I'll edit this in: I don't think anyone here said he was bad value there, but as I said earlier, I don't view him as a top 10, maybe even top 15, player.
To each their own. Just out of curiosity who do you have ahead of him who would realistically have a chance of being there at 16?🤔
Btw, saying Foster isn't value at 16 is blasphemous. Guy is easily a top 10 pick.
I get positional value, but if M Williams and Davis are gone along with Barnett, those other more valuable positions don't have a better player to compare Foster to. I don't like taking a raw rusher like McKinley or a solid corner like Conley over a blue chip ILB.
41 minutes ago, Davesta said:Ravens will trade up 2-3 spots (giving a 5th round) to jump the defense needy colt if Barnett or foster slide.
Or trade up to stop the WR-needy titans from jumping us to grab Corey Davis or mike will if that's who we covet
Not to be a downer, but a fifth rounder doesn't get you squat in moving up in the first. Bold predict ion though. I would say our 4th rounder could get us up to 13th or 14th.
At 16, we need to nail this pick. We can gamble on the next few picks with players with upside, yet haven't produced at a consistently high level.
As far as an early safe pick that I think will be great at the next level--whom could be in our range, I really like M. Williams, Reuben Foster, Derek Barnett, Corey Davis and Forrest Lamp.
Realistically, I think Lamp is the most likey to be there. He is that vanilla pick that everyone complains about, but he looks like a blue chip lineman. Definite all-pro potential. Quick feet, great hand usage, powerful enough to hold off bigger players and has very solid balance. The Yanda comparison is not a bad one what so ever. Flacco needs a possession receiver and a line. You plug in Lamp and we have at least 3/5 pro bowlers on our line.
6 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Never saw him as a first rounder. He is just so bad at disengaging, he is stiff(despite what some seem to be saying, I find it odd that everyone thought he was stiff a month ago and suddenly he isn't?) and as far as athleticism and motor is concerned there are other edge rushers just as good.
And no he's not my least favorite, I'd be upset with cook/mcaffrey, peppers, Conley, Cunningham, bolles, and a lot of the other guys that could easily be considered second rounders, which is a category I think takk falls into, but of all those borderline guys takk would definitely be in the upper end of that category
Agreed, top to bottom. McKinley has always been on my over valued list. He fails to disengage often and even when he does, the play is easily 6-7 seconds in and it falls on the inept QBs for not getting rid of the ball quicker. If you can't get home in 3-4 seconds in the NFL, you will get toasted.
8 hours ago, rossihunter2 said:Who would you have preferred at that spot over takk?
I wouldn't have said this a month ago, but either McDowell or Lamp.
I don't know where all the negs came from, but I just tried something different from our typical mocks with Barnett or M. Williams going first then Tim or some other first round guy still being there at 47. Then most have Sid Jones and Witherspoon in the third.
I figured the way the board stacks that we could get a great edge guy, an anchor at center, a possession receiver, plus two corners with a lot of upside and a few projects at the end.
2 hours ago, Willbacker said:You lose that 5th yr option trading out of the 1st and it seems like everybody is giving us either King or Witherspoon in the 3rd which is bad voojoo.
Valid point. I have had King in every mock since the beginning. I like the idea of double dipping in the third on secondary players. I think Moreau is option B.
2 hours ago, rossihunter2 said:i think its realistic in the sense that that's fair value but i think it would have to be a better offer to get us to move out of a spot with the talent level available there
Players I have left at 16 are Conley, Reddick, Cook,Cam, Ross and McDowell. As far as blue chip prospects go, I don't really see any locks at 16.
In this scenario Ozzie gets a few extra stabs at filling this roster with quality players with a lot of upside.
7 hours ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:I like the players taken but feel like we lost the trades.
We move down 8 spots in the 1st and have to give up our 4th just to get a late 2nd??
And then trade out of the 1st round entirely back 10 spots and only get a 3rd??
