  1. For a rookie, you're pretty sharp! Think about it!! How many Super Bowls have there been? How many QBs have been on the winning side? When you answer those two questions and learn what elite means, we can have a discussion. Yes, I think Trent Dilfer was definitely elite in one special season in 2000. Right now, at this time and moment, Joe Flacco is one of the elite eight. In the final analysis, it just depends on one's definition of the word ELITE. Yours and mine are apparently different. That's all! Have a great night, my friend!!! BTW, a non-elite QB who was 8-0 just lost to the 3-5 Houston Texans who are now tied for 1st place in their division (even though they don't have an elite QB either). Go figure!

I appreciate the condescending tone of your post my friend.

There's clearly no point in having this discussion if you truly think Dilferer was elite.

  2. What SSS and Boldin did in their primes is completely pointless to this. Flacco didn't get an SSS in his prime. It really doesn't matter what they've done in the earlier parts of their careers. As much as I may like him, the SSS playing for us right now isn't the receiver he was five or six years ago. And Boldin did slow down by the time he got to the Ravens. Yes, a young Edleman is better than two aging receivers well past their prime, especially when one has a major problem with dropping passes.

So we're comparing Edelman to what SSR and Boldin did as a Raven?

If so, I think you'll be really surprised at how similar the production between SSR and Edelman is.

    SSR - 125 catches, 1,735 yards, 9 td's

    Edelman - 153 catches, 1,664 yards, 11 td's

Even Boldin as a Raven put up very similar numbers to Edelman now (Boldin's 3 years here vs Edelman's past 3 seasons)

    186 catches, 2,645 yards, 14 td's

    258 catches, 2,720 yards, 17 td's

  3. Here's some logic for you. There are only eight active QBs who have won one or more Super Bowls. For you statistical geniuses, that is 25% of the starting QBs in the Not For Long league. Call it luck, serendipity, fate or whatever you want but its an elite group of QBs. It includes in no certain order Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Tom Brady and Ben Rothlisberger. All but the last two elite QBs lost yesterday. Anyone who wants to argue that any of the above listed QBs is not elite is free to do so but the truth is this is the Elite Eight. Ask Dan Marino or Jim Kelly whether they would trade any or all of their single season or career stats for a Super Bowl victory and which defines a career more. Records are made to be broken. Ask Brett Favre or Johnny U if he were alive. Joe Flacco is headed for his first 4,000 yard season. I'll bet it will mean very little to Joe but don't believe me 'cause I'm not logical like you experts. Ask Joe. Like Vince Lombardi said, "Statistics are for losers." He once had an elite QB named Bart Starr who would do whatever it took to win and always put the goals of his team ahead of his own goals. He reminds me a lot of Joe Flacco.

So winning a Super Bowl makes a QB elite? So you thought Trent Dilfer was elite?

  4. Dear lord..

People here actually think Edleman is a better football player than steve smith and boldin..who are in the top 7most productive receivers of the last 16 years.

    lawd have mercy

edleman is not in the same league as a smith or boldin. WAKE UP

if brady had boldin or steve smith and I said hey well flacco has edleman i'd be banned for being asinine rather than being constantly giving warnings for RSF like comments.

    its just passion man.

Yeah it's crazy. It's the typical build someone up so it's make it look like Joe has never had weapons.

Edelman is a product of the system. The guy has had 3 good years. And only cracked 1,000 yards once. He's not even close to being in the same league as SSR, Boldin, and even Mason.

  5. Hopefully he has matured. Immaturity was the knock on him at Towson, and it obviously carried over into the NFL (3 teams in 2 years). He also needs to stay away from his questionable "friends". One of his close friends was killed last year. He was one of the most violent drug offenders in West Baltimore.

It's a low risk high reward move. He has the talent to play in the NFL.

  6. Good:

    - Will Davis made plays all over the field. Really impressed with him.

    - Forsett is back. He looked great

    Bad:

    - Injuries. Campanaro is a lost cause. The guy just doesn't have the body to hold up in the NFL. Hopefully SSR is back next week.

    - Fake FG. You have to take the points on the road. It was a very desperate call that didn't work out.

    Ugly:

    - Flacco. He had a few nice throws, but overall it was an awful game for him. The boneheaded mistakes need to stop.

Overall I still don't feel good about this team. We barely beat a team led by Mike Vick. Scobee and Tomlin basically handed us the game. If Ben was playing we'd be 0-4 right now.

  7. Maybe not, but I once saw him drop three straight balls into a 33 gallon trash can at 40 yards and he was back footing them.

The thread is much adieu about nothing, because he's not our problem.

Elvis Grbac was our problem and a host of other guys of that caliber, both past and current.

Right now we need some of our other WR's to rise up and quick. We have an outside shot to see the playoffs because those losses are early, but its got to change now.

What Joe did in a college football challenge (I'm assuming that's what you're taking about) has nothing to do with deep ball accuracy in an actual NFL game.

Joe isn't the problem, but he's part of the problem. Everyone on this team deserves blame for this awful start. Joe has missed easy throws, just like Jimmy has been burnt, and SSR has dropped passes.

I like your optimism (I honestly do) but we have no shot at the playoffs. 0-3 against AFC teams, and we're in the toughest division in football. I just don't see it.

  8. I can agree with this. His footwork and mechanics just don't look sound right now.

I agree. His mechanics are the worst I've seen during his career. He's constantly throwing off his back foot, and missing easy throws because of it. The 3rd down pass at SSR's feet is a perfect example. That's an easy completion for a 1st down that he has to make.

Now I know people will blame the OL, but outside of the Denver game he hasn't been sacked. In fact the Ravens OL for as bad as they have been at times, have only given up the 2nd fewest sacks, and the 6th fewest QB hits (13).
