  1. Personally, I'm not complaining about the safety position. I honestly think we had and now really have too many safeties on our roster, plus their is good safety class in the draft this year. People expect us to find another Ed Reed in the draft every time we get a safety, which isn't going to happen. Plus you said Weddle "WAS" a hell of a FS. Yeah he was a good FS. He's now 31 years old and has noticeably regressed as of late, which naturally happens when a player gets older. Everyone has their own opinion on the move so how can one of us say the move was right or wrong. We can't. Nobody can. We'll just have to see if it works out for the better or worse.
  2. 1. Most of our starters are on the team. We may get some more free agents, probably just one more free agent if that (Mike Wallace maybe). Then there is the draft and who knows if any will start yet. Our first rounders usually always start which makes no sense when a guy that was drafted later could be a good starter as well and not get a chance. We pick at 6 this year so it makes more sense to start him, but still... 2. Being a starter obviously means something. How can you tell me that we know everyone besides Hill can't be a starting safety? That's ridiculous lol. 3. I'm sorry, you called me uneducated earlier so I'm going to have to call you blind if you haven't seen any speed or flashes from Terrence Brooks. Elam has flashed as well. That statement is 100% false. Period. Don't know what happened to him in 2014, but are we just going to give up on a young first round safety because of one bad year where he was put a positions he wasn't used to playing like corner, etc. Come on man. Obviously...
  3. I was just saying that the Eric Weddle signing may not have been the best choice though. Also, if we're comparing a Ruth's Chris filet to an Outback one, I'd say that Eric Weddle is possibly a little better quality, but overpriced lol.
  4. Doesn't mean it was the best choice though.
  5. Everyone is technically a potential starter, but some players have more than others and have been invested in for a reason (draft picks, contracts). For example, I don't even mention Anthony Levine because he is a ST guy just like Trawick was. The other guys I mentioned have true potential to be starting safeties in the NFL. I don't see much potential from Lewis being a good starting safety in the league, but he has started several years for some reason. On the other hand, how have you not seen anything on the field from Brooks or even Elam as a matter of fact. You must not watch all the games or you just don't want to admit that they've flashed potential in their small amount of playing time. Even if we signed Weddle for 2-years $13M I would still care. That contract doesn't really change my opinion at all. Also, you wouldn't have 90 potential starters. We have to get down to a 53-man roster no matter what. Yeah those players have potential, everyone does, but that's just how the NFL works. The players I'm mentioning are in a whole entire different category than most of the players who don't make the 53-man roster. These guys are high draft picks that have shown potential or experienced starters already. Plus not everyone is a potential starter. For example, Joe Flacco is a for sure starter along with many others on our team.
  6. This is basically what I think about this move as well. I agree with everything you said.
  7. So you're saying you know every Ravens fan opinion on this topic. LOL I doubt it. You also are saying I'm uneducated lol. Yep I'm very uneducated thanks... lol. Ok, let me just say I really don't like Kendrick Lewis. I don't think he is a starter, but I put him as a "potential starter" for us or another team because he has started basically his whole career. Webb hasn't played much safety at all in his career, but he's started a bunch in his NFL career, played some safety in college/NFL, and was supposed to be our starting safety before this signing. Brooks and Elam were both high draft picks and were drafted to be "potential starters" and have shown what they could potentially become one day. They have both dealt with injuries and I think our coaches, mostly Dean Pees, has held them back along with the rest of our guys like Will Hill. You all act like Will Hill was incredible last year. He wasn't, he was just decent and played the best out of him and Lewis (which isn't hard lol). Btw I'm a Gators fan so it's not like I hate Hill lol. I think he can be a great safety if put in the right position. I'm sure we will make some cuts before the 53-man roster. Hill and Weddle seem like the starters now. Lewis should be gone 100% which leaves 5 guys. Webb's contract is way to big for a safety at his age even though he could be a good safety for us like he was supposed to be before this move. Brooks should be here because he has two more years on his deal, he is at least a good special teams player for us, and hes got potential to be a starter for us if he stays healthy and gets a fair chance. Elam still has potential to be a starter. I know it hasn't looked good since his rookie year, but he was a first rounder for a reason. I don't know what happened his sophomore year, but coaching/scheme could've been part of it. Then he had the unfortunate injury last year which we can't blame him for. Maybe now you can all understand what I'm saying and stop bashing me by calling be uneducated, etc. If you still don't understand what I'm saying then whatever. You guys aren't GM's or anything lol so you can think I'm stupid or whatever. I just gave you all my thoughts on this move and wanted to put it out there to relieve some of my disappointment. I've posted just about everything I need to say relating to this topic so yeah there ya have it.
