  1. I think Apple is a 1st round prospect on a lot of boards. He just adapted very quickly this season. Started bad, then was great. Thats what you want to see your player do. As far as Jackson III I', not sold yet but I havent watched him a lot only highlights. He might be a riser but I don't think he'll go in the top 20 picks unlike Apple. TO be honest, I think I'd prefer to see the Ravens sign a free agent CB before they draft one because the board might not fit for them to draft a CB when they pick
  2. With his combine performance I don't think William Jackson III and Eli Apple are going to slide at all. We might see both of them gone in the first round and sooner than we think. In my last mock I have Apple as soone as 14. He's a fast riser. On the other hand, now that the teams can finally trade compensation pick, I wouldnt move seeing the Ravens try to trade up and get a stud CB late in the 1st after getting the BPA in one of these at 6 (Ramsey/Jack/Tunsil/Bosa/Buckner). So the Ravens only need 1 QB to be drafted in the top 5 to get a shot at a very unique talented player. After those 5 I think the talent isn't as great. Stanley cone drills aren't good... Hargreaves will be a reach at 6. Shaq Lawson I don't see him having double digits sacks. Spence is a big risk at 6.
  3. Interesting tweet .... Steve Palazzolo ‏@PFF_Steve Top pass rush grades vs. power-5 competition: Joey Bosa, Shilique Calhoun, Emmanuel Ogbah Ogbah always should have been in 1st round mix
  4. gotta wonder the way the contracts are handed because of draft situations... some teams would try to wait and see if he falls... great talent but in todays nfl they need their 1st rounders to contribute right away. not a lot of teams are willing to wait 1 year.
  5. he looks very good today to be honest. his tapes arent so good but the kid got the skills
  6. McCaliste could be a great project but he seems so far and very very very raw. To be honest the more I see Okwara today, the more I like him. Very young and his feet follows his legs. Nice agility and football moves. He just doenst have the football experience to use his skills yet. I think he fits as a great UDFA pick up.
  7. Also I forgot 1 IMPORTANT thing : Clock management has been HORRIBLE. Late game or half sometimes he just runs a stupid pass inside so the clock continues. I remember one game it was just brutal I'm pretty sure it was versus the Browns and this looks to be the one thing that John Harbaugh HATES. The camera showed John a few time shouting at Trestman after the horrible clock management
  8. Looks likes his playbook is too simple. Too many checkdowns to Forsett for 1-2 yards. Not enough stretching the field. He doenst have lots of weapons thats for sure. He's a very good Passing Game coordinator but I'd like to see Castillo more involved in the running game schemes. Trestman isnt so great as finding nice running plays. Most of the time he'll just use the same running play 4-5 times and run it different way and no alternative to that play. If you wanna run it 4-5 times maybe you could run a playaction from it. Like we saw vs the Cards... he had lots of runs for negative yardages as the defense knew what was coming. The only games the running game was effective was vs Poor Run defenses. Also too often he uses the Playaction without an efficient running game so other teams DC just blitz Flacco and its an incomplete pass. Happens a lot of first down. ALso looks like his passing plays don't have any HOT Throw. Lots of time he blitz will just break the entire play if the receiver can't get open in time. I don't see any quick slant or hook from the Slot/TE or things like that when other defenses are blitzing. Like lots of y'all said, the FB pass opening drive are brutal. Looks like Trestman doenst have any type of ajustement during half time I don't think I recall the Ravens a great 2nd half first drive for points its mostly 3 and outs. But the big problem I see is : He's too Predictable. 3rd and 1 with Talieferro : inside run. 3rd and 1 with Steve Smith in motion : SS pass in the flat. Opening drive : FB pass After a good first down run : 2nd and 3 will be a run and stuffed pretty easy I also saw vs the 49ers IIRC ... Trestman went in Spread formation and tried to run the ball vs 8 man in the box on 3rd and short. They stuffed it pretty easy 8 vs 5. Flacco has got to audible I don't know what role he has for now. I like his passing schemes and he could be VERY good with some good deep treats but needs to work on every level : short/intermediate/long. If they blitz gotta have a Hand Signal for the Hot Throw. I also liked the few crossing routes last few games. Steve Smith in motion running a drag and Marlon I think ran a Dig. Easy to read vs Man to man. Aiken had some nice gain on crossing patterns behing the LBs in front of the safeties vs cover 2. So to cap it all : Give him 1 more year with more weapons and needs to implement for hot throws to counter the blitz and give the running attack to someone else.
  9. Well its a pretty important NEED at the moment and consideration what the Ravens gave in return I'd say its a pretty good trade so far.
  10. What you can guys tell me about Givens ? Does he have some returning skills ? He looks like a speed WR with questionable hands and route running. Is he playing the slot ? Looks like Trestman wants to stretch the defense we didnt have any speedster in last game so we had to throw deep out and deep crossing routes to Aiken. Marlon had some drops as well... Ravens needed help at skill positions. Why not use the good ol' I-Formation or even unbalanced line with Gilmore and Boyle and run the ball A LOT ?
