Wow 9 mil is a bit more than I expected but heck, if your gonna over pay a bit then a 25 year old playmaker is where you do it!
2 hours ago, rmcjacket23 said:Well, I guess we have our answer as to why Woodhead is here.
Dixon got suspended.
I told you it was an odd move lol
that basically explains it! Woodhead is here for more than just third down duties and probably more than just RB duties.

But it looks like he's exclusively a pass catching back and wr with other stuff sprinkled in. So it's not like he'll be taking many if any handoffs. If he's healthy, he actually might be a decent insurance back, slot and extra scat wr, and possible returner. I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Might be a good signing. I also try to see the absolute best in a player/ their situation once they first join the Ravens. I hope he can return. Him and Camp would be a sweet return tag team. We tendered camp at 1.8 mil
If we use him as all 3. Slot, RB, and returner then we def get our money's worth. As Dixon develops he'll eventually carry the load but I have no clue why we spend 1.8 mil on camp and 1.8 mil on West. That 3.5 mil can be spent elsewhere...
your bsolutely right. Woodhead is a lot of fun to watch. Elusive smart guy.
12 minutes ago, rmcjacket23 said:No, I'm saying West and Dixon are going to compete for snaps, and Woodhead is going to play 3rd down. I'm not sure why people think that a $2M tender automatically gives West a starting job... $2M players are typically backup/role players in this league.
I have zero interest in AP or Charles, and most of the league seems to feel the same way. Actually hard to see what value they would bring to the team.
Again, too many fans thinking of Woodhead as a traditional RB. I see him far more as an option in the passing game (2 minute drills, late in games, etc.) and as a significant upgrade in pass protection, which fans often overlook.
He's a small guy but can sure block. He's 30+Y/O coming off a knee injury. So are AP and Charles how are they worth no value in comparison to Woodhead?
if the FO really liked him then let go of west and use that 2 mil somewhere else
45 minutes ago, rmcjacket23 said:Will preface this by saying that its an "odd" signing. But...
I don't think fans are realistically banking on Allen or Taliaferro as contributors, so that leaves you with West and Dixon.
I like Dixon's versatility, but he's not great in pass protection from what I've seen, and Woodhead is as good of a 3rd down back as I've seen in this league.
If we're looking to add playmakers, Woodhead certainly qualifies.
So your basically saying west is gona play 1st and 2nd downs ( 2 mil tender) and Woodhead is here to play third downs. Dixon is their backup.
Yes it's an upgrade from last year, but It sucks because it feels like we wasted a 3rd and 4th on Allen and tallifaro. Im not sure it's enough of an upgrade to warrant spending around 6 mil more on RB position. That's the odd part.
i really hope I'm wrong but that investment could have landed us JCharles or A.Peterson or any RB in FA. I really like Woodhead as a player but I'm not sure he's the best signing for the Ravens...

