Nothing here, just more mindless Harbaugh speak. I've always hated Pees' unimaginative and bland defense, so I don't know if plugging in couple of rookies and a new safety in the same scheme is gonna make that much of a difference. The very best I can do is wait and see.

you should ask the OC I'll ask Harbaugh because he hires his coordinators. Apparently John is not an offensive or even a defensive guy, for that matter, but he has to be able to hire a guy with a system that works. He has to make that assessment, because when it fails, or succeeds, it all comes back to him.

I agree with some of what you wrote. I'm not gonna take Weddle's word (or anybody's for that matter) that we have a 'special' secondary when we're yet to see them play. I can make the same declaration for any other positions on our team, with the help of some optimistic talk and hopeful proclamations, but it doesn't mean jack till they take the field and show it. Did I write Carr off based on what Cowboy fans say? No. I said I'll judge for myself. If anyone finds my 'show me' approach too egregious, I guess they're free to neg me.

I see the pattern; after every unsuccessful season, you pacify me by making baseless predictions of how we're going 'all the way' the next season. How do you know this? Where are the drastic changes that'll guarantee this turnaround? You're just gonna set me up for more disappointment with all this talk of greatness with a below average team, huh? Ok.

Who gives a rats what Weddle has to say. I'm not falling for any more hype job. I'll be the judge of how great the secondary is after I see them on the field. Can Jimmy Smith be better than average and stay healthy, would Carr be different from the guy Cowboy fans call "used carr", would Tony Jefferson impress? Time would tell, but there is no need to prematurely get our hopes up with rubbish talk of 'greatest secondary' when they've shown us nothing.

Man, I remember when the Ravens used to churn out crazy home grown talent...the caliber of coaches we had then were great for player development.

Webby had some real good years in there, and was a significant part of some real good Ravens defenses, before the injuries started to bite. Thanks for the memories....always a Raven in my book.

You have hit the nail on the head, Rav'n Maniac. From another RavenManiac, I couldn't agree more. Of course, there is Cry Baby Brady, but, as you say, the Real difference between the Cheatriots and the Ravens is the HCs and the rest of each team's coaching staff. As much as it hurts to say it, Bill Belicheater is the best HC in football by a wide margin. And Harbaugh, in this fan's opinion, really has ridden the coat tails of, mainly, Ray Lewis. I don't think that his early success can be attributed to his skills as a coach. How much success has he had since Ray retired? Not much. Nothing but facts.

Zuttah was definitely an upgrade from the last couple of centers we had after Birk retired. I didn't think he played well last season, but this season he played much better. The problem is when he gets beat, boy does he get beat...it looks so bad to see him tossed aside that you forget all the mostly solid snaps he has logged. He has a little nasty streak, and looks to deliver some punishment down the field on running plays, which I like.

I see what you're saying, they're playing the gaps on run plays, but on obvious passing downs, against 1-on-1 matchups, our D-linemen give us absolutely nothing. Even in a 3-4 scheme there's got to be some pressure up the middle.

Lack of pass rush is a real killer in this passing league. When push comes to shove, this might be the Ravens most glaring weakness. The Ravens secondary is serviceable(certainly not excellent) if it's complimented by any semblance of a pass rush...the offense, when healthy, might not be potent, but it's also serviceable. When Flacco is not in dump-off mode, we can generate a decent rushing and passing attack...but we're plagued by a tendency to settle for too many FGs. However, the Ravens pass rush is truly lifeless. It's not even what's coming off the edge as many think...the fact that there's absolutely no push up the middle is a serious deficiency. Our D-linemen are not disruptive at all, they're far too easily stone-walled by the opposition, and this goes for every single one of them. Something has to be wrong in the techniques and schemes cos' those guys as a unit(to me) are the weakest link on the entire team. Heck, the guys on the edges would get more sacks if they can generate any pressure up the middle. They also struggled when we went up against really good running teams. I'm not even going to pretend like I know what the solution is, it just shocks me when I watch D-linemen on other teams wrecking havoc and ours stand there like mannequins for the most part.