  8. Lol... so you're saying those guys have no chance to become starters? 2 of them (Lewis & Webb) have started a bunch in their careers and could be our starting safeties (Don't think Lewis is a starter even though teams have started him). Webb was supposed to be our guy ever since we switched him and everyone including our gm/coaches liked his potential at safety. Then we have two younger guys in Elam and Brooks who have dealt with injuries, small playing time, and in my opinion bad coaching. Elam showed some nice things when he started his rookie year as a first round pick, but then idk what happened. Then Brooks has dealt with injuries and minimal playing time due to more experienced guys over him. Plus how can you say they are all camp bodies lol?! Webb, Lewis, Brooks, and Elam are just simply camp bodies. LOOOOL.
  9. I think Will Hill could possible leave next year when his contract is up and Brooks could take over as the SS. Even the coaches said they like him better at that spot. You guys who are hating on Brooks need to stop. He's never had a large enough amount of playing time to truly show that he's bad as you all say he is. First of all, none of our safeties played good last year. Hill was the best, but he was very average. I think that coaching (Dean Pees) is part of the issue with these guys, but with Brooks you gotta give him some time. He's only a 2-year safety who has dealt with bad injuries and is still learning some things about the position as well as improving his weaknesses. In much less playing time, he has shown more potential than Elam who has started an entire year and more where he really hasn't shown anything great, but I still wouldn't say Elam is a terrible player. He had a decent rookie year and went first round for a reason. I do think Elam needs to go to another team at this point since it's his last year on the contract and our logjam at safety, but Brooks should get a shot at replacing Hill if he leaves next year.
  10. I don't have a question. I was just letting you all know how I felt about the move. We have Will Hill who is already locked into a starting safety spot along with 4 guys who are trying to start with him. Then we add Weddle which locks him into the other starting safety spot, leaving 4 guys who could possibly start for us. We can't have 4 backup safeties with starting potential. That's just impossible. I thought we already had too many safeties before this signing, plus the draft coming up with a good safety class. So I don't like how we go out and sign a 31-year old guy to a 4-year $26M contract who is regressing in his career and we lose out on a comp pick as well. Why can't we ever develop a safety like other teams. We never let them learn from their mistakes (unless they're first round picks, Elam). None of our safeties played good last year. Not even Hill really. So how can we tell if these other guys are bad when they could be affected by Dean Pees coaching. Pretty sure he wasn't released... he will count against our comp picks. Look it up. Plus I'm not saying Ozzie is bad, but this is a move that I don't like.
  11. I don't like this signing and I don't care if you disagree with me. A 4-year, $26M contract for a 31-year old safety when we already have a logjam at safety?! What is Ozzie thinking? Plus we had to restructure other players deals and probably lose our comp pick because of this signing... Wow. Yeah Weddle is a good player, but I just don't understand why we would pay all that money, restructure deals, and lose a comp pick for him when we have 5 potential starting safeties already on the roster. Now we have 4 guys who have started a lot in their careers and 2 young guys that have started a little bit and have shown their potential. I guess we have given up on both Brooks and Elam as well as Webb and Lewis? Ozzie just spoke so highly of Webb at the press conference not too long ago saying he will be a great safety and then he completely contradicts that statement with this signing. Also, I guess we won't draft a safety either this year even though it's a great safety class and we could easily find another young potential starter instead of a 31-year old player for almost $7M a year. Go ahead and negative my post. I really don't care. I just wanted to let you all know how I feel about this. All I can say is... we have some moves to make with those 6 potential starting safeties on our roster. There is no way that we can keep them all.
  12. Yeah... this is why I don't like him. I really dislike his personality and I just believe there will be better options at our pick. He's overrated honestly. You guys won't agree with me, but I like Shaq Lawson over him.
  13. I was wondering what you guys think of the safety position next year. How do you think it will pan out? We have a ton of options already along with free agency and the draft coming up. I personally think we have our starters and even good depth on the team already, but I love the DB's in the draft this year, especially the safeties. Also, who knows if we sign or cut anyone in the free agency period because that is very possible and could change the whole situation.
  14. Not everyone agrees with us, but man do I love the type of player Myles Jack is. He is a special talent and probably the most talented guy in the whole draft right above Ramsey. I think he'll be a great player in the NFL if he stays healthy and keeps a good mindset throughout his career.
  15. Byron Jones is who I wanted at our pick last year and he probably should've been our pick in that draft... It's also hilarious how when we picked Perriman, they showed Byron Jones on the TV. I'll never forget that lol. Jones had a solid rookie season in Dallas and he would've been a nice addition to our secondary.
  16. It doesn't have to be both or none, but I think it should be. If we're going to let Hill go in FA then I believe we should start to rebuild that position with players much younger than Webb. We have Brooks and Elam as backups already and we will probably add some in the draft and we might even add some in the next draft. So by the end of next season we should have options if they both leave. If they end up playing good though then we may as well keep them both I guess. Maybe one plays good and one plays bad, who knows. It all just depends on how they perform this season.
