I'm sorry Sarah buy your argument is pathetic!
1- Very little cap room? We can easily extend Yandas contract and free up more than enough cash needed to make moves. Besides I can write the names of 5-10 guys that could be cut today and not hurt the team. Stop making it seem like we are going to bring someone in and pay him 10 mil a year. A.jeffry would have cost us less than 1 mil against the cap but we payed Babin to sit a game, and lose us another. Cap space is not the biggest issue here.
2- little roster flexibility? Really?! That's why u make moves. You release the weakest guy in a position or IR him and bring an upgrade.
3- We have 46 guys under contract next year. 50 if we re sign Yanda KO Tucker and Upshaw. So tell me where the heck are we gonna fit 12 rookies that we draft without cutting guys we drafted this year and last year? Something's gotta give. We have a whole bunch of good players but not enough impact players. U see where we disagree. I'd rather have a "starter" like Zuttah than 2 or 3 mid round guys who need a year or 2 to develop.
4- So you are basically saying this season is over why bother........ That's why we should have made moves earlier! And no the season is not over until the fat lady sings and no I don't hear her...... Call me a proud Raven or call me a spoiled Raven but I expect this team to fight. Even if we are 1-14. You also mentioned that guys take time to gel so why not bring a guy in and let him fit in and be 100% ready by next year. Why wait when we obviously need bodies now and they can't hurt if we have depth when the guys are back.
Damn, I thought Kendrick Lewis was a good addition, but I have not seen him do jack. Secondary as a whole, but can't blame them for everything. They have no pass rush help so go figure. Oh and they were not the ones who marched to Cleveland's 10 yard line and instead of going for the W, they were content with kicking a FG and send it to OT. THAT WAS THE MOST DISGRACEFUL PLAY-CALLING in OUR HISTORY!!
U tell me Persian! Lewis was brought down here to not screw up until Elam or Brooks develops. He's not a pro bowler and signed a contract that said just that. Good guy, smart player, just don't expect much more from him. I wasn't expecting much more tbh. We all agree that this D should be playing better, our O on the other hand....... That drive u talked about killed a piece of me from the inside! We wouldn't have even gotten the drive going without that vanilla flag we got earlier then Forsett broke one. Then we just stalked in the red zone. Again! What about that horrendous 2 ot conversion? And the 3 and out to start overtime?
I said this before and I'm say it again. Our biggest loss in the offseason was losing Kupiak.
I'm more pissed off than anyone here about this situation but if you isolate this pickup then you will notice that it was a great move. We had the chance to sign him in the summer but the 49ers gave him a 1.5 mil signing bonus plus whatever salary he made. Thats why we went with Arrington. He was a better option then and is a better option now.
The only thing that bothers me is the fact that we waited untill we lost 3 games untill we decided that arrington is not starting material. If we had Wright and Davis from pre season things would be different at the moment.
When your patchwork offense puts up 30 points, you expect to win the game!
Big shock about Davis' injury, knowing he's already coming off an ACL issue...smh Let's see who else we can pick up to help pay for their medical bills!
Webb has one and a half games where he looks even remotely close to his former caliber, and yup you guessed it hurt again!
Is it something with the conditioning, or what? They should be able to hold up better. Can you imagine if these guys had to face Ray, Ed, or Pollard?
Joe underthrows Givens right out the gate, and then never throws his way again. He overthrows Aiken, and then throws behind wide open receivers! How long you been playing this game?
Babin, nice job with both of those penalties. You pretty much handed them 14 points! I'm thinking I remember you getting a call last week as well? Nice addition to the team. smh
Marlon Brown... catch a freakin ball! Ever heard of a jugs machine? You should be in front of that thing 24hrs a day until you learn to catch!
Dean Pees and Trestman need to get their act together. This play calling is killing us! If you know you can't get blitz pressure all day, what makes you think it would suddenly work at the back half of the game? You are facing a team listed 32nd against the run, so of course we should throw in short yardage situations?! Cmon man!
There are no adjustments seen, it's like, just keep hitting this wall with your head and hopefully something might happen.
You are all highly paid "professionals", it's time to start acting like it.
i wish I could disagree with any of your points but you are hilariously on point!
Let it all out brother I feel your pain ![]()
Thank you harbs for not throwing in the towel we are Ravens and we fight to the end!
