Maybe find a stud LG in the draft, and move Lewis to RT...
That's an option. But going into the season with Lewis as our only "RT" could be extremely dangerous
i want what your smoking
I 100% agree with the guy. You are not getting a 3rd from Jernigan. He has struggled staying consistent and chances are you are looking at a 4th rounder at best and that would be in 2019. Also the move up from where we did is valued higher than a 4th round pick. I think it was a perfect move by the front office.
agreed
Right on. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Mat Burk retired. What are Ravens still looking for? Linebacker, Safety, and a Center.5 years later. Has everyone forgot about the nightmare when Matt Burk retired in 2013?
Well we do have CJ Mosley, who's pretty good. If you fools still think we're going to find the next Ray Lewis or Ed Reed before you even die, you're just fooling yourself. There's 31 other teams teams in the league, and they've spent decades looking for players of that caliber. We haven't had them for all of about 5 years. O the humanity!
Yes, everybody forgot Birk. He wasn't here that long, was pretty average at the end, and the Ravens were pretty good in 2014 without him.
Again, its been a whopping like 3-4 years, and you guys act like its been an eternity.
A little perspective goes a long way folks.
Starting to get back to the way it was a few months ago, when it was quite obvious that a lot of you fans actually DESERVE a losing team.
"quite obvious that a lot of you fans actually DESERVE a losing team"
LOL you continue to amaze. Who do you think you are? lol you must be a fun person away from the computer as well.....
Ideal draft:
1. WR Corey Davis
2. OLB Carl Lawson
3. CB Teez Tabor
3. RT Roderick Johnson
4. C Tyler Orlosky
5. RB D'Onte Foreman
6. QB Brady Gustafson
Those top 3 would be amazing. Tabor has to go in the 2nd though. He's a first round CB all day. Top 20 player as well. He was hurt at the combine and pro day, plus it's a classic example of people overeacting about times. His tape is all I care about. Depending on how the draft goes, I ideally would like to go Wr and OLB with our first 2 picks in either order. But taking Tabor with our second pick would be very tempting. Before people were losing their minds with combine numbers, some had him going 5th to the Titans. he is that good.
I think Foreman goes in the second for sure. People won't be able to get over his weight+the 40 time he put up at his pro day.
Corey Davis would be awesome but I think he'll be gone. I actually might prefer Ju Ju over Williams, and he's gonna go about a round later for some reason.
Davis then Lawson would be an awesome start, but something similar that I'm digging a little more would be
Barnett then Ju Ju
Williams looks good, but Frankly I might rather have Ju Ju. Not to mention Ju Ju is going about a full round later for some reason.
Going Barnett then Ju Ju still looks ideal to me
One thing it allows us to do is bump TJ inside to a LB spot on passing downs, so Mosely is the only true LB on the field, if that.
The Three year part is a little weird to me. I want to see the contract details. But like a lot of people on here, I think it's a good signing.
A lot of people on here think he can play cb outside and the slot.....I'm not so sure about either of those. I think his traditional cb play has been slipping for years.
But I do think he can still play FS, and cb when we play zone with more dbs on the field.
I also think he can field punts. He might not be Hester or Jacoby in their prime, but I think he can do a serviceable job. Especially fair catches inside the 20. A mix of Webb, Camp, and a draft pick returning kicks sounds great to me. I'm curious what Moore has to offer as well.
But having Webb's sure hands to return punts sounds terrific. I feel like I've been biting my lip and cringing on every punt return since our 2nd SB year. Especially Jacoby the year after. It's such an important an underrated part of the game. It'd be nice to have stability back there.
I haven't watched any of Adoree Jackson's CB tape, not return tape. I know he's electric in the return game, but I would want to think he can become a very good cb if I was going to spend a 2nd rounder on him. People falling in love with the return ability reminds me of Justin Gilbert.
I would imagine just about everyone would say that Adoree is a better prospect than Gilbert was coming out. I think Gilbert went 8th overall, and almost everyone has Jackson going in the 2nd round this year. That speaks volumes and is an awesome example of how absurd this draft is.
If Takk, Barnett, Davis, Ross, and Williams are all gone at 16, which is possible, I think we should definitely trade back a nice 7-10 spots. It would most likely mean getting the same quality of player, while getting an extra pick to grab somebody like Sidney Jones! Gotta do it.
I have a feeling Ozzie will seriously be looking at Foster and Cam if they're there at 16 as well.
This draft is going to make and/or kickstart multiple franchises
There's 5 players ( Pierce, Urban, Davis, Henry, & Kaufusi) with 2 spots available , so whoever earns the starting jobs will deserve them.
