There's also Mike and Maurkice Pouncey (15 and 18) recently.
All have paid off in major dividends for their drafted teams.
They did indeed pay dividents but keep in mind, all of the players you listed really lit it up in college. No C in this class is as physically gifted and NFL ready as the likes of Pouncy and Mack.

I've heard people talking about what Williams could bring to us in the trade market, which I would only want to exercise that idea if we took Howard as a BPA pick. We could also cut Watson and move Boyle to FB as I've heard people talk about, but I'm not sure about how I feel about this.
I dont think Williams gets us much in return if we trade him. Maybe a 5th if were lucky. He has great hands, he's strong enough to block, and has enough speed to gain seperation. Problem is hes never healthy long enough to develop those physical abilities into football talent. Watson and Arrington are as good as gone pending they pass a physical. (consider their cap savings the money we need to sign our draft class). I honestly would be lying if i claimed i know what Boyle would offer as a FB. Lets give him a try i guess lol
5 minutes ago, purpletide said:We also need to get an offensive identity this year. I'd like to see that become one that involves a powerful run game. I'm still really high on Howard as a big playmaker in the blocking and receiving game.
Amen to a running game! Thank you!
Howard is a freak of nature and will be a start in this league. I'm probably Higher on him than you are. I see him as a top 10 talent. Yes a TE in the top 10. I just don't see the FO letting go of pitta after redoing his contract. Neither can I see them giving up on Williams or Gilmore just yet. If he somehow falls to us then Ozzies phone wil be ringing with trade offers

Like when we hired Trestman and lost week 1, in Denver...had people calling for his job. its literally been one week (actually 6 days) and we have made 3 good signings in my opinion and people are losing their mind. I want to address the OL as well....but you cant fix every position in a single off-season
I absolutely agree there's still a lot of offseason left and so far Ozzie has been killing it! I disagree tho on the Trestman part. We all knew exactly what he was or wasn't coming from Chicago! We knew how stubborn he was and still kept him for 20 games when he showed no intentions of playing to the teams strength. He single handedly ruined a formula that was working and contaminated so many in the building as he left. Thus, the door knocked him all the way to Canada on his way out.
7 hours ago, kjbmore said:Our defense held up reasonably well, our offense just couldn't sustain drives or get into the red zone
we havent done anything to change that other than the addition of woodhead
im just being a realist, our offense struggled last season and so far it's a year older with a few less pieces
im concerned
I think it's valid to be concerned when you lose your best WR and two starting linemen but I'm still optimistic that we'll have a better season.
1- Flacco had a horrible season! Blame the scheme, play calling, Oline, his knee, or any combination that caused efficiency to drop. But that really was as bad as it gets. I'm not expecting him to be a top 5 QB but i have a hard time believing he can't play better than 15 or 20 QBs at worst. That's all we need and everything else is a bonus.
2- Oline was a mess last year. Injuries played a part but that wasn't it. No one was on the same page! Worst case scenario, we add a 3rd rounder and 5th rounder and force them to start between Yanda Lewis and Stanley. Add a FA on the cheap later on to push the rooks for playing time. That's worst case scenario and I still belive that line shouldn't be anything less than top 10.
3- We did lose SSS but I'm confident that perriman will build on his strong finish to last season and Wallace really had a good year just got less targets as there weren't enough balls to go around when SSS came back. Gilmore and Williams also mean Pitta can play more as a slot rather than attempt to block someon. I would like to add another diverse pass catcher (any redzone threat) but I'm not as concerned as many are.
I believe on offense we just need to be a bit more efficient. on D, this team already is a better than the one that finished the year. Keep in mind it was too 5 before Jimmy went down. Sucks loosing Orr but I suppose it's not that hard to play besides Mosley, behind Bwill, with Weddle and Jefferson protecting ur back.
If my math is correct, we still have 12-15 mil to spend in FA and I hope Ozzie won't be shy to spend it. Then a Draft to look forward to.
I'm sorry but that's hillarious! We moved up 12 spots in the 6th round. Really?...
Just let the guy walk allowing him to chose his destination if that's all we get in return. Am I missing something?
