  1. While I agree, the problem I have is that the fine and draft pick penalties are essentially the "organizational penalties". But the four game suspension for Brady isn't really an "organizational penalty"... its an individual one. It implies that Brady committed an act that warrants a four game suspension.

Last time I checked, Brady had nothing to do with SpyGate, so I highly doubt the NFL is handing down a suspension to Brady for something the organization did but he didn't partake in. So in reality, Brady is most likely being treated as a simple first-time offender of an on-field rules violation, and takes into account the fact that he may have lied.

To me, that's what makes the 4 game punishment a bit steep in my opinion, because I just don't think his personal transgression warrants that. I think the likelihood of him actually sitting four games is almost non-existent, and I wouldn't be surprised if over half or even all of the suspension is withdrawn.

Please don't defend habitual cheaters :(

And don't compare cheating millions of fans from the outcome of games to off field issues.

If a player takes PEDs then he performs better (alone) If a quarterback intentionally deflates balls then his receivers get more yards. His running backs fumble less. He has a better grip In bad weather etc...

I said this before and say this again. If the pats had 1 or 2 3rd down incompletions then the ravens would have won. The outcome of the colts game is irrelevant because the colts were cleat out prepared.

What I'm trying to say is that there is a fine line between great teams and dynasties. The pats would not have won 2 if not three superbowls without controversy.

This is a culture of playing under the belt and it's about time it gets punished. I think the NFL actually went soft. Very soft! They knew the pats cheated their way to the Super Bowl but allowed them to participate in it and somehow won it. What about that had money invested in those games? What about the legacy of other player that were changed? It's just not right.

When it comes to those draft picks. The pats will get a 3rd round comp pick for Revis. Btw they signed him to a 12 mil per year deal and counted only 7 mil against the cap. Then didn't pickup the 25mil option that we all knew they never would have and get a 3rd round pick because of it.

What about continually rolling the dice with players that have bad histories? Other teams would be held accountable. The pats get away with it! I call that a bit of karma.

The pats earned loosing a 1st and 4th round pick. Brady should be gone for at least for games. The pats cheated in the Playoffs and the NFL just pushed it under the rug. The player responsible would have been banned "suspended" from participating in the final in most other sports. Brady actually won that Super Bowl. And because he lied back then and played. He robbed the Ravens, Colts, and Seahawks from a legitimate chance to win a Super Bowls. 4 games is nothing for influencing the outcomes of games and lying about it and playing in playoff games while lying.

  2. If Perriman has 50 catches, 800 yds, and 5 TDs I'll say he had a very successful rookie season. Starter on day 1. Predicting "the best," "the most," is a fools errand.

With deep threat receivers, stats alone don't necessarily tell the full story. Torrey had a so and so season statistically but earned a huge contract. That's because he led the league in PI calls. That's 250 yards right there. He also demanded a deep safety to keep an eye on him on every play because of that big play threat. Thus, SSS and OD had single coverages all day long. Forsett also rarely faced stacked boxes because teams feared play action bombs to Torrey.

I don't care about stats when it comes to Permian. If he can force teams to gameplan against him on a weekly bases then we are set! If he gets shut down by single coverage on a regular basis then we are basically screwed.

I hope perriman can stay healthy and be our go to guy for years to come.

  3. I would say work with what you got if your the Ravens. I have full confidence that Asa Jackson and Rashard Melvin will step up and be future stars in the NFL. Fans love a player until you see someone you think is better become available. The real question in the secondary this year is can Ladarius Webb fully recover from both ACL tears. The answer through performance based on last year has been "No." Matt Elam I believe was dealt a bad hand since he played in Baltimore in my opinion. He was supposed to play SS and played FS and CB his first two years. In his defense I would love to see him get some consistency at his own position. Also, like any other secondary player in the league. It takes time to develop at a minimum three years. Thats the difference between an offensive draft pick and a defensive draft pick. You can expect an immediate impact from most of the players we got on offense this year. Defense however, it is extremely rare for a player to have an immediate impact unless his team just sucks. Ladarius Webb took a few years to get as good as he is today. I remember when he used to get toasted and his recovery speed saved him from giving up touchdowns. Thats only thing that kept Ladarius Webb from being Chykie Brown. Jimmy Smith in my opinion was garbage until that pass he stopped for the Ravens to win the Superbowl. The next year he played outstanding and became a shutdown CB. If you replace those guys with Kyle Arrington they never become stars. Point blank you have to allow players on defense time to develop.

