  1. I feel like that Pitta deal is good. I think we can negotiate the deal to keep his cost down, but give him more guaranteed money. Giving Monroe what Long got is fair, but less would be good. We definitely have to hit on these next few drafts. It's a must.
  2. Yeah, I don't like saying it because he's a stand-up guy but Torrey is borderline useless on 3rd down and in the red zone. Disappears against press and he doesn't work very well across the middle
  3. The problem with letting Pitta go is that, while he isn't one of the league's best tight ends, he is our most reliable receiving threat who isn't Ray Rice. Who do we have after him? Torrey? That's it really. Pitta is our only real threat on third down and in the red zone.
  4. That's true, I overlooked that aspect.
  5. No, sorry, those picks ARE a waste if we don't re-sign him. Picks are an investment in the future. We traded two potential future contributors for a one year rental in a year we weren't even relevant. If that's not a waste I don't know what is.
  6. I love that all the guaranteed money is in the first two years. That makes it an easy deal to work with later I think. In case we're forced to cut him later or in case he retires before the deal, we won't be in too bad shape. Friendly to both sides. He gets a lot of guaranteed money, but we don't owe him anything guaranteed in the last two years of the deal.
  7. This makes me very happy. As Suggs is one of my all time favorite Ravens, I'm very happy to see him probably retire a Raven. Now just gotta lock up Monroe and Pitta!
  8. Fair enough, and I see your point. I'm just less optimistic about his future performance, mainly due to the Achilles injury. That can take years off a career. I think I'd give him 5 or 6 if it's not all guaranteed.
  9. Definitely. I want him on the team but I'm trying to project what he'll actually be worth when he turns 33, 34, and 35. Is he going to be worth $5M when he's 34? He might not even be worth it at 33 or 32 if the injuries keep going up. I'm a huge Suggs fan but it's tough to say he's going to be worth $5M in a few seasons.
  10. Overall, no, his production didn't drop off, but he might as well have not even played in the last eight games. He didn't contribute much at all down the stretch.
  11. $5M is the absolute most I'd give him, and even then it would be incentive heavy. I'm just very leery of paying over $4M to an aging player who had a significant drop off in production and worsening injury concerns. I don't want his deal to be high on the guaranteed money.
  12. Yeah, I think it could be anywhere in between. If I had to give an exact number, I'd prefer it to be 4 years 14 million. I don't want to pay $6 million a year to a 34 year old OLB/DE, because that's how old he'll be toward the end of this deal.
  13. 3-4 year 12-24 million extension sounds reasonable to me. Somewhere between 3 and 6 million a year
  14. The instances are completely different. I didn't believe Preston then because it was just him stirring the pot as usual, and the facts showed that Harbs was involved. What am I supposed to believe? Unsubstantiated rumors or the fact that Kubiak had dinner at Harbaugh's house? That discussion has run its course though, and I don't know why you felt the need to bring it up. This instance is not controversial and actually believable. I'm not going to get excited until I see Aaron Wilson say it though. If this extension does come, I'll be both shocked and impressed. Great move
  15. If we don't re-sign Monroe I'm going to be very disappointed with this FO and how they operate.
  16. Not to mention we gave up two mid rounders for him. It'd be a waste of picks to not re-sign him.
  17. Zenitz is even more unreliable if you ask me. WNST is pretty bad though. When you read the transcripts of the pressers, they always ask the fewest or stupidest questions. I think the WNST guy that caused this is a newbie, too. Maybe an intern. Like you said, Aaron Wilson is the golden standard. He is the gospel. Vensel isn't bad for a younger guy. And yes, this is fantastic news. Glad to hear we are in contact with him. Maybe we'll get some contract news relatively soon. Monroe is the first player I want to be locked up, followed by Pitta.
  18. I'm not sure how I feel about the third season just yet. Lot of character development and not a lot of plot. I thought it was a lot funnier than previous seasons, but they did well to keep the mood balanced with a lot of dark moments. I also think the second episode was the best of the three. I loved the structure of that episode. I liked the first episode. I like the third episode, but it fell short of my expectations. I kind of like how Sherlock failed, but still came through for John and Mary. I don't know what to make of
  19. Heck yes.
  20. Probably just because it's funny and it's related to the Orioles......... Could be wrong though!
  21. It's a business, and every team in the NFL does it. I actually think that we do it less than average. I mean, what players have we really even restructured? Who have we seriously talked about restructuring? Boldin, Suggs, and Flacco are the only three big names that come to mind when we talk about who has and who will been in restructure negotiations. We're almost definitely restructuring Joe's deal after his third season. It goes up to like 30 million. We're going to honor it to the end because he's a franchise QB, simple as that. How we're going to restructure it, I'm not yet sure.
  22. You give contracts based on what the player is projected to do during the duration of the contract. They're not designed this way. I don't think Ozzie said "Hey, Terrell, we're gonna give you this contract but then you're gonna under perform in 2013 and we'll have to renegotiate." He didn't say "Hey Anquan, we don't think you'll be performing up to your worth in 2013, so we'll just trade you." Contracts are designed for the best case scenario and then re-done to reflect the performance of the player.
  23. This guy is like a sage...
  24. Broncos just did all the little things wrong.
  25. Broncos are pudding!