3 minutes ago, The Mom Gene said:Point was they let him go.. He couldn't have been that valuable to them either
If that was your point then touché. It is sadly hillarious to expect much from someone who the bucs didn't even see that much value in. I guess we were that desperate after Gino almost got Joe killed
Wow! I can't believe all the hate being directed towards Zuttah....
sure i also desired a little more out of the C position last year but to call zuttah a bust or horrible is so uncalled for. The guy was the 14th highest paid C in football and played through various injuries and various OLine combinations.
tell me 15 better centers and il concede that Zuttah was as horrible as advertised. Hoping for an upgrade is one thing but hating on a guy that was a huge upgrade from Gradkowski is unfair in my eyes. When was the last time Flacco fumbled?.... We literally didn't hear of Zuttah for 2 years at one time because he was pritty damn good.
do I believe Zuttah declined a bit. Yes, but please don't call him a failure when he just came back from a pro bowl. He was payed average money and played above average for his total duration. Now it's time to move on and hope for better. Just don't go out on a limb and start character ads assasining Zuttah to prove a point.
well know more details later but I think something is being kept from us...
Your already been missed Orr. You certainly earned every penny

I'm a huge fan of McCaffery myself but did you just say he's hands down better than Edlman?
no rookie is hands down better than a proven thousand yard receiver before they play an NFL snap
2 hours ago, The Mom Gene said:There was a reason that Tampa released him to begin with. Very often he was pushed back into Joe. The guy wasn't that great of a Center to begin with.
Tampa didn't release him. We traded for him lol
This move doesn't really free up a lot of cap so I'm a bit surprised that it happened this year instead of next year. I hoped we'd sign someone like Mangold and make zuttah the first guy off the bench in case of serious injuries.
The way I look at it is that we have 3 good starters in Lewis, Stanley, and Yanda. We have 2 descent backups in Urschel and Jensen. We need 2 more starters and 1 backup (preferably better than Jensen an Urschel) because we all know what happened the last two years when both started together.
chop chop Ozzie. You promised an improved line!
27 minutes ago, sizzlingdoom said:Wow. 100% agree with everything you just said. I'm thinking Barnett then a corner in the 2nd, or vise versa so to speak.
But I'm losing it thinking how perfect Zach Brown is to fill a huge hole for us! As lights out as Orr was last year, I sincerely believe Brown would be an upgrade vs the run and pass. If we added Barnett, Brown, and a corner in the second, I have a hard time thinking we wouldn't be the number 1 D the whole year, by a decent gap too. That would include setting NFL run defense records. Adding Brown and Jefferson over Webb and Orr vs the run would be large upgrades. Our defense would be a wall. Weddle would literally be the worst tackler in the starting lineup, which says something. We've gotta sign Brown!!!!
Indeed that would be a nasty D!
7 hours ago, hen826957 said:Ruben Foster is a great pick but l believe it more important in the draft is either a Passrusher like Derek Barnett or a corner. We actually can find the perfect replacement for Orr right now with "Zach Brown" still available. I'm surprise he still on the market. The guy is underrated and made the Pro Bowl last year. The guy is a tackling machine made 149 tackles, 4 sacks, a 1 pick and he's good in coverage. He will make our defense more scarier.
Great post. That really got me thinking....
zach brown is still out there?! What wrong with the bills lol.
id actually like that approach very much. When the NFL disrespects MLBs Ozzie finds value. Not sure about Barnett after he ran a 4.88 40 but still wouldn't mind taking the best CB.
22 minutes ago, stixfix69 said:In a 3-4 th NT is the key, he caves in the interior line so the pass rushers can get to the QB. He was paid what the market called for, and we all know today's contracts are really about the guaranteed money, and i imagine like all the others it will be restructured a few times over the next few years...Jefferson IMO is the sleeper signing for us, he was the highest rated SS out there, but h is smart, understands the game, and has the ability to play the box, and cover, and only 25.....My big time hope is we sign a proven ILBer to replace Orr, a high motor will LBer who can play sideline to sideline, physical, and can be decent in coverage, losing Orr was a punch in the gut...
That was a huge blow indeed. Just when I though we were set at ILB for years, poor Orr goes down. Il throw you a curve ball....
