  1. Same here. He was one of the top guys I was thinking of for my next pick. Well, I guess him being gone narrows it down a bit for me.
  2. I was reworking my list of OLBs last night and thought about Hali, but figured he must have been picked by now.
  3. So the Ravens have gone from not enough weapons on offense to possibly too many, a good problem to have mind you. But it's now a situation where some touch decisions have to be made before the season itself starts. I'm going to guess that the Ravens only have 5 receivers on gameday. Safe bets: There are 3 receivers that'd really have to screw up to lose their their active spots: SSS, Perriman, and Aiken. Marlon Brown: A good number 3 guy and quality depth. However, he does tend to get outshined by more aggressive receivers. There's a reason he wasn't used as often last season. Camp and Aiken just proved that they should be in the rotation more than him. He has the inside tract for being kept as one of the main group of active receivers, but it's by no means safe. Campanaro: Very talented slot receiver that did seem to be on the same page as Flacco last season. But there's one little problem, he has a hard time staying healthy. All the talent in the world doesn't help if you can't regularly be in the game. Waller: He's got two things in his favor: he was just picked in the draft, and his size. He could be intriguing if he shows that he can out play guys on jump balls in the endzone. There aren't many corners that can beat a 6'6" receiver for a jump ball. Wildcards: Then you have the two wildcards in the mix. First is Butler, who got hurt during preseason last year. He has respectable size, speed, and will fight for the ball. He could be everything the Ravens wanted from Doss. Then there's DeAndre Carter, a guy who seems to be built in the same mold as SSS. I remember one quote about him (from his Coach I think) saying that he's a 5'8" receiver that plays like he's 6'5". He's also a good special teams player, as he was a gunner for the punting squad. And he could potentially be a solid returner. The coaches could be in store for a very tough decision or two come the start of the season.
  4. Going back to the issue of taking rookies over proven players for a second, there is one other rookie I could fully support taking over veterans; if for no other reason than it's at a position where players usually get worn down pretty quickly.
  5. Yeah. If we don't hear a peep out of them by their third skip, we should just give the team to someone else.
  6. Guys, is there any reason to keep this debate going? No since in dominating the discussion thread with this.
  7. I voted to be more forgiving, but I'd say only if they still make their pick before they're up again. If we haven't heard a peep out of them for going on two rounds, then skip 'em or shorten their time.
  8. I was thinking of a few different players with my pick, but the free safety position is very thin, and Rashad Johnson is a safety that just seems to get better every season.
  9. With the 276th pick, The Homers select: Rashad Johnson, Free Safety
  10. Urschel pick is definitely based on potential, but I think it could pay off for him. Urschel did great when he filled in at guard during the season. He was the starting guard in the playoffs against the Steelers and Patriots, and did very well. I think he actually would be the starting guard for a lot of teams in the NFL. It's just that he's on the team with KO and Yanda ahead of him.
  11. The Legion of Boom and the 2000 Ravens are probably the best examples of what happens when you combine a great pass rush with a great secondary.
  12. But the Seahawks had the best secondary in the league. Because guys like Sherman could jam receivers and stay right on their hip, it made it impossible to get rid of the ball early.
  13. And that top scoring defense couldn't protect two 14 point leads when it mattered most. Even with a god-tier front seven, I don't want to test a horrible secondary against someone like Brady or Rodgers in the playoffs.
  14. I'm not so sure of that. Look at the Ravens last season. Two of the absolute best pass rushers in the NFL, great core of young linemen, Mosely's breakout rookie season, but yet the defense still got torched at times because of the horrible secondary. Tom Brady flat about abused the Ravens' defense.
  15. Bulaga was one of the right tackles I wanted. Good pick. Zuttah is a solid pick too. Not the best, but he is serviceable and seems to have good awareness.
  16. I'm glad I got my center early. Some of the other positions are still full of talent, but good luck finding a good center at this point. If you got top end guards, you might be able to mask a weak center though.
  17. Heh, I swear my picks get negged nearly as much as JoeyFlex's does. Actually, the last picks in the draft seem unpopular.
  18. When it comes to Mebane, I'll quote Richard Sherman: "He's an incredibly technical player in his movements and everything he does. He's rarely out of position and he's rarely out of the play. You rarely see a defensive tackle running making tackles on the sideline, or [making] tackles on screen plays. He does all that. But once again, he's overlooked because I guess he's not a big sack-total guy. He's just a guy that does his job incredibly well week in and week out." He's one of the most underrated linemen in the league, and I love how quick he is off the snap.. Him and Williams will give me a pair of athletic, high motor maulers in the middle.
  19. With the 238th pick in the draft, The Homers select: Brandon Mebane, DT
  20. Thankfully the guy I want to pick is at a position that I know Truth won't be selecting from.
  21. He went offline about a half hour before City made his pick. I think Truth is gone for the night.
  22. Verner was on my board too. Good pick.
  23. I think I found pretty good value in Bushrod this late. He's not young, but he's not too old either, he's been a solid starter at LT for awhile. Take from his profile on the Bear's site:
  24. With the 211th pick, The Homers select: Jermon Bushrod, LT
  25. I think worries about Fitzgerald's age are a bit overblown. He's still probably got a good four years left in him, if you give him a QB that can actually get the ball to him.
