So when do we have the cap to get back into contending for Lombardi again?

With the projected increase of 11-15 million cap increase, I would say it's very likely. It will take some creative contract restructuring, position drafting, releases, etc. but they'll get if done. The question is if we want to go for it in 2017 (max it out) or under invest and conserve cap to re-position for 2018 (scale-back).

I hope we go for broke. We're just a few players away from competing to winning it all.

Not sure how u would define, a few...but the Ravens are in need of play makers on both sides of the ball. We badly overpaid Joe as well as others over the years. But when u spend like the Ravens do u need to have really good draft classes year after year, we've had some painful misses there. Ravens dead money is/was always too high. Coaching is a problem from Harbs on down. The penalty problems alone speak volumes abt the Ravens coaches and the quality of players we have. 10% are bad calls I'll admit that but thats w every team. Harbs is at a turning point in his career w the Ravens and both know it.

When Joe starts throwing better then I will take a look at Perriman but right now Joe out rights sucks.

Seriously. Joe's made about 5 good throws all year. Flacco looks worse than I've ever seen him

C'on man. Joe's made plenty of good throws. A bunch have been dropped td's included but no doubt he has his moments when u just can't understand what he sees

Had Perriman run a crisper route on the first, maybe Jets cornerback Buster Skrine wouldn’t have undercut it. Had he reached out to tip a pass that floated over his head, maybe Jets safety Marcus Gilchrist wouldn’t have picked it off.

Who knows? Maybe not. But those questions bothered Perriman.

Those questions should bother him because they aren't fair questions, both of those interceptions were just terrible throws by a QB who was gunshy all day.

Why would anyone even implicate Perriman in either interception? All Joe.

Don't give up on Perriman just yet. Essentially he is a rookie, still learning. He may come back to haunt us. The question is why can't Ozzie select a quality wide receiver. We have so many TE's on the roster and are not being used or properly used. When was the last time the Ravens used three wide receivers to spread the field. I say this again and again, coaching.

its not the WR's we select, its the stupid routes they are made to run and the lackadaisical way they run them. That's why SSS and Wallace are our best WRs. They knew how to run a route before they got here.

SSS and Wallace I'm sure r working w RP. He's gunna need game time to mature and develop. But the Ravens history w WR draft picks is dubious at best so....

Why do we always have to "coach up guys" or "speed up their learning curve". Other teams get rookies who go out and produce day 1, other than Mosley, we haven't drafted a ready to go first rounder since...since I can't even remember when. We need a change with the player personnel staff. If Ozzie isn't to blame for all these bad draft picks, then certainly the scouting staff we have has to be. And if Harbaugh has input into player decisions, Bisciotti needs to relieve him of those since he clearly has failed at choosing players and coaching them. Maybe he better concentrate on coaching and leave the player personnel side to someone else. I don't know what the problem is with draft picks, trades and free agent signings. We can't seem to do well with any of them when other teams are doing great.

After having a losing record after winning the super bowl in 2012, Bisciotti is going to have to make some sort of change in the person that decides who is or isn't drafted, who is or isn't signed and who or who not to trade for. I say make that the domain of Ozzie and lets see who is at fault. If the problem is corrected when Ozzie is in control of it all, then we know the problem, Consequently, if we still have issues and Ozzie is in full control we know where the problem is. I don't know but we have to find out soon and get it fixed because it clearly is not fixing itself. We can't win when we have players that aren't as good as other teams.

Finally, its hard to be competitive when you are paying a 60 million dollar qb 120 million dollars. He isn't good enough to make up for 60 million dollars worth of players we would have if we paid him what he is worth, not what he earned by winning the 2012 super bowl. Sorry, its a what have you done for me lately league and Flacco has done nothing since the 2012 playoff run.

Signing the woman beater to an absurd contract negatively impacted a lot of personnel decisions. Add to the fact that B. Pierce sucked it really set back the FO''s business plan to this day as evident by the product.

Don't forget overpaying Eugene Monroe and we had use our #1 on a left tackle.

    good point

    Ravens DEAD money is sickening

  5. The team was a sloppy mess in 2012 when they won a SB. Matter of fact that's a thing w the Ravens. They got hot and Joe played like a stud in the playoffs that year, but were they a "Good" team, I'm not sure. They were a winning team that year when it mattered.
Having said that, however, the injuries and penalties and lack of play makers at a bunch of skill positions doesn't bode well for this team. Every game is huge as it always is gotta start w a WIN Sunday...
Does anyone think Joe has past his prime? He doesn't look the same to me in terms of his overall play or confidence.

  6. Desperation move to shore up the Offensive Line, and one that will weaken an already shaky secondary with the loss of Carter.  Couldn't have afforded to keep him, but certainly missing KO now.

For sure. KO would've been an absolute keep except for the salary cap. Lots of others players definitely making way more than they are actually worth. Flacco is a part of that. Ravens dead money is huge as well.

Get well soon BP! Grant Hill name keeps running through my mind Smh! The Ravens have so many WRs they don't need to sign anyone else! If Joe can't win with whom we have now Mallet needs to start IM TIRED OF EXCUSES! The Ravens beat the hottest team in football with BACKUPS on Offense!

We have solid TE's IF Max and Crockett can stay on the field and three proven receivers in SSS, Aiken, and Wallace. The rest are guys who can fill any NFL roster(maybe) and have yet to prove a thing. The roster really does not strike fear into any opponent at this point in time.

Agreed. The TEs r a good group. As r the RBs. But the WRs on this team are an average group. W/o the ability to stretch the field we are gunna find it tough to do anything, especially running the ball. So w Flacco/Perriman/Smith all recovering from major injury. Lets hope the Defense finds it's way back into the top 10 or else we in trouble ppl...also our special teams should be a plus too.

  8. The two PBS NFL specials everyone needs to watch are:

    1. "A league of denial" - concussions, ESPN severed its relationship with PBS over this one, the NFL loathes this one

    2. "The unauthorized history of the NFL" - gambling - aired only one time in 1983(?), banned from airwaves, you can find it now on your favorite internet video site, the NFL wishes this one would disappear forever....

Thanks for info...i feel like the gambling thing is the next big sports scandal.  Where there's billions of dollars being spent u can be absolutely certain that there's money corrupting EVERYTHING

  9. U know what Hensley, fans spend large sums to go to a Ravens game and for the most part they've been rewarded w teams that are competitive and always have given 110%. But the undisciplined and at times poorly coached mess of a team we have this year, especially given the lousy 59 minutes of play last Sunday gives the Paying fans all the reason they need to leave early or boo or not go at all to the game. Having said all that, i do love and respect my Ravens but this years team is a serious bust...