To me the early favorites are Urban and Pierce I hope these guys all push each other to be great.
In the past I've read similar things about D.Tyson, KLM and even C.Davis his rookie year, so I'm just hoping potential and expectations can meet and turn into production and consistency.
So we all know BWill is going to anchor the middle. Between the other 4, I really could see them all splitting time pretty evenly on the field and I think that would be great. Though if Pierce improves his stamina, I want to see him on the field as much as possible. I'm really excited about Henry. I think he can be a better version of Timmy. I was always a big fan of Carl Davis, and it sounds like he might finally be ready. I remember draft analyst saying how the Lions might take him in round 1 to replace Suh. Then Kufasi has serious potential, but we've all heard that word before. I think he'll be a 3rd down pass rush specialist this year, and we'll get a glance if he can turn into anything more in the process. Urban is really solid and brings a different dimension. I kind of see him as taking Guy's role as a very good run defender. But he also provides height and length at the line to knock down passes. We've all seen him do some damage on field goal blocks too. Hopefully Carl steps up so we can stack him and Urban when we want height out there.
The best part about all of this, and trading Timmy, is that all of these guys are going to get a chance to strut their stuff. And I truly think all of them can be at least very good players for us. I think Timmy was overrated as well, and moving up 25 spots in this draft, especially where we did is Massive! I'm thrilled about the trade and didn't think it would actually go down. Luckily everyone is operating as if they're on the hot seat.
I sincerely think we're going to add an OLB with one of our first 2 picks. I think we're looking at Takk and Barnett. And we always add at least 1 big man in the draft, or right after.
Depending on how this draft goes, and the rest of FA, I think the FO is building the # 1 Defense for next year. And frankly, even if our offense looks similar to last year, I won't care, if our defense takes another large step forward. Not only will we have awesome talent at every position, but we'll also have depth. If we add Takk or Barnett, I think we'll be 1 vs the run, and have a top 3 secondary.
DT: Pierce/ Henry
NT: BWill/ Carl Davis
DE: Urban/ Kufasi
OLB: Sizzle/ Z
OLB: Takk/ Judon
ILB: Mosely/ KC
ILB: P.O./ draft pick
CB1: Jimmy/ Tavon/ Canady
CB2: Carr/ Tavon/ draft pick
CB3 (slot): Tavon/ draft pick/ Webb?
SS: Jefferson/ P.O./ draft pick
FS: Weddle/ Webb?/ draft pick
That looks like a number defense to me. Nobody should be able to run on that at all. Essentially replacing Webb with Tony is going to make the biggest difference with our run defense. Not to mention it's kicking Weddle back to FS most of the time, and even though Eric is a sure and good tackler, Tony is better, and a better blitzer.
And Suggs got hurt last year. If we combine a healthy Suggs ( probably a very motivated year for him, considering it's likely his last) with Takk or Barnett, our pass rush will be miles ahead of where it was last year. Z and Judon are awesome back ups. And we'll see if Kufasi can play the McPhee role on third downs. I don't think there will be a drop of at all losing Timmy. Not to mention we have a much better pick because of it, in the best draft I've ever seen. And I think it's clear we'll draft a pass rusher early.
In which case the open ILB spot is the only question mark. And as weird as it sounds, I think that's just about the easiest spot to fill on the defense, without spending a lot, or a high pick on it.(example-Orr) Especially, considering they'll be playing next to Mosely, and right in the middle of a bunch of ridiculously awesome players. I feel confident with P.O., K.C., or a draft pick from the 3rd round on taking that spot. Not to mention I have a feeling Ozzie is eyeing Foster. If we went Foster, and then Carl Lawson, our Defense would not only be back to the best, but it would be back to being completely feared. And for good reason. I can't wait for this draft, and I can't wait to watch our defense.
I really love the Webb resigning. He is a Raven and knows Pees' defense inside and out. In a pinch can be a very effective safety or nickel without much drop off, especially if he's fresh! I really think it's a win win and Webb can now retire a Raven and claim his 21 ASAP!
He's not signed yet.......I don't think....
If Williams, Ross, or Davis are there at 16, it'll be crazy tough, and maybe crazy stupid to pass on them. Barnett would be a decent excuse. Going Barnett or Takk, then Ju Ju in the 2nd is the only way I could justify passing on one of those 3.
Let's see how good Davis and Henry look this year after a year of the Ravens training program. I'm sure they're stronger, quicker than they were before. So it should all be good. Between Williams, Davis, Henry, Pierce, Kaufusi and Urban I think we have a good and versatile D-line!
