  1. So if Jah Reed can get a $10M contract from the Chiefs, and we gave up on him, what does that say about our FO and Coaching staff? I also miss Tyrod, Corey, Torrey, Pernell, Haloti, and even Jacoby- Oz should not have tied up money to injured/ aging veterans like Webb and Steve Smith - now Suggs is over the hill and Doom is getting up there- we are an old team and since we've had five bad drafts in the last five years, we have even more holes... We dont make the playoffs until 2017 or 2018- we really do have to rebuild and fill up a lot of holes, Oz. We also overpaid for Monroe too- we will most likely say goodbye to Tucker too if we're smart.

The Chiefs will learn the hard way that Jah Reid is never healthy. When he is, he's gettin in some sort of off field trouble. I for one am glad he's someone else's problem.

I sure as hell miss Ngata McPhee and Torry.

This year we better keep KO and monroe is not going anywhere. He's still the best LT on this squad.

This team does indeed make the playoffs next year if we get 2 new coordinators and a few players via FA and Draft. That's if we keep all our guys.

If the injury gods are on our side we should challenge for a SB.

  2. Impossible to think we would have won this game if that TD counts. Every single play that occurs after it dramatically changes with that TD.

We may have scored that TD and lost by 20.

Not with the way our D was playing. 15 Miami points all came off turnovers with less than two min left in the half. If that TD counts, Ravens don't need to push in the last 2 mins. Ravens don't need to go for it on 4th down. If that TD counts we win 99%

  3. I would draft a franchise corner in the first round. Because we dont have one. Hopefully one of those corners out of flordia come out. Ive lost all faith in webby hes washed up and jimmy walked into that big contract he got because he was injured most of his rookie contract and he fooled everyone by showing flashes, but its clear to see now hes not that guy we can rely on. hes not a number one corner

    Why so harsh bro?

I honestly wouldn't mind drafting a CB or pass rusher with our first round any year if the player is the best on the board. You can never have enough pass rushers or cornerbacks. But to lose all faith in Webby is a bit too harsh to me. hes been playing much better of late. I'd even go as far as claiming hes the best tackler in our secondary behind Hill. Hes playing great at the nicle. Maybe my heart is saying this more than my head but over the past 3 weeks, Webb has played like the best nickle CB in the NFL. Just don't line him up against opposing #1 WRs. J.Smith didn't have flashes. He took out the opposing #1 reciever week after week until he got hurt. Hes still a great CB but is having a down year coming off a complicated injury and bad schematic year for the secondary as a group. Last but not least, Drafting a CB early in the draft doesn't guarantee pluging a whole at our #2 CB. Converting from NCAA to NFL is really tough on secondary players. If we draft a CB early next year. Don't expect him to outplay J.Smith untill later in the year or maybe even the year after that. Thats just how it goes CB's take time...

  4. That's a loss that actually made me smile.

The D has been playing better and better and just dominated this game!

The 15 points were scored on a freakish minute and a half before halftime.

Trestman finally trusted the runing game and moved the ball beautifully. Schaub threw horrible passbut the WRs bailed him out a few times.

7 points were taken away with a horrible PI call.

That third and 4 down was a good call by harbs. U gotta get a damn yard when your down there.

I don't feel bad abt that game at all

  5. No Kidding. I think he looks for his opportunities.  He had one of these in the preseason this year that took a few years off my life.  No Tucker, NO!  This game has no meaning and you are too valuable, then WHACK.  Tucker popped up a lot faster than the guy with the ball did.  You get the impression that he was a linebacker or a DB in a former life.

I swear this guy cracks me up. The commentator said something like "justin tucker has only allowed 3 kicks to be returned out of the end zone all season"

The next kickoff, the guy runs it out instead of taking a touchback. I'm thinking to myself damn he jinxed it. 2 seconds later my friend looks at me and asks "Was that your kicker?"

    Hell yeah it was!

  6. We likely won't have nearly that much.

If you read RSR's report, after we tender our RFAs and ERFAs and earmark cap space for draft picks, we will be right against the cap, so basically no cap space.

So while we can create space in all the methods he listed, keep in mind that's also excluding any extensions we give to players, such as Tucker, Upshaw, KO, etc.

My guess is we will be around $10-15M in space, which isn't nothing, but its in the bottom third of the league. And we've got plenty of holes to fill with that money, so I don't expect us to be big players in FA this offseason as usual.

