  1. Receiver was "in the vicinity"
  2. If Trestman isn't fired soon, Harbs will be at the end of the season. Kubiak was an anomaly, a front office hire forced on Harbs against his will. His "guys" Cam Cameron and now Trestman haven't panned out. Having an offense based on the run, with the QB under center, is what this team is built to do. After success in the first quarter, Trestman had Flacco in the shotgun and began to abandon what was working. Inexcusable. Can't blame Mosely for trying to score on defense after watching this putrid offensive performance. Garbage.
  3. When the OC decides to commit to the run, and do so from a running formation (not shotgun-based draws or tosses), a depleted O-Line proved they could get the job done at least against one of the worst rush defenses in the league. That tells me a few things. One, the Ravens organization drafts guys to be able to run the ball. Two, Trestman entered the game last week with a flawed, scripted game plan and stuck with it until the 3rd quarter. Three, if we come out against another bad rushing defense like Washington's like we did in the 3rd quarter last week, West and Dixon should combine for 200 yards a couple of scores, and the game will be well in hand. Let's see what happens. No excuses for a repeat of last week.
  4. Well, gee. Without Forsett, their YPC went from an average of 3.3 a game to 5.1 this past week. I guess that was improvement! Time has ALREADY told. Against the worst rush defense in the league. I'll withhold final judgement.
  5. The only thing that diminished Forsett's effectiveness was Trestman getting away from the outside stretch zone running. As a result, the entire running game sputtered. Justin can still be effective, just not so much running between the tackles and overpowering linebackers. Not his style.
  6. Of course has has a quick release - that's Trestman's dink and dunk offense coupled with no line protection. Even if he had the protection, he's often not stepping into his throws and is off-target down the field (the beautiful pass to Wallace in the opener being the glaring exception).
  7. Wonder who the Ravens coach is that KO said he was looking forward to getting back at. I suspect it was Juan Castillo, who has often been unpopular wherever he has landed.
  8. With some reflection, trying to tie together all of the little things that compounded to a loss, it comes down to coaching and preparation. 10 penalties? Coaching. Poor kick coverage? Coaching. Scheme that doesn't commit to the run early and puts a weekend O-Line in bad situations? Coaching. Failing to manufacture pressure on the QB or getting help for a CB getting torched routinely? Coaching. Coming out flat and starting slow the first half of every game? Coaching. That begins and ends with Harbs, whose seat may just be getting a bit warmer unless these trends reverse themselves.
  9. How much effort did Trestman have to put in to completely dismantle the successful system Kubiak put in? The O-Line proved it can run block, but only if the running plays are called (and not all from the shotgun, please). Kubiak proved the running game sets up play action, and keeps the QB from getting lit up. Finally, when the pass rush does come, Kubiak used sliding protections / rollouts to move the pocket and made use of more creative formations and screens to keep the defense off balance. He also allowed Joe greater flexibility to audible to adjust plays in the moment. Trestman apparently believes in none of that. He's a less effective Cam Cameron, who never deviates from an unsuccessful script. As for the defense? Sometimes Pees' bend-but-don't blitz defense pays off, but it not with Shareece Wright on the field against a good QB. Really wish we could've brought Jim Schwartz back home. Hey, maybe Pagano will be available this offseason.
  10. So we finally have a 100 yd rusher and Flacco throws for nearly 300 and we lose? Issues in all phases of the game really: Offense: O-Line was shaky all day, especially Hurst (no surprise) and Flacco again had a costly turnover Defense: NO pressure on the quarterback and Shareece Wright is a liability in coverage Special Teams: Kick coverage is terrible Coaching: Shouldn't have accepted that penalty in order to push the Raiders to 3rd and long vice 4th down. They got a TD on the series instead of a FG
  11. 4 kids already? Joe is the Marshawn Lynch of Baltimore. J.K. Congrats to the proud papa and mom. You know Joe is gonna be wrapped around her little finger!
