  1. Well any OC with half a clue would have his QB audible to a run if they are going to play 2 safeties and/or clear out the box. Should really be automatic to say the least. It's the same idea as taking your shot deep if you got single man to man on the outside with no safety over top.
  2. Time to let Joe have a bigger influence in the play calling department. He's out there seeing the field and knows what plays to call. Plus he gets paid to get results.
  3. Well if Maxx Williams knee needs time, its an easy call to put Waller in for him so he can heal up. Both play ST well and another big red zone target couldn't hurt either.
  4. Zuttah played very well yesterday. Easily his best game of the season. Got high grades from PFF and I expect FilmStudy to grade him out well as well. Issue yesterday was on the left side. Hurst and Jensen were very bad. Yanda and Zuttah were overall very good. Guess you forgot the 2 holding calls on Zuttah that stalled otherwise productive drives due to not trusting technique. Just like wow, come on. A seasoned vet needs to know better and let up and take what you get, instead of wipe out a good play and set the entire offense back in a whole. Penalty issue was not limited to just Zuttah though. Yesterday was like a soft practice as far as motivation and focus. Wouldn't know it was a home game the way they came out, only to actually show up in the fourth quarter.
  5. Right now I am most worried about the offense. Not the ability of the players, but manner the plays are called and their execution. Seems either plays are quick hitters that go for too few yards to really help or deep bombs that require excellent protection to even have a chance to get the play off before pass rush gets there. Really missing Kukiak's system. It was simple and always ensured the ball is coming out quick, always. Every play had either a 3-step, 5-step or 7 step drop back, at which point the ball was to be released promptly to the open receiver. With Trestman's offense Joe drops back and sits and waits all day way too often. No doubt why this offense is too easy to get out of sync. The offense itself does not instill any rhythm. Someone better tell Flacco if he holds onto the ball even a hair past 3 seconds, he's getting smacked. Heck have a coach with a pool noodle smack him silly upside the head in practice as soon as his 3 seconds are up so it sinks in. Not rocket science that him holding the ball too long is the reason for taking a beating and making it much tougher on his blockers. If Trestman complains that is not enough time to execute any plays, then scrap those plays because they are not good enough for this league. If Joe cannot throw off his planted foot instead of his back foot, then put Malett in there. This would seem to be a strong indicator that Joe is still not 100% as as such should not be out there, especially when the offensive line is in flux.
  6. This game is on the coaches. You went for two instead of take the guaranteed point which would have made Oakland have to convert a two point to take win or lose. There is little point going for two when you are behind. When your ahead you go for two, because as you can see it comes back to bite you. Accepting the penalty on 4th down was just awful. They were rolling and you can get off the field held to FG, but no lets give them a crack at a TD. Don't get me started with total lack of discipline today. Both sides had some terrible calls against them. With this many weapons on offense, they should be putting up at least 7 in each quarter. There really seemed to be a lack of motivation to make the most of out their opportunities. When the offense has difficulty doing much against a defense that until today had not looked great, says so much more about the state of the offense. Way to waste home field advantage too. Might as well start rolling out welcome mats for opponents if that is all the fight your going to put up. Heck tell the fans to show up for the start of fourth quarter. Don't worry, they won't complain since the offense won't have done much yet and you'll have saved them the frustration of watching rookie mistakes being made on game day. The only bright spot on this game is the fact Weedle was not seriously injured and returned to the field.
  7. Forsett sitting this game does not surprise me, probably because I would have made the same move. Buck Allen has been sitting and is a very similar back to Forsett. With the ground game not really moving in full swing yet, they need something to change and create a spark. Hopefully this will do it and keep all the back chompin' at the bit. Stanley not playing is a bit of a surprise, but better he gets healthy for the rest of the season than risk anything happening. This will now be a statement game for Hurst and a chance to show last years injury was a fluke occurrence.
  8. Ya and have not starting caliber LT... How long did you think this through?
  9. Hurst will be much better if he needs to play. Getting blocked into your own QB is something that rarely happens in the first place, kinda freak injury in a few ways. Extra motivation for Hurst anyways. If anything Trestman can take advantage by running lots of looks Kalil Macks way then swiftly going away from him. that or dink and dunk over him if he's getting too aggressive.
  10. True. The fact he was ready to retire though would still put the Ravens back in the same boat anyways. I'm still counting on Stanley making the start. He has been everything he you could ask for from a starting rookie LT and looks poised to continue to be a gamer come rain or pain.
  11. Ever since seeing Urban on the field, I had a sense he would excel at batting balls out of the air. So far he has not disappointed at all. Even better to know that was a designed play he blocked. ST is playing lights out, minus one big punt return, and winning games.