Realistically speaking we wont have that much cap space available to pull of what the jets pulled off but yeah we will have some flexibility and the option to not lose a single player from this squad. I don't even remember when the ravens entered an off-season and didn't lose a few starters. Call me Mr purple cool aid if you want but i for one actually like this squad. I don't wanna bore you with details but i think this is a playoff team that just didn't click at the right time or at the same time. We are not miles away from making a Super Bowl run but we need to get it together efficiency on offense is vital and consistancy on D is a must. The quality is there but the Chemistry is waaaaaay off. FO must take a good look at our coaches. All of them and make sure they are on the same page. Then give them a present or two via FA or Trade. Then follow up with a solid draft and we are back in business.

  7. I still am not impressed with Pass Happy Trestman. Last year Ravens were 8th in running and now 18. Three straight passes from the Ravens end zone with Matt as QB! Just asking for trouble. Ravens are going to run into a playoff caliber team and that's where reality is going to slap the snot right out of them.

Trestman seems like a nice guy and quarterbacks like him. But it really scares me that he's so committed to throwing the ball all over the place. Even with a backup QB, 3 backup linemen, no goto WR and hed still throw the ball every time if he could.

  8. Thank you for fighting till the final whistle!

As a die hard fan, that's all I can ask for and that's exactly what I'm getting. Thank you harbs for keeping your word and huge thank you to the players for playing like Ravens. I don't care about a top ten pick, that's one rookie that could work out or could get hurt or be a bust. A wining mentality is priceless and invaluable to a franchise. Much more important than securing a top ten pick

  9. He was released awhile ago. Seems to have lost his fire and is a flop. I know the Ravens need help, but nobody else is chomping at the bit to get him.

He was released yesterday and claimed off waivers by the Dolphins today. I wouldn't call him a flop but a victim of one of the deepest lines in the NFL and they don't wanna pay him 7.5 mil next year. Wouldn't call him a flop just yet ;)

    1

  10. Even though we'll likely get top 10 picks in each round, I'm looking more forward to Free Agency next year than the draft. It's not exactly rare, but it is uncommon to have rookies serve as foundational pieces of deep playoff runs.

There are a lot of variables involved in the cap picture of course, but there are some probabilistic assumptions we can make about next year. Assuming the cap increases (and it may not be a likely possibility) similar to this year, it'll be around 150 million.

If we assume no contracts or roster changes we're looking at $5.5 million plus in space. But we know there will be extensions, restructures, parting of ways and retirements.

If we extend Joe to flatten him out at 20 million a year we're looking at adding ~5 million more, That's 10 million in space.

We likely part ways with Webby to take the 6 million dead money but save 2.1 million for 2016 bringing the total to 12 million in space.

Pitta is the same. We take $6.6 million in dead money (that'll bring total dead to 12) but free up 600k.

If Steve Smith indeed does retire it's an added 3 million to the cap space. 15 million total.

Other notable discrepancies between cap figures and dead money are Kyle Arrington and Chris Canty, parting ways with which would raise another 3.7 million. Bringing the total to 18 million.

That's a lot of free agents we can re-tool with. Then you add in the rookie class, a healthy Perriman (G-d willing), our young stud TEs with another year with Joe, etc etc.

There is light at the end of this tunnel.

Only thing I'd add is that if we flatten out flaccos contract at 20 that's 8 mil. So that makes your estimate at around 21. love it!

  11. The compensatory pick formula is based mainly on the size of the contract the leaving FA gets from his new team, and to a lesser extent, the amount of playing time. So, even though Tyrod is starting for his new team and may make the playoffs, his contract was so small that we'll be lucky to get a 7th round comp pick for him.

The only hope for a third rounder would be McPhee, but he's more likely a 4th.

Torrey smith signed for a slightly bigger contract than McPhee. One of them should get us a third rounder. Stewart also may yield us a pick by the way he's playing.

  12. I was hoping we'd get more than two fourth rounders and a sixth. T.smith is starting and t.tayloy is balling. McPhee and Stewart are also playing good football. I hope Lewis has gets demoted to backup role so that we can see what Brooks has to offer and because Lewis counts against us in comp pick formula.

We should get at a third rounder at least. And we should get 4 picks in total.

  13. I like Givens and hope we keep him through next season. I think we need to continue to utilize our young TEs more but NEW LOOK passing offense? Isnt it more accurate to say - Make Shift Passing offense or Replacement Players Passing Offense or Strike Season Passing offense or something like that ? NEW LOOK passing offense..... that's too funny!

