we slide back three spots and acquire an additional fourth rounder.

With the 19th pick in the Draft the Ravens select,

    G/T Forrest Lamp

I know that many people want us to take a top receiver or pass rusher, but I think M.Williams, Davis and Barnett are all taken. I see more value in holding out and taking this stud. Small school guy, yet his tape is nothing but impressive, especially against Alabama. He anchored well against Jonathan Allen and shut Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson out. They literally started targeting the opposite side of the line to get pressure because Lamp was giving them the business. Lamp is position versatile and can play at all 5 slots in a pinch, which will make our line borderline elite if we sign Mangold.

With the 47th pick, the Ravens select,

    OLB Carl Lawson,

I wanted to go Tim Williams here but I think that he will come off the board before Lawson for a variety of reasons. Some think that this would be a stretch, but in a deep edge rusher class, I think Carl's injury concerns and semi-raw and stiff technique will have him in the middle of the second. Guys like Thomas, Barnett, Reddick, Watt, McKinley, Charlton and Williams will go first enabling us to get a seriously talented edge rusher who will add a smash mouth dynamic back to our pass rush.

With the 74th pick the Ravens select,

    CB Sidney Jones,

In perhaps the deepest CB class in a decade, a once top 15 pick will slide right back into purple and black in the third. I personally believe Ozzie was motivated to make the trade up to target a specific player and no one quite makes sense like Sid Jones does. In any other year I think despite the injury he would go top 50 easily, but with so much talent that will still likely be there in the second round at CB such as Lewis, White, King, Awuzie, Jackson, Witherspoon, Tankersley, Sutton, etc., Jones arrives here and rehabs for 10 weeks on the PUP list and emerges as a critical piece in our defense for the post-season.

With the 78th pick, the Ravens select,

    S/CB Desmond King

Talent wise, he is deserving of going in the first round. The downfall is he doesn't project too well at CB and doesn't have experience at safety. That's alright though, King is a physical play maker and he knows how to get the job done. He will be a versatile piece early on until Weddle slows down and we eventually move him out to safety. He adds few depth early on.

Speed this up a little here,

    4th round:

    RB Samaje Perine,

Smash mouth runner that allows us to go back to a power running scheme and gives us a great goaline back that can be deployed on those short yardage downs.

    WR Isaiah Ford,

The combine might have dropped his stock, yet he is a shifty receiver that could play well in the slot for us.

    5th round:

Ejuan Price- a Dumervil/Harrison clone who projects to a be a straight-line rusher that wins in the leverage game.

    6th round:

    CB Channing Stribling,

Another CB to go into camp with. He has the ideal size needed and gets a recommendation from Jim at Michigan. He would be a potential project CB that could develop.

    16. Baltimore Ravens

Kiper: Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA | Watch highlights
Baltimore needs pass-rushers. Terrell Suggs, 34, was the only Raven to have more than five sacks last season (he had eight). McKinley is a speed rusher who could play outside linebacker in the Ravens' 3-4. He broke out in 2016 with 10 sacks and three forced fumbles for the Bruins.

McShay: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama | Watch highlights
The Ravens spent the sixth overall pick last year on LT Ronnie Stanley, and Robinson is a natural fit on the right side. He still needs to improve his technique, but Robinson possesses excellent length (35½-inch arms) and is an elite mauler in the running game

    bal.png?w=110&h=110&transparent=true

    47. Baltimore Ravens

    Kiper: Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA
Moreau could drop a little farther after tearing a pectoral muscle at his pro day. He's expected to be ready for training camp, however, so I don't see him dropping much. Baltimore signed veteran corner Brandon Carr but needs youth and depth.

McShay: Jordan Willis, DE, Kansas State
It's hard for a 255-pounder to have a better combine performance than Willis: 4.53 40, 39-inch vertical, 4.28-second short shuttle. I didn't quite see that level of explosiveness when initially watching Willis' tape, but he certainly caught the eye of folks in the league.

I like Kiper's better, but realistically, I think Cam and Takk are both far from complete prospects, or at least ones we should target at 16.

Takk is a high motor kinda player but that is about it. He is a quicker Upshaw who doesn't set the edge as well. Watch once the tackle engages, he has zero counter moves. He tries to bull rush and even that isn't good enough to consistently beat NFL caliber RTs or LTs. He is a project player.

I love Cam as a mauler guard in the run game, but he is slow and clunky in pass pro. I prefer Forrest Lamp, he's a beast. Yanda like player there.

Dan Jeremiah just posted his 4.0 mock.

And with no QB's picked before us still has Barnett falling to us. I like it.

Couple curious selections with the Saints taking Conley at 11 with both Reuben Foster and Barnett on the board.

