  1. Nobody ever questioned Torrey's character, he's a high class guy and no one can deny that. One can only assume that he wrote the open letter because he's already got a deal in place for Tuesday, it always sucks to see a familiar face go. All that being said i don't think Torrey (play wise) is irreplaceable, lets just hope that him leaving means we'll go WR high finally.

  2. why did you put "..." on the end as if i didn't post before Spags was hired elsewhere...
  3. I wanted us to draft Renner late last year, so i think that could be good signing. Thought he looked alot like Flacco skill wise - tall QB with underrated mobility and an arm that can make all the throws. He should be good competition for that backup spot.
  4. whoa whoa whoa, sure tackler, what game were you watching? nobody back there was tackling well at all
  5. Something I've been looking at as I've been getting ready for the offseason is the prospect of signing a vet CB for depth, not a guy that should be starting but quality depth at the vet minimum would be nice, if this year has taught us anything it's that we should have at least some depth at that position with our starters being Jimmy and Webb, two guys that have had problems with injuries. I don't want to be caught again next year without depth. So a couple vets out there in no particular order: Charles Tillman, Terrance Newman, Rashean Mathis, Hold on to Aaron Ross (although he's had two serious injuries two years in a row). Also a vet DT would be nice, especially if we indeed let Cody walk. I've never been one for signing young high profile FAs...I'd rather take cheap vets or low profile guys, i think thats what our FO does as well. Seems like we get good value out of doing that and we don't have to tie up a bunch of money for high profile guys.
  6. Oh, Forsett i mean
  7. we have Rice, Pierce, Taliaferro, Forsett, and Wood - we are crowded at the moment, theres a very small chance any UDFA RB can make the team
  8. i never said "no 6th round CBs could help us", i'm saying a 6th rounder (regardless of how deep the draft is) wouldnt be as good of a #3 as Chykie or even Asa. Not even 1st rounders are always able to come in right away, think Jimmy Smith or Dee Milliner (who got benched plenty of times last season). You keep saying its a passing league as if you're the only one who knows that, but what apparently you don't know is that goes both ways, if Flacco goes down and you are ready to just mail in the season shows how much of a fan you really are, our season would be over just like the 2008 Patriots...a backup QB can change that, what if Flacco goes down, you'd be the one saying "oh well at least we have a #3 CB, our #2 QB is no good but we do have a 3rd string CB, SB here we come." fine, he wouldnt have to guard a #1 or #2 on a regular basis, but using Megatron doesn't help your point, #1's and #2s can't cover Megatron consistently how can you just throw Asa in and wait for him to be good when you are dead set against having him or Chykie playing #3? his drug suspension wasn't over anything bad, it was proscribed medication, he shouldn't have anymore trouble with it. everyone knows Webb plays best in the slot, but he is definitely good enough to play on the outside, if Chykie or Asa were to start the season as the #3 there would be no way Webb would be the slot CB, the FO isn't incompetant
  9. 3) "Lardarius or web" Lardarius Webb is one person...Flacco could go down at any time as well, leaving Tyrod as the starter? no thanks, great athlete, not a great QB 4) Asa could become a good player, in fact he could be great, he's only 24, has NFL experience and has shown flashes of being extremely good 5) The fact that you are arguing that Brown is not a serviceable #3 shows that you 'know nothing" - your words not mine. I'd much rather have Chykie in the #3 spot with actual NFL experience and being serviceable than some rookie who went undrafted. Every QB will target our #3 just like Flacco targets #3s all the time, every QB will go after the weakest link, its balanced out by the fact that he will be on their #3 WR, he doesnt have to be able to cover Megatron or Gordan or any other #1 or #2, all he has to do is cover another team's 3rd option and he is more than capable of doing that
  10. I'm not dead set against giving him a shot, but i wouldn't until i know for sure he is over the cocaine, he will now have more money than ever and that'll make him way more susceptible to falling back into cocaine, thats not an addiction that easy to get over especially when you can afford it no problem
  11. yeah he isn't likely to make the team or even practice squad, he only had 11 career receptions in college and 1 TD
  12. our bank account cares about reputation, if we take him and he screws us, ticket sales go down, we have to cut him leaving us with dead money, etc
  13. how many 6th round CBs come into the league ready to play, better yet how many 1st rounders come in ready to play?....the answer is almost none, even our own Jimmy Smith needed a few years, Chykie and Asa at least have NFL experience, theres a massive difference between coverage in college and coverage in the pros. Roberson can't play man coverage to save his life, youre dreaming if you think he is one of the best cover corners in the draft. Obviously you don't know much, saying that Chykie can't play, he may be inconsistent but he has shown that he can hang with pro receivers. I'd be more impressed if you found someone on this forum that didnt see every game last year and the year before and so on.
  14. Injuries can't be predicted, they are accidents (most of the time). How many people saw Brady going down for a whole year a couple of years back? that year the Pats were prepared anyway and still won many games and made the playoffs. Just because Flacco hasn't missed a game doesn't mean he won't ever, we saw that he isn't invincible at the end of last year.
  15. no one said they would rather have Wenning over the players that were available. Its one thing to say that you wanted "Exum, Roberson, Purioy, Reynolds or Michele" and another to say the guy that we took is a bum. People, obviously including myself, hated on your comment for that reason. Many of us thought we should have gone another way with our pick. Calling a player a bum before he even plays a down in the NFL? Saying he's a bum is not "speaking the truth" that is asserting an opinion and there's a vast difference.
  16. im hoping Orr is too, from what i see he looks like he can really play and be leader in the locker room
  17. "it's a passing league" you need depth at QB, all QBs on the roster need to be able to throw and as much as i love Tyrod as an athlete, he can't please refrain from calling any player a "bum" before ever seeing them play in the NFL, you know the cliche'd 6th round QB, just because he was taken late doesnt mean he's a bum, and just because a CB was drafted doesnt mean they'll be good, we have 2 fantastic CBs, Brown has starting experience and Asa has had flashes
  18. why not give Jerry Rice Jr. a shot? he'll be lucky to make the practice squad but who knows, maybe he'll surprise everyone
  19. is roberson still out there?
  20. i definitely believe Asa is more than capable of holding down that spot, if no one else is signed then that'll be a camp battle to watch
  21. i really really like Asa, he's shown flashes, but those suspensions have hindered him, Chykie has played well too - hes inconsistent but he's serviceable
  22. oh...ok
  23. cut Jensen? why, we havent even got a chance to see what he's got yet...unless i just misunderstood what you meant
  24. the worst part about the draft and Undrafted Free Agency is that other teams get to take part
  25. Aaron wilson is confirming that we signed Jamie Meder and his awesome beard oh yeah, and hes a good football player too, but that beard though