  17. It's either Webb and Hill stay for another couple of years or they are both gone by the end of next season. We'll just have to see what happens.
  18. Hopefully this is what the secondary looks like to start the year. Although, I would like to see someone on the team take Webb's spot sometime during the season. Webb could end up being a good safety, but even if he is, he won't be the long-term answer. His body is beat-up from all the injuries and his level of play is falling of season by season. I honestly want him to restructure his contract because I think he's getting paid too much for a safety of his caliber (which we haven't even seen much of yet). Do you guys think we could end up cutting him this off-season? I think there is a small chance, but I don't see it happening in the end.
  19. We need to cut Lewis, no question. He is not the future and it's time to rebuild the safety position on our team. Webb will be gone soon and possibly Hill, so we're probably going to need to find two new starters by the end of next season. I agree that Webb is being paid way to much for the level of play that he's at in his career, especially as a safety now. I sadly agree that Ramsey won't last until our pick, but we can pray for it. The safety class is solid this year though and we could find a potential starter outside of the first round of the draft.
  20. Definitely wouldn't sign him. We have good depth and a lot of potential starters on our roster now and we have the draft coming up where we can get a young guy for a cheap price. Moore is 30 years old by the way and isn't really needed. He could end up being worse than Kendrick Lewis, you never know. Only thing I agree with is that we should cut Lewis this off-season. We need to accept the fact that he was a terrible signing and release him which would actually save another one million in cap room I think. No way Elam should be cut, he was a first round pick and showed potential in his rookie year, don't know what happened in his sophomore year, and then obviously the injury last season. With Webb and Hill already starting and Elam and Brooks as backups for now, we don't need to sign any one at safety. Drafting one or possibly even two should definitely happen though. Webb will be gone soon and Hill may not be re-signing after next season. We need to re-build the safety position on our team and with Elam/Brooks and/or the guys we get in the draft this year should hopefully become our future starters.
  21. I say we start him at corner if we end up drafting him and then move him around at different positions throughout the season to see what all he can do. Will Hill and Webb are our starters as of now, but they could both be gone by the end of next season which would make us have to find two new starting safeties and Ramsey could possibly be one of them.
  22. I like the whole idea of putting a safety in at linebacker, especially when you have a lot of safety depth on the team, but I just don't think we should draft Ramsey at #6 and then play him at linebacker instead of in the secondary. I would rather put Ramsey in the secondary and move Hill or Brooks to linebacker if we were going to do something like that. Not saying Ramsey can't play linebacker for us, but he just has so much potential to be a great secondary player and we really need one of those. I think Darian Thompson is a good player too. I wouldn't say he's underrated anymore though. He was a couple months ago, but he seems to be moving up the draft boards a lot. For the picks we have now, the only one I see us getting him at would be our second rounder and he might even end up going first, you never know. Plus if we get Ramsey, then I definitely don't see us going with back-to-back db's. If we don't get him though then it's possible. I honestly think this safety class is really good this year, and I would wait until the 4th or 5th round to take a safety. I've mentioned them before, but I would like to get Tyvis Powell from Ohio State or the local guy, Sean Davis from Maryland. Also, I agree that we need to find not one, but two new starting safeties. We all know Webb doesn't have much longer with us, and Will Hill's contract is up next year. I think we let Hill go like we do with other players and find new guys through the draft, which might be the ones from this year's draft.
  23. I don't think we should draft Ramsey to play LB for us. First of all, he's only 6'1 / 200 which would be a really small linebacker and I just think he would be a much better asset to have in the secondary. He should either end up being one of our starting outside corners or a FS/SS in my opinion.
  24. He's so versatile that we may as well just call him a defender lol. He can play all over the field on defense.
  25. I think he's at the top of our board too. Hopefully he drops to us and we put him at corner and even try him out all over the field. It would be cool to see him and Brooks reunite too. We also have Timmy J. on the team. I want Ramsey to be a corner and all, but I think it would be cool to see him and Brooks be our starting safeties one day. They are both very athletic and aggressive players that bring an attitude like you said. Also, I think they could build some great chemistry together and become a really good safety duo for us. I agree that we have respect for Webb with what he's done for us and we'll probably end up keeping him at least for next season. Also, I hope we end up drafting a safety and get Ramsey as well. This is my favorite safety class since I've started really scouting players a couple years ago. I want to get either Sean Davis or Tyvis Powell in the 3-5 round range. Both those guys could end up starting one day and would add great depth for a mid round pick. Hopefully we take one and don't mess up like last year when we took Tray Walker over my boy Adrian Amos who starts for the Bears already. I want to see Lewis gone. We'll save around 1m from cutting him and could probably even find someone for that price that can play as good lol. I hope we can get Levine back though, because he's a good special teams guy and a good locker room guy to have.