And McCaffery going to the Panthers.

But it certainly not a crazy set of circumstances where Barnett does in fact make it to us. There is some hope.

Barnett's chance of landing here can go either way. I think if two QBs go and two surprise picks happen while the Saints pass on him then he should 90% be there.

I'm hoping Watson and Trubisky go then some combo like Reddick and Lamp go ahead of us.

I'm on the fence on this.

Let him stay and have a good year and cash out during FA and probably get a 3rd round comp for him in 2019.

    OR

trying to capitalize this year b/c they have some players they really like that will be available early in the 3rd.

I prefer the later. I mean, I do like the idea that we are now in range to take two really good prospects in a deep defensive draft, perhaps one is Sidney Jones or another falling star, but it's just tough to to say until after the year is over.

I just have a hunch that we would be better off reaping the benefits of Jernigan working his tail off in a contract year then getting a third or fourth round comp a year later. I guess I'll hold my tongue until we see.

  13. I love the underrated value of Lamp. Great pick up. However, I don't get how people think Elflein is still there in the middle of the third. There are just too many teams with needs at center that I cannot see the best, if not, the second best center in the draft still sitting there that late.

    0

  14. I'd say I'm one of the Captain's on his hype train, but even if you don't want him at 16, I don't get the hate.

I get that Flacco is imperfect and has bad accuracy at times, but I think Ross is still a threat and play maker waiting to happen. He probably would be best utilized in a place like NO, GB, or NE. I just have a hunch that he will either be our pick or that he will tear it up next year.

  15. Trade back seems inevitably if the draft goes as expected. Offensive line will be addressed I think. Likely with two interior guys while we kick out Lewis to RT.

Ideally we make a trade back to 19-22 and get at least another 3rd or fourth. If Cam, Ramcyzk or Lamp was there, I'd be on board. If not I'd actually like a rusher like Tim Williamd then taking Elflein or Feeney in the second if there then taking Moton or asiata in the third.

    RavensDieHard21....

I think McKinley is a perfect fit for us at 16. He don't have to walk in and be the man. He can learn under Suggs. We have Judon and ZSmith to help - Plus.... McKinley has very good pass rushing skills.... very smooth swim and rip.... very deep bends that make it difficult for OT to mirror- very long arms not allowing OL and TE's to engage. He needs work on his bull rush / club and power moves (but that is what they said about TSizzle coming out of college). TK is about 20 plus pounds bigger then Hasson Reddick and Cunningham and - His biggest down fall right now is that he needs to add strength... (typical for most kids coming out of college)....t he needs to work to to add strength to ensure that he can play in the physical AFC North and not just rely on athleticism. Right now he would be a situational pass rusher and not an edge setting OLB- but that is what we want...we had Upshaw who could set an edge but we needed someone who can get after QBs and harass them. I think TK would be a steal at # 16

I was saying Cam at # 2 and I agree with you that he will probably be gone by then. Different draft experts have him as late as late second round and as early as top 15 overall. But with any of these projections- I am suggesting players like Cam or TK etc. If Cam is not there in round 2. Roderick Johnson- T- FSU should be ( and TBH he may have a greater upside long term) or Taylor Morton -T out of WMich (who is climbing up the boards)... I really like Will Holden out of Vandy (and he may be available in round 3) allowing us to jump at one of the FLA CBs or TreDavious White - CB -LSU in round 2.

If Westbrook is gone... Stacey Coley-WR - Miami (albeit we can probably land him in the 4th) or Ju Ju Smith Schuster (in 3rd)

I really hope that nobody jumps at Noah Brown but watching him play... he can be a problem for defenses. He is simply very raw but such a freakish athlete that he can be a mid round steal that everyone is talking about years from now.

I would love to see us step up and snag either Sid Jones- CB- Wash or Fabian Moreau with our 3rd pick. (since we have two in the 3rd round).

I know that Sid will not play until next year but he is worth waiting on. I also do not think that Fabian will drop to the 3rd but some draft experts are now saying mid 3rd to mid 4th is realistic- bc he just had surgery and this will set him back. With Carr and Tavon we don't need him to start right away and will have the luxury of allowing him to come along at his own pace! . I doubt that we could get that lucky but if he is there (either one)... man we better grab them.

This is a very deep draft and we have some holes to fill. I would love to see it play out similar to how I projected but If not there are a ton of directions we can go -

In my best Bart Scott voice... "CANT WAIT"!

I see massive potential with Tak and I wouldn't really be mad at all because he could develop really well. I'd take him over Charlton and probably Harris because he is better in run support, plus he doesn't have character concerns like Tim Williams. Tough call though.

