  1. The defense was atrocious. The only major missing piece was Suggs. There was no pressure on Wilson, despite a patchwork Seahawks O-Line, and had the secondary not been so poor and Rawls knocked out of the game, he would have easily rushed for well over 100 yds. Linebackers not tackling, and a secondary that is YET AGAIN confused, out of position and playing with poor technique. Can't fire the entire defense, so the responsibility has to lie with the coaching. Amazed the secondary coach hasn't been canned, if not Pees himself.

  2. Schaub is playing about as well as a backup QB with no starting-caliber weapons (or left tackle) can be expected to play. He made some nice throws - including the TD pass that was egregiously called bak - and absorbed some serious punishment. Both picks were off of deflections, which are not quite as bad as his at-'em ball pick six last week. Believe me, a few quarters of watching "The Pickle" play will have folks clamoring for Schaub's return.

  3. On the bright side, Ozzie ought to have a shot at re-signing KO, Upshaw, and Tucker for less than expected at the outset of the year, and Joe ought to provide some friendly terms for a re-structuring deal. Monroe will unfortunately be back. He has no trade value and cutting him would result in too much dead money.

  4. I wonder about the late hit penalty on Mosley, where the receiver went to the ground, rolled and came up. Did the whistle blow before Mosley hit him? I'm sure that, after the Arizona game, all of the Ravens players will play to the whistle regardless of whether or not a player looks like they are down.

  5. The league and the players union need to, together, take a look at two things that are negatively impacting the quality of the game; injuries and penalties. I wonder if there is a correlation between the slew of injuries (especially achilles and knees) to the pro-turf composition, lack of collegiate-style braces, "strike zone" rules, and constrained offseason workout programs. As for penalties, are the refs too old and slow, the rulebook too dense and unenforceable, and does the collective bargaining cap on offseason activities mean that the players have less skill and discipline? Either way, the game is becoming borderline unwatchable and something should be done.
