  1. Here's hoping Aiken stays at the right price. He showed value and vast improvement last year, just need to continue with consistency. If for some reason Aiken leaves, I fully expect Ozzie to draft a replacement with the #2 pick received in exchange, otherwise for once I will be upset with Ozzie's decision making ability. It really should not have been too difficult to work out a favorable contract with Aiken. He has had some success trending in the right direction, make a contract that rewards him fairly for production and does not hinder the team if there is regression with a way out. 1 yr deal with option to extend for up to 3 yrs. This would also ensure that he remains competitive.
  2. I do not agree. The Ravens have other WR's able to match LaFell's production and TE is solid for depth, heck we may even get a health Pitta back for Flacco.
  3. Quoting a single sentence without any context or factual proof of anything other than an opinion makes for a weak argument. Also made me laugh. IF the Ravens did not offer Osemele an aggressive LT offer, then maybe you could say there is some truth to this bogus statement. This just is not the case. Also I don't take anyone working for a company called "Yahoo!" seriously.
  4. AaAAaaooauouuou! Wolf Pack!
  5. I'm glad they signed Wright, and also think it he will be a solid contributor to help lock down the back. Gonna need at least 1 more solid CB to be prepared for a full season, players get banged up, etc. Hoping J Smith can also bring Wright along and motivate him.
  6. Hard to image Arrington staying since going separate ways with D.Smith and Canty. I do like the youth movement though and it was badly needed after carrying a team with HoF'ers for many years. Everyone keeps talking about K.O. is for sure gone but I don't agree. Yes there are teams that need a G or LT but those teams are going to make sure they are not overpaying either. Just cause you can overpay doesn't mean you should, it will bite you at one point or another. Also there are some good draft prospects available this year as well that are substantially cheaper and can be groomed for your system from day one. More like a 50/50 chance whether he stays or goes. He ws offered an aggresive LT money contract offer, which means more than he would command playing for a team at G. This means only a team looking for LT would really qualify. Just so happens two of the potential teams interested are also ahead of Ravens in draft (Titans and Chargers). So do you draft and save on a quality LT who can start from day 1 or go pay top dollar for one who is NFL proven, not necessarily LT proven (yet).
  7. I agree that trading back most likely is out of the question. Although they do not need to, I see them trading up to 2-3 to ensure they get their man. By the time #6 comes around they may just be stuck with one player graded that high left. Trading up would also work out well as the move is within 5 spots, and gives both trade partners a "safety net" of sorts. Whoever might trade back isn't dropping that far out so they can reasonably assume they can still get their guy + comp for trades (picks, etc) and your not trading the farm to move up within 5 spots. Personally I would love to see them trade with Cleveland. Cleveland could safely still get their QB, darfting before the 49'ers and accrue a few more picks to build out a new era roster under Jackson in a draft rich in the mid-late rounds. That would also give the Ravens a strong chance of being able to draft either Ramsey or Jack. IHMO either player would best bolster the defense and also bring some swagger back to that side of the ball. D line is so talented this year, you can draft in the later rounds and still find value if needed. I'm just not sold on Bosa myself. He's good but I feel he has been hyped up beyond reality by a little, mostly due to lack of natural pass rushers this year.
  8. Stanley overall was not as impressive as the hype on him. Not saying he won't be a good player but maybe not a #6 grade and most likely a mid-late day 1 or day 2 pick.
  9. Here's hoping someone, anyone really steps up on defense to lead. You might not not think your ready to lead but just commit to it and the fact you committed yourself to it will allow you to realize it and make it happen even when its tough. Don't even give it up and don't ever quit. Leaders are not born, they are forged through trials.
  10. Myles Jack is a better football player than that garbage review you linked. In college his coaches just wanted to use him everywhere they could to help their school and program. Once Jack is able to settle into a single role he will be able to excel. Also D. Smith is now gone, allowing Mosley to slide to Mike and perhaps Jack to come in and play Will. Joey Bosa, is okay but really a one trick pony that will not be as effective at the next level due to losing his size advantage. He is just big and strong and fast. His pass rush is a bull rush without explosion but he has a high motor that got him by in college. He was also an after thought before Noah Spence was kicked from the team. Buckner is a better choice IMHO, however Ravens are already quite stout along the D-line. Possible they go after Buckner, but I doubt it. Reality is Myles Jack, Vernon Hargreaves or Ronnie Stanley are the most likely prospects to be drafted, should the Ravens hold at #6 and not try to trade up or down. Personally I think K.O. will stay and Monroe be cut, but not force the Ravens to go OT in the first round. Hargreaves is good, real good, but my personal take is Florida Gators players (specifically secondary) do not learn to tackle well enough. This is a concern, because as good as any player is including Hargreaves, players will catch deep balls sometimes but will he be strong enough to make sure tackles by wrapping up. Every ex-Gator secondary player I've seen in the last 10 years always go for this big hit, instead of wrapping up their man and ensuring they bring him down. Hargreaves also does this "gator chomp" (i call it) tackle, where he appears to wrap up but really is a well timed body slam type move. This scares me when drafting a CB/S this high. Elam had similar type issues, he was relatively good but missing tackles caught up to him and seemed to affect his confidence in a significant manner. I honestly do think the Ravens trade up to #2, or #3 to get their guy. Might even give them at shot at Ramsey. There are definitely teams that would like extra picks to build a roster and the Ravens might not even need to give up much in a trade. Moving within 5 picks is not going to break the bank for the Ravens. Instead of complaining a player isn't good enough try explaining why whoever you think they should take is worth it with facts or your own perspective. If you just believe everything the media tells you than your not really forming your own opinions.
