  1. Your right.  They have made a couple trades but i forgot the other guy was a DB.  I have faith in Givens though,  Flacco seems to like those speedy quick guys.  2nd half of the season could start showing some good signs of improvement.  Despite the woes of our Offensive line, mainly offensive tackle, Flacco hasn't taken a ton of big hits this season.  Im hoping we see some double TEs sets and some more quick routes like slants, out routes, in routes, drags.  If Flacco can connect deep 2 or 3 times a game then defenses will have to play their safeties back further and that will open more holes up for the run game.  Right now I feel like Givens is our best wr because his skill set fits Flacco best.  I wouldnt be opposed to seeing Max williams move out in the slot and have Gillmore and Boyle lined up on the line of scrimmage.  Many possibilities that they can change up for the 2nd half.  Cant wait to see the adjustments.

Very well said. Objective and as true as it gets. We need Monroe back ASAP. He's hasn't been playing great but certainly is playing 10 times better than whoever backs him up. Max playing slot could really help us if he can break in and out of his routs. its mid-season and he should be getting the hang of it by now. I don't think hes ready to block (size + technique) as that takes more than 2 months to bulk up and change technique but that's why Boyle and Gilmore are getting more playing time. Deep passing would really open up the field for us but lets not get too pass happy after tearing up a horrendous Chargers secondary. Take 3-4 shots down the field each half but lets not make it a habit unless it cant be stopped. I'm more concerned about offensive efficiency. We cant have 3 and outs because our Defense cant stop anyone 10 times in a game. We need to hold opponents to 6-8 possessions a game by sustaining long drives killing the clock and wish for the best.

  2. Zero percent chance of that, considering you can't name an instance where this franchise has fired anybody after 8 games for anything. Fans think coaches are under fire about two years before they actually are. Its called the Cam Cameron effect, and fans don't understand that coaches don't just fire people that easily.

He's also NOT working out of Kubiak's playbook... that's a fan myth. He's working with the same terminology as what Kubiak used, nothing more (the same terminology many teams use, such as the Falcons). He kept many of the blocking schemes similar, which also fits the expertise of his OL coach, who implemented those before Kubiak even got here.

Nobody thinks we are an offensive juggernaut obviously, and the SD game has absolutely no relevance on my analysis of the offense. We're scoring 24 PPG on a team with practically no playmakers on offense and an inconsistent and largely unhealthy offensive line.

That greatly exceeds my expectations in basically any way. The same knocks on Trestman were said about Kubiak last year... poor play calling on 3rd down and in the red zone, lack of creativity, etc.

We're heard this same stuff from fans for years now, regardless of coordinator.

As much as I hate that the Ravens hold on to coaches waaaay beyond their expiry date, I understand and respect our FO for it. The good coordinators almost instantly get HC jobs and the bad ones get the chance to steer the ship before departing with them. This is why most coaches love being a part of this team. It hurts in the short term but in the long run the Ravens are always the favorites to land any coordinator they want.

Comparing Trestman to Kupiak is not fair because Kup always had this team start games on fire. That shows how prepared this team was in practice. Opening drives are almost 100 percent on the OC because they almost know the sequence their gonna have. In game adjustments is where Kup struggled with and that was a sign that this team wasn't grasping his system 100 percent. I for one never called for Kupiaks job and am not calling for Trestmans job "yet"

Trestman does need to start games a lot better tho. He needs to cut on the 3 and outs. He also needs to establish the tuning game. I have seen some adjustments he's made since the season started. He's learning how as much as joe is learning his system. oh and you are absolutely right. The playbook is soooo different than Kupiaks playbook. I don't know why people think it's the same....

Pees on the other hand is a whole different story. I hope he is just being given the courtesy of finishing off the season. I seriously don't want him back next year.

  3. As Bio referenced, there's an article about the fan fallacies of dead money.

There won't be more room to maneuver. The cap space that "comes off the books" has already been spent on existing player contracts, and that's without accounting for the new dead money (which will likely be substantial) that will inevitably be on our books.

Dead money comes and goes every year and we're still pressed up against the cap, which we likely will be next year.

I could go into more details with you. Contract by contract to show you how much better off we will be next year but I don't think this is the right time to go into all that detail. If you ever pass by Kuwait I'd gladly buy you a cup of coffee and argue with you for an hour lol

The article you mentioned is so unfair and biased that the guy "forgot to mention" that the cap is expected to be closed to 160 mil vs the 144 mil its at this year. The writer also "forgot to mention" that Flacco restructuring his contract could easily easily free up 10 mil in cap. There is no way he plays with a 28 mil cap hit.

