  1. You're talking about the staff that kept Cam Cameron for 5 years.

Cam Cameron was actually a pretty great coordinator for 3 and a half of those seasons.

I'm getting a bad feeling that Hostler is gonna get the job. Apparently he gets along with Joe really well.

    Absolutely not my choice though

    What is your source?

  2. Just saying, Derrick Mason gave his endorsement of Hostler today on WNST, for what that's worth. Mason endorsed him and it's well known that he's well-liked by the players, especially Torrey. Who knows? It might be good to have a player friendly coach after control freak Cam and the not-fiery Caldwell.

  3. I think it's difficult to determine Hostler's ability as a coach. Our OC's (Caldwell and Cameron) rarely used Doss, Reed, etc and instead relied on veterans like Boldin, Mason, and recently, Jacoby.

Brown developed a lot, Doss showed promise, and Torrey is a much improved WR. Torrey has also said how much Hostler has helped him in his development.  I'm not saying Hostler's good, but I don't think there's enough evidence either way.

  4. Well the reports indicate that the players hate Castillo. But I don't understand people pushing for Munchak either. He's a good ol coach and that's all he'll ever be.

Mike Preston quotes Bisciotti as saying, "At the end the players were a lot more pleased with him than in the first four weeks," Bisciotti said of Castillo. "I don't think that relationship is deteriorating. I actually think Juan came in under a lot of pressure, working for a guy he used to work side-by-side with in John.

So, it seems the players don't hate Castillo.

  5. After thinking about it some more, I'm still okay with Kyle Shanahan, but I'd much rather have Kubiak. Someone posted an article written by Jason la Canfora earlier on this page and it suggested that he's not well liked by players. I don't want any more coordinators or coaches that are disliked by players. Not sure if, based on the article, that he's Raven material. He could lose control of the offense. I think Kubiak would have more control of the offense.

  6. Nobody knows, the Ravens keep these things so close to the vest. I find it hard to believe that he's a candidate(potentially) in town and we just let him leave without having some type of talks with him. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been to the Castle, had some unofficial talks with John.

The Shanahan news broke pretty fast, so I was expecting to hear something about Kubiak, but you're right. We don't let much get out.

  7. Bingo. Much like the Orioles the problem with the Redskins starts at the top. RG3 runs that franchise now.

As for Kyle I think it'd be a really good choice. He is very creative as a play caller, known for getting too cute at times but very creative. He can sometimes get a little pass happy but overall has a nice balance to his play calls. I like him because his players say he has an answer to every defensive look so they aree never suck in a bad play, they just change out of that play at the LOS. If that sounds unfamilar yet exciting it's been us Ravens fans don't know what that's like lol.

I've spent the last couple days praising Kubiak for the job he's done with the Texans and mainly Schaub, but a closer look would suggest that Kyle had a lot to do with it. He was QB coach in 07 and OC from 08-09, in those 3 seasons Schuab never passed for less then 66% of his passes and had a career season with 4,700yds 29TDs, 8.4yds per attempt and 67% completion. This on top of the success he's had in Washington with above average talent imo, I think he'd be a strong OC for us.

He fits the ZBS as that helps, you'd have to change the Croyell system which I would love to do and you actually put Joe back in a system that allows him to truly do what he does best. Oh also guys like Doss, Thompson and Mellette would be used much more to their strenghts in his system instead of being asked to be sharp route runners. His system gets WRs open.

I would really like this move and get excited about it. There are also some NFC defensive coach who say he is very tough to gameplan against. He's player friendly(except RG3) so the players should really take to him and I hear he is detail oriented as a coach, sso our game plans should never seem like we don't know what we're doing.

I don't like hearing that he likes to get cute or pass happy, but otherwise I'm in love with him as an OC.

  8. I like him because of proven adaptability.  We ultimately won't know who was in charge in Houston or Washington, but he was a factor in very successful offenses in both passing and rushing.  I think this shows he can adapt to the personnel and play to our strengths.  But the adaptability is best demonstrated by the complete tailoring of the offensive system to RGINT last year.  He's young and he wants to distance himself from his father's name, which should mean he's hungry.  I think he has the most upside of our potential options.

The major con most people associate with him is he's related to Mike, but I think that's overblown.  Mike is unfairly demonized, he's not a bad coach.

That's pretty much what I figured. I love his adaptability. I like the sound of him so far.

  9. If Shanahan comes here, expect RG3 as our backup

    Rex Grossman III, that is

They have some kind of blood bond

Tell ya what, as a back up, I think that'd be aight.

What exactly are the pros and cons of Kyle? I understand he runs a west coast passing game and he runs the ball well. What are his weaknesses?

  10. I'm crossing my fingers for Norv.

Please god, I hope we aren't promoting someone from the inside or are getting Kubes.

Norv Turner is overrated if you ask me. The only success he had as an OC were with Dallas in the 90s when he had three of the best skill position players of all time in Aikmen, Irvin, and Smith. Not to mention the fortress of a line. Since then, he hasn't had success. That may have to do with personnel but who can tell?

Why don't you want Kubiak? He made Schaub look like a top five passer at times.

  11. Not the most balanced OC is he. Then again, at least those numbers are "skewed because one's in the top 5 and the other's only the top half" and not "serviceable passing game because there's no running game to speak of" like a certain other team.

Nah, he looks pretty balanced to me. He's balanced almost to a fault.

  12. how come it didn't work in houston with a loaded roster?

    It didn't work in Houston?

Top ten offense in 2012, 11th passing, 8th rushing, 8th scoring

    13th offense in 2011, 18th passing, 2nd rushing, 10th scoring

    3rd offense in 2010, 4th passing, 7th rushing, 9th scoring

    4th offense in 2009, 1st passing, 30th rushing, 10th scoring

    3rd offense in 2008, 4th passing, 13th rushing, 17th scoring

    Yep, clearly didn't work.

By the way, those passing numbers were with Schaub.

Should probably do your homework before you make inaccurate statements.