  11. Come one Sizzle why you making those big bucks and not paying for the insignificant tickets. I mean I don't like tickets any more than anyone else, but when you can pay them easily why not? Dealing with the after effects is far worse and time consuming than paying the fine. Be the villain on Sundays not on the the roadways.
  12. Upshaw might not be the flashy playmaking type but the is the solid grinder that gets the job done and done well. He isn't asked to rush the passer much. He's asked to deny ball carriers and don't think he did not have his moments. Just ask Big Ben. ^_^
  13. People listen up and stop complaining about Flacco's contract being overpaid. You are looking at it as though he is getting $120 million etc all cash today. He isn't. This contract takes into account current market value (going rate for QB on open market) and the assumed market value of a QB on the open market down the road into the future. Like many good articles pointed out, by the time the gets to the more expensive years in the contract QB's overall value will have also climbed meaning his contract is right in line with a fair open market evaluation. If your going to complain your better get all the facts and get your facts straight. QB's get paid a lot of money period, look at Bradford and Cousins contract's and they have far less of a resume or post season success. Just stop the whining and complaining. If you like talking overpaid go follow baseball.
  14. Well I said The Ravens will draft Myles Jack with their first round pick. I think that pick is shaping up a bit. Only issue is he could be gone before they pick at #6. If Osemele stays put I see the Ravens trading up to #2 or #3 to ensure getting either Jack or Ramsey. Cleveland would be a good trade because dropping to #6 and gaining some picks would help build a stronger roster sooner and they can still confidently get their QB. Chargers are a 50/50 they would trade back but they would probably covet extra picks as well. IF A.Brown isn't motivated enough yet he better get motivated ASAP. If K.O. leaves then Ronnie Stanley is probably a lock at #6.
  15. Canty was a solid player for the Ravens. Good luck where ever you go from here.
  16. The +6M for this off-season the new Flacco-deal cleared up probably won't make us much more competitive in KO's market - there are G-needy teams that can still easily overbid us. If KO is primarily after the money, I still don't think we'll see him back in purple. He was offered a respectable (top 5-10) LT offer, which is more than highest paid G money. K.O. has not said he is after the money. This likely means that unless another team is willing to sign K.O. to play at LT and pay him as such, he will most likely have received his best offer from the Ravens. Also, some teams may be waiting for the ravens to resign K.O. then go after Monroe if he is indeed cut. The guy can play if healthy, and he'll probably accept a lesser offer due to the recent injuries he's had. I don't expect the Ravens to blow through the extra cap, maybe work out a long term deal with Tucker now, but they will not blow through that cap, IMHO. There are just not really any solid FA's worth pursuing at this point. Look for additions as cuts begin to be made when rosters are being set. Ravens have managed to get balanced with their cap space again, after carrying a fair amount of dead-money. It would be foolish to erase that positive situation so quickly.
  17. Article correction: "This is quentestial Joe Flacco." should be "quintessential". I'm also pretty sure fantasy football has ruined the ability for people to think objectively about where players really stack up. Seems if a player doesn't rack up the fantasy points, then they must not be a good player. What a load of garbage. I can think of at least 10-12 teams that would have been jumping for a chance to sign Flacco if the opportunity was there. I'm glad there are so many haters out there, it helps ensure Flacco has no reason to go elsewhere. Go criticize the players that are over hyped and in some cases over-paid as all stars and don't win on a regular basis. Reality is Flacco has done more than many players at the position with far less than others who enjoyed success.
  18. The harder people try to prove their point about "Flacco not being elite" the more I laugh. Who are they trying to convince? It sure seems they are the ones needing convincing. Being elite does not mean the best or greatest, it just means to be among the upper echelon. Flacco himself doesn't even care about this silly joke that was beaten dead a least over a year ago, now let it rest in peace. Why does no one keep talking about Eli being elite? I mean he has struggled as much as Flacco if not more and Eli actually made it a big deal to tell people he was elite. This subject should be shut, sealed and jettisoned to the center of the sun, never to be mentioned again.