  12. KO was great when he was healthy. The Ravens couldn't commit such a large proportion of the cap to the OG position to pay him what Oakland offered, and made the right choice in favoring Yanda. I wish KO well, except on Sunday, where I hope he gets a steady diet of Brandon Williams, Pearce, and Jernigan enroute to putting Carr on his backside.
  13. Having a big left tackle with a foot injury is a serious issue (recall Ogden's big toe injury ended his career). Kudos to Stanley for playing through it last week, but I wonder how much it compromised him; he had a rough game. Really have to question Ozzie's decision to not bring in a decent backup tackle. Options on the roster include Hurst (yikes), Lewis (rookie, concussion), or Wagner (has had some issues in pass protection on the right). Rest of the guys on the roster or PS would be RTs at best. Either way, Khalil Mack will be licking his chops...
  14. I have no problem with Ramsey. He backs up his smack talk with performance. He's still a bit green, but his brashness is something a perennial loser like JAX sorely needs. Woulda been a great Raven.
  15. No, it isn't all on Joe. The line has allowed pressure from the edges, receivers have been off on some routes and had some drops, and there is little threat of a running game. Point is, Joe is paid at a level where he should be more consistent in his ability to overcome those issues or else the offensive coordinator needs to shake things up. My biggest concern with Joe is lack of consistency with his mechanics. When he ripped off 21 in a row, he was stepping up in the pocket, stepping into his throws, and making quick decisions. In the third quarter, he was back to standing flat-footed, throwing without a step, and holding on to the ball too long.
  16. Below average Joe is accountable for all of our TDs we have scored so far this season.... Yeah, and 4 INTs including 2 in crunch time with the game on the line. We've played the cupcakes on our schedule, and can't afford these mistakes going forward.
  17. We would've lost 2 of these games last season, so I'll definitely take the W's. I am concerned about the offense, especially the moribund running game and Flacco's extreme inconsistency. We can't seem to maintain momentum or get the ball in the end zone, and the turnovers will kill us against better teams. Trestman and Joe need to make some adjustments and fast. Too many pass-catching weapons not to be putting up 30+ points per week.
  18. Flacco had a great second quarter, then he stopped stepping into his throws or step up in the pocket in the third and fourth quarters. The result was off-target throws. I think Trestman needs to add in some roll-out pass plays to help out the O-Line, and change up the look. I'm also convinced the running game woes have more to do with scheme than with a lack of talent.
  19. Chris Moore did not drop that pass, Flacco overthrew him when he was wide open. It was one of the few off-target passes that didn't go low and behind the receiver (including the under thrown ball to Perriman that Haden picked).
  20. Joe needs time and a pocket to set his feet and step into his throws, and still has trouble anticipating a receiver's break. That's why Kubiak's offense was so effective for him. Play action froze the pass rush, roll-outs created space and time for Flacco to read and set his feet, and receivers could get clearly open for Joe to deliver an almost-late pass. Face it, he needs a strong running game or else he will be a 30 TD / 20+ INT guy. Sure, he can break 4,000 yds, but the team won't have the W's to make it worthwhile.
  21. Hard to establish a running game when you're in the shotgun all day.
  22. I am really concerned with this Trestman offense. No running game, predictable formations/plays, and not playing well to Flacco's strengths (or weaknesses). Joe still seems to be off, not stepping into throws and holding the ball too long.
  23. We coulda had Honey Badger Matthieu a few years ago, but chose a strong safety with no coverage skills (Elam) instead. Elam was certainly a higher character guy, which Harbs loves, but so what? Ozzie needs to pick talent, and Harbs has to deal with personalities. That's what he gets paid for.
  24. Rest in Peace Coach. I hope your players will do you proud, as I'm sure they intend to. You were a great influence on so many.
  25. If I were the Vikings, I would've made a less costly trade offer for Mallett than paying such a high price for the injury-prone Bradford. Perhaps they wanted another QB who can't throw downfield so the WRs wouldn't get confused.