I mean would you trade pick 16 AND our 4th for two 2nds and a 3rd?
Idk maybe the draft pick value math works out on this but it seems like we lost.
EDIT: just checked the trade value chart and it actually says we win both of those trades. So maybe it's just me... but still feels like a loss moving all the way out of the 1st.
Trading back twice may not be too realistic, but I tried to be realistic when it came to what teams would give us. I took the same approach with the picks too. Just wanted to see how the board would fall. While there might not be any superstars at 16 in this scenario like Barnett, Davis or Williams, we do accrue a lot of talented pieces. Even if only 3 or 4 pan out early, that is still a great draft in my book.
Brantley is a good character player I think. The talent is obviously there. I just hope he loves the game because he is really good at it. So quick off the line and he uses his hands to perfection. He penetrates and sheds so effortlessly but seems to take plays off and doesn't finish. If someone lights a fire under his butt, he might turn out to be a complete steal.
Maybe he was lol I just analyzed big boards and recent mocks by multiple outlets and tried to plug and go. I was impressed by Brantley's quickness when I watched him.
In all realism, if the altercation is true then I would have substituted Brantley for Tanoh Kpassagnon or Derek Rivers.
For the first time in years, Ozzie does not have an over abundance of picks. With this class having so much depth and talent, I predict that Ozzie will find a way to stock up early.
**Sorry about a lack of photos, I can never find the right size ones to use 😂
The Las Vegas Raiders give us a buzz and believe that they are one premier corner away from being a team that can challenge the Patriots. With Conley still on the board, we trade back and send our 4th round pick in exchange for the Raider's second round pick.
With the 24th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select.....
oh wait! the 49ers are calling and Patrick Mahomes II is still on the board. In order to preserve a future at the QB position and to ensure that the Texans, Steelers or Chiefs don't steal their guy, San Fran deals us their second and third round pick in exchange for the 24th overall.
locked and loaded, here we go...
(34) Tim Williams, OLB.
The Ravens need speed off the edge and Tim despite his baggage will be a major cog in our resurgence with his arsenal of rush moves and explosion off the edge. He needs to keep weight on but I think he will develop and set the edge well over time.
(47) Pat Elflein, C/G.
It might seem early, but in a thin offensive line class, the top guys will fly off the board early, hence, why this pick at 47 makes sense. He can play either position, but I think he will anchor us at C. Technically sound with functional strength, I think he could give us a Travis Frederick like boost.
(56) JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR.
I love the Boldin comparison. He is a strong WR with vice grip hands. Not a crazy athlete and doesn't have blazing speed, yet he wins jump ball scenarios with good timing and grit. He blocks well and will compliment Perriman and Wallace quite well.
(66) Caleb Brantley, DT.
I like the potential of the young guys on the team, but competition never hurts and we currently don't have any interior lineman that are legitimate pass rush threats. Brantley knifes his way into the backfield often and he makes it look easy. A very disruptive player that could make the loss of Jernigan an after thought.
(74) Ahkello Witherspoon, CB.
He possesses a ridiculous wing span and he knows how to use it to swat away any contested balls in his vicinity. I like his upside a whole lot and he could develop into a real shut down guy. He isn't as aggressive as I'd like and has mediocre tackling abilities, yet he will contribute early.
(78) Desmond King, S/CB.
He is a traditional Ozzie pick. Not too flashy, yet he has a high football IQ and is a hard worker that often makes big plays with his instincts and aggressive playing style. I think he plays in the slot early and is moved around often to create confusion but he will eventually take Weddle's spot and be a tremendous safety.
(159) Joe Mathis, DE/ OLB.
Guy is a beast as far as strength goes. At worst he will set the edge very well and help us maintain the NFL's best run defense. Upside? He could use that strength to improve his bull rush. His hand usage in rushing situations is often poor, but coaching can sometimes do wonders.
(186) Artavis Scott, WR.
YOLO, it's the sixth round and I just picked a rando.