If my math is right, that's more than 20 mil right there!

A few shrewed cap moves like taking a few mil off Webbs deal and/or letting go of Elam and ABrown would pay for Tuckers new deal. That just leaves KO to be resigned and we are literally playing with house money.

I don't even remember the last time the Ravens had the option of keeping all their guys going into an off season. Usually it's like "ok who are we willing to let go of and bring someone in at a discount just to balance our books" Next year we get injured players back, option to keep all our current guys, 12 draft pick, and chase a few free agents that Ozzie likes.

This theory if you wanna call it that is the only way we can convince SSS to come back next year and challenge for a title. This is the only reason I haven't lost my mind after losing to the Raiders. Let me say that again WE LOST TO THE AWEFUL RAIDERS!

  4. First i'm going to lay it down. With all do respect to the fans this is how i feel and it's my opinion. First off i think Breshad Perriman is going to be a bust. He has got to be one of the weakest, Slowest healers of all time, I even thought me might be faking his injury, Because he doesn't want to play for the ravens... I know it's so crazy but still the fact that he's been hurt since training camp... is just odd okay. I let his sore knee limp off the team. Now i don't know why the ravens don't want to make a "Big" Splash in signing Nicks...We need splash for crying-out-loud! we could do great things in my opinion with nick but know we settle for these lack luster Wideouts.... is it for money cap who knows but Nicks could of been that guy went for the deep balls. Now i don't understand why we didn't go after Jacoby as well he could of given life to The ravens kickoffs.... and Jacoby is better then all other WR's we have on our team.... again...could it be money?? Listen i understand you have a cap, But if you're being cheap, then you're going to get cheap...Hence the 2-6 record the Ravens have.

No disrespect taken at all :)

1- I truily hope your wrong about Perriman. Just on raw talent alone, Perriman (size, speed, how good he made UCF Qbs look) he's a top ten talent and would have been a steal at 26. His knee issue is his only red flag and that's the only reason he fell to us at 26. I hope it's just a matter of him growing into his "man body" and a knee issue that was horribly just mis diagnosed and led to some other weird stuff. That's why the Ravens are trying to play itbextreemly conservative. Let's give the guy a chance before we call him a bust. When I hurt my knee a few years back and was misdiagnosed, I played through pain for over a year. That led to a domino effect. By the time a good doctor looked at me he literally called me out and said I'm crazy for waiting this long. By the end of it I had a partially torn ACL, minescus, and a bruised knee cap. The doctor literally wouldn't clear me until my knee strength could carry 200 percent of my body weight. what sucked even more is that he wouldn't clear me u till he saw me run properly again on a slow motion camera recording my steps. Now that took months as my muscle memory had to re learn how to run in that injured knee that wasn't hurt anymore but got used to compensating while I was injured. Just give the guy a chance. Knees are complicated at times ;)

2- when it comes to our FO not making a splash I honestly don't blame them as the team is 2-6. If we were 6-2 Ozzie would have filled a hole on this roster like he did with monroe and zuttah a year earlier. I'm more disappointed that we didn't bring in a vet during the offseason knowing that our top 2 receivers are a 36 year old and a rookie with no viable backup if one goes down. Crabtree was literally ours to snatch and we just passed on him.

3-JJ is one of my fav guys but even I know that he wouldn't be the best WR on this team. He may not even start but I wouldn't mind having him for the rest of the year. I assume our FO don't wanna look like fools after cutting him and carrying his dead money then allowing him to double dip and come back then if he makes a huge mistake on kickoff or punt. U get what I mean

4-Nicks would really help this team but I'm not sure if that guy still exists. So many teams just passed on him. I don't know if he has the worst agent on the planet or if injuries have really distroyed him. We'll see I guess. But again, imagine how foolish our FO would look if they bring in the most injury prone WR in the NFL to replace an injured 36 year old and an injured first rounder. That would be priceless lol

  5. Let's be honest here. JJ may not help this team much as he's may not even be the best returner on this squad. He's was a drop and fumble machine last year. But no one can deny that the Ravens would not have reached the super bowl or won without him. No one can deny that he took a pay cut to stay here and when we cut him he was full of praise towards this organization. No one can claim that Jacobs ever gave less than 100 percent effort. I would never object giving him another chance and maybe 5-10 plays a game. You never know, maybe he'll break a few big plays here and there to help this team. If no one else gives him a chance then we should!