1- Melvin and Jackson both showed flashes of promise before they got hurt. But to say they are ready to handle #1 or 2 WRs in the NFL is a reach. You said yourself that it takes more than a few games for secondary players to adjust to he NFL level. They are certainly not ready to face starting WRs if Webb or Smith get hurt for a long period. I like keeping them but very skeptical when it comes to throwing them in the fire.

2- Webb's knees are fully recovered. It was a bad back that held him back last year. To me, a bad back is worse than a torn ACL because it never really heals 100% (A player learns how to adjust to it). But the encouraging thing is that Webb played much more fluidly towards the end of the season than when he first came back from his injury. If Webb gets 80 or 90% of his old form, he'd still be one of the best #2 CB's in the NFL.

3- Defensive players actually pann out sooner than Offensive players. Linebackers, Pass Rushers, and Dlinemen routinely have immediate Day 1 impact. Secondary players are the ones that usually struggle to adjust. On offense, Quarterbacks, Linemen, and receivers all struggle adjusting to the NFL. Maxx William will go through growing pains, Perriman will have impact because hes a deep threat but don't think for a second that he will have a solid all around game until he develops it.

  4. Not sure anyone mentioned this, yet. But I've always felt Ed Reed built a 1st ballot HOF résumé.

After Troy Polamalu retired ESPN and others wrote about how he might be 1st Ballot but it's not as clear cut as it were a few years ago.

    - with Ed retiring in the same offseason there is no way 2 Safeties would ever go 1st ballot together.

I agree that Ed is a HOFer without a doubt. I can go on and debate this for hours with anyone. When it comes to him and palumalu entering the HOF, I believe this actually helps both of them. Ed hasn't announced his retirement officially but whenever he does he'd be eligible 5 years after his last playing season. That means he would be eligible a year before Troy. Ray Lewis will be eligible the year prior. If all 3 were in the same year is say yes that's tough. But 1 "new generation" guy every year will become the norm. With Ray Lewis entering in a few years, it will be tough to exclude his partner in crime Ed the next year. And it will be even tougher to exclude Troy after that as these 3 guys revolutionized football ;)

  5. Here is the problem Sami. Sometimes when guys get hurt they do not come back as good as before their injury. Webb has had numerous injuries and so has Jimmy. These are our two best players and they can't seem to stay healthy. Our secondary was decimated last year and I am gun-shy that it could happen again. I would have felt better if Marcus Peters was there in the first and we grabbed him, but I did not get my wish. I know most are happy we grabbed Perriman, but I really like the young guys we have on the team in Aiken, Brown, Butler, and Campanero. They all have great hands and looked like they were coming into their own last season. Therefore, I would have taken Byron Jones at #26. He has great potential and was projected to go in the first round. I just agree with Eisenberg, that we are taking a gamble and I am a little worried.

Starting Aiken Brown Butler or Camp alongside of SSS would be an extremely unfair gamble to the players and Flacco. They showed a lot of promise and I love their potential but us moving on without an other WR was never an option.

Byron jones was my fav corner in this draft. But I believe that's a bit of a reach. Who do you think out of the 2 has the better chance of making a probowl on this squad? Your right it's perriman. When was the last time a rookie CB played lights out or made it to the pro bowl? Il wait....... And when was the last time a rookie WR made it to a pro bowl or had 1000 yards? Every year.

