  1. This weeks test against the Raiders will be a good test of the secondary play on defense. Amari Cooper is a handful but I think the Ravens have the personnel to limit the big play. Secondary has played well so far, but I think this week that challenge is increased. Run game needs something to start a spark. Almost would rather see Buck Allen active instead of Justin Forsett if Kenneth Dixon is not ready yet. West has been slightly better running the ball and Allen can catch and make defenders miss in space which might be a necessity in case the run game remains the same. ST has been outstanding so far. I'd use the word perfect, except for the big return given up on the put last game. 2 blocked field goals in 3 games so far is unreal though and wolf pack is back in full swing.
  2. Bortles should know by now, if you are the team's starting QB your kinda like the ships captain. That means for better or worse you stick it out with your team mates. Yes it sucks waiting around those couple of minutes for the game to finish when your losing but it tells your teammates your bought in and with them no matter what. Leaving early on says, your more concerned about yourself than the team. Ramsey, if you want to talk then talk on the field during the game. A real man leaves the game on the field where it's played. Talking after the fact is a mute point and changes nothing that occurred during the game. Also next game, if you ever play against SSSr again will be a whole new game and you especially do not want to fuel your opponent over a few words that did not need to be uttered. It's like throwing gasoline on the fire of a fiery competitor whose fire already burns hotter than most, before adding the fuel. Just my two cents. I have seen firsthand and lived this experience and will say this, when your own words come back to haunt you, you will have a whole lot of humble pie.
  3. The fact the media cannot call the Ravens what they are to this point 3-0 and perfect says more about their ability to be real about the situation. Who cares though, if they can't see things for what they are who cares. That 1-8 record is heavily influenced by the Ravens 3 W's also. Take that out of the equation and that combined record would be 1-5, which many teams could amount to over any stretch throughout the season and still be a contender. Two losses does not automatically make a team a bust to make some noise. At this rate no one will be closely watching the Ravens quietly march forward and handle their business, which is fine with me. Also go ask Steelers or Bengals fans? If winning against "lesser competition" (media's view) does not justify the record, what does losing games you should win signify? Steelers were simply picked apart vs the Eagles. Bengals could not rattle the young signal caller. I'm not saying these teams are bottom barrel but I'd suggest maybe they are not as complete a team as the media likes to point out either.
  4. Defense is much more hungry to make some plays. Great to see. Wright gets picked on because he's the weak link relatively in a much improved secondary. Nothing to panic about, but can always look to get better and getting tested lots early will help down the road. Gotta love seeing more sacks and interceptions. Just missing a few more fumbles and the defense will resemble the defenses of past years.
  5. So for the Heart-Attack comment all I will say, this really should give fans a better appreciation of what the Ravens deal with in order to find ways to overcome and win. Joe personality certainly helps to set the tone in that regard and it does not require a big hoorah moment all the time. There is simply the tranquility under duress and that should not be under valued. I certainly agree with Ramsey needing to earns his stripes before making such comments to a seasoned vet heading to the HoF. With only 3 pro level games under your belt you have much to learn still. It really came across more like taddle telling IMHO. If you want to be the bigger man as you speculate then leave it on the field and don't throw it to the media. If you want media attention then earn it with your play not petty post game trash talk.
  6. Okay Ravens. You brought Juan in because he is a great offensive line coach of which I think we can see the evidence to support this. However you got away from the zone running scheme and the running game has dried up altogether. It works well because it is simple to execute and lets linemen simply attack. Pretty much every other running scheme requires much more thinking to properly block off the defenders correctly. IMHO it is well past the time to return to the zone running game. If you want to be a serious contender you need to be able to run late in the season when the weather gets cold and especially in playoffs. Cannot ignore this forever and do not need to panic. Also cannot repeat the same thing that is not working over and over and expect different results.
  7. Jensen is a run game mauler pure and simple. Alex Lewis is coming along fine, but has not had a full off-season in the pro's to really get bulked up right for the position and jump to the pro's.
  8. That boy can play and best part he's keeping his nose clean to the plays stick.
  9. Well written IMHO. Definitely agree the check down offense is in need of fixing. They have the tools to be aggressive. Especially early in games then can afford to attack the defense and stick it to them. 2 yard, 3 yard 5 yard plays need to be transformed into 5 yard, 7 yard and 12 yards plays. But like you said, cannot argue with 3-0.
  10. He clearly says in the video. The time was running with no stoppage to swap the offense's ball or a kicking ball. Thus they used the ball that was there to preserve time to get the snap off and make the attempt. After the penalty they obviously got a stoppage so they swapped the ball as they normally would. But like Tucker says, it is a very rare scenario when that happens.
  11. Unless there is a clear difference in play, Zuttah has been the start for a while now and also commands a larger salary. Doesn't make much sense to pay that salary to sit on the bench or be inactive when the level of play is roughly the same.