  6. To be fair, Darby had a first round grade and slide to the second if my memory serves me correctly. However, I agree. There wasn't any better talent left on the board. I just wish they had taken diggs over waller

I can't believe we passed up on diggs. My guess is that Mark Trestman made that call. He's literally addicted to big bodied WRs thinking he can teach them everything but can't teach size.

Diggs may have been a bit slower in his 40 and smaller in size. He was the better route runner and certainly has a bigger heart and desire to succeed.

I'm disappointed because we should have known better than anyone that heart is undervalued. Diggs was in our back yard and SSS set the blueprint but we still chose size over desire.

Not tacking a shot at waller as he was picked a round later than diggs. He is a developing guy with a higher celling. It just hurts to watch a Maryland guy that was begging to come here flourish somewhere else when we passed on him 7 times in that draft.

  7. I've said it before. If he can come back and not make it worse he should. He needs the experience. He can't be a rookie next year.

    Bingo!

I don't even understand why people are calling for him to be IRd. If he can get 2 games without risking injury, it'll do wonders for his confidence and preparation heading into next year. That's why he's on the squad and that's why the Ravens are being extremely cautious with him because it's a marathon not a sprint.

  8. I would agree - as, in spite of the W I still think our season is beyond repair - so why not use it to evaluate talent, right? Brown - while very probably nowhere near truly NFL-ready yet - has definitely shown potential in the pre-season, that would merit some further testing. adly, the WR's we got from the undrafted pool would typically last for one or two seasons: Deonte, LaQuan and more and more apparently Marlon Brown... all good for a season or maybe two, but spectacularly unable to progress beyond that point. That's why it could be immensely useful for Dan Brown to get tested as soon as possible.

Am I the only one here that thinks we need a WR regardless of how many more wins we can get. I think we need a WR because Joe Flacco needs positive reps under trestmans scheme. If we lose one more WR then defenses are literally gonna stack the box and come after joe on every play. Then none of our WR will learn a thing, joe will get killed, and our RBs will look like fools. I just think it's unfair to our coaches, players, and us fans. I would not mind if this team loses every single game as long as Joe gets this offense 100% before next season. I don't care about the scores but come in now we wee proud ravens. We don't just roll over and wait to die. We have 8 games to develop guys and maybe ruin a few other teams playoff hopes.

  9. No worries. Negs really don't bother me.

You are correct about bringing in a veteran. I welcome that. Whomever they decide on should actually be of some help tho. I think (here comes the negs now) Reggie Wayne would be a real good fit for Flacco. Not too fast to out run Joe's throws but a crafty route runner to move the chains. Not to mention he would probably come cheap.

Good for you. I wish everyone here was like you. Negs are negs. It just means someone disagrees with you. I hate it when people hold back in fear of negs. Go out on a limb. Say what you believe is right. Unless you attack a person instead of his action or opinion.

We can agree to disagree but we can never agree if we don't share opinions ;)

  10. "Don't worry about losing draft picks. We have drafted 28 guys in 3 years and are projected to have 12 next year. We literally don't have enough roster spots to fit 12 rookies without cutting ties with people we drafted recently. I say go for it Ozzie give up a mid to late round pick or two for a Starting Caliber WR" Have you seen some of Ozzie draft picks the last 7 years? Ravens need everyone they can get.

Yes I have. And that's why I'd rather get someone with proven NFL success that can help today instead of rolling the dice on 12 more rookies that may or may not even be on the team by the end of camp. Heck Ozzie still would have more picks than most.

  11. I dont even know if it is worth trading for a wr now. We dont have enough cap space and we have already traded for 2 or 3 guys this season already. We would have to trade for someone that is a #1 type guy. We already have a team full of #2 and #3 guys.

We traded for one guy not 3. The rest were picked up off practice squads and the street ;)

We need a WR because of a few reasons. Aiken and Brown have proven that they are not starting caliber at this point in their careers. That leaves this team with 3 below average starters (Aiken, Givens, Brown) that make plays here and there but cant be depended on for a whole season. The running game will suffer as we will face more and more stacked boxes and eventually Flacco will get killed standing back there trying to buy time.

You know what happens if one of those guys gets hurt? Flacco is screwed! We need a Vet WR now! If nothing else, Its the only way we can really evaluate how good or bad of a season this was for Trestman as a coordinator. Best case scenario, this Vet WR can play this year and then eventually lose his place to Perriman whenever hes up to speed and SSS if he comes back.

