I was tempted to neg you just because u asked for it. Maybe next time lol.Go ahead and neg me if you want but I've always been a fan of both the Redskins and the Ravens. I never saw the need to choose between them except when they played each other, which was rare. Our real rivals are the Steelers. And the Redskins real rivals are the Cowboys. We're not even in the same conference. This way I double my chances of having one of my teams in the playoffs. Of course lately it's been our Ravens that have done the job. But back in the 80's it was nice rooting for Doug Williams and that most amazing 2nd quarter in Super Bowl history when the Redskins pancaked John Elway's Bronco's with five straight touchdowns. Yes, the same John Elway that snubbed Baltimore by refusing to come play here after the college draft. To this day I cheer when his team gets smacked around. Hopefully this will be repeated this year by the Ravens when we play them on our opening game in Denver this September.
I know a lot of people that support both and share your point of view. Not saying I want the Redskins to be great but seriously..... Any team that kicks the stupid Cowboys behind is a team that I support "temporarily"
And thank you baltimore for all those consecutive sellouts! Some of those games were hard to watch better yet pay good earned money to attend them in person. Classy people diserve a classy owner and a classy team.
I love the work that Forsett is putting in. At the same time it scares me that he's bulking so much in one offseason. Bulking up is great except when it takes away from a running backs agility. Ray Rice made the same mistake and I fear for Forsett. I can't knock a guy for working hard in the offseason but it really is starting to worry me....
Anyone shares the same sceptism? Or can anyone talk me out of this funk I'm in....
I don't believe doom will hold out. Especially when he triggered a million dollar yearly increase after his 14th sack last year or something like that. I really don't think Doom is that greedy.
But if he does, I'd call his bluff. Pay him nothing and decline every trade coming his way until he mans up and respects his end of the contract. Ozzie went out of his way to bring him in. Harbs goes out of his way every game by starting a guy who's not an every down guy. We all know the kind of defenders harbs loves and doom doesn't fit that description.
Don't get me wrong. I loved his signing and love what he brings to the team. I hope he stays here for a few more years. But if he holds out and disrespects us like that then it's on!
Mad mad mad respect to Forsett. I don't even know where to begin or end but seriously. Thank you for staying in Baltimore. Thank you for being a great role model to the players and fans.
Shower pill is probably the only think coming from him that I hope to never encounter lol
I'm certainly not the biggest fan of Castillos work. Wasn't a fan when we brought him in to change to the zone blocking and wasn't a fan after his first year. I'm not sure how much credit he should get for last years success but certainly have a lot of respect for the man for sticking to his guns. Slowly but steadily I'm forced to respect him as a man. His coaching is gonna show this year with a new OC but the same group of guys who have been in his system for 2 years.
So many valid points. Tucker is a stud! Best close range kicker in the history of the game! Best extra point taker for the future with this new weird rule. Best clutch kicker we've had for a while. Touchback machine. And here's what I love about him the most..... The guy is nasty! He really protects our blind side better than any kicker in this game.
Dear moderators. May we pleeeeeeease have a video of Tucker's tackles. And a statistic of how many points he's saved us?
Tucker is not going anywhere, that may seem like alot of money but there are some players you pay top dollar for and that is tuck, if we have a chance to keep the best player at his position then why not pay top dollar?? We did it with JO, Ray, Ed, Ngata, and Suggs. So why would tuck be any different? His touchbacks and clutch near automatic kicks are a valueable part of our game. Our opponents are consistently having to drive the field because of field position. Second rant, damnit Dallas and Denver!!! They have made it nearly impossible to keep a bonafide #1 WR beyond their rookie deals AND keep a competitive team. But I guess both teams will be rebuilding within the next 3 years so i guess they have to pay someone. But if Perriman becomes a top 5 WR then in 2019-20 hes gonna command 20 mil a year at the rate they are going now because next year Julio and AJ will top both dez and DT. We cant have a 22 mil QB, 12-15 mil WR, 12 mil G, two 10-12 mil DE/OLB, 12 mil CB...OMG i hate the freaking salary cap...lol...thank God we have the great and powerful Ozzie who knows how to draft because we would not be as competitive if not for his masterful offseason moves. Rant over....56 days!!!!
