  1. If the intention is to compete for a job then no. No rookie is gonna come in to push Flacco for his job. If the intention is having a solid backup on a cheap rookie deal then yes. It's not that out of the ordinary to see teams invest high draft picks on QBs when you have a franchise QB. Saints drafted a QB in the third two years ago and the Chargers took took Eli/Rivers when they had Breese. A.Rodgers was drafted in the first when Favre was the starter. Brady has a second round QB sitting on the bench. P.Manning had a third rounder in Brock oswiler backing him up for 3 years. Dak Prescott was drafted in the fourth with Romo the starter ad Cousins was drafted in the third when the franchise QB was RG3 I think that's a good enough list for you to recognize that it's not as simple as taking a day 3 guy and hoping he becomes a good backup.
  2. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he does win it. Also il def give you credit for calling it a year ago when none of us could even spell his name. Oh wait we still can't lol in all seriousness, Levine is probably a just a backup. A really good one at that but he's probably a third down guy if he earns it. "Onwuasor" won't be competing with Levine. to solidify your point, Onwuasor won't need to do too much with Mosley next to him, Wedle and Jefferson behind him, and Bwill in front of him. That mean streak got him in some trouble but il gladly take it if he strikes fear in WRs running inside.
  3. Well said. Our sub packages are going to be amazing. Our players can blitze from any situation. Last but not least, we can handle injuries if they come. We were lucky last year but if history is an indicator then you eventually will play without one of your starting safeties sooner or later so we are prepared for that as well. to whoever mentioned his 3.5 mil a year salary as steep. Just keep in mind that K.Lewis and K.Arrington were scheduled to make 2.5 a piece so we're good.
  4. I'm actually surprised you'd say that. Of course I don't look at X beat Y but when it comes to linemen, i look at the top guys he went against and I like to see how they do against each other. I don't care what Cam did againsts mideocre pass rushers but I do care about how he looks against future NFL pass rushers. Of course stats don't say the complete story but I specifically look for plays after he gets beat. How he reacts when he has no help or how he reacts when he's caught off guard. Stuff like that. And when it comes to linemen, you have to look at every single snap. Like you mentioned. Stats are so deceiving at times.
  5. What happened to your optimism?! If we draft like last year and address the Oline like we have addressed other positions this offseason then I'd say this team should be dangerous
  6. If that's how you justify it then I'm not debating that. Great post
  7. Well he played LT at Alabama and handled Garrett prity well. That's probably why people had him top 10 before the combine. great point, that's big praise when you call cam elite and compare him to Zack Martin
  8. A few months ago Cam was considered a top 10 talent because his film screamed Pro Bowl LT. Then he had a rough combine and evaluators started saying stuff like he'd be a great RT so he started falling on mocks. Now there's serious consideration of just sliding him inside and utilizing his strength. Add some off field stuff surfacing. Thus he's fallen as low as mid second round in some mocks. I'd love it if we somehow land him in the second. I'd find it hard to justify using the 16th overall on a LG
  9. Absolutely, Maax showed a lot of promise but injuries have hindered his development. I also loved seeing Gilmore in action and hope beyond hope that those two can stay healthy as take that next step. Im also extreemly excited to see what Kafusi has to offer but I don't want to get too hyped then get my heart broken. All three of those guys listed are not the FO fault but just bad luck. Correa on the other hand scares the heck out of me. I think he can be a top pass rusher in this league but don't get why we are trying to convert him to ILB. out of those 4. I just want 2 to pan out and I'm good lol
  10. Well if teams seem like theyr using the same cheat sheet then that makes them predictable and should be advantage to us. Wev don't great by drafting small school guys and betting on them taking the next step. Like B.Williams and Judon in later rounds. Wev also done a pritty nice job taking a conservative best player avaliable in the first round. Second round is where our calculated risks havnt necesarrily panned out. Still hoping Correa and Max williams would have done us wonders if they turned out to be like Jernigan at least but heck, you can't have it all.
  11. Glad to have Webb back. We officially have a top 5 secondary that can handle injuries as they come.
  12. I agree, he certainly would struggle against 6"3 WRs. If Young young keeps improving like he did last year then he might matchup better against smaller guys like Odell, stills, a.Brown, and those elusive WRs. Jimmy can handle the bigger guys and he usually does great against them.
