How in the world does the man that does the most complaining about the rules, not know this one?
Unreal and unnecessary. nothing to be gained here.
And now Adam Schefter is reporting that the NFL doesn't believe that the Ravens were unaware of the rule.
This isn't just going to go away. We're facing some type of punishment from the NFL. I doubt it's a draft picks, but this all could have been avoided. Harbaugh looks really bad here with all the complaining he has done about rules in the past.
No Raven has worn #19 since 2001. (Scott Mitchell wore it after getting permission from Unitas)
I personally think the Ravens have done more than enough to honor the Baltimore Colts and wouldn't have an issue with a Raven wearing 19 again. But I also understand why the old timers would be upset.
The Ravens broke practice rules in 2010 and lost a full weekend of OTA's. Not a big deal for the veterans, but that's valuable practice time for the rookies.
I refuse to believe that Harbaugh wasn't aware of these rules. Just not a good look on his part, but also not a huge deal.

You do realize my screen name is a joke about Grbac right?

Sounds an awful lot like Joe Flacco.
Harbaugh just put himself on the hot seat by keeping Pees. This team better perform next season or they both could be looking for new jobs in 2017.
again. What did he say wrong? He was asked why Joe sucks against the Bengals, how should Mallett know? He's been here for like two weeks he probably hasn't even met Joe. Plus the questions not even remotely about him. He litterly had no good possible answer.
Yeah it was a loaded question. I don't have any issue with his response. I highly doubt Mallett meant anything by it.
No he didn't. Not even close. Joe had a 92 QB rating, over 300 yds and 2 TDs to 1 INT.
Joe's typical games against the Bengals are not very good.
If we're talking about just this season the Mallett outplayed Joe against the Steelers.
Its not like really left earth with is monsterous 270 yard 1 td game...
Statistically he didn't light it up, but for only being here for 12 days he played very well against Pittsburgh. Today he definitely struggled.
You sound salty. Are you? I just find it funny. I personally didn't like the comment but even said I wouldn't take it as a shot at Joe. Whether you love Joe or not, you must admit it's funny how he said his name wasn't Joe but he looked bad against them regardless.
They're just well coached on defense.
Not salty at all.
I thought it was a dumb question to ask Mallett, but I do agree it is a little funny that he played just like him against Cincy.
I just thought it was funny how some fans got all upset over his comments that's all.
You know what I find really funny? His potential response to the question about having faced a defense that gave Joe problems. He said his name isn't Joe. Well, he played pretty bad.
He played about as well as Joe has against the Bengals.
I can't believe how much fans overreacted to his comment. I guess they thought he was taking a shot at the golden boy.
Easy pump the brakes a little Mallett was good today but have you seen his 7 other starts not so good I am happy to have but let's slow down on he's the best Ravens QB of all time
LOL where has anyone even suggested that he's the best Ravens QB of all time? People are pointing out that Mallett had a good games, that's all. For some reason a certain section of the fanbase is having a hard time with that.
So, he completes a high number of passes and that means he didn't have iffy accuracy?
And trust me when I say 12 days doesn't affect accuracy
That's exactly what that means. Was every throw perfect? Of course not, but they were accurate enough.
Joe has iffy accuracy. I bet you never bring that up though.
Uh oh...you sure about that?
He knows that his NFL career is over if he doesn't.
Stats will never tell the entire story.
And not that one game matters, but he was about as erratic as it gets in this game
If Mallett balls out again next week, you better believe his agent is going to try and get him traded to a team where he can start. Ultimately Mallett wants to be a starter, why would he turn down a trade when he could be a starter?
Mallett wants to be a starter, but he knows that this is the last straw. He's going to do whatever is asked of him.
But Flacco played them early with a new OC still trying to figure out how to use our personnel. Big difference since then.
And Mallett has been here for 12 days.
I wouldn't go nearly as far as to say he played as well as Flacco, but he showed that if the Ravens need to use their backups again, he could win a game
He played better than Joe against the Steelers this season.
Flacco - 20-33, 60.6 completion %, 189 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT 73.9 rating
Mallett - 28-41, 68.3 completion %, 274 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 95.0 rating
He could still be traded.
Why would they trade him? His cap hit next season is $1.5M. That's a steal for a QB.
Yea, we actually did well. I think the point he is making is that we were in all those games, every single one of them. Id much rather watch us lose down at the wire than the type of game that just happened on sunday
I understand his point, but in the end the result is the same. That's all Im saying.
Uh
And I'd say we were a good bit better then. We lost games sure but we actually did well. To recap without Flacco
1 Beat the worst team in the NFL on a miracle play
2 lost to the Dolphins
3 got blown out by Seattle
I'd say we were much better to start the season playing Denver, Oakland, and Cincy all tough. I still don't think we were good but we were easily much better than this.
We lost games, but we actually did well? What is this pee wee football? Are the Ravens getting participation trophies at the end of the season? I don't care how well we did in loses. The fact is they go in the L column like every loss.
We're just going to have to agree to disagree. it's obvious that we're not changing each others mind. Going back and forth is just a waste of our time. Hopefully we can get through the rest of this season with no more major injuries, and retool for next season.
No - in 'Flacco out for season' thread you said "we didn't look much better with Joe in the team either", which implies that Joe-led offense is as bad as the one with Schaub or Clausen.
We lost most of the games due to poor defense while Joe was playing.
No it implies that this TEAM hasn't been good all season.
To even suggest that I'm implying that a Joe-led offense is as bad as the one with Schaub or Clausen is foolish. Even the biggest Flacco basher wouldn't say that.
To illustrate just how stupid the logic of evaluating players based on wins and losses is. Thomas is an elite OT who is more than likely going to the hall of fame. Never been to the playoffs though and the Browns have 3 wins this year.
Agreed, they aren't good enough but if they were able to make plays on the other side, it means they were closer to winning. A team that competes in every game that they lose is better than one that gets blown out. It doesn't matter because the teams have the same record but it is fairly easy to tell that one is better than the other and has a better chance at competing the next year.
Again I never said anything about evaluating players based on wins and loses. I have no idea where you're getting that from. I specifically said i was talking about the team as a whole.
Ok a team that competes in every game is better, but the end result is still a loss. This isn't like kids sports where you get a participation trophy for almost winning.
You didn't but you said a loss is a loss no matter the score. Problem is, those losses were a lot closer when Flacco was in and the fact that those games were closer is saying something. Just going off wins and losses and not taking even the score into account(the most basic stat) is a terrible way to evaluate teams let alone players.
So then why even bring up Joe Thomas?
A closer loss says that the team wasn't good enough to pull out the win. In the end is still goes into the L column regardless of how it happens.
I have no issue with the signing. If Mallet screws up he's gone. He has the physical tools to play at the NFL level. His immaturity is the only thing holding him back.
He's a better QB than Clausen, Renner, and Schaub

I don't see anyone overreacting. We're going to face some sort of punishment. That's 100% fact.
Knowingly breaking a rule (if what Schefter says is true) is not just a coaching staff screw up. It's obviously not on the bounty or deflate gate level, but it is a violation. The Ravens are going to catch heat on this because of how vocal Harbaugh has been about rules.