I was actually insulted by this headline! "New look offense" that had the ball 7 times in the first half and got as many first downs! An offense that 2 TD drives. One started at the jac 35. Flacco ran for 15 then threw a nice pass for a TD. Then late in the half we had a nice drive for a TD. Other than that we couldn't stay on the field for 2 min at any given time. Second half starts and we give the ball up 3 out of 4 drives. Seriously?! Then we get 1 good drive ending with the go ahead touchdown but wait we call a Flacco rollout to his left with only 1 option to throw to on a 2 pt conversion that would have made it a 3 pt game. Then we get the ball with minutes left in the game and can't even get a fg or run the clock and the rest is history! I found it insulting to our knowledge that no one talks abut how we scored 20 points of 14 drives and literally averaged 1 first down per drive. That's horrendous play calling. Especially after a bye week. Do I even need to mention our pro bowl running back getting the ball as many times as we had possessions?

  14. Jeremy Zuttah - C - Ravens

Ravens placed C Jeremy Zuttah on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, ending his season.

Zuttah went down in the Week 10 loss to the Jaguars. John Urschel will take over as the Ravens' starting center the rest of the way. Zuttah turns 30 next June and was signed to an extension through 2018 when Baltimore acquired him from the Bucs in March of 2014. Prior to going down, Zuttah had graded out as PFF's No. 8 center, excelling both in the run and pass games.

    Nov 18 - 10:59 AM

Ouch! That one hurt. Zuttah is the second most important player on that line behind Yanda. Time to give young guys reps and hope they develop into studs. Praying Flacco doesn't get squashed back there

  15. As I look at other QB and see what they are doing, you can be sure they are not sitting on their butt thinking about their next moves, they are arousing their teammates to go out and do better, Joe Flacco is just to to cool, he has no fire coming from his mouth or in his system, after most 3 and out he goes sit down and wait till his team gets the ball back, he acts like he doesn't even care, Last year I was hoping that the management would give Tyrod Taylor a chance, he's doing a very good job at Buffalo, are the Ravens going to invest all that money to someone who doesn't care if the team's playing bad, It's not the team's fault, It's Flacco's fault, he will never be an ELITE QB, It really tics me off when everyone blaming everyone but Flacco for the Ravens downfall. I gave up on the Ravens 11 games ago beginning last year, with all the hype that the Ravens created in the pre-season, It's a travesty. Put Matt Schaub out on the field [ he can't do any worsts ] and save Flacco health for some future draft picks, he just might do better QBacking another team and while Ozzie's at It fire the coaches and start all over new, they all used up their usefulness

I like the idea or resting Flacco for the season and making schaub earn some of that money we threw his way. That would surely lose us a few more games assuring a top-10 pick. But things don't work that way. Flacco needs to get comfortable in this weird system or Trestman needs to go. Otherwise we start next season exactly where we are now. A few big plays here and there, and a whole bunch of turnovers and 3and outs

  16. Breshard Perriman sucks- plain and simple- because he's like Webb and Jimmy Smith- more on the hospital bed than the playing field. We know what we had in Torrey, we STILL have no idea what Perriman is capable of because he's limping around all the time. This was a bad pick regardless because we're only going to have him (at best) for 3 years out of a 4 year contract- great going Kevin Anderson, I mean Ozzie Smith!

Perriman is a first rounder and the Ravens have an option to keep Perriman for a 5th year. So worst case scenario the guy got hurt and missed the year. Why are we calling him a bust before you see him play a down?

  17. 1- J.Smith came back from a really complicated injury and now is when he should be getting closer to 100%. We really need him to play like we all know he can.

2- Flacco finally has a deep threat that he can loft the ball to when he's in trouble. We have also seen this O finally grasp Trestmans schemes. I won't get too excited because it was the pathetic chargers D but I hope that we can play efficient from now on.

3- This D is much more talented than they have been playing lately. I'm glad Pees back is on the wall and hope that he spices up his play calling a bit.

4- Thinking of a 8-0 finish is crazy at the moment but I still believe that this team can make the playoffs. We must beat the Jaguars and then win 5 of the next 7 to have a chance. Call me crazy but I believe in my Ravens till the clock says 0 and if I'm not mistaken it's still halftime!

5- I appreciate that we haven't raised the white flag and continue to fight. That's all we can ask for at the moment. If we get that we will continue to show up and support. Even if we are 2-13. Just fight!

