  1. You know how every year we look at the board and say "I hope player a, b, and c are there when we draft coz it would be good value and Id be happey with either one"? its still early but this year I see 5 guys absolutely worthy of top 5 and we draft 6th. The only way none of them fall to us is if none of the 5 teams ahead of us take a quarterback and no one trades up and no one reaches for a guy. That's unlikely but if it happens....... I swear id take Goff with our pick and make every quarterback desperate team beg for the clear cut best quarterback in this class. If no one throws a basket of picks at us then il gladly keep goff as the best backup in the NFL in case Joe goes down again. No more circus if Joe goes down until he's 35 as we'd have full coverage on our Bently.
  2. Henry is an intriguing prospect. If he runs a 4.6 at the combine then he probably falls to the end of the second round or maybe even the third. If he runs a 4.5 or less then he may go 20-30 in the first round and start day 1 for a playoff contender. He's no Todd gurley by any means but I wouldn't compare him to Richardson either. If he gets drafted in the top 5 and goes to the Browns then yes he will be a bust lol. I'd say he's a better version of Eddie lacy with less fat and better work ethics. i disagree with you partially RMC as I'm a big fan of this guy and have literally seen him mature so much as a runner over the past 2 years. Part of it is a product of that line but also a big part of it is his patience behind that line and his vision. On highlights the guy seems slow but that's because hes a huge guy. His legs seem like they're moving slowly but every step he takes is a step and a half to most people. (He can glide ten yards with 4 steps) He's breakaway speed dazzles me for a guy that size and his agility and change of direction are so rare for his size. Unfortunately, I also don't see our FO taking him in the second because we have already invested heavily on the position. A third rounder, a fourth rounder, and a pro bowler. Just the presence of henry would mean that we junk one of those guys. Even tho adding Henry to the RB rotation would be a slight upgrade at the position, the real price we pay is ignoring another position where we need to upgrade vs want to upgrade with an early second round pick. Henry would certainly be an interesting curve ball if we take him but I don't see it happening. Because we could get a starting CB, lineman, or pass rusher that early in the second round. Not because Henry is a "BUST or Richardson 2.0" iv seen ozzie throw curve balls before and wouldn't completely eliminate that happening as just a few years ago Ozzie took an Alabama guy (Mosley) with our first round after locking up D.Smith and had traded up for a MLB the year prior (A.Brown) and look how that turned out
  3. Great post! Id like to add that as much as I hate the patriots they are pritty smart when they shake up their lineup. They are one of the best at taking calculated risks. Just last year, they made a few great under the radar moves near the deadline that really filled all their remaining holes and made a nice playoff run. its also unfair to compare any team with them because they have a HOF QB that gets paid less than half his market value. Usually have a goto receiver that makes about half what a goto WR makes (Edleman). I say it's unfair to compare them to other teams because that wouldn't happen on any other squad. Brady and edleman make up for that lost cash in endorcement money and for brady, he really doesn't need it as his public appearances alone make him millions. at any given year, the patriots GM has the luxory of paying his HOF QB and his GOTO WR about 15 percent of the cap vs 30-35 what it would cost most other teams. Welker, and moss also fell into that same category when they were there.
  4. I really really really doubt that Forte's value drops to 2 mil a year. But for this discussion's purpose lets say something happened and he somehow becomes a Raven. 1- He would certainly be an upgrade to anyone we have on the roster for 2016 and your absolutely right. Forsett would probably be gone. 2- Our FO has always been classy when moving on from players. I'm not wishing it comes down to this but if our FO feels the need to move on from Forsett then he should be traded not released. 1- The Ravens are on the hook for 700k this year and 700k next year. Regardless if hes traded or cut and signs another contract with someone else. 2- Forsett was a pro bowler just a year ago and would still add value to so many teams. Denver comes to mind. 3- To avoid burning bridges and doing him dirty, Ozzie needs to be completely transparent with him throughout the process. 4- The easiest thing to do here is to tell Justin something like "look your market value is a 5th rounder but well take a 6th rounder for you if that's the team you want to go to." Then just let him decide where he wants to go and give him a huge thank you hug on his way out.