  12. We have many holes on our current roster - TE doesn't seem to be one of them. Luckily Gillmore is doing fine, and Nick Boyle is better than expected at this point of his career. Not to mention Davis's cap hit and the three picks we would have had to give up for him.

If Ozzie is willing to part with any more of his picks, I would think it would be for a WR or someone for the secondary.

Davis may have been an option during the off season or maybe pre-draft so we would have taken a CB or FS with our 2nd rounder. Your right I totally agree that its not a need anymore, Gilmore and the boys are balling and i love what they are doing. I just wanted to ask what 3 picks were you talking about. From what i read, his cap his is around 2 mil and the 49ers gave up a 7th and Davis for the Broncos 6th. basically nothing as the broncos will finish near the end and the 49ers will finish as one of the top picks lol.

    0

  13. So you still think we are going to make the playoffs? We are 1-6 now?

Hahaa. I never said we were gonna make the playoffs but was hoping we could have still been relevant. All 6 losses were close and had we won any of them we would be playing for something. I'm just sick and tired of us grooming coordinators just to see them walk away after a good season. The irony is that we get to keep the bad ones until they single handily ruin a season or 2.

We have a D-Coordinator that basically is getting his 60 day notice as we speak. He cant develop anyone! and is allergic to disguising a blitz. We have an O-Coordinator that wont make adjustment if his life depended on it. He on the other hand will look a blitz in the eye and rarely has a hot receiver knowing that opponents are blitzing all game long.

  14. 1- The Ravens must pick up a vet WR or invest an early draft pick on a WR regardless. SSS should be begged to stay one more year and Perriman seems to be an injury prone player for now. A quality WR is a top priority.

2- I think keeping perriman on the roster could potentially do wonders for his preparation next year. If he goes on IR he's virtually a rookie next year but if he plays 3-4 games he'll settle in and would be much better off after next years pre season. Give the guy the snaps of he can play this year. He needs them.

3- I don't see any scenario where Monroe is traded. It's way too early in his contract to depart with in terms of dead money. The Ravens would literally burn cap space this year and next to get rid of their best LT and free money 2 seasons from now.

    1

  15. Give it up brother we will not go 7-3 for the rest of the year. Or did I miss the newsflash that a 25 year olds Ray Lewis, Ed Reed Reed, Ngata, and T-Sizzle are on the roster?

If we win tonight, that would make us 2-5. Just one game away from a playoff spot. No were not catching the Bengals and Probably not the Steelers. But we sure as hell can finish a season off better than the Raiders, Bills, Dolphins, and Chiefs.

    3

  16. how many picks we have next year ?...I guess we will get 4 comp picks for Mcphee , Torrey , Daniels and Jacoby ...I hope the first we get fourth rounders ...I am going to get mad if we trade out of top ten ...!!! which is highly likely ...

Jacoby was cut so ho doesn't count. T.taylor does count. I think the most a team csn get is 2 in each round of something like that. Well gladly take them

    0

  17. I agree with you but I have to believe that the secondary coach has to share some of the blame for this as well.

Certainly. If it was a perfect world and I could chose who the Ravens hire. I'd bring in Ed Reed to work with our secondary guys. He hosted film night every week at his house when he played and the guy can still relate to players as they would trust him. He would also bring some of that swag back to our D.

    0

  18. We let good players walk out like they are nothing. Darian Stewart is playing lights out in Denver, James Ihedigbo is very solid in Detroit. They were not expensive at all, but instead we decide to bring old, injury prone guys...

The bigger problem is that every guy from our secondary that leaves plays better elsewhere and everyone we bring in plays worse than he did in his previous team. Every player we draft in the secondary shows absolutely no signs of developing from NCAA level to NFL level. The writing is on the wall. Pees has to go! The sooner the better.

    1

  19. Tough break for LT. I wasn't the biggest fan of him when we drafted him and he didn't necessarily win me over last year. But he did come back this year on a mission. He lost the weight and was running lower than last year. He also surprised me a few times with patience that he lacked as a rookie.

LT really started wining me over and I am disappointed that hes gone for the year. It's not like he was gonna beat Forsett out anytime soon but he was developing every weak area in his game. His stats don't give him justice but as a Raven fan that watches every game 2 or 3 times iv seen enough to recognize how far this guy has come as a runner. I appreciate your efforts.

I often come down hard on players when they waste their talent so its only fair that I give credit to the ones that utilize it and work hard on their craft.

LT if you are reading this:- You my friend have earned my respect. Thank you and your efforts shall never go unnoticed. I pray for your speedy recovery and wish that you come back stronger than ever.
