We also lose because down the stretch, we either make huge, stupid penalties to stall the drive, or turn the ball over and kill our chances. The team now has a culture of how to lose games, instead of how to win games (all close, mind you) like we used to have. Team needs a major jolt.

I think breaking even at 8-8 would be a major coup at this point. More likely, we will have a losing record. Haven't seen that in a long time. Was Billick's last year, I guess.

It is oh so wearisome to hear week after week, player after player keep saying "we have to play better". We all see it and know it already! Just go out and do it. I wish one of them would step up and just say "Hey, I'm sorry we've sucked so bad so far, but I'll bust my butt to kick some butt this week". ....And then go out and actually do it.

Really torn on this one - I would absolutely love to see Pitta back on the field, but every time he's involved in a play, block, etc., I'd hold my breath for his hip. He'd be playing on eggshells every play. Love to have him back, but please - health and long term value of life would have to come back. If he chooses to come back - more power to him.

Maybe run the no huddle more often, so the players become accustomed to it and know what to do without having to try to think.

So,would we carry 4 TEs, or move Boyle to the PS (where another team might grab him because he has played well). Don't see moving Maxx down, because of his high pick (Boyle either, really).

Has Pitta even been cleared by the doctors yet? He may not even be an option to use yet. Agree we need to use a 2 TE set though, that would help give the offense more options. On defense - who knows, they look a mess all around.

Man, it's getting old pulling up NFL.com every Monday and seeing articles of how this or that quarterback just had a career game torching Baltimore's secondary, and they're up for the FedEx Air Player of the Week! We will probably set franchise records this year yardage given up (per game average and total). Sickening

Agreed - I'm not sure it's just Pees. It seems like a lot of areas on the team could use better coaching. As many have stated, Pittsburgh seems to routinely acquire lesser WRs or DBs, and they turn out to be very good/excellent players. Why can't our staff do that???

Still miss "Q" - we probably wouldn't have gone after SSS if he was still here. Wish we could have both (for their whole careers) - that would have made some noise.

Lucky he didn't roll his ankle more and sprain it. I remember when the Ravens refused to play at Philly's stadium until they fixed the turf (artificial though - had seams all over the place). That's on the grounds crew - no way it should this many attempts to get a decent turf on that field, it's not a dual-purpose stadium like Oakland's.

SSS is probably even more sick seeing Carolina at 5-0 too. I guess we need Pitta to come back on the field wounded too. Shame young guys haven't stepped up to take over - Ross is making a case now though.

At this point, what does the front office have to lose by ditching Pees? We got rid of Caldwell near the end of our SB season and that worked out fine. There needs to be a fundamental change in attitude and approach to our game. Every team we play against looks like they've been practicing with us all season.

If only Guy hadn't shoved McCown at the end of the play, he probably wouldn't have gotten the penalty. If he had tried to make an effort to pull up at the end, the refs may have let him slide, but instead, he finished it off with the shove to the turf. Voila, penalty!

Liked LT initially, seemed to bring some power running to the offense. But then he developed "Pierce Syndrome" - showed some flashes here and there, but never consistent, and now injury prone. Wish him well though (as all of our players on IR/PUP).

1st TD was awesome - he could have crawled into the endzone. The whole defense was fooled.

I find the coaching staff's inability to make in-game adjustments "unfathomable".

New leader on defense? Good to see him step up and admit he messed up. He (and the rest of the defense) still has to go out and PLAY better, not just say they have to play better.

Hey, we could pick up Randy Edsall - he was Jacksonville's DB coach before going to Maryland. Maybe he could help the Ravens DBs - they've looked bad for years now.

He ought to do a book signing at the stadium. Would help fire up the players too.