  12. Time for a fast start on offense to reward the defense for their outstanding effort the past few weeks. Also, TRESTMAN, please do not run on first play of game for once! Try a slick looking PA with a deep option to Perriman or Wallace with underneath routes. Your plays are good, but you need to play the chess game better. Many times it is far too obvious if the upcoming play is a run of pass.
  13. It is much different playing on the road vs at home. Road game get noisy when you need it quiet(er). Home games get noisy when you need it most. Also Oakland is far enough away the bank wll be mostly home team fans anyways.
  14. Tough call for Waller. I would love to see him in game action. Honestly though it's been hard getting to ball around to all the players already on the roster. Unless someone already on the roster is dogging it hard out there, I cannot see someone that would be scratched to make room for him. Buck does not make much sense since he is basically a younger version of Forsett. Forsett also commands a larger salary. IMHO they are pretty much identical as far as skills/ability. Forsett obviously has experience. After going out of their way to sign a return specialist, it seems far fetched to think they would part ways so soon, even on the back of a muff. If someone at depth and playing ST, starts dogging it hard out there, that would be the candidate for potential roster changes.
  15. Not his fault. Got blocked into Joe. I'll bet that experience is now extra motivation for him if/when he gets his next opportunity.
  16. With CTE being a big issue now, especially with the leagues' front office, this is to be expected. Basically they will air on the side of caution to avoid complications. Good move for player safety too, since rushing someone back that is not yet ready can lead to repeated injury and life long issues. Jensen can play LG just fine and IMHO is much better as a run mauler. Let Alex recover fully before throwing him back out there, for his sake and the teams sake in the long run. Stanley they are basically letting him rest and heal as much as possible, so he can play on game day. The boot is definitely more precautionary just to play things safe and possibly keep opponents guessing at who they will be facing.
  17. This has to be media fluff to create something to talk about and give his team a reason to get up for this game. KO is mad because he did not get the offer he wanted. Okay. You got it elsewhere, so problem solved. You cannot always gets your pie and eat it too. You were still given an highly competitive offer. the fact Raiders spent very little of their cap and could outbid the Ravens doesn't really say they care, as much as they really needed someone of your caliber and could afford to over pay. Just wait until they try to re-structure when your salary is out of balance for their cap.
  18. Has to be IMHO. Juan is great at teaching pass pro to his players. I am still waiting to see him teach the same players to be run maulers, going on in the 2rd year now. Run game has steadily decreased since Juan's arrival. Not saying he is a bad coach, but the facts are the facts and you won't win late int he year, especially if you cannot run when the weather is cold.
  19. It's not hate. It is the fact to be a Raven you gotta LOVE beating the Steelers! And add in the Bengals now too. Time to throw out the word "hate" from our vocabulary, it doesn't make things any better using it and detracts from the real goal of winning..
  20. Kinda puzzling to say the least. If he was aware of the potential for a trade just due to numbers, what else you gonna do? Raiders obviously have not spent near as much of their salary cap dollars and swooped in with a deal too good to pass up. I look at this deal as a win win for both sides. I would still rather KO was able to stick around. It was just not in the cards for the dollars he wanted and what the Ravens were able to offer, that is just business side of things. I will say this though KO can pancake like a boss.
  21. That T-shirt can become a piney for the cold weather games late in the season, just beware the fashion police showing up to take you away.
  22. No, it isn't all on Joe. The line has allowed pressure from the edges, receivers have been off on some routes and had some drops, and there is little threat of a running game. Point is, Joe is paid at a level where he should be more consistent in his ability to overcome those issues or else the offensive coordinator needs to shake things up. My biggest concern with Joe is lack of consistency with his mechanics. When he ripped off 21 in a row, he was stepping up in the pocket, stepping into his throws, and making quick decisions. In the third quarter, he was back to standing flat-footed, throwing without a step, and holding on to the ball too long. All those things you mention are also the effect of the opponents defense trying to win a close game.
  23. OBJ move aside and feast on the new best one handed catch and from an ILB CJ MOSLEY!!! Oh and he lets his play on the field do the talking for him.
  24. Bring back the Zone Stretch run scheme!!! It worked so well and then someone had the insane idea to stop what works in favor of the unknown! Well now we know that was a bad idea. Run game has gotten worse since going a new direction. So again I say, bring back the Zone Stretch run scheme!!!
  25. I don't disagree with anything you said, but I will add this. It seems a bit strange that when you need more ILB depth to draft a player that was an OLB. The tasks and responsibilities change enough to make it a sizeable hurdle to really know the position well enough to play fast and instinctive football. Taking a bit of time is the pill the Ravens must bite for drafting him. They also gotta hope for no significant ILB injuries either or they will need to thrust KC into a larger role than he may be ready for from their standards.