Agree! I can't even imagine tucker leaving. Especially when you have a head coach with special teams pedegree;) I hope our FO gives this guy a ton of guaranteed money up front to keep his cap hit low because he's the closest thing to a sure bet given his age and position he plays.
Perriman is a first rounder meaning the Ravens have the option to keep him for a fifth year. By that time if he demands top money then we would have had a very good WR for 5 years for a fraction of his market price. Tickle me to death if that happens in 5 years "demanding top money" as il be the first one to say "damn that sucks but thank you for your service and good luck wherever you go" unless if he stays in the division lol
I actually crave beating you at your best! It actually gives me a kick and It doesn't feel as sweet when opponents are missing key players. Seriously, I would love nothing more than to walk into mile high. Put Peyton on his back a few times. And watch j.smith put a number on DT like he normally does on a weekly basis. Something like 4 catches for 38 yards.I'd never wish injury on any player, but I don't understand the whole "I hope their team is at full strength." Who cares what someone's excuse is? If DT holds out it gives the Ravens a competitive advantage. I don't think DT will hold out for the first game, but if he does I won't be upset one bit.
Competitive advantage this. You chose the game, place, rules, and time. And il still kick your behind! Just my 2 cents ![]()
Highly unlikely given what we know...
$13M is coming off the books, but you really aren't gaining anything from it. We still have $132M in contracts on the books for 2016 as or right now, meaning, at best, we've got $30M in cap space right now. That's before any other extensions are signed... KO, Yanda, Tucker, Hill, etc. That also excludes signing draft picks and any other moderate FAs. Signing Yanda, KO and Tucker, and draft picks would probably put us under $10M alone. By most of what I've read, having somewhere in the neighborhood of $10-15M in cap space to spend on FAs once its all said and done next season, which really isn't much at all when you consider there will be plenty of teams with north of $30M to spend. We will likely be in the bottom third of the league in cap space once again, which isn't a problem, but that's just the way the league works when you're actively trying to win every year.
Additionally, the major thing fans seem to ignore is that its not just about signing FAs or extending players because you have the cap space in one season. If we're going to extend Yanda and/or KO, the FO has to make sure they can afford that player in 2016... and 2017, and 2018, and 2019, etc. Anybody can afford to sign anybody for one season... you can just move money around to do that. Its extending players for 3-4 years that is costly.
Ultimately, the FO will ask itself "do I want to invest $15-20M per season in cap space for a couple of guards". Even in an increasing salary cap, that's still a significant number for interior lineman, particularly on a team that is notoriously great at developing interior lineman.
We had the cap space to sign Torrey... we didn't. We had the cap space to keep Ngata... we didn't. Just because we have the cap space to retain a player doesn't even remotely indicate that we certainly will.
Actually more than 20 mil coming off the books. I also doubt that KO Yanda and Tucker would count more than 20 mil against the cap in the first year of their contracts. The Ravens could also free up some cap space here and there if needed. I really don't remember an offseason when the Ravens had the option to keep all starters and sign 2-3 instant starters like 5mil type guys. And an ozzis draft. I'm already excited for next offseason regardless of what happens this season ![]()
If it helps the cap this year then the Ravens would have around 8-9 mil. I hope Ozzie surprises us all with a blockbuster trade soon. Use up that cap with a stud!
Just one more move along with resigning our guys would make this a PERFECT offseason by Ozzie A+
I wonder how good this defense could have been with Ngata here for at least this upcoming season. 7.5mil is the amount of cap space the Ravens have now and may even free up more cap space if necessary. 8.5 is the amount the Ravens saved by trading him. We could have saved 1.5 on canty and kept ngata.
If Matt us gonna teach joe anything, I reallt hope it's not in the weight room holding a clipboard lol.
7th tier, what a joke. How many of Flacco's interceptions were because Torrey Smith just gave up on the play and either didn't go for the ball or didn't try to stop the defender from catching it? Now that Torrey is gone for the 2015 season I see Joe skyrocketing up on that list. Joe throws a great ball its just that his receivers let him down at the worst time (Lee Evans, TJ housmansada, Boldin, Torrey Smith)
Warning!: The below videos are very hard to watch as a Ravens fan.