  13. I think Webbs release had more to do with the 5.5 mil in cap savings when Jefferson became a viable option. I don't think that our FO saw Safety as an urgent need when the season ended but couldn't resist having a guy in Jefferson who they really liked and could afford by releasing Webb. Well turns out we still have cap space and Webb is avaliable. Heck why not bring him back? He'd be the best backup in the NFL and would get some playing time when we lay 3 deep. Weddle and Jefferson are a Ferrari and Webb is their full coverage insurance lol
  14. As much as the Jernigan trade hurt me, there still is light at the end of the tunnel. Between Kafusi, Davis, Henry, and Urban. We have two third rounders and two fourth rounders that have had some time to develop. I expect Judon to get some snaps as a DE on obvious passing downs. Pierce will also get some playing time next to Bwill on obvious run downs and goal line situations. Add whoever we draft or pickup via FA and we still have a stacked interior! its gonna be war for playing time between our interior guys as Bwill is the only guaranteed starter. Indeed it is time to step up!
  15. Dodnt be surprised. After all, Ozzie passed up on getting more picks twice to move up in a specific round. if this means anything, then it means Ozzie doesn't want 11 picks this year as we don't have enough roster spots to keep them all. not saying lets trade for Richardson but don't cancel out the possibility of a trade just yet
  16. 1- your missing my point. Don't force a trade! We could have kept him and released him draft day for all I care 2- I know he was a goner but bu releasing him you tell everyone that your desperate. Again your missing my point. Keep him so you don't have to over pay for whoever you bring. If someone offered us a 5th then yes you capitalize on the value. We forced a trade to move up 8 picks in the 6th round?! That's not necesarry. I would have been ok with cutting him for nothing the day we sign his replacement (draft or FA) 3- its called sarcasm. Of course I only brought up Gino as a joke, you didn't have to write two paragraphs lol again it's not about getting a better offer as much as not showing your cards since the trade was really worthless. Cutting him a month later wouldn't have changed anything in out approach in FA but it might have given us leverage to trade for a lineman. Or sign someone in FA. Now we seem desperate and that's my concern. I honestly hope you get my point this time..
  17. Only of the top 2 are still on the board
  18. Starting to lean towards drafting a CB of one of the top 2 are available in the first round. if not, wait till the third because we have two good picks and the quality from the 5th best to the 15th best CB are almost identical. so many guys with elite physical traits but need some developing
  19. And harbs might put him in the dog house before he even barks lol
  20. 1- Cap space was and still is irrelevant when it comes to the timing of Zuttahs trade. 2- like him or hate him, we should have kept zuttah untill we have an upgrade signed. 3- its foolish to call a pro bowl center not that good. He was the best we had since Gino Gradkowski 4- if mangold had no leverage then he would have taken anything we offered him i honestly think we could have kept zuttah untill after the draft or untill we got a better offer. We didn't need the cap and havnt used it since
  21. I don't just like the guy! I love him! I also don't think his talent is a secret as he played for Alabama. This id say there's a 25% chance he's on the board when we pick and a 75% percent chance we take himIf he's there regardless of who we draft 16 overall
  22. I actually like urschel a lot as a player and a guy but not as a starter. So if you insist "Crazy" lol
  23. I think we showed our cards waaaay to early by trading zuttah and now Mangold is calling our bluff! His agent knows that we are desperate and that never helps when negotiating for a contract. why did we have to trade zuttah away to move up 12 picks in the 6th round?!
  24. Great idea! Let's talk about anything other than the tough pill to swallow in Jernigans trade lol. Heck il bite coz I love ur comment. if we somehow land all four that you listed then Ozzie and Decosts get an A+ in the whole offseason regardless of what happens with the last 3 picks. The best LT, a great Pass rusher (Suggs JR), and a fantastic Boldin type of WR in Ju Ju. I'm a huge fan of all 3. That's winning right there! I'd disagree with sutton as I hope a few better options being there when it's time to pick. only problem is.... It's very optimistic to think the top 3 you listed are there when we pick.