However, I would love Moreau or Sid Jones in the third and stash him away so we have a crazy secondary.

  17. Flacco just needs a good line and a defense that won't give up the most go ahead TDs in the league two years in a row. I'm sure he wouldn't like to throw 40-50 times per game but our line and run game has been so bad that we cannot generate any push up the middle.

I am hoping that Stanley and Lewis make great strides and we add another monster on the line like Cam Robinson, Dion Dawkins, Dan Feeney, Pat Elflein, or Taylor Moton, so that we can go out there to mail people on every down. If Flacco gets time and we can run the ball I think we will be in good position next year.

Joe should have 3 Super Bowls! But noooooooooooooooooo he tried to get a pass off before Troy Polomalu strip the ball out his hand costing us a trip against the Cardinals and a very very very bad pass against the pats costing us another Super Bowl against the Seahawks because Justin had a monster day and throwing to the endzone and maybe depending on your banged up secondary to stop Brady would have been pointless! I thought Joe could get 5 rings with us but he disappointed me big time! Ozzie and Co. are working their tails off keeping good players on this team year after year but it all falls on the QB! And throwing the O line under the bus is getting old! Smh multiple Super Bowls we should have FOUR! Bring facts to the table if you think different!

I do agree with this, but if not for Cundiff and Evans, we likely win it all in 11' guided by Flacco.

In 14' though, that playoff game was in the bag and Flacco chucked up an unneeded bomb when we were running it down their throats and they couldn't stop us. Had we let KO and Yanda continue to leave the way we would have ended that game.

    Round 1. Takkarist McKinley-OLB- UCLA....
super freaky type athlete with a very high ceiling. A twitchy athlete with a great motor- TK will make our pass rush better immediately. (which is what Mr. Biscotti has been asking for) !

Round 2. Cam Robinson- T- Bamma
Robinson will make great bookends with Stanley for years to come. Allowing us to move ALewis to G and when we bring in Mangold( after May 9th)...that gives us a really talented and really nasty OL for new coach Greg Roman to work with.

    Round 3. Jalen Myrick- CB-Minn
Myrick is fast.... 4.28 in the combine and has good size... reminiscent of Jimmy Smith... he is a fast, physical CB who can contribute right now. (Unless Fabian Moreau-CB-UCLA is still on the board) Myrick can be a steal in round 3 and even more important- a great fit for our defense!

Round 3. De De Westbrook - WR- OKLA.
Westbrook is a playmaker and maybe the most under rated WR in this draft. He has single handedly made Baker Mayfield look great and he has the DIVA attitude and competitive edge that we are losing with SSS. Forget the combine numbers... this kid can play and will be a very good NFL WR!

Round 4. Noah Brown- WR- Ohio State.
Browns physical skills may be as good as any WR coming into the NFL this year... and that is saying a lot bc there are some excellent WRs in this years draft. Brown is giant for a WR and has great speed and acceleration. He tracks the ball well but he is inexperienced and needs route development and needs to improve his consistency. Brown could be a steal in the 4th round and would add depth and playmaking ability to our offense. if we can develop him a little. (at minimum... he will make a great ST contributor)

    Round 5. Ejuan Price-OLB- PItt
Price is an explosive athlete who has great hands (for shedding blocks) and can get after a QB. He would easily be a second round or higher if he were a couple of inches taller. The only real knock on price is that he is too short and sometimes allows OL into his body as a result. (this could make him more of a situational pass rusher then an every down OLB but who cares - you never have enough pass rushers and we have LBs who can set the edge! This is the same reason that Dumervill was not an early draft pick. In fact Prices skillset, motor and style of play is very reminiscent of Doom.... not just his stature.

    Round 6. Kareem Are-OT /G-FSU.
Are has a massive frame and great lower body strength. He is probably better suited inside in the NFL then outside bc he is inconsistent with his first step (especially late in games). Conditioning has been an issue and there is some concern over his weight... But he has a big enough frame that he could handle it better then others. He has a nasty streak and is a Greg Roman type of OL. He could provide depth at both G and T and help to add the type of attitude to the OL that Roman is looking for... (if he can get in shape and add some upper body strength he could turn into a starter in this league).

Not bad at all. Overall though, it is solid, but McKinley is way too raw to take at 16 imo. High ceiling, moderately low floor. He has athleticism, the frame and motor to be good, but he has literally no arsenal of pass rushing moves. I'd much rather take Williams, Watt or Harris.

Cam could slide into the 20's but that is about it. Outside of Ramcyzk and Lamp, Cam is arguably the top OL prospect in a thin class. There are too many O line needy teams that will pick before our second such as Indy, Seattle, Denver, Carolina, Jax, etc.