  5. It seems like everywhere I look, KO is being overlooked by the media. He's not even on some top 40 FA lists, which has given me some optimism of retaining KOs services. I think it's a 50/50 chance we make a good run for keeping him. On the other hand, I'd Think that GMs around the league are a bit smarter and more logical than the media. KO is a pro bowl caliber LG and could comfortably slide to LT if needed. And he's not even in his prime. Do we really have a 50/50 chance or is is more like a 20 percent chance that we resign the guy.
  6. I totally agree. Webb could surprise a lot of peeps at FS. I think he's got good hands, size, and is arguably our second best tackler in the secondary. I also hope Jimmy comes back closer to 100% and keep it that way. I for one believe that changing the turf to natural grass will do wonders for our injury crisis. Unfortunately, your also right about w.hill, he probably prices himself out by the time his contract ends. One thing I'd like to see this year is the development of Brooks as I think hes got all the physical tools to be a great safety. It's just a matter of when.
  7. That's fair but I sure as hell hope your wrong.
  8. maybe your exaggerating a bit with the 20 players 2 mil a piece because we bith know at least 10 of those are gonna be rookies from this year and next with like 600k salaries. I totally feel ya when you say it's not too wise to look into next year's cap coz that's what got us here in the first place lol But it's KO. He's a stud! And it's Tucker my fav kicker of all time. I think they are worth it. flacco won't count as 31 mil against the cap next year. No way that happens. And if somehow we are only 10 mil under the cap then Ozzie should get fired or someone.
  9. Your absolutely right. Comp picks alone won't move a team from late second to the first round but could move a team like 10 or 15 picks to ensure getting the player they want. but this year we are drafting at 36 and it's not that hard to move to let's say 30. Moving up 6 picks is not that big a deal but that 5th year team option is priceless to me. According to the value chart. It would take an early 4th to move from our 36th pick to 28 or 29. We're probably gonna get 2 comp picks in the 4th that are not tradeable but we also have 2 tradeable picks in the 4th. I for one wouldn't mind giving up a 4th or 2 to insure we get a starter. We still have 2 comps in that round. First a top 15 talent has to fall to 25 then we are in business. It's actually not too much of a pipe dream. Especially if Ozzie moves down with the 6th overall and gathers more assets.
  10. No no no. You went out on a limb and assumed that I'm calling for a superstar. I'm not expecting fireworks. I'm hoping for a few 3 mil per year guys that get overlooked for one reason or another and Ozzie sniffs them out. cap wise, we are scheduled to have about 30 mil in cap space next year and if let's say D.smith, Pitta, Lewis, and arrington are let go. That number becomes closer to 45mil. And frees up 6 mil to spend this year. Plus, we can move on from guys like webb or monroe if they underperform freeing up more cap because it actually makes sense next year not this year. If Ozzie and harbs really like someone, we can always offer a nice signing bonus so the cap hit could be like 2 mil this year and then escalate next year. Worrilow ILB is someone that comes to mind. its a bit too early to get a grasp of where the Ravens are heading because the big clouds over our heads are Flaccos contract, KO, and Tucker. I wish we could keep both Tucker and KO by giving them long term deals with nice signing bonuses so that the cap hit wouldn't really kick in until next year when we have more room to maneuver. when it comes to FA, I hope Ozzie finds a CB as this class is really nice. Claiborne is someone that comes to mind. He's Unrestricted if I'm not mistaken but would count against the comp pick formula of we want him. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I for one am not expecting any valuable comp picks next year because we are not gonna lose the likes of T.Smith, McPhee, and the guys we usually lose. Heck I'm hoping we keep KO and get no comp picks.
