  1. I think it's clear that the plan is to move Alex Lewis to right tackle, have Ronny on the left and Yanda at RG. Now we have a slew of interior OL that can play guard or center: Urshel, Jensen, Elemenour, Siragusa. I think the OL will be fine. WR is definitely another story but I can see us reverting back to a power running game with far fewer passes. That brings the opposing defense up into the box and then we burn them deep with our outside speed on play action. You can rely mostly on Campanero and the tight end group to move the chains on 3rd and short. Just pray that we don't find ourselves in many 3rd and long situations.
  2. Also, while we may have missed out on everyone's favorite stud WR from the MAC conferencee (Corey Davis), I believe I may have found another one. Anyone with the time check out Kenny Golladay from Northern Illinois. Could be a great fit at #159 in round five.
  3. As someone who has had a history of negatively over reacting to first rounders in the past, let me start by saying I was a little shocked and confused at the Humphrey pick. The more I watched game film and learn about his athletic background (could have been a NCAA champ and Olympian in track and field) I believe this was a very solid pick. Add in the fact that Lattimore has major hamstring issues while Humphrey has been very durable and I'm betting the Raven's FO feels like they just got the #1 CB in the draft. There is still time and a lot of talent in the next 46 picks (32-78) to address the 3 major needs at OT/OG, Pass Rusher and WR. It would be foolish to try to predict what order they will come, but as long as we come away from tonight and the next 46 picks having addressed those needs I will be happy. We will still have 3 more picks on Saturday so I don't see any need to get too cute with trading picks tonight. They can use the 3 picks on Saturday to get quality depth at Center, RB and ILB. This can very much still be a great draft!
  4. What do you expect the coach to say? I think they might have a deal in place with Anquan Boldin. He won't fix all the problems, but as far as offense goes his "big pressure moment" chemistry with Joe should go a long way. Outside of that we absolutely need impact players at pass rusher and multiple at offensive line in this draft. There are a couple of scenarios where we could get one of Williams, Davis or Ross in round 1 and still fill the pass rush and O-line holes later on, but it is a gamble. I wouldn't be disappointed with taking the sure fire pass rusher in round 1. We then need to find two "Alex Lewis types" later in the draft.
  5. Alright, it's mock time! Don't think Foster will last past Bengals (9), Saints (10) and Colts (15). Here's my dream mock. Round 1 (16) - Corey Davis WR WMU Round 2 (47) - Carl Lawson DE Auburn Round 3 (74) - Antonio Garcia OT Troy Round 3 (78) - Ahkello Witherspoon CB Colorado Round 4 (110)* - Anthony Walker Jr. ILB Northwestern Round 5 (159) - Cameron Tom C Southern Mississippi Davis is a stud #1 receiver. If he makes it to 16 great. I'd actually prefer Mike Williams but he'll be gone. Lawson is a stud 5 star recruit to Auburn, has battled 2 separate major injuries but we take the gamble that he'll stay healthy and are rewarded with a double digit sack guy for the next 4 years. Antonio Garcia from Troy would be an absolute steal at #74. Would replace Wagner at right tackle right away. Witherspoon is a kind of raw player but at 6'3" 200lbs with really long arms and a 41" vertical, let's hope we can develop his skills. We have to trade up about 10 spots in the 4th to #110ish for Anthony Walker Jr, giving up our 6th round pick #186. High energy ball hawk ILB. The fact that he got a little too muscular and lost some agility drops him from a 2nd rounder in 16' to a early 4th rounder in 17', we take advantage and he returns to form. Finally I love the upside of C Cameron Tom from Southern Mississippi. Probably the most agile interior lineman in the draft, great for zone blocking scheme. Might need a year to develop and bulk up 10lbs, but after getting LT Stanley and LG Lewis last year and RT Garcia and C Tom this year (add in RG Yanda) with the right coaching and you could have a top 3 NFL offensive line for years to come.
  6. I couldn't agree more. I watched game film on Correa against 2 different Mountain West opponents and he got dominated, making literally no impact. He didn't have any burst or pass rush moves, and once an offensive lineman got his hands on him it was over, he has no get off. From the film I can't understand the buzz around him and why the Ravens would have passed on so many other proven options with that 2nd round pick. It's very confusing and my only rationale is that he must have been playing through some kind of injury in the games that I watched.....at least I hope that was the case.