6- Ravens fans hang in there. I promise things will get better soon. We need every remaining home game. I don't see the Broncos, patriots or packers coming to town so every game is a winnable game. 12th man please stand up!

  18. Monroe has called out sick four out of eight games this year alone. Hurst showed early promise, but is probably not the guy. We need more competition at left tackle or its probably time to make a move. Our blind side is vulnerable!

In my humble opinion, it's surely time to make a move. A team needs 8 quality linemen to finish a season because the nature of the position makes them so prone to injuries. Yanda KO Monroe and Zuttah can start on almost any NFL team if healthy. Wagner played great last year and I wouldn't mind him starting again next year. That's 5 guys. Urschel and Hurst show potential but that's about it. By next year, both will be quality backups. The drop off from our starters to our backups is not as bad as it was in previous years but there's stil a drop off. If we keep all our guys and draft an "unsexy" lineman with one of our first 3 picks then we'd have a solid line for next season. If we lose KO to free agency then we have a problem. Then we'd need to replace a pro bowler and bring in someone that would push hurst and urschel for minutes. Once again we need 8 guys. At the moment we have 5 and 2 developing.

  19. It's never good to punch your wife/girlfriend. There is never a time it's "ok" or to say in this case it made sense. She's half his weight and was no threat to him, he could have grabbed her and restrained her...instead he punched her out cold. So...it's not good. But compared to Hardy, it's not the same level of domestic violence...but still violence.

They're both wrong. One is domestic violence and the other is abuse. Big difference but both undeniably wrong ;)

  20. I have not defended Ray Rice before now because I'm really pissed off at this nonsense! Rice didn't abuse his wife or threaten her in any way. She sure as hell wasn't afaraid of him in the elevator and wasn't afraid of him just days after. Ray made a horrible mistake and struck a woman! That woman is the mother of his child and the love of his life! Did he make a mistake? Of course he did! But look at at this guys resume..... Look at all the good he did before and after this stupid mistake...... Come on man! We are supposed to solve this not make it worse. If anything, this is so not fair to his wife or his daughter. Who's gonna support them and who's gonna provide for that family? Two wrongs don't make a right! So Janay Rice gets knocked out in an elevator, then gets robbed of her dignity as this goes public, then her loved one loses everything, then they go broke. The media and women righ advocates really got this one wrong..... Ray rices life got destroyed just for the NFL to learn a way around allowing these things to harm their image.

Greg Hardy should be in rehab as we speak. Based on his previous actions, he is a threat to any woman involved with him. He's still a multi millionaire. Teams are still drafting guys with checkerd pasts. Teams don't get punished and players still get to play. Who are the real victims here? Who's paying the price?

Greg Harry should have never been released by the Panthers until this case was resolved. The team should have been somewhat accountable. I'm not saying they should be blamed but held accountable to correct this horrible mistake! If a player becomes an alcoholic he should not be released until his team makes sure he does rehab! If a player commits murder, he stays on his team until the issue is resolved or the guy goes to jail. This system is so flawed in so many ways! And it's always a few that pay the price for the mistakes of the majority. Then teams that have media in their back pocket jump to the opportunity to help their team regardless of what off field crap their players get in.

Someone please respond if you feel I'm out of line. I just feel horrible because we have been lied to by the NFL over and over again. And the good ones always pay the price.

    3

  21. Can we get rid of the 8-0 nonsense already? You don't go 8-0 by claiming it but by aproaching every week like it's your last. Every game like it's your last. And every play like your life depended on it.

Trestman:- it's mid season. This team needs to show signs of consistency. People around here have been praising this offense because we are in the top 10 in total yards. Well that wasn't fair because we played one more game than most teams and now show me the stars. Half our yards came in the last 10 min of games when opponents are just playing prevent. This offense has not played like a top 10 offense for the majority of the season. Now it's on you mark to prove to us that this team grasps your system and indeed we can play efficient football.

On D, well the writing is on the wall for pees. I can smell his rotten behind from that box he's always in. It's not a matter of will he be a member of the Ravens next year. It's a matter of will he even be on an NFL team? This nonsense has to stop. We still have enough playmakers to dominate games on D. Look at the schedule and ask yourself how many more teams will score 30 on us?

A strong finish to this season starts today! Il take a 6-2 finish as it could throw us into the playoffs somehow. None of this matters if we can't focus and win our next game. The Jaguars are pathetic. So are we if we don't make them look pathetic.

    Ravens all the way!