Please swallow a little bit of pride and fire pees ASAP. Please promote someone from within so we can know by the end of the season if he's a keeper of if we need someone else. Please bring Ed Reed back home to work with our secondary. He can relate to them and teach them a few things. He knows the modern NFL passing game better than anyone we have.
Looking at how horrible the lions have been, Ngata is not staying there. His stats suck coz the team sucks. But I saw a few games and the guy still attracts double teams or causes havoc in the backfield. Please bring him back for a year or 2 until b.williams, Jernigan, and Davis develop into the best trio in the AFC north.
I know it sucks but we have a solid foundation to build around! We have a ton of cap space next year. We have a QB that will restructure freeing up more cap space. Now more than ever..... In Ozzie I trust!
So Ozzie burns a 1st round pick on safety Matt Elam, and the following year he burns a 3rd round pick in another safety, Terrence Brooks. You would think that one of them would've been a decent starter, but both are terrible. Ozzie- please don't draft any more safeties or WRs or Corners. This is why Pees is up all night because you can't give him the tools to succeed.
I honestly don't know if you are being sarcastic or just venting?
I honestly think that Elam and Brooks were steals in their drafts. Their NCAA play speaks for itself. The problem is that Pees kept putting them in situations where they just can't win! Instead of putting them in situations where they have limited responsibilities, they were thrown all over the place including nickle! It's tough for a young safety to adjust to the NFL. It's even harder when they have a coordinator that can't develop anyone!
Heck it took J.Smith 3 years to look like a first rounder! 3 years! Webb has been regressing every year since pees arrived and he's not even 30. We simply suck at developing secondary players with this staff. idk if it's secondary coaches, scheme, or play calling. But I do know that we have had 20 new faces in the secondary over the past 3 years (via draft, free agency, trades) and none of them played as well in Baltimore than they did elsewhere. That includes W.Hill btw. He'd be a pro bowler anywhere else.
Remind me again what Ravens got for Ngata?
A bag of peanuts lol
Ouch.....
That loss hurt
The Ravens are on schedule to have 11 picks in next years draft. The Ravens have 46 players under contract for next year not including the guys we may resign like Yanda, KO, Tucker, and Upshaw. Thats because we have drafted 28 players in the previous 3 drafts. Thats lierally 7 more than the norm (1 full draft class to most teams). You do the math guys, we are loaded with developing guys that we will lose like we lost J.Simon(4th rounder), Wenning(6th rounder), just to sign our own draft picks. We certainly have the quantity but what we lack is Quality. We need a few playmakers here and there instead of more developing guys because we just cant fit all of them on a 53 man roster. If we draft 11 guys next year then we are certainly going to just watch 5-10 guys that we have recently invested picks and playing time walk away for nothing (not even comp picks).
in 2012, we drafted 8 guys. Guess how many are still on the roster? 2!
in 2013 we drafted 10 guys. Guess how many will remain on the roster if we draft 11 guys next year.......
This next off-season is going to be different than the norm. I promise that! I'm not saying that because I have inside information or anything but it just makes sense. Ozzie will not just wash away so many players he drafted himself just to draft more guys.
After the Super Bowl, Ozzie promised not to jeopardize this teams future for the present. That was 3 years ago and he has kept that promise. We have a solid foundation of vets and a whole bunch of guys with potential. Now the 3 year restructure is complete and Ozzie has no other choice but to Invest in the present.
That's why we are calling for him to bring in a guaranteed starter for a few late round picks. All we want is for Ozzie to accelerate the process and snatch someone now instead of waiting till after the season when everyone is competing for a few players available.
I think it's not fair to Aiken or M.Brown to be thrown out there against NFL #1 and #2 CBs in the NFL but I hope they both blossom under pressure instead of shrink under it. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for these 2 guys and I pray to God the moment isn't too big for them.
Focus on football please! You only have a few more years to fulfil your dream. Life after football is not going anywhere. For now, just focus on proving all the doubters wrong! Only 100 men on this planet get the chance to start as an NFL WR so please don't take it lightly.
God bless and good luck gentlemen were gonna need you this week more than ever!
Roddy White and a healthy Perriman with SSS sounds deadly!!!! Unfortunately, so deadly that it won't happen. But it was nice for about 10 min while my mind wondered.
Hahaaaah that was priceless!
