  1. For me, it hasn't necessarily been about just the W or L. I can live with any outcome as long as I am convinced that the players played with complete intensity and determination for 60 min, and the coaches were aggressive and creative with the play calling. I applaud the effort of the Ravens against the Steelers, whatever struggles they had was certainly not due to a lack of desire. Unfortunately. it took the threat of going 0-4, combined with the Steelers rivalry on prime-time to ignite the much needed sense of urgency. This is what frustrates me the most. Had the same tenacity emerged in the first 3 games, at least 2 of those games would have been won convincingly. Now the Ravens have legitimate injury concerns, there's still a lot that needs to be polished on both sides of the ball, but if the sense of urgency of last week is duplicated weekly, we'll emerge with the W more often than not.
  2. You think the Steelers care that Suggs is out? Shut up and go win the game Joe!
  3. Never liked the energy of the Ravens since Harbaugh took over, but hey, they managed to squeeze out victories out of some terrible performances frequently. All prior set standards and expectations were discarded....a SB was won and it seemed like all was well. However, the handwriting has been on the wall for a few years. The Ravens were no longer ferocious, heck they could no longer play a complete football game with great effort from beginning to end, as sleep-walking through stretches of games then trying to pull out the miracle at the end now became the norm. The Ravens became a team that could get up for the Steelers game or some other big game, and then completely disappear in other games, to the amazement of the pundits. They always needed an additional emotional boost or they weren't showing up. For two seasons in a row, the Ravens offense maintained a pattern of not showing up in the first halves, then turning it on in the second halves. These anomalies, we all endured, as long as they got enough wins to get in the playoffs. Well, the chickens have come home to roost. What we see now is a culmination of everything Harbaugh has brought to the Ravens. A soulless team with no fire and tenacity. Indeed Harbaugh seems to have an abhorrence for the trademark Ravens prideful and emotional players, who might challenge his leadership. What about Harbaugh's coaching hires? Well, in my estimation, it was nothing short of nepotism that led him to hire his father's buddy(Greg Mattison)out of college as our DC, and I won't be surprised if same is the case with the rest of his staff. It's all wrong with this team, and these are not the Ravens I know and love.
  4. I don't care who you play in Pees schemes, they won't have much success. Sitting back in that useless zone covering empty spaces, just means there would be 4 players standing around to tackle the receiver after he makes the catch. I thought the nfl was a copycat league, why are the Ravens still stuck in this useless scheme for years now. All of the better defenses in the nfl are pressure defenses, simple. If they have to commit more guys to get the pressure home, that is a chance they are willing to take often. Rex Ryan used to send Bart Scott up the middle on almost every play(run or pass), that's how he got 9.5 sacks in 2006 as an inside linebacker. I absolutely hate everything about Pees philosophy which he's trying to defend here. Your guys in coverage would always have more success if the QB is being pressured, even if they're in one-on one coverage. It doesn't matter if you drop 8 people back there, the receivers would always get wide open if you give the QBs all day. Surprise, surprise, we got Peyton off his game when shockingly we decided to come after him with constant pressure. It's time to stop playing scared on defense around here. Linebackers are so far off the line of scrimmage, DBs would give a 10 yard cushion on 3rd and 5....we're so afraid of getting beat deep that we'll let you catch everything in front, and still end up scoring. What Pees has us playing is not defense, he needs to stop blaming the players because they are doing all they can possibly do in this prevent-like defense of his. Let the defense attack, let them fly around and be disruptive, if every know and then they get beat deep(happened with the great Ravens defenses of old)that's ok and a chance you're willing to take. Beats having teams march up and down the field on every drive. I'm entirely sick of watching this nonsense, and it just didn't start last game.
  5. I don't wanna hear Harbaugh's yapping. If we're serious about winning, we'd have fired Pees long time ago. Harbaugh I don't trust, but have Biscotti and Ozzie completely lost their bearing too? Get Pees outta here please!!!