  12. Umm did you read what you wrote? Points matters over ToP. ToP is important but its points that win or lose a game if you have enough or lack enough. ToP is all about shorting your opponent offensive opportunities and making things more difficult and trying for defenses by gassing them.
  13. The fact he already dealt with the big success and low points in his career, give him a great understanding and mentality of how to handle the game. This will help him to have continued consistent success moving forward.
  14. Pretty sure the lack of a play sleeve is due to one of two possible reasons. 1) Joe literally knows the play book that well, plus the way they get the plays called doesn't use a legend/number look up. 2) The play book is not complex enough to require it. This just means the play names are obvious enough that a sleeve serves next to no purpose except for keeping your forearm kinda warm-ish. Most times a sleeve is to help with complex play calling or when you have a lot of "spare" plays that rarely get called. This way they can be listed and referenced as needed without having to worry about forgetting to call it correctly. IMHO pretty sure Joe is just a boss and has no need for the sleeve since being the boss.
  15. Great to see, but why not do something in remembrance of Tray Walker as well?
  16. In hindsight, IF they had the same amount of cameras, potentially the one score doesn't count and the tone of the game would have changed for the better. Gotta love the fact he was able to roll with the punches and keep playing tot get the job done.
  17. Ramsey would have been nice, but Stanley was sorely needed and looks to be a key cog along the line for the next decade. Myles Jack would have been easy to scoop up. Ravens were definitely scared of injuries after this last season though. It would be great if KC could show up in the games besides just ST. Sure seems they created a project by trying to switch from his natural position to ILB. Kaufusi getting injured was unfortunate but I'm not sold he would be making much more impact that KC. That and there is a lot of depth along the line. At least right now, the second and third round picks seem under whelming. I would love to be proven wrong by KC since Kaufusi won't have the chance for now. Jaguars got the flashier of the draft picks as far as position. Ravens got the flashier of the draft picks as far as style. (see draft ensemble)
  18. Great to see Jernigan finding his groove. The elimination of the big costly penalties is also a welcome addition and sign of his maturation. Keep plugging away big guy. We love them sacks!
  19. As much as I'd love to see Doom out there, I really appreciate the chance for some younger players to get some valuable game reps. Doom got over worked last season when Suggs went down, so these first few games kinda help keep him fresh for the long season. The current depth also makes this much less of an issue. Stanley sitting out seems like a precautionary move more than anything, especially if you read his attitude towards playing Sunday. Jacksonville is a bit of a hard team to read. They have a talented roster on paper, no arguing that. What team shows up on game day is a hit and miss affair. Some weeks they look in sync and run like a well tuned machine. Other weeks they look like a turkey running around without it's head. Prepare and expect their best and do not let them build up momentum and get the fans into it, like in Cleveland.
  20. Keep stacking days Aiken. There will be points where you you be the guy everyone looks to, to make some plays happen. Ravens O need to start taking advantage of all the WR's they have this year. They can definitely spread out opponents secondaries. Trades at this point make little to no sense. The Ravens did not go out to fill out their roster with more depth only to turn around and give that depth away. That aside, if a team came to them and made a strong offer for a player, I see no reason why they would not at least consider it. It's a fine line though, because as we all know too well and this last week was a good reminder of how injuries happen when you least expect them to and to any caliber of player.
  21. I completely agree. Most teams are expecting a run on first down and many times they have been correct. Flacco has the weapons to be throwing on on first down easily even if just short "extended hand-offs". Other than that though, Trestman needs to blend the drop back looks of pass plays and run plays more so it is more difficult to see what is coming. It just seems the drop back right now largely gives away the play just before it happens. Joe can work on selling his fakes a bit better too IMHO. Should be selling them hard even if he isn't throwing the ball to draw defends deep and keep them off the ball carrier. Lastly, cannot have Joe throwing from the shotgun so much. It makes the chances/odds of plays being a run significantly higher as soon as he steps back under center. That is no way to help the run game.
  22. Wouldn't go that far. Pierce is already signed for 4 years and BW will get his new contract this next off season, if not before. Pierce gives reason for optimism but BW has been doing his thing carrying the bulk of the load for several seasons now. Not saying Pierce won't become that caliber of player, just has not shown it yet to make FO think they are completely safe if they were to move on without BW.
  23. Guy has been a solid player all around since joining the Ravens. He does not often get the recognition he deserves but this is well deserved and earned. Keep it up big guy.
  24. Now the Ravens can win and eat their cake too! :P
  25. If the NFL gets pushed enough by coaches/owners, my guess would be that they change the agreement to something on par with your idea. It is probably simpler for the NFL to pass the task along and just pay the bill. The other thought that crossed my mind is you would think the NFL would want their own cameras on the field since owning NFL Films and their own channel. More footage never hurt anyone.