Lee Evens Drop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIH-GrnnPVM
Anquan Boldin Drop : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0fpONkw6yk
TJ Houshmandzadeh drop : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqWCAoImpu0
Edit: Sorry mod about the Torrey video, I didn't have the speakers on when I watched it.
Tho i don't agree with a the extent of what you are saying because Torrey also caught more lobs from Flacco than anyone else and stretched the field. I do commend you for showing those videos. OMG they never get old ![]()
My biggest concern is replacing Gary Kupiak. I have a lot of faith in Trestman but still have to see it with my own eyes. Offensive efficiency will make or break our season.
@Halshayeji I agree what everything you said I like Zuttah and Monroe is okay just making suggestions and ideas if you want to keep K.O. and Yanda next year. This season is already set up so no trades for either of those players this year. To me if you want to keep K.O. and Yanda together we have to free some room so trading like Monroe and releasing Zuttah "next season" would makes sense if we want to keep both of those guys a Raven.
If I had to chose between keeping Yanda and KO or zuttah and Moneoe id surely chose to keep Yanda and KO. But the beautiful thing next year is that we won't need to make very many tough decisions. So much dead money coming off the books and the cap will go up. We can comfortably keep our Oline for another 2 years at least.
If I'm not mistaken, last years Oline may have been the best group in Ravens history. Zero weaknesses and quality depth when needed. So I may be a little greedy here but I want all 7 guys back next year because we can ![]()
I'm thinking in the back of my head is that if we really want to keep K.O. and Yanda and Monroe doesn't live up to his expectations this year I'll say try to trade him next year put and younger James Hurst at LT use the money to tried to keep K.O. and Yanda even cut Zuttah to save more room and put Urschal at center then our starting lineup for next season will be James Hurst LT, K.O. LG, Urschal C, Yanda RG, and Wagner RT just my opinion.
Monroe and Zuttah are basically untradeable this season because the Ravens would have more dead money then the actual cap hit. Next year is not as bad but we'd save about 2 mil on each and also carry a hefty dead cap number. Asking Monroe to take a paycut if he has another subpar season would probably be our best option next year.
Hurst and urschal played descent football last year for rookies. But that's where if ends. Going into a season with hurst and urschel as starters would be asking for trouble as both would suffer growing pains and there is no guarantee that they ever play as good as Monroe and zuttah. Besides, it takes 7 or 8 good linemen to finish a season. The Ravens have great depth in those 2 youngsters so why fix it if it ain't broke?
I honestly thought zuttah played great and there's absolutely no reason to replace him anytime soon. I do agree tho that Monroe needs to pick it up a bit.
What I can't forget is how everyone kept praising Elam for his huge camp last season... All the talk was about how he seemed absolutely ready to take the reigns oif the secondary, how he already looked like a true veteran leader and safety...
... and then the season came...
Harbaugh said after last season something like Elam's big problem is that he seems to have lost some of his belief in himself - just like Ed Dickson and Doss did. Elam's main focus, Harbaugh said, seemed to be to avoid becoming a bust - he was more and more afraid to fail. I don't know how much it helped when Ozzie singled him out so unusually straight at one of the off season pressers ("Elam needs to be a better player" - I can't recall Ozzie saying such a straightforward criticism about a Ravens player ever...) - but I'm quite sure Ozzie knew what he was doing
And that's a mental thing, and so won't necessary shoiw up in the camp and OTA's where there's much less pressure and much lower stakes. So, the question about Elam seems to be not how well he does out on the field in the off-season - we all know he has the skills and physics to be dominant. The question will be whether he can get his head straight in terms of being able to concentrate on the game itself instead of being preoccupied with not messing up. If he can shake that, if he can accepot that he is gonna mess things up, miss interceptions and tackles and allopw TD's now and then - for no NFL safety has ever been immune to making mistakes - he can become what we're all hoping he can be.
Great read larzen ![]()
He was an outstanding tackler in college and that one of the primary reasons he was drafted. I feel like with Elam it's all mental. He has lacked confidence and has played scared since he came into the league. He worries so much about not messing up that he forgets to just play and he, of course, messes up. I think this is the year he gets his mentality right and he plays like he did back in college.
I totally agree. I watched a lot of film on this guy at Florida. Elam was an awesome tackler at that level.