  19. You need to go watch film and really study it, Myles Jack is IMHO the best athlete in this years draft class. He is very much like Ramsey where the natural ability and instincts set them apart and allow for them to play multiple positions. Hardest part for Jack is what position best suits him and his skills. Personally I don't think you worry about that at all. Draft him and really work him out in training camp to see how to best use his talents. I would lean towards ILB or even possibly, slot corner or FS is certain packages. Versatility give coaches options and opposition nightmares. I do belive he could develop his pass rush more, possibly coming off the edge from as CB or S or inside rushes but that will take a bit of time. His coverage skills are great allowing him to really cover anyone reliably well. Bosa while good, is just not quite at that level but he is a solid player. Lots of hype being the next JJ Watt but be serious for a second, the greats do not come out every year. I see, Tunsil going #1 (Titans), Wentz #2 (Browns), Ramsey #3 (Chargers), Bosa #4 (Cowboys), Hargreaves #5 (Jaguars) and Jack #6 Ravens. If somehow Ramsey falls to #6 he would be the pick only due to being a team need. Both Ramsey and Jack are above average athletes and competitors.
  20. I get the feeling KO is gonna stay. The fact KO is asking for top G money is not to say he won't play LT, but that he is basically aware he doesn't have a lot of film to see how good he really can be at LT. I think for a lot of teams only having limited film to watch on him at LT may be holding some team back from making offers. If a team needs a LT and they are going to pay big dollars for one, they are going to need to be very certain about the ability or the offer won't come. I think KO can be that solid, given a little time to adjust. If he stays he will become LT and Jensen will fill LG making for a very solid o-line.
  21. Well, let's be realistic here. He's probably going to have four pretty good lineman returning to block for him, and he will have Steve Smith, Aiken, and Perriman, who for all we know could light the world on fire. And none of that is affected whatsoever by his contract. It's certainly not an awesome lineup of assets, but let's stop pretending it's complete garbage either. He had less to work with last season and the offense still was pretty good. AND that's all excluding anybody we obtain in the draft, which again, is unaffected by Joe's contract. Life ain't that bad for Joe if no deal gets done. Isn't that what they said last year? We had our whole line returning and it was going to be one of our strengths? Why we were predicted to go so far but fell so hard. If Joe is only comfortable throwing to a couple WR's it won't matter who we draft period. He will be 9 year veteran this year and I expect him to play as such otherwise we are better off without him. We can get someone cheaper to play how he played last year. I guess losing key players at a regular pace all season did not have any affect on the ability to win games. The Ravens did not have any close games either, they were were completely one sided games, every single one all season long. What kool-aid flavor do you drink? STOP IT
  22. Fair weather fans do not have the right to complain.
  23. That is the thing, barely any competitive teams have the ample cap space to pay a guard north of $10 million a year, unless they're sold that he will be a LT, but that is still mercy. I think that the 49ers, Jags, Eagles and Titans have some of the most space so they might just throw a boatload at him. I pray he stays here, but I see a sneaky 49ers or Eagles team throwing a big number at him. Your right on point. KO's body of work is at G, not LT. He did show promise at LT but any team willing to make him an offer will need to be certain of his ability to play the position long term. A bit of a risk. It makes more sense that these teams interested would look at drafting a LT and save their dollars for paying future contracts. Rookie contracts are cheap by comparison. Titans are the only team I've heard say they do not want another rookie lineman as their o-line is fairly young and inexperienced still. Still hoping KO stays, but if he leaves wish him good luck.
  24. After the combine results so far, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with some of the prospects people have been raving about. No that they are terrible, just not quite were you want to see them to justify a #6 pick IMHO. At this point I'm actually leaning towards Myles Jack with the #6 pick. The guy is just a pure athlete all around, better then even Jalen Ramsey by a nudge. IMHO "best player available". Although he was more a chaser type Will, I do think he has the ability to develop his pass rush. This man can cover, which carries more value in todays pass happy league, and is a tackling machine. D Smith is great for now, but we could use another solid ILB to pair with Mosley moving forward. A.Brown has not really shown enough to be comfortable moving forward with him as a reliable starter. Solidifying the middle of the field with a stud LB'er will greatly improve pass coverage, helping both the secondary and the pass rush up front. He can also play a number of positions, (LB, RB, FS, Special Teams returner) giving coaches flexibility where and how they use him. I would stick him at LB mainly, but use him for other positions in certain situations due to his natural athleticism. For WR, I would also still lean towards Sterling Shepard for the right WR for the Ravens. Bit of a sleeper pick maybe, but he tested very well, has great hands and YAC ability to work out of the slot. His 40 time for being a shorter WR was ok. Really you don't ask him to be the regular deep threat, but he can run those routes occasionally. He actually out benched a number of WR's and LB's which I found telling for a much smaller player size wise. I also think the Ravens could grab him early third round, or even trade back for another 4th rounder possibly and still draft him.
  25. This is great news for Ravens fans. Ozzie and DeCosta make music happen with those mid to late rounds. I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple picks in rounds 2-5 via trades.