Theres this kid from Alabama called Ruben Foster that was considered the best linebacker in the nation pre combine. none of the mocks had him falling past 15. Then this kid got into an argument at a hospital and sent home before the combine. Soooo..... Ozzie has enough connections at Alabama to know if this was a one time thing or if this guy is a nut. Well he's certainly a headless chicken on the field and would solve or ILB search for years if we land him. If Ozzie thinks he's worth keeping on our board then I would not be surprised at all if Ozzie takes him. Just his play on the field makes him a top 5 talent. Remember how Mosley just came in and balled. I'd argue this guy may be even better than Mosley was coming out of college.
2 hours ago, ellicottraven said:I don't know why but I think we put too many eggs in the B. Williams basket and it is going to hamstring us quite a bit. Didn't we learn anything from the Flacco contract? Don't get me wrong because I did want the Ravens to retain Williams but at a reasonable contract, not giving a nose tackle a pass rusher kind of contract and not giving Tony Jefferson - a safety a top CB type contract. But, here we are and all we can do is hope they outperform their contracts unlike others that have received mega deals.
I get your concern but I think theyr a bit over blown. Bwill is on a 10.5 mil a year deal. That's fair when you compare it to Suh who makes 20 and that contract was signed 2 years ago. Jefferson is making 8.5 mil a year and turned down 1.5 mil more from other teams (top CB money is double that). Theyr good deals, especially when you consider that we can easily get out of them in 2-3 years the way theyr structured. Also, we have about 40 mil to spend next year before we make moves to free up more cap. Relax, the salary cap pickle is over.
Wow! This discussion got heated up fast!
I would welcome Boldin back if he accepts the same money that we offered to hurst, camp, and Jensen. That said, I would welcome him more because of my love for his game than anything else. At this point in his career, he won't offer much more than a redzone target (yes he's better than anyone we have in the redzone) and a mentor to Perriman.
arguing that Boldin will win us another super bowl is 4 years too late but I still love Q and think he has something to offer if he does end up in Baltimore. I have to admit tho, I expected more than just a 3rd WR in FA. I was hoping for someone like a B.Marshall or Garçon but those ships have sailed.
On another note, retracting the tenders on Huff and Roll makes a lot more sense than spending 3.4 million on backups of backups. If we land Clayborn and Webb then we start the season with arguably the best secondary in the NFL
Congrats Bwill! Just don't eat the whole thing by yourself lol

I think you are way, WAY off on this. It is clear to ME that in one year Judon has the tools to surpass McPhee completely.
I respect your opinion and I really hope your right. Judon did show flashes of being great but kind of faded as the year went on. For that reason, I wouldn't hand him the reigns just yet but I'd gladly admit that I was wrong if he gets 10 sacks and earns a starting role.
3 hours ago, RaRaRavens said:Why the hell should he?! That's what keeps him hungry, motivated, his motor going and trying to prove everyone wrong. I hope he remains haunted and wants to prove every other 31 teams who we might face that they made the biggest mistake when not drafting him.
This kind of passion is extremely rare sight here in Baltimore ever since 2012, shame on you for wanting it to end.
I think you completely missed my point here lol
im commending him for already proving 31 teams wrong and now it's time he channels that hunger into winning a SB and maybe perhaps contaminating everyone around him.
im not sure if I deserve you telling off like "shame on you" but heck I love the passion it came from and that passion is indeed contagious!
keep bleeding purple brother! Liked...
Please don't. Why would you still be haunted by that draft when you are currently the highest rated and paid SS free agent in the NFL. You already proved everyone wrong. Now it's time to get hungry for a championship
5 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:I don't believe that's how it works.
The contract only effects what happens between the Jets and Revis -- not the team that signs him.
Revis will make at minimum the $6 or $8m whatever it is. If we paid him $2m, the Jets would have to pay him the difference.
If someone pays him $10m the Jets don't have to pay anything. It only comes into play if Revis makes less than the contract number and the Jets won't be paying anything FOR his new team.
They only pay Revis if his new team doesn't pay him up to that threshold.
Thanks for clearing that up
Either way, I don't think any GM is stupid enough to offer him more than 6 mil at this point lol