Lmao the title is bold. That's bold.
20 minutes ago, Jacquouille said:Yeah and then Jeremiah put him at 2 in his big board, so everyone kinda went to his tape and came back sold.
Conley all day, he has instincts that I love and feels the game so well. Apart from his poor tackling and a horrible game vs Michigan (he still shows the willingness so he'll improve) he's near flawless. King was my sleeper during the process but he lacks some scheme versatility and some mental processing right now.
Agreed. I have warned up to the idea of Conley at 16. It's only his lack of aggression and tackling that I knock him for. Besides that he doesn't have too many other flaws.
Lattimore is so gifted but after getting injured at the combine it just seems like an omen of what is it come and with already having a player like that in Jimmy, we cannot afford to first round corners who barely can suit up 14/16 games a season.
Ravens don't address defense until the third round.
We take Forest Lamp with first pick and JuJu with the second.
Caleb Brantley is a better interior lineman than Allen and McDowell.
17 minutes ago, 52520Andrew said:What the title says
I'll go with my own...
Gareon Conley will be the best corner from this draft
Dalvin Cook will get over 1,200 rushing yards this year and close to 500 receiving yards
I have a sneaky suspicion that Conley will be.
6 hours ago, Jacquouille said:Marshon Lattimore. I was the first one here to name him the best CB in the draft, and still think on the field he's elite, but with his harmstring issues I wouldn't want him here, and yes even at pick 16.
Remember at the beginning of the process you were the conductor on his hype train in the DB thread?🤣
I always had Sid Jones 1 before his injury, now I have no clue who will be the best rookie CB in this class. Daring guess, Kevin King or Gareon Conley ?
3 hours ago, Sami84 said:Lamp would be an unsexy pick but i wouldnt hate it. This would be like fredrick or zach martin.
I think he's the only ELITE linesman in this draft. PRO BOWL ALL PRO etc
Agreed! Lamp is a great talent. His game v Alabama said it all. He shut down Allen, Williams and Anderson. They started targeting the right side by the second half.
There are a ton of great players but we need to address where the most value is. The guys that might slip that I'd be extremely excited to draft would be:
Barnett, Foster, M. Williams and Corey Davis.
Realistically who will be there that still has good value even without a trade back:
Forrest Lamp, Reddick, Cam Robinson(G), Gareon Conley, John Ross.
Then there are the guys that look good, but would make me scratch my head because they have major question marks with development, injuries, or scheme fits--some might think Ross fits in here and I do agree, but I have a guy feeling that Ross turns into an electric talent:
Taco, Takk McKinley, Malik McDowell, Jabrill Peppers (16)

On paper they have a top 3 OL. They have a great HC. A gm who has been killing it. A ton of high picks in the coming years. And cap space. That OL and the space/currency to add stars will go a long way. Trubisky has pro tools, and putting him behind that line AND fournette behind that line... trubisky will only throw when he has to, at which point he's got barnidge and Coco against a stacked box with time to throw.
Thats a hell of a foundation for a rebuild and you're flat out in denial if you don't believe so lol
I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch, but the potential is there. I wouldn't see this happening until at least the 2018 season. Their defense is atrocious still and Coleman and Barnidge are not overly solid security blankets which Trubisky would need. He is still way too raw. I'd take Watson over him, but that is irrelevant.
Btw the Williams combo would be clutch, however, the only rushers I see going ahead of him are Garrett, Barnett, Thomas, Tak, Watt, Reddick, then maybe Taco, but I'm not sure that pushed him to 47. I hope it does though.
I would even take Witherspoon with the first third rounder because I wouldn't want him slipping past us.
It's so funny that most mocks have a very early consensus on where certain players are going, but watch that all go up in flames on draft day lmao
Garrett to Cleveland
Lattimore to Tennessee
Hooker to LA
Fournette to Jax
Barnett to NO
Foster to Cincinnati