I suspect that we may lose some hard core fans over this fiasco as well. Its just plain idiotic from my perspective because we had people chime in from all over the world. So where do we get to bash Harbs, Pees, and Flacco now? It is heart breaking!!
Indeed it would be. This sucks!
Connor Barwin please!!!!!!!
perfect fit! He does it all! Please Ozzie please pull the trigger! Our D would be so unpredictable with him and Jefferson blitzing from anywhere!
Jefferson could be the best move for the Ravens this off season. I'm so happy we finally landed a top teir player in FA.
Woodhead is a player that Iv always respected and liked. He's 32 coming off an ACL so I'm sceptical to see the numbers before I get too excited.
juice Doom and Wagner. Thank you for some great years in Bmore. Best of luck except against the Ravens.
I honestly hoped we'd get something in return for Doom and Webb instead of just flat out cutting them. But again, were probably not getting more than a 6th or 7th so let them go wherever they want and hope other vet FAs pick up on how classy this organization is with vets.
does anyone know if Jefferson and Woodhead count against the comp pick formula?
also, theoretically speaking can the Ravens retract any of the tenders they placed on players?
Finally some good news! Phew.
What are the numbers?
Oh wow! i thought the FO would somehow find a way to keep Juice but they certainly weren't even close when SF throw 5.5 mil a year! Pissed off and kinda dissapointed coz I thought we'd keep him...
2 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:rapoport suggested on nfl network that he wouldnt be surprised if doom comes back to the ravens
Il take that if we free up 2 mil or so to use on someone
17 minutes ago, ellicottraven said:So terrible. How you get rid of Dumervil and keep Pitta is beyond me. Doom will prove to be a sure fire 10+ sacks guy in 2017 for another team and Pitta will continue to hamstring both our offense and will help in the continued regression of our very own Joe Flacco! Pitta needs to be gone ASAP so our offense can breathe new life and give Flacco 10 other options besides Pitta alone. It'll force Flacco to see the whole field eventually. With Pitta in, Flacco'e eyes will follow Pitta to the end of the earth.
I don't think pitta had anything to do with deciding to let go of Doom. But I know this for sure. Pass rush is Baltimores most glaring need and also the weakest position in FA. There's also no guarantee that a top tier Rookie falls to the Ravens on draft day so.....
Ozzie, your on the clock! Fix this
Best of luck to Wagner. 9 mil is tough to justify. Thank you for 4 great years in Baltimore. If every 5th rounder gave us what Wagner gave us we'd win another SB.
ozzie just said I can spend that 9 mil better elsewhere so let's see what you got. Ball is in your court! And a nice comp pick next will have me thanking Wagner again.
8 hours ago, rmcjacket23 said:We didn't have that much dead money last year and had plenty to spend on FAs, which we did (more so than usual in fact).
This post seems extremely out of touch with reality.
Thank you lol
Great article. Thank you for taking the time to put this all together in a way that people can actually understand how the salary cap works.
B.marshall is probably the best option for the Ravens for 2017, Garçon may be the best fit for this offense for the next 3 years, Prior may have the most potential but Id still want Torrey back!
Hed ask for probably half of anyone else and I refuse to believe that he just fell off a cliff in 2 years.
12 minutes ago, bioLarzen said:To be honest, I've never understood this whole "hometown discount" idea. For what does it even mean? "You've done a great job for us, we'r really delighted with your performance - so, we're honouring and acknowledging it by offering you less than your market value and hope you'll take it."
And fans get mad when the palyer says no thank you...
Most of the time, you've already grossly underpaid that same player for a few years because of the rookie pay structure.
ozzie to Wagner and Williams. "Iv payed you less than half your market value for 4 years. How bout you take another paycut to stay"
Im honestly starting to think... If Ozzie really wanted Wagner and or Williams then negotiations would have started last year. Ozzie certainly would have paid them slightly above market deals with guarantees mostly in the front part. He's betting that he can spend that cap better somewhere else and take those comp picks. Probably a 3rd and a 4th.
There's absolutely no way Joe takes a pay cut, that's for sure. But there is a way if needed to drop his cap hit by giving him that 6 mil and moving the hit to 2021 where none of joes salary is guaranteed
SSS is killing it as an analyst! He doesn't always have the right charisma facing the camera but that comes with experience. Otherwise, his insight and knowledge is just priceless.

Would Hankins count against comp pick formula?
20 hours ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:Yea, this is i think what the ppl saying we will keep Zuttah are missing.
The FO said OL is a priority, getting bigger, stronger, and nastier.
We know Stanley, Lewis and Yanda are set. They're trying to resign Wagner to a big deal.
There's only one spot left. So if we assume their desire to make a change on the OL is true.... then, it has to be Zuttah.
Why can't we have both? If we lose Wagner then slide zuttah to G and start mangold at C with Lewis playing RT, draft a lineman day 2 and 3?

I think the felony charges are overblown. I also think his poor play can be attributed to injuries as he couldn't push anyone out of their route untill late in the season. With that being said, I think Revis still has some football in him but not as Revis island. Maybe as a good or above average CB. And no, he's not a Safety and shouldn't even try to make that move.
4 hours ago, The Raven said:I could see us getting Marshall and/or Mangold, but not Gilmore. Tbh I only see us getting one of the three tops
I personally wouldn't have minded if Ozzie traded late picks for mangold and marshal to ensure landing them a few weeks back. Now that they are both FAs I its a no brainier. Bring them in an lock the damn doors!
as far as Gilmore, I'm a huge fan of his play but he's probably gonna demand more money than both marshal and mangold combined. It's ok coz this FA class is flooded with CBs and so is this draft.

I also get a kick out of laughing at the Browns mystery lol
But in all seriousness. They have a solid foundation for once. They have playmaker on every level and have rolled over so much cap space from previous years. They also had a solid draft last year and have a million picks the next two so even if they miss out on half their picks they still get a few more starters. I wouldn't be too surprised if they make noise sooner than later