If we lose this game, it's on ozzie and the FO for throwing in the towel. We need a vet WR just plain and simple...... M.brown, Aiken have gotten many opportunities to prove their worth. As of today, They are good NFL players. Not starters and certainly not together as the #1 and 2 options.
We passed on everyone in the offseason then perriman fell in our lap. He got hurt then again then sss gets hurt and still no sense of urgency..... I can't fault M.Brown or Aiken for not filling sss boots because they are not that. There are so many options out there. Cheap ones, expensive ones, and one year rentals. I don't care if we waste a second rounder on a rental as long as I know our FO fought with this team till the end.
We are probably one loss away from just dumping this season and looking forward to next year. If now is not the time to take a risk, when is that time?!
I'm gonna ride with this team through the rough and ugly days but am extremely disappointed that my Ravens FO is just playing it conservative when we need to fight bad luck with fire. Ozzie is the best in the business at assessing talent. I'm sure he has a list of guys he can bring in tomorrow if given the chance. Let him do what he does best!
This. Ngata was not worth the money anymore. It's a business and it was the correct business decision.
I'd gladly take Ngata back after he collects his 20 mil and is willing to sign a cap friendly deal. Come back home Ngata
He's a terrible option for the exact reason you just said... you can't trade for him unless you're signing him to an extension.
Opening bid for him would be MAYBE a 2nd round pick, and it'd like cost a first. Therefore, trading for him and then losing him in FA less than six months later means you basically swapped a high draft pick for a medium pick... so wheres the gain?
I don't know why fans think we are one WR away from being legitimate contenders. There is nothing you've seen on the football field in the last four games to indicate that.
All a moot point obviously, because there's nothing to suggest the Bears are even remotely considering shopping Jeffery.
1- Everything suggests that the Bears are shopping Jeffery. They are in full rebuild mode. They just traded their MLB who they drafted in the second for peanuts. They traded away their better WR "Marshal" for a bag of peanuts before the season. They are just trading away all their assets and A.Jeffry is next in line. They are going to add a lot of restricted FA over the next few years leaving them with no comp picks. That's why they are trying to get value for him.
2- asking for a second rounder is such a reach. They'd never get that. Especially with the amount of WR that have moved this year and none were traded for more than a 4th.
3- 4 games into the season and it's obvious the O and Trestman are not on the same page. The most glaring need is WR and Jeffrey is the fastest solution both short and long term.
Getting a high comp pick is not ideal but it's a good backup plan if Jeffrey decides to move.
We have the cap space, it's a glaring need, we have a bunch of picks for next years draft. Just make the move!
I don't think the risk-reward outcome is good if we desperately sign/trade for another WR. By risk-reward I mean the risk of limiting cap space for the reward of a WR that will change the game in the absence of Steve Smith/Campanaro. I still think we should give Daniel Brown a shot. I mean the worst that can happen is he gets injured or doesn't perform well, then we'll just end up exactly where were at now except still with money in the bank.
That's why I think A.jeffry is a great option. He can help right away. If he likes it here and we like him maybe hel give us a home team discount. If he prices himself out we get a high comp pick next year. This year hed count 1 mil against the cap.
I personally love Vincent Jackson but and would root for him if he becomes a raven somehow. But I'm realistic when I think of his age that's 33. Maybe a.jeffry would be a better option this year and for the future. he'd fit right in with Trestman and his O. If he prices himself out next year we get a high comp pick. If he stays we'd have him and perriman for years.
The Bears are blowing up their squad. We've passed on so many opportunities to add a quality vet. Maybe offer a mid to late pick for a CB or Safety. A.jeffry would also be a perfect fit for trestmans scheme. When perriman comes back we'd have 3 solid WRs and by the time sss hangs his boots we'd have 2 solid guys to move forward with.
Please Ozzie do something better than Arrington Lewis and a 35 year old pass rusher.
Just do what I do. Go to your garage, snap a pice off any dusting table or something, put it in your pocket. Every time you remember the Ravens brink that piece out and keep knocking on it until Monday morning comes. The Ravens are the only active team in the NFL to never start a season 0-3, according to ESPN Stats and Information.
^ My though process is that every time these writers bring up or mention a so-called, "never" concerning the Ravens, that "never" (from a negative perspective) always seems to happen. Last week, it was the Ravens "never" started a season off 0-2 under Harbaugh and now, look where we are...0-2! So I say to the writers...Shhhhhhh! Lol!