We're all gunshy after what happened last year. But seriously lightning is not going to strike twice at the same spot. The weakest links are all gone and I won't say any names. The guys that are still here showed potential before they got hurt too. We are just one 3rd CB and we are set. No need to reach in the first.

I'm not advocating we are set at secondary. There's only one way Ozzie goes into the season without adding a proven vet. That's if a youngster just goes lights out in preseason and locks in the 3rd spot. No need to panic.

  6. Why wait for the cuts?

Brandon boykins from the Eagles has been on the block for about a week now and everyone is just waiting for the eagles to straight up cut him. At this point, I bet the Eagles would take peanuts for him. I can see us trading one our developing WRs or Dlinemen. I can even see some value in A.Brown in a trade.

Boykins will instantly have the 3rd CB spot to lose. We may even get a comp pick next year if he outplays his contract and out prices himself.

I say make the deal Ozzie and enjoy a team with zero weaknesses going into the season.

  7. 1st round. I've been high on perriman for months and got crushed around here for it. Seems like Ozzie and I both see that he has more potential than any other WR in this class.

2nd round. I was never a fan of us reaching for maax Williams with our 1st pick as I thought we needed a WR or CB with our pick. But to get the best TE late in the second is not a reach at all. Heck breaking Pittsburgh heart and watching them scramble is just priceless.

3rd round. The draft unfolded beautifully for teams in need of Dline help. The second round was flooded with talented big guys. Ozzie just waited it out and said "WATCH THIS!" As he snatched yet another 1st round talent late in the third round.

At this point I'm just thinking to myself we're done here. I don't care if we draft 6 punters I'm satisfied with what we already got.

4th round. Zadarious smith and buck Allen. I'm thinking to myself "huh". Then I watch a fe hours of film on these guys. By the end of it I was thinking " did Ozzie just pull 2 more rabbits out of an empty hat?"

Then we pick up a few developmental guys that look really good on paper. Can't wait to see how they look a few years down the road. A 6'2 CB, a 6'6 WR that's runs a 4.4, a lineman that could turn into something, and a TE.

  8. Quite frankly, I don't give a crap what Torrey Smith says. I don't know why we still cover that money chaser. He walked out on us. I thought that was the end of it.

Have some respect for a guy that gave the ravens 4 years at a bargain price! Have respect for a guy that played for the ravens for 3.4 million combined when his true value was closer to 9 mil a year and never ever complained. Have some respect for a guy that gave so much time and money to the community! Have some respect for any player that compliments and wishes the best for the guy that's going to take his former job! Have some respect to a guy that played banged up on a regular basis for our team. Oh my lord have some Respect bro.......

When it comes to Torrey smith cashin out......

1- he's a (1 trick pony) speedster that could get hurt and loose that speed any day.

2- chances of the 49ers respecting the full duration of that 40 mil contract are slim.

3- he's earned the right to cash out at least 1 time in his football life.

    Come on man

    13

  9. OMG! Just a ridiculous pick. This guy dropped a bunch of passes. I don't get why the Ravens are so enamored with the WR position that they take these kinds of guys. There was a bonafide CB taken next by Dallas and a bonafide S taken two picks later. Either would have helped the Ravens a lot more than this guy. How many more are they gonna blow before stopping this nonsense? Good Grief!

Relax brother we did good. Byrod jones was actually my fav cornerback in this draft as we'll but he is not a bonafide sure bet. He is physically a freak of nature ( like Permian ) but is a but raw and comes from a so and so system. Plus he has a bad shoulder which is another red flag.

The safety that Green Bay took is not even close to how you are describing him. He's a more raw version of brooks who we already have.

Randall is the best safety in a very weak class. Similar to max Williams the TE who no one reached for in the first.

Keep in mind the drop off from Permian to the next best WR is much more than the drop off at CB. There are still 3 CBs that have very similar skill sets to byron.