  11. I'm with you on this one. i don't think we are going to see fireworks in FA because that's not how Ozzie works but I wouldn't be surprised if we make a move or 2 in RFA because of that exact reason. If we can somehow strike an extension with Flacco and keep KO then we really don't have anything to lose in terms of comp picks. cap space remains the only question mark but there are ways around it
  12. Great post! Agree agree and agree. I for one felt the loss of Ngata even though Jernigan and Williams did great. We still need one more monster to emerge on that line. D.Smith has been priceless to this team. I hate to say this but he has lost a step and maybe it's time we go young. I say this with a lot of shame because we certainly got our money's worth and some from Daryl. I just wished A.Brown would be starting calibar by now but unfortunately we gotta find a real ILB that can produce. This draft, man we can't go wrong. I'm so used to watching film on guys projected later in the first round and finding wholes in their game and comparing them etc.... This year I'm looking at highlights and damn it feels like we can't go wrong. These guys that will be avaliable when we pick are really talented. All the guys you mentioned are so easy to fall in love with if they put the purple on. Plus we have a Perriman that's just a bonus. did you say get ready to ball so hard? Bro you are drinking the kool aid with me you just don't wanna admit it lol
  13. Call me mr purple cool aid but here's my 3 cents.Doom is a pro bowler, has 70 sacks in his previous 5 seasons, and is a year younger than Ware. Suggs is still one of the best defenders in the NFL look at his PFF numbers and stats. He still demands a double team all game every game or hell just wreck a game. I admit we have no Von Miller, but heck 31 other teams don't. Webb and Hill are better on paper than the Broncos safeties. I'd certainly give the Broncos the edge at CB Talib and Harris are both better than anyone we have. But J.Smith was not to far off for 2 years before he got hurt and I'm banking on him coming back. We need another solid corner across from him. dline and MLB are two positions that we are actually deep and talented. Jernigan is a first round talent that's developing beautifully. B.williams is a pro bowler in my book. Mosley is a pro bowler and D.smith is not too shabby himself. elam, Lewis, arrington, Brooks, z.smith, C.Davis are backups. And as a matter of fact they are really good backups but we can't have 21 players on IR again Pees has 8 or 9 guys that could make it to a pro bowl or have already made it. This D on paper is not too far off being great. It just needs a few pieces and to click. Very often, your D is as good as your weakest link. That's the problem. A lot of times especially early last season, our D looked like 3 units on the field instead of one. It has to click
  14. Beats me, I often wonder where some people get these ideas but at the same time I remember that we had an article last week in the lines of "what would it take for Von Miller to end up a Raven". Really? A miracle is what it would take lol another article sounded like "lets get Desean Jackson" and a few weeks before that we had an article named "ravens looking to add 1 or 2 wide recievers to the mix". Thats all in our back yard so just imagine all the stuff out there in the internet that just doesn't make sense. If I had to guess, that's where these ideas come from I know where you stand on a kick returner and I respect that your standing by your guns even though I still disagree. I still see value in a solid kickoff and punt returner if and only if he can also contribute as a WR just in case Perriman goes down. Financially, I do concur that it may not make financial sense to the Ravens this year but we never know how its gonna look like with Flacco's contract and KO staying or not. There is enough cap space to be freed but the real question is "is it worth it"
  15. I was anticipating the annual "I'm going to Disney" but I certainly did not see that coming lol peyton just pocketed a mil or two for casually throwing in a brand instead of saying "I'm gonna lay back and have a few beers" along with his 2 mil he made for wining the SB and the 2 mil for getting there. life must be good for a manning when you add a ring to your collection and make an extra 6 mil in 3 weeks
  16. Thats what I said. Allen wright and Austin are probably staying put. Benjamin is probably resigning but if he's desrispected I'd gladly take him as insurance if perriman gets hurt again. If he gets overpaid the. So be it. Who said anything about upgrading significantly? All I need is someone that can stretch the field and star as a returner. A 2-3 mil per year guy with a friendly cap hit year 1
  17. I really don't see Forsett walking. At least not this year. I also don't see monroe walking this year because it just doesn't make any financial sense. Arrington pitta and canty are probably gone. You emphasized on Keep KO. I agree but not necessarily at LT because having a probowl Guard that can slide outside if needed is s luxury. I personally think K.Aiken has already proved that he's a crisp rout runner with above average hands. Hes also prity fast (4.45) I think he's a lock to start and do well catching passes from Joe. SSS played at a pro bowl level for 2 seasons in a row. Even 80 percent of him would start on most NFL teams so I'm not worried about him come playoffs. Perriman is a baller everyone! Just wait Tho keenan Allen, Kendall wright, Benjamin, and Austin are more likely staying with their teams than leaving. I feel ya when you say all we need is a #3 guy just in case Perriman doesn't pan out or Aiken gets hurt. Benjamin had 950 yards on a bad team. If he's disrespected by NFL GMs that they only offer him #3 WR money il gladly take him. Or anyone that can stretch the field like that and be our returner.