Now, of course, what the writers say has no bearing on how the Ravens play week in and week out, I know this so don't get on your soap box to try and explain that to me. Smh! This is just a simple observation nothing more than that!
The Ravens will not start off 0-3!!!!!! The Bengals have earned themselves an whooping! (Knock knock knock)
We all waited 6 months for this season to start and have had the most horrible 2 weeks imaginable. This NFL season actually started earlier than anticipated. Week 3 and its a must win agains a divisional opponent that hasn't respected us enough in the past few years. Tighten your chin straps coz its on! The Bengals will suffer at Baltimore! It's time to leave it all on the field. Run every play like its your last. Make the sorry Bengals feel every hit! The season starts NOW!
Ravens nation! Our team needs us the most right now..... Forget all the negativity for a few days and focus on the ultimate goal. We NEED this win (together as Ravens). And we will get it!
Hensley I have to disagree. Less than 1% of teams starting 0-3 make it to the postseason. By losing this game we become part of the 1. So when is a game considered a must win?
Joe Flacco has thrown a game sealing interception in all of his last 3 starts (New England, Denver, and Oakland). There's a fine line between 3-0 and 0-3
Finally objectivity again! Yeah everyone thumb down whenever someone criticizes Flacco. ?He should have won us 1 or 2 of those games. This is why people outside of here fail to put Flacco in the ELITE conversation.
Lets not kid ourselves here. This problem existed with Suggs. We coughed up 35 points to NE in Jan, 19 to Denver, and 37 to Oakland. Thats 91 points in the last 3 games, or a 30 point average. Its scheme related. That Rush 3,Swiss Cheese Zone Defense is the problem. It was a problem with Mattison. We had it fixed with Pagano, but its still here, as we were beaten like a drum by Carr, as we were by Brady. Next week, its AJ Green and Red. Gonna be a long season.
No one is kidding anyone. Losing to Peyton or Brady with a few banged up guys is one thing, it sucks! Allowing the Raiders to score 37 is a PROBLEM! The last time the Raiders scored more than 30 points was 2 years ago against the Chiefs and that only happened because the Chiefs were up by a million and the starters were all resting for most of the second half. (final score 56-31 Chiefs)
1. Does anyone REALLY think this team can beat the Bengals?
2. Does anyone REALLY think this team can beat the Steelers after what they did today and will have Bell back?
3. Did we just watch a defense that was a little full of itself after playing bend but don't break against noodle arm Manning and thought they had the talent on the outside to play man coverage?
4. Anyone that discounts Suggs role just needs to know that he usually draws double coverage allowing others to create pressure. Without him it's hat on a hat blocking and we suck.
5. All that said, if we can put toghether an offensive perfomance like today's and get Perriman back, and get our humility and focus back on defense, we can still be an amazing team worthy of being inheritors of the black and purple of Lewis, Reed, Suggs and Ngata.
Quick Hits -- this isn't your thuggish, hittem hard and take no prisoners Ravens team of old. I fear those days may be gone now.
1- No comment. We lost to the Raiders.....
2- No comment. WE LOST TO THE RAIDERS!!!
3- I don't care how full of yourself you are. Allowing a second year QB to torch you like that is shameful. Allowing crabtree and cooper to look like Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant is just embarrassing.
4- Suggs is irreplaceable. Suggs and Ngata were 2 guys that Coordinators had to game plan against every game. Stats alone never gave them justice. Thus making everyone around them better. Both are gone. Someone needs to step up an cause havoc on the line.
5- Upshaw, W.Hill, J.Smith, Doom, Jernigan, B.Williams, L.Webb, and Mosley all need to play like potential pro bowlers if we even dream of having our "nasty back"
Eisenberg is perfectly right - and the Ravens must listen. Yesterday, in the Rugby World Cup [great games by the way - if anyone wants to see really complete athletes] South Africa was a 43-point favorite against Japan. And Japan won 34-32.
Great Game! Crazy game indeed!!!
Only problem with me is that a third of the Japanese roster were not Japanese including the most important starters..... Its supposed to be Japan's National Team not (international team)

If we win them all......I'l strip naked and run a mile!
Love that attitude btw. Play every game like its your last I'm not giving up until the fat lady sings. Even then, I'l gladly ruin the season for a few teams that underestimate us.
