Which Jigga tracks did you listen to? Did you give any other rappers a shot?
Just listened to some tracks off Watch the Throne. Really impressed with that stuff.
Any other rappers you'd recommend?
Got off my high horse and decided to give rap a fair shot. I was unfair to Jay Z. Dude is good!
Better than
the newFamily Guy.
Family Guy sucks. Not funny. Not clever. Repetitive. Boring.
Pulp fiction, set for the night
Yes. Perfect movie.
Does anyone have any interest whatsoever in The Lone Ranger? I'm predicting that as the summer's first major flop.
I'm interested. I'm a huge Depp fan, and I love Helena Bonham Carter too.
I may be alone in this but I hated wedding crashers...
I don't hate it, but it's way overrated. Not a memorable movie for me.
I might have made it three. People keep telling me to watch it, apparently it gets better when they get to David Tennant as the Doctor, but I couldn't get into it. I have to watch things chronologically or it bothers me.
Yeah, I heard the same thing about Tenant. Apparently, Matt Smith as the Doctor (after Tennant) is pretty great as well.
Might have to give it another shot soon. I hear too many good things about the series not to try again.
It's more like a mini-series, so I would agree. British TV is still weird. They order 3 episodes here, 6 episodes there, and I think they call a full series 10 episodes. A full season in the US is around 22, give or take depending on what the network want it. I just find it frustrating because some British TV shows leave me wanting more. I think it's tragic that we have so few episodes of shows like Sherlock and The Inbetweeners because their quality is above the majority of television.
My next ( profanity deleted) show is going to be Luther. I'm going to try to squeeze that and get caught up on Continuum before continuing with The X-Files. But I still need to watch season 3 of the original Star Trek too.
Have you tried the reboot of Doctor Who? Many of my friends have told me to watch it but I couldn't get through the first two episodes. I'm not one for sci fi.
I finally watched the first season of Sherlock and it is a truly incredible show. I loved it, it was far better than the Sherlock Holmes movies. And I really like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law's versions of the characters.
Second season is pretty great too. I think Sherlock is actually not the norm for British TV shows. Most do have regular seasons. I'm pretty sure Doctor Who runs normally. Their version of The Office (also featuring Martin Freeman) runs just like the U.S. version.
I think the 88 minute episodes are a necessity for Sherlock to allow more complicated plots and character development.
Old Yeller?
I watched a mermaid documentary late last night (that explains why I watched it in the first place) on Animal Planet. It was interesting, I had a gripe and reasonable skepticism for just about every amount of evidence they used, though. And it doesn't help that I found most of the recordings look faked. But that being said there was ver compelling logic behind some of the theories and evidence that they explain in the documentary. If you are interested in that kind of mythical stuff, I'd recommend it.
There was on video in particular they talked about after the documentary aired that had my attention. I cant find the video anywhere, but it happened on March 6 of this year. 3 Danish guys were in a submarine doing sonar tests 3,000 feet under water when they heard something they didnt recognize, so they did some research and watched the aforementioned documentary and realized what they had heard was mentioned in the documentary and called a "bloop". So they went back down north of were they heard the noise. They brought 2 video cameras and went down there frequently for 7 months; they finally cought something on extremely frightening. After they played the "bloop" recording, a webbed hand made a thump on the submarine and after a few seconds pushed off and darted away. Its supposed to be the most prolific amount of evidence of mermaids yet. Idunno, I like this kind of stuff haha.
sounds pretty interesting. I like stuff like that with bigfoot and other folk tales
Think we used to have a paranormal thread around here. I'll see if I can find it.
Anchormans my favorite Will Ferrell movie.
Old school & the other guys are up there. I've never seen Elf though, is it any good?
Elf is great. One of my favorite Christmas movies by far.
You may be right, but I have any friends who have bought used games either. Perhaps you are mistaken.
Yeah, I've never bought a used game either, and neither have many of my friends.
This is a mistake on Microsoft's part. Hopefully my 360 stays healthy for a few more years.
Missing the finale while on vacation..
Gonna have a late watch party with a few friends next week and try hard not to shed a tear ha
This is a perfect finale. You might shed more than one tear. Hah.
Watching The Office's finale now. I'm definitely gonna miss this show.
That does have some truth in it, particularly with "hipster" rap and hip-hop influenced pop singers.
Finally, you understand.
Lets get back on topic..
Thoughts on IronMan 3? I thought it was very watchable but still a mess.
Yeah, agreed.
I thoroughly enjoyed Iron Man 3. There were a lot of aspects that made it a mess though. They tried to outsmart themselves in the movie.
Not trying to be "condescending" I would just like to point out the fundamental differences between the two genres. Rap is by its nature dark and against conventions. Pop, by its very name, is conformist and optimistic. One could make a similar comparison between, say, polka and death metal.
However, they are quite similar in rhythm, temp, melody, and in the actual composition of the song.
I'm not being condescending, I'm just trying to illuminate you on diverse styles of music, since you fancy yourself a music expert.
I'm still looking for the post where I claimed to be a music expert... Can you point it out for me?
All I said was much of pop sounds similar to rap. Sorry for causing such a disturbance, your highness.
She tends to over think pretty much everything.
Yep! You're darn right!
OK, listen to Miley Cyrus and then some Kendrick Lamar, then get back to us.
Try actually reading what I wrote for once, and then come back to me in a less condescending fashion. Thanks!
That's ridiculous. Carly Rae Jepsen and Rick Ross are polar opposites. If he can't differentiate between the two, then he shouldn't try to be a music critic.
Obviously, I can differentiate between those two.
I see you missed where I said, "much of pop" sounds like rap music.
He did. He said they sound the same.
He just doesn't get it. Is it a hard thing to understand or something?
It doesn't matter if you like, if you want to be a music critic, you have be able to objectively analyze diverse musical sounds.
Actually, being a music critic (or a critic of anything) would be subjective writing and not objective, as it heavily involves opinion.
Anyways, it sounds similar to me. Excuse me for thinking it sounds so similar.

Idk. I like Eminem, Run DMC, and Jay Z. That's about as far as my rap experience goes.