  18. Arrington, webb, Forsett, monroe, you are dead on! 2 mil in cap space right there. canty and d smith would free up about 4.5-5 mil. and around 7.5 (2017). I still think we can get some value for them rather than just cutting them. I caution tho, Orr and Brown wont cut it as starters. K Lewis, meh I don't want to see him on this squad simply because I'd rather give those limited snaps to Elam or Brooks to see what they got. pitta should free a lot of cap both this year and next. The real question here is.... How much cap space will Flacco clear up?
  19. Daryl and Canty would free up around 4.5 mil in cap. Add pitta and that's 5 mil in savings for 2016 and around 13mil in 2017. Its a really good proposition but I fear the loss of D.Smith more than anything.
  20. Was trying to imply that Wagner benefited from Gilmore being virtually a sixth lineman his rookie year. He played a lot actually but usually just blocked. I know that's a tough injury to come back from. Thus I'm not calling him a bust but calling him average and needs to step up in his contract year. If we draft the best OLB in this draft he probably won't start unless doom or suggs go down. If we draft the best LT in this class he starts day one as a LG or LT. What's a bigger need? SSS and K.Aiken are both projected 1000 yard receivers and perriman is a first rounder. So if we draft WR there's a good possibility he doesn't even start till 2017. Thats why I think CB is the most pressing need, more than WR and OLB. Oline depends on KO staying or not but that becomes a priority as well if he leaves.
  21. Huge proud Raven smile on my face :)
  22. Just my humble opinion, 1- Wagner worked for one year with a lot of help from C.Gilmore standing next to him most of the time. This previous season, Wagner looked like an average RT at best. 2- Unlike you, I have a lot of confidence in Urschel and Jensen developing into NFL starters one day. But I'm also a realist and understand that day is not today. They are not going to offset the loss of KO who in my books played at a probowl level but was never voted in because its a popularity contest these days. 3- Absolutely agree. This team in general needs a few playmakers not depth. 4- I say O-Line is more pressing need because at the moment, we have 2 guaranteed starters (Zuttah, Yanda) 2 average guys that need to step up or step away. (Wagner, Monroe) and 2 good developing backups (Jensen, Urschel). notice i left Hurst out because i don't see him on this team much longer. If we bring an above average lineman then he automatically starts in this rotation. At WR its a different scenario. SSS and K.Aiken are #1 and 2 with perriman stretching the field and a few good young guns fighing for playing time. If we bring in an above average wr then he has to earn playing time and is not even guaranteed starting minutes. Same thing can be said about OLB. Yes we need someone to eventually carry the batton after Suggs and Doom. But if we bring in an above average OLB then he wont even get playing time behind those guys. Pass rusher is a need but not necessarily for 2016. CB is probably the only position that is a more urgent need than Oline because Webb has now converted to FS leaving us extremely thin at CB. If we bring in 2 above average CB's they most likely would start at #2 and nickle by the end of training camp.
  23. Very intriguing prospect. Most mocks out there have him going in the 4th round. One even had him as high as 64th overall. I would not be surprised at all if a team takes a chance with their second round. Extreemly fluid hips and just seems to glide in the secondary. Wr hands. Not the fastest guy but fast enough. Plays much bigger than his size. On the other hand, He's only been a CB for a season and a few games. Domestic violence charge dropped but may drop his value to many teams.
  24. I get where your coming from. We may not have one of the best recieving crew but certainly not one of the worst. Perriman didnt play a down and should be back next year along with SSS who was on pace for a 1600 yard season and Aiken who got more than 900 yards and outplayed the likes of Crabtree. Add our 3 developing TE's and Waller and Camp. We have a pretty descent crew. Assuming that KO leaves, we need a few linemen not just one. Jensen and Urchel are developing beautifully but Jensen is still not ready to start in the NFL and Urchel is almost there but not quite. Lets say it this way. Urchel is one of the best backups in the league but probably needs one more year of seasoning. Hurst, I gave up on him. Keep in mind, Wagner and Jensen are in contract years so we really need a few linemen for the future. Also, If we draft a Tackle with our first or second, he can always slide to the interior until hes NFL ready outside
  25. I noticed that as well. Seems like it is easier to figure out my taxes then to make and follow a comment on this forum..... hope they figure out the glitchy stuff Thumbs up!