  6. Monroe, what a terrible investment.
  7. As good as Ray Lewis? I'll be pleasantly shocked. I don't believe Mosley can be as good as Ray, and it's not a knock on him. Ray played way too many years, and because he was still very good towards the end(no where close to his prime) many seem to remember him for these later years. In his prime, Ray Lewis was widely regarded as the best player in the NFL across all positions, in QB dominated league. A 2003 poll of all 32 NFL head coaches had Ray overwhelmingly voted as the best NFL player. I love Mosley's play, but I just can't see him attaining that Ray Lewis level of dominance. It's not even fair to the young fellow to place such expectations in him.
  8. I'm assuming you're speaking of Webbie. Yeah, the injuries hit him after he got the big pay day. There's a reason he got the big bucks, and all the fans around here were excited that he got the deal....a testament to his great play prior to the injuries. Without a doubt, McAlister was the best we've seen at corner for the Ravens. He's up there with the best of the Ravens greats.
  9. Samari Rolle wasn't very good on the Ravens. Cary Williams was a knucklehead, but I'll take him over Rolle any day, going by their performances on the Ravens. And where in the world is Webbie on the list? He might be a shell of himself now, but he put together some impressive seasons around here.
  10. It's his entire philosophy on defense that I don't like. It's a very reactionary approach that doesn't believe in taking chances to force the offenses hand(and people wonder why turnovers are scarce), but would react to whatever offenses do and then try to limit it. Haloti even alluded to this when he got to Detroit. The ole' 'bend but don't break' aka let them move the ball up and down the field as long as they don't get the TD approach....anybody can pass on the Ravens in the middle of the field, we'll give you that, then hope to limit you to FGs in the red zone. You might be right, it could be just the personnel, but I think it's a combination of both. We've had some success with this conservative approach, but when it really counts, down the stretch, when you absolutely need a stop in a close game, it has failed more often than not.
  11. Getting ready to start my yearly fire Pees campaign. At some point he has to take some blame for this crappy defense....Pees does a good job of staying out of sight.
  12. It would be nice to have some home playoff games. Anyway, I'm resolved not to let Flacco make me hypertensive this season as the unpredictable play of the Ravens in the regular season can be quite unnerving. In the playoffs, they tend to present a more consistent effort as Playoff Joe dons his cape and delivers justice across the land.
  13. I'm glad we're getting this wake up call.
  14. Lolol get all the bad plays out now. As long as no one is injured I'm cool. D-line does seem to be lining up too wide, from what I'm used to seeing.
  15. Somebody's gonna be Dancing With the Stars if he keeps this up.
  16. Sizzle is truly the Last General. A true embodiment of Raven badness.
  17. Can't forget Dan Cody. He was a 2nd round pick too.
  18. Crap!I've been itching to see what this guy can do. Even if it was just preseason, I wanted to see him in game action. I think he was injured in college, then last year, and now this injury. I've seen this movie before, and I don't wanna see it again.
  19. Aiken always looked like a complete receiver to me, hope to see him doing his dance in the end zone a lot more this season. I hope Gilmore can get it done at TE, cos' Flacco sure likes to go to his TE. Pitta was a Flacco favorite, and towards the end of last season he was going to Owen Daniels a lot for the tough catches.
  20. Hill and Lewis tandem at Safety should be a good one, but I'm gonna be patient and see how they gel on the field.
  21. Why did the Ravens even bother to release a statement? It's just taking the heat of the Cheatroits, and drawing unnecessary attention to us.. It's of no use if the Ravens tipped the Colts off or not, what difference does it make? The cheaters got caught and Brady destroyed his phone. Last time, when Spygate occurred, the Cheaters tried to hide behind Mangini and the Jets calling the attention of the league to their cheating.
  22. SSS, keeping it real since 1979.
  23. Looking at past Ravens, I'll hate to fight anyone on the 2000 Ravens D. . .they all played like complete psychos. Orlando Brown, Bart Scott, Bernard Pollard, Haloti Ngata, Anquan Boldin, were all some tough dudes.
  24. Heck I'll let Canty go to make sure DeAngelo Tyson is on the squad.
  25. Yeah, the media might malign the Ravens, and the Ravens might use that as motivation, but the Ravens haven't been able to sneak up on anyone for years. This team has a well-earned reputation for being tough, and other teams sure get up to play the Ravens. Nothing new.