I think the line will be better than good. I think it will be elite at stopping the run no doubt. Maybe the best front against the run in the league, depending on how Sizzle's bookend sets the edge and plays the run. I know the front 3 aren't usually depended on to get sacks, but it would sure be nice. I think Pierce and Williams should be able to get 5 sacks together and push the pocket. But the wild card is that extra starting spot. I like Carl Davis, but I don't know how much pass rush he'll offer, we'll see. But I think Henry can be a better version of Timmy. He's the wild card. Urban is solid. I don't see Kufasi earning much playing time besides some 3rd down pass rushing, but I hope I'm wrong about that. His strength is something I worry about. If we put Barnett opposite of Suggs, IT'S ON! lol I can't wait to watch our defense
considering who weve had at QB since 1996 , its no wonder none of the receivers we draft become elite.
Everyone is picking your comment apart, but your're right. Obviously we haven't drafted or brought in a lot of awesome wrs. But the qb and style of offense obviously plays a large role.
Q would fill a huge need. Even if just for a year
Webb could return punts and be secondary depth
I would love to see us trade for Richardson. We already have a ton of talent on the dline though. I'm looking for PIerce, BWill, and Henry to start. Henry is a BA. Has the same rating on his NFL draft profile as Desean Watson
Sounds like we're expected to release Arrington, I would think Watson too. That would be another 5+ mil in cap space created.
We're going to sign someone, that's pretty clear. The question is who?
Here are some names:
Q
Webb
Doom
Mangold
Dark Horses:
AP
Jamal Charles
Extreme Dark horse trades:
Sheldon Richardson
Richard Sherman
Richardson would be an awesome addition. Most versatile big man in the game imo.
Line Sheldon, Pierce, and BWill up next to eachother......yeah, try and run on that, lol
As messed up as it is, I'm not completely bummed Jones got hurt. He'll recover and still make his career. However, without the injury, there was no way he was slipping to us at 16. He would've gone a few picks before us and it would've been Marcus Peters all over again. Now we can draft him in the second, or get insanely lucky and grab him in the third
Think this is a smokescreen. No way the Ravens take Jones at 16 w/ his injury. He needs a full pre-season and the Ravens need immediate help at CB. Who knows? Maybe he falls far enough for Ravens to get him in the 2nd. Doubt it, but you never know. Regardless, if they take him at 16, I will be nervous and disappointed.
0 chance we take him at 16. This draft is too talented and deep for a team to even consider taking him in the first, let alone #16. He'll most likely be taken in the second, but I would be surprised at all if he goes in the third. Despite what he said, I don't think he'll play this year. Regardless of whether he does or not, he shouldn't. If he does, he might jeopardize the rest of his career
pro bowl 3 out of the last 4 years.
Makes us better for a year or two plus Way more flexibility in the draft. And he can teach and play next to Lewis.
WR and Pass Rush and T in any order with our first 3 picks in that case....................as long as we draft Ju Ju
Mangold seems like only real candidate and it would be a sweet signing. I cannot emphasis enough how much versatility it would give us for the draft. I mean, our only imminent remaining needs would be WR and pass rusher.
As for pass rush we actually have some (though largely unproven) youngsters at OLB who could fill in if necessary. So our only true need would be a starter at WR. If only we would have signed one of the vets at the beginning of FA. Then we could really pick best player available for the first time in a really long while.
As for RT I believe plan A is to move Lewis to RT and have Jensen (or Urschel) line up at LG.
Whatever it'll be, I'm really hyped about how our roster is starting to look. Solid depth here and there and for the key players to remain healthy and we should be golden.
I didn't realize he made the pro bowl 3 of the last 4 years!
We need to sign him today. More versatility in the draft is right.
Then we can go WR then pass rush, or vise versa. Not to mention he 3rd round is going be be full of usual 2nd rounders and even some first. Here are a few names I love and really hope we draft at least one of them
Barnett- 3 down player, can play with Sizzle, then replace him
Ju Ju- A mix of Keenan Allen and Q. Can't miss again on wrs again. Killed me when we passed on Keenan, Landry, and Sterling.
Lawson- looks like a Beast
Corey Davis and Williams- they look awesome and we should rush the card up if they slip to 16, unless Barnett is there
Elfein- Mangold would be a great signing. This is the next best thing
Samaje Perine- if he's there for our second 3rd or the 4th I would think about it
Sidney Jones- My favorite corner before going down. Would love to get him in the third
Ross- Electric. Tracks the deep ball so well
Takk- keeps growing on me. Reminds me of Justin Houston
Chidobe Awuzie- tough versatile corner
Teez Tabor- Great corner. Crazy how much his 40 is gonna drop him. He can easily become the 2nd best corner in the draft, and even rival Marshon
AND we don't need him now, and would never trade up for him, but I think Jamal Adams is the best player in the draft and an instant All Pro
IMO it's never been more clear on what the Ravens need and what is available at pick #16. Just the watch replay of Ravens vs Steelers 2016, Ravens vs Patriots 2014, or any game versus the Bengals.