Last year he really doubted himself way too often. Should I wrap up? Head up or down? Should I no high or low? Then it's too late. His hips were so stiff and he barely got any momentum while tackling.
Just keep your head up and take someone out! I promise you'll feel a lot better about ur selfie. He needs to bring back his headless chicken tackling style that he dominated with at Florida.
I think both are #2. If it's 3rd and 4 or more it will be Allen. 3rd and short or inside the 5 it will be Taliaferro. 1st half we might see Allen more, 4th qtr use Taliaferro to wear down the D and run out the clock.
I would love to see that happen. Put the ball in forsets hands 15 times a game and 15 times between the 2 of them (run or pass) Allow each one to specialize in specific situations and go with the hot hand every game.
What a pleasant surprise Forsett has been. Hope the young guns develop into studs!
The real indicator of the secondary will show if someone steps up and moves Lardarius Webb further down the depth chart. I was not impressed at all with his play last year even at the end of the season, I certainly do not think he is worth what we are paying him.
I do appreciate his contribution to the community of Baltimore but he needs to step up his level of play big time IMO. If we have that kind of quality, we will probably be Ok!
Tho I don't agree I think that's fair to say. Indeed Webb was not impressive. But he was playing hurt and I actually appreciate that he suited up while he was so far from 100 percent. I don't believe Webb has declined that much physically as he's still 29 if I'm not mistaken. He has proved for years that he's the real deal. A solid NFL starter to say the least. I refuse to believe that he just lost it at all of a sudden. If someone beats out a healthy Webb then I'd say the ravens have the best secondary in the NFL
I do agree that he didn't play like 7mil dollars last year but he did take a straight up pay cut this season and I also appreciate that.
If the season starts today. The ravens have j.smith who is a top 5 CB in my books marking the best WR. L.Webb is still one of the best #2 CBs in the NFL marking the second WR and a solid slot CB in Arrington. W.Hill has been a top10 safety the past 2 years according to PFF. And all lewis has to do is hold his own. I think he's capable of doing that at least.
Our depth last year was horrendous. This year is a different story. The ravens have A.Jackson, Elam, Melvin and Brooks warming the bench waiting for their opportunities to arise. I'm not arguing that they are starters but they're really really good backups with upsides.
One thing that can definitely boost the confidence of our secondary is Matt Schaub.
I vote comment of the day!
What pass are you talking about? I hope you not talking about Joe to Torrey because that was Torrey's fault.
I've defended joe Flacco to the other end of the planet. And I literally mean that ![]()
Il continue to defend him because I do believe that he's perfect for our team.
But I think it's dillusional to throw all the blame on Torrey when it was clearly joes fault on that particular play.
I even doubted myselfe and watched it again a few times.
1- it was second and 5 with about 1:40 on the clock. Why go deep? Even if it was a completion then Brady would get the ball back.
2- the pats rushed 4 guys and 2 of them were on their back when joe released the ball. Why rush it?
3- the pats doubled Torrey and others were single covered? Why force it?
4- joe was not pressured at all but threw it off his back foot and floated it. Why?
5- Torrey actually had his man beat but joe placed the ball a few yards too deep and a few yards inside of the sideline.
6- Torrey actually did challenge the safety but the ball was just thrown in his lap.
Neg me all you need but that pass was on Joe not Torrey. Blame the refs, cheap patriot formations, deflated footballs, decemited secondary. Whatever you want but don't throw it all on Torrey just because he's not here.
Suggs better show up for camp in shape and ready to kick butt if he wants that ring. offense looking good.
Pitts is a year or two away from a fearful defense
And until that day comes. I hope we run the ball down the steelers throat 30 times every time we face them!
Asking questions like this will make the kid lose confidence. Its June. He won't catch everything. Remember week 1 against the Bengals, Steve Smith Sr dropped about 3 balls. He catches the ball just fine.
Thank you!
When a kid sais it's all mental. That means it's getting to his head. I'm glad Flacco connected with him deep later in that practice. That's the only way to develop a young reciever doubting himself.

I don't usually agree with your point of view but this time I have to admit that you are 100percent correct
I thought no those rankings are prity much fair and Flacco can move up those ranks this year
