I'm surprised no one is picking Mike Williams as their want. He's definitely up there for me.

I just don't think he'll be anywhere near pick 16. Though I'd run up to the podium to pick him if he still is. I went with Barnett as the preference since I could potentially see him sliding to our pick. Really, any of Barnett, Mike Williams, or Corey Davis would be a no brainer.

Has anyone seen any details on this?  I haven't found any clarification yet.  Does this mean you can't intentionally run out of bounds?  No spiking the ball? What?

Since this is said right after "Unsportsmanlike conduct will now be called if you commit multiple fouls during the same down designed to manipulate the game clock. " I think it's purely about stopping the offense from committing penalties on purpose to run out the time. Basically what we did against Cincy.

A 3rd would be the least that I would take, because we have a decent chance of landing a 3rd as a comp pick in the 2019 draft and still have him in the field this year on the cheap.  I'd rather keep him, but that's me.

He's not going to give us a 3rd comp pick. KO did only because he became one of the highest payed players at his position and made the probowl.

  4. Wasn't expecting to go this offense heavy, but I'd be pretty happy with a draft like this.

    16: R1P16
    EDGE DEREK BARNETT
    TENNESSEE
    47: R2P15
    WR CHRIS GODWIN
    PENN STATE
    78: R3P14
    C PAT ELFLEIN
    OHIO STATE
    99: R3P35
    OT WILL HOLDEN
    VANDERBILT
    122: R4P15
    WR AMARA DARBOH
    MICHIGAN
    159: R5P15
    CB DAMONTAE KAZEE
    SAN DIEGO STATE
    186: R6P2
    CB SHAQUILL GRIFFIN
    UCF

True, our list of visits always appears pretty strange. TBH I know nothing about staples

Basically he's tall (6'3") with a great wingspin and is capable of snaring in off target passes pretty well, which he had to do a lot. He's also got good speed, and isn't afraid of contact. And the Louisville coaches rave about his work ethic and leadership. Though he needs to work on his functional strength and route running, which is why he's considered a third rounder. He has the upside to be a good number 2 receiver.

Strange list. I could see us snagging kazee in the 3rd for sure though. But Brantley and taco? A bit surprising. Taco doesn't strike me as an Ozzie type of pick

I think Taco is one of those covering all of our bases type of things. Just checking in with him just for the sake of making sure we didn't miss anything.

I really like that the Ravens looked at Jamari Staples. He could be a really good value pick.

You think that's worth it for us though? I mean it's worth it sinc he's likely gone anyway, but I feel like a simple 5 spots in the second is not big and seems like the deal is missing something

Five in the second round can be pretty big, especially for a player that is likely in his last year for us anyways. It gives us a better shot at grabbing a sliding talent. As stacked as this draft is at certain positions, moving up five spots in the second could land us a really good player. Like a Zay Jones, TJ Watt, Charles Harris, Adoree Jackson, or Sidney Jones. The big thing is that it puts us ahead of the Colts and Saints who'll be looking for similar types of players as us on defense.

  8. I think New Orleans could be a good trade target since they really need defenders and probably have the cap room to give Jernigan a multiyear deal. They could be willing to swap 2nd round picks to get him. Moving up five picks in the 2nd gives us a good shot at any sliding talent.

  9. Every year some players will go well before they probably should, likely do to their athletic ability. So, which guys do you think will be reached for in the first?

For me the main guy that stands out is Patrick Mahomes II. I get that the guy is a hell of an arm. but his mechanics need to be rebuilt from the ground up, and he throws a lot of passes off his back foot. He could be Brett Favre-esque in having bad mechanics but somehow still gets the job done, or he could easily be the next in a long list of QBs with strong arms that failed in the NFL (like the Ravens' own Kyle Boller). Even in the second round, you'd need a lot of faith in your QB coach to bring in Mahomes.

I don't think anyone's against the idea of drafting a first round tackle per se - I think it's more that there aren't any first round tackles that seem worth the 16th pick in the draft or who would be the BPA at any point

Yep. I'm all for shoring up the o-line and making a great o-line a top priority. But I just don't see a tackle worth picking at 16. If we went o-line in the first I'd want to trade back for Feeney or Lamp.