Those games scream the need for CB, S, Pass rusher OLB. In other words skill position in the pass defense. To do anything else is absurd and will not improve their chances of beating the team they need to get to playoffs.
How many times can this defense be exposed or abused late in the game?
How many 10 to 14 point leads gets wiped away cause the CB can't cover and not enough pass rushers.
If they want to compete with Bengals, Steelers, Raiders, Patriots, Chiefs, they better address the pass defense. And Brandon Carr and Weddle are over 30 and not enough especially since it's a coin flipped if Jimmy Smith will be healthy.
Pick the BPA at one of those positions end of story.
They can get WR, OT, RB, C, G in the 2-3 rounds with quality. It's a weak OT class and Ravens, for whatever reason, are never successful at drafting Wr in the first round. In a draft where they can't afford to miss, why go there? Our starting 5 is solidified. End of story. 2 top 10 safeties as well.
We do need pass rush
Weddle is over 30 and not enough? LOL........OK
Defense was gassed at the end of games cuz it was on the field the whole game from our inept offense. Gotta score to win
The only way we're passing on Corey Davis or Williams if they're there is if Barnett or Takk are there too, and we're stoked on one of them. Or if we're dead set on trading back
0% chance we take a Safety in the first. I doubt we draft one til the 4th or later. If Teez is there for our 2nd pick, that would be tough to pass upI wouldn't say zero percent. It really is going to come down to what the teams in front of us do. I would say there is a zero percent chance that we take either a QB or a TE but I wouldn't go that far at Safety. I don't think there is a huge chance of Hooker or Adams making it to us but if they did we would have to consider taking one of them. I don't think they would be tempted to take Peppers though, and he will most likely be on the board when we pick.
No way we take Peppers.
If Hooker or Adams are on the board when we draft, I agree, we might take them. But I think Adams is the best player in the draft. Easy. And Hooker could go as early as number 2.
No chance at all they make it to 16
Takk or Barnett in the first and Ju Ju in the second!
If you want a receiver that can go and get the ball away from a defender, win the toss up throw and such, that is Mike Williams. I think his skill set fits our team as we don't have that guy on it now.,
The only issue I have with Mike Williams is he can either be Kelvin Benjamin or Devin Funchess. One is worth the #16, one is not.
Comparing him to Funchess is ridiculous. Benjamin makes sense, but if Williams has the desire and ability to run routes, he'll be quite a bit better than Benjamin imo. I think Takk or Barnett are the only 2 we would take instead of Williams or Davis if they were both there. I'm guessing we would love to draft Williams, Davis, Takk, or Barnett

Although it's extremely unlikely that either Jamal Adams or Malik Hooker will slip all the way to number #16, the Ravens would not pass up on either of those exceptional talents at that point. Weddle is 32 years old, I'd guess he has 2 really good years left in him then his play will decline.
It would be up to Pees to find a way to use everyone. Heck the Cardinals rolled out Mathieu, Jefferson, Bucannon ( Safety and Linebacker ), Swearinger all at Safety, slot or inside as a "hybrid LB" at one point or another to accommodate the talent.
I've had Hooker and even M.Lattimore fall in mocks on Fanspeak.com it's usually because of QBs being picked early pushing guys down the board.
Similarly I'd image if Reuben Foster falls to #16 the Ravens might take him even though Correa is in place. The question then would be what does the team do with Correa to not waste him on the bench.
I think there is a 0% chance Marshon, Adams, or Hooker make it to 16. They are all top 5 players in the draft in a lot of minds. Garret obviously looks insane, but I didn't get a chance to watch him in college or a lot of his tape. Aside from that, Jamal Adams is easily the best player in the draft imo. If he's drafted into an even halfway decent situation, I think there's a 50/50 chance he's an all pro as a rookie
If Barnett, Williams, or Davis are there, rush the card up.
Consider Takk and Ross.
If all 5 are gone, trade down
Keep this in mind. A Top 10 pick in the 3rd Round + Pick #16 in the 1st Round would move you up into the Top 10 overall in the 1st Round. You want Fournette, you want Foster, you want Barnett, you want Lattimore - you need to be in the Top 10.
Not worth it imo at all. Not in this draft. We will have a chance to draft a pro bowler in the 3rd round in this draft