Keep your head up and let's hope we move up to mid 2nd round and snatch another impact player. I can name 8-10 guys still out there that can help our team come day one. 3 of them are CBs ;)

  10. Thank you Ozzie and staff!

For all those who were yelling offense in the first. I'm glad the cowboys took the troublesome OT right before us as it set us up for a great situation! This D is 2 FA (cb3 and safety competition) and chemistry away from ELITE! Yes I said it.

There are still a few recievers out there that are not polished yet but have great upsides! Let's snatch one up and as many said earlier. It seems like Winston will come and compete with the plethora of young linemen that we have. May the better player win the job!

    3

  11. First of all, I'm happy that we got the BEST middle linebacker in this class at 17. We are set with 6 solid versite linebackers to share the load. We can rush the passer, stuff the run, and POP any straying TE if they try! Well done Ozzie:) oh yeah and great depth if injuries factor in.

I still can't believe that both bucannon and ward slipped from us! I seriously hope that we grab one of the 2 remaining safeties for real in the second. Brooks and joiner are the last 2 guys on the board that are assured imidiate impact at FS. Let's not wait till theyr both gone. If one is off the board then let's trade up n snatch the other! Please!

WR can wait and as RT and FS are both more important to start the season. There r still 5 or 6 WR we can pick up

  12. I honestly didn't see that coming but.... What a pleasant surprise!

I currently reside in Tampa and have not missed a game in 2 LOOOOOOOONG seasons down here lol. I assure u this guy can play! Heck I wouldn't be shocked if Zutta makes a pro-bowl as a Raven. Great foundation with Monroe KO Yanda and Zutta. 4 solid starters as last year we had 2 after KO got hurt. Besides there's great depth in Geno, Reid, and Wagner is someone gets banged up.

  13. I honestly wouldn't be disappointed if we drafted a FS early in the draft but I would be if Clark is our starter come next season without a plan B (like last year with huff). Besides, I always love it when we go D early in the draft. Just look at ozzies record:)

and please don't get me wrong I know that the old Reed is long gone but just saying that if Ed is signed for the vet min then he's def going to contribute to the team in many other ways than just on the field. I'm not calling for Ed to be the starter but if we are going to sign a vet FS then I hope it's Ed not Clark.

Brendandeal I totally agree with u and absolutely trust Ozzie and them in company. I too am looking forward to next year. A healthy Pitta Ngata and Suggs! A new WR for Flaco to toy with! A FS away from a top 10 defense! I'm totally buying into the idea that we ended up 8-8 in a year that everything went wrong so I'm optimistic abt our chances.

    In Ozzie we trust!

  14. And for all of those who want to hate on his performance last year. Yes he was 34 years old coming off a bad injury (missed 4 games I think) and played in 2 different systems including the circus that was the Houston Texans last year. In other words he wouldn't have made a probowl if he was 25 under those circumstances

    0

  15. What's with all the hate towards Ed Reed?

He's gona get paid the minimum and is willing to sit whenever whoever we draft is ready to take over at FS.

It's just so rude hearing u guys hate on a guy that gave this team his heart without real reasons other than he's 35 or he's not as good as he was. Really? And Clark is as good as he was? Is he 28? The simple right solution is right there but unfortunately harbs is too proud to even consider bringing back ed. Simple as that

    1

  16. Don't get me wrong Clark is a great player and I'd love to have him on the team as he'd instantly help us but come on! The only reason were not signing ed reed back is because he's 35 years old and everyone here is complaining about Steve smith being 34. Why would we sign an ex steeler when ed reed is out there for a cheap price. I really think loyalty should be taken into consideration here unless there's something we don't know about

I agree and honestly am pleased with this offseason so far :)

Im just hoping 1 more need will be filled b4 the end of FreeAgency RT or C or FS

We had 14 mil in cap space heading into today and will have around 9 after todays contracts are sorted. What r the chances we add 1 more starter b4 the draft?