    NC STATE
    99: R3P35
    WR AMARA DARBOH

    HOUSTON
    187: R6P2

I didn't want to grab another top interior lineman after Feeney but I couldn't pass on Elflein in the fourth. Could just try Feeney out at RT while Elflein plays center for the team.

Just now reading bout the Jernigan stuff here but are you saying you want to trade our original pick plus Jernigan to move up a couple spots? I do have to say Ozzie like those deals lol but I'd be against that considering he could have a heck of a year and we could gain a good comp. I believe if Jernigan is traded tho it'd be a player for player move.

Yeah, basically. Like, our 3rd and Jernigan to go up like ten spots. Or something along those lines. The problem is, either Jernigan under performs again and others don't want him, or he does well in his contract year and we can't afford him. It seems like a lose lose situation. Also we got some other young d-linemen recently and could get another in this draft, so I don't think we lose that much by using him in a trade.

  13. 1st round: I'm completely fine with this pick. I'd rather take Davis if he's on the board, but with Barnett gone, Williams would be my number second option.

2nd: Juju could be a good chain moving WR, but I think this is too early for him. If the Ravens go WR in the second and Zay Jones is gone, I'd sooner pick Chris Godwin.

3rd: I think it's a bit too early for him. He seemed more like a fourth rounder prospect, or possibly late third. Though it's not a bad pick. I think he could be a starting RT in his rookie year.

3rd comp: I like this pick. Jernigan is possibly on his way out and the other guys aren't the best at stopping the run. Someone that can stuff the run and get penetration is exactly what the Ravens need at 3-4 DE.

4th: I've been a fan of his for awhile and mentioned him as a pick for us like half a year ago. The Ravens are looking for physical, mean-streak blockers so we might as well get a RB in the same mold. The thing I like about Perine is that he does have enough speed to turn an opening into a big run. Not a fifty yard td kind of big run, but a solid fifteen to twenty yards before getting brought down. As much as I like Dixon, it would be good to have an insurance policy due to him missing a lot of time so far.

  14. I think between Davis and Williams, I have to go with Williams. Williams can do just about everything Davis can, but can also stretch the field on top of that. While Davis can make the occasional big catch downfield, it's not something you want to use him for often.

Can somebody give me some tackles to scout NOT named one of the following:

    Cam Robinson

    Ryan Ramcyzk

    Taylor Moton

    Forest Lamp

    Garret Bolles

    Dion Dawkins

    Julien Davenport

Sometimes I need some other tackle to put in my mocks that's a mid round tackle that will be around in the 4th that's halfway decent with some upside.

    Brad Seaton, Villanova

    Michael Dunn, Maryland

Dunn seems like he could be a good UDFA to compete for the RT spot.

I like him a lot too, but i didnt realize how thin he is. I think he's only like 175-180 lbs. At 6'1" he may have to bulk up a little to deal with bigger NFL WRs or hes gonna get bodied all day, and could deal with durability concerns.

I mean people talk about Sidney Jones light frame and having some concerns there about him playing on the outside, but Wilson's taller and lighter.

But i do agree, as a developmental guy theres a lot to like. And being in a NFL program he will probably be able to add 15 lbs no problem.

Yeah. He's coming out of college early so he's not as physically developed as a lot of other DBs. But he should be fine after some time in an NFL weight room.

  17. Howard Wilson is the corner I really want the Ravens to grab in the late 3rd or 4th. I think after a year of being eased into the lineup he could become a starter for us. He just seems to have a ton of natural talent.

oh im worried too but of all the positions to be worried about, the ravens always seem to find ways to fill RT and ILB - i dont know how they'll do it, and you may be right and they do bring in ramcyzk (although id be surprised) but they have to play someone there so theyll bring someone in or itll be someone on the roster already - im kind of excited about it being an unknown guy like wagner was though

Knowing the Ravens' history it'll probably end up being some undrafted RT that becomes our starter, and does pretty well.

The thing with those two guys - pipe dreams most likely.

I think Davis could drop to us thanks to Ross rising. If Ross is the 2nd receiver taken, then Davis likely slides since not as many top teams need WRs this year.