  7. This development actually hurts the Ravens draft outlook in my opinion. We were poised to have far more flexibility if one of the top two QBs had slid to our spot at #6. I think in either scenario Tunsil, Ramsay and Jack will be gone and we will most likely still be choosing between Buckner and Bosa, neither of which I am crazy about having a huge impact on our team right away. If your looking at Buckner or Bosa it wouldn't have been a big deal for us to move from #6 to #15 really. Just imagine if Goff or Wentz was still there at #6 what the Rams would have given us. I think we could have moved to #15 and picked up at least the Rams #2 and #3 this year, probably not the 2017 picks they gave the Titans. Shame.
  8. Not a fan of that mock at all. They are over valuing all 3 OLB, two of which are too short and slow for the position, while ignoring the need for an ILB. The guard from Boise at the top of the 4th is way too high for an injury proned not technically sound lineman. They seem to be undervaluing the CB Canday and OT Murphy a little bit. Not to mention how ridiculous selecting Henry at #36 would be. Here's a better mock: 6. Myles Jack ILB UCLA 36. Jason Spriggs OT Indiana 70. Charles Tapper DE/OLB Oklahoma 104. Javon Hargrave DT/DE South Carolina State 130. D.J. White CB Georgia Tech 132. Spencer Drango OT/OG Baylor 134. Charone Peake WR Clemson
  9. As far as scheme vs. talent it's pretty clear that both stink. If you had to argue which is more important then again it's clear that talent is the answer. Impact players find a way to win matchups even if the scheme isn't the greatest. Its hard to go against Ozzie but this team is just not very talented. Many veterans are under performing and many young guys are not playing near the level the team hoped they would. Jimmy Smith, Steve Smith and Brandon Williams are the only impact players do their job at a high level this year and that's just not good enough. Also what is up with CJ Mosley? Not getting hardly any tackles and just got abused time and time again trying to cover Gary Barnidge. He must be playing hurt.
  10. It's a shame that the average Joe can never really know the details of those phone calls. What kind of "bonanza" were we looking for? I think, given the value of this years draft that I would have been satisfied with a swap of 1st rounders and a third and fifth rounder to move back from 17 to 28 or 30. Especially considering that you used the #17 pick on a player that will have no immediate impact for the Ravens. He maight not even start this year. I suppose it depends on wether he can beat out a player that is a year or two older but otherwise exactly like him in Arthur Brown. You guys dropped the ball big time here. Shame.
  11. The selection of C.J. Mosley will in due time send a clear message to the Ravens and eventually all other 31 teams in the NFL. Mosley may well have been the "best player available" at #17 tonight. But he was not the best player for the Ravens and more importantly he does not play a position that will impact any of games that the Ravens will play in the future in the same way that a dynamic wide receiver, shut down corner or bookend offensive tackle can. I love Ozzie. I love DeCosta and our front office. But I actually grimaced when I heard Joe Horwitz talk about Alabama getting a bad reputation for the NFL quality of their defensive players at the the Raven's draft luncheon the other day. Sorry Joe and sorry Ozzie but at what point do you have to look to Coach Saban and the system at Alabama to see that is the real value in Alabama. How many first round Alabama defenders (outside of Marcell Dareus) are complete busts at the NFL level? There were 2 players in this draft that could have possibly become Raven picks (at #17) that I dreaded. Mosley and Clinton-Dix. Products of the Alabama/Nick Saban system that have produced numerous high pick flops in the last 5 years. Lastly, and believe me, I understand best player available and the big board and all that crap, I really do; but the guy you just picked at #17 in the draft is a freakin clone of the guy that you traded up in the second round last year to pick Arthur Brown. Literally a clone. Two players rarely get so similar. You resigned Daryl Smith. SO WHY??? Why pick Mosley when Cooks was available. Why when Johnny Manziel was still on the board and I'm sure your phones were ringing off the hook with trade offers. Didn't Terence Cody teach us anything? Did Courtney Upshaw? Did Rolando McClain? I'm sorry and I know that a lot of people here will take major offense to this, but could Ozzie Newsome's downfall be his soft spot for Alabama defenders? Despite all the great picks in the past, that seems to be what is going on here. In summary....terrible pick....hate it with the white hot intensity of 1,000 suns. F- for Ozzie and the boys.