  11. I agree with you there but when you have unproved players you try to get them in the game with some out of the box playcalling. I really like that WR Sweep by 15 early in the game. I also liked that TE playaction pass to the rookie 82 It opens the box a little. Forset can't break a tackle. So far this season we did good on outside runs (sweeps, pitches).. I don't see a lot except a few streches that ended up -5 yards. Trestman gonna bring something to fire the guys like a flea flicker or pitch pass or screens I don't know.. the play actions won't work if the running game is non existent.
  12. he just doenst use the players to their strengths. Deep pass with Aiken Quick inside routes with 14 and not 15. Forset on 3rd and 1 or will get 34 in the game only for 1 play on 3rd and 1 and the Bengals blitzed from everywhere. On 3rd and 2 he tries a deep pass so the Bengals blitzing and incomplete pass Also very predictable.
  13. Trestman offense is horrible.
  14. I hope the Ravens will run the ball 30-40 times today. Harbaugh doenst seem too fanatic of Trestmans play calls so far this season
  15. Jernigan would be a beast 3 technique imo
  16. oh well I didnt know that thanks. So its IR or nothing ? I don't see that option then. They'll keep Urban for IR return list so.. they might just cut Reid since Jensen can play Tackle too. Just like Osemele and Yanda and Hurst.
  17. The way I see it, they might put Jensen on the PUP because of his concussion and it solves the problem. It 6 weeks, they'll probably have 1 injury somewhere so they can add Jensen and keep Myers as well.
  18. Positions battles : Or vs Brown. Both flashed. Both had bad moments and great moments. Both should make the team. KLM vs Bilikidi Bilikidi played better early on vs better players. KLM is football rusty havent played in a while. He's been pretty good since the first 2 drives. He has more upside but Bilikidi would be a safer pick. I would go with KLM. CBs Vaughn started real good. Some nice STs plays early on an I thought .... this guy will make the team. Since then. played bad so I'm not so sure. Asa has been bad since preseason started. Can't cover anyone. Will make a splash plays here and there but he's not NFL material imo. Pointer was ok. WRs Nice game by Marlon Brown. Butler... won't make the team. He's not consistant enough on ST and slowed down as preseason goes. (While I'm writing he caught a TD pass) Waller is a nice surprise for me. Will get a few RZ looks. RBs Buck Allen has the more talent its pretty easy to see. Great vision and cutback hability but he's hesiting too much right now. This kid has some nice potentiel will need some good coaching. Gotta make his decision earlier. Before this game I was 99% sure Magee would get the final roster spot. Right now after watching the game, I think Fitz might get it. He played solid on STs. You want your 3rd RB to be a good ST player. Pratice squads candidates : 1- Butler 2- Brennen Beyer (worth coaching him some fundamentals and playing vs Pros) 3- Nick Easton 4- Bilikidi or KLM 5- Magee or Fitz 6- Nick Perry 7- Bryn Renner 8- Ryan Jensen 9- Cuts from other teams 10- Cuts from other teams
  19. Last year Jennings was pretty good against the run. I think he was 24 best CB according to PFF. Thats really not bad. Being a zone CB he's not as fast as he was but still very run run support and good vet. If healthy, could help if the price is right. Looks like missed tackles from our CBs has been a huge problems in recent years.
  20. I remember the Texans fans booing the JJ Watt pick. Not flashy enough...
  21. Hmm.. looks like they trying to show him ? Do Scouts have the right to scout others team training camps ? I don,t think so..
  22. Well I wasnt sure about Trestman and I didnt really like the hire yesterday byt todays presser was pretty good. Looks like the Ravens will stay the Ravens thats what I love. sounds good then
  23. 2014 Bears stats : 355 runs 609 pass attemps 37% run / 63% pass 2014 Ravens 448 runs/ 554 passes 48% run / 52% pass 22,2 runs / game... 30 out of 32 teams 1441 rushing yards 27 out of 32 teams avg 4,1/run 16 out of 32 teams so run game was pretty good just wasnt using it because they were trailing and bad playcalling. I've watched a lot of Bears football because I'm from Canada and I saw Trestman during his 3 yeards here.. sure wasnt the same rules but he was a weird playcaller. he had Calvillo which help a lot. His passing games used the larger field a lot. He's soft and Flacco will love that but Steve Smith won't. AFC North is all about smathmouth football so I don't know if Trestman is the right guy. Even if you lose by 10 you HAVE to run the ball. Flacco stats against Dime/quarter defense are horrible. He needs a good running game to help his passing game.
  24. Trestman is soft and doenst run enough thats what I don't like but he's great for Joe. Would need a run game assistant or something maybe thats what Castillo will do. They need to keep the ZB and don't go 8 runs 45 passes
  25. and with a QB that had a very quick decision making skill. Calvillo wasnt a canon arm or that accurate but could progress really fast into his reads. and a CFL field is so large and long... so horrible to watch to be honest but you can find windows pretty easy with a larger and longer field. A lot easier in the red zone. I don't think the quick decision making is one of Flaccos biggest asset to be honest. and Trestman is a strange playcaller and a soft coach. I would recommend him to be a passing game assistant or QB coach anytime but to run an offense or a team.... I don't think he's a good fit for the Ravens in the AFC North.
