  4. If Gregory is still on the board at our pick (no trade up) would you grab him? I'm seriously doubting i would, guy sounds like he needs a Rolando McClain year to get his life back in order, a couple weeks ago he was a consensus top 5 pick but in light of his problems he may need to just take a year

I wouldn't. He is a good rusher but I don't like his body type for Ravens D. What he said last night sounded like a drop out of the first hit home but I'm still not sure whether it's worth a trust with our 2nd pick.

  5. Seems like the unlikely star of the draft so far is Laken Tomlinson. Really hope the kid makes it, i think we saw the future "man of the year"

  6. It's pretty funny/sad that if you go read articles about our first round pick grade or whatever, every other comment is about Perriman's hairline. I think he needs to ditch the dreads, they don't go well with the receding hairline, not like its a bad thing, yah can't control it, genetics suck sometimes

  7. Lots of great players still on the board, can't wait for tomorrow. I'm iffy on Perriman but i think he'll turn out just fine. Even if you don't like him just keep in mind that one player doesn't make or break a class. Just look at the Elam draft class, when you have a GM like Ozzie you will find players in all 7 rounds so don't get hung up on one in particular.

  8. Unlike a lot of people i wouldn't mind Funchess if he's available in the second. Williams and Walford are more ready right away but Funchess' potential is interesting

i would like him in the 2nd. would be a great pick

The only issue is he'll work mostly out of the slot, essentially a move tight end, and the Ravens already have Camp for the slot, unless they want Funchess to play TE and play inline, also

  9. Just started watching some tape on Landon Collins and after a couple minutes i found myself paying more attention to Bama's other safety Perry, i gotta say I'm a fan

I also had the same problem when watching Strong. I chose the Strong vs Peters game and just watched Peters

strong and peters were actually quite evenly matches, nice back and forth between the 2, not strongs fault his qb couldnt make the ball come within 10 yards of him everytime he targeted him lol

  10. If Landon Collins is on the board at our pick i can see Ozzie pulling the trigger, as much as I'd hate to take ANOTHER safety. He's a guy that shouldn't be available when we pick but might because the teams that need a safety above us have bigger needs. He's super talented and wouldn't have to start right away, If Elam continues to disappoint and/or Hill can't be retained he'd give us options. Just saying....Ozzie could deem him BPA. Just food for thought

  11. All these re-signings (and the one signing) at safety may mean we won't look for a safety this draft which I'm not necessarily opposed to. I mean we do have Hill, Elan, and Brooks who are still young and very recently drafted, plus we've resigned Levine and newly acquired Lewis, theres a lot of potential in that group, adding another may make us overcrowded

Well, at least we'll have enough safeties to plug in if all our corners get injured again.

Trawick is pretty solid too tho if he gets a chance by learning from the Saftey VETS, Hill and Lewis will better Elam as well. Maybe one or 2 more safteys will be drafted. I dont like the signing of melvin tho.

  12. Polamalu more instinctive than Reed? because he jumped over the line one time? by all means lets all forget the 100 other times he tried that move and failed. Polamalu over Reed is a joke.

@TDubbs Reed didn't actually retire. He said it was an April Fools joke.

@ravensnick ... Dang, I guess I just read it like a footnote, or maybe some wishful thinking. Makes sense now I suppose, there would at least be a bit more Reed talk when he hangs it up for good.

  13. I'd hardly call Pierce a "contributor on game day" if anything he was a liability. With an Oline as good as ours was last season he was our only back who still struggled, it wasn't a mistake that he was a healthy scratch for one game. Lets go ahead and chalk him up to a lost cause, with the Forsett re-signing he was expendable, its very unlikely he would have made it to the regular season with Forsett, LT, and presumably a rookie, theres no room for him and he would have been cut anyway, him getting a DUI just expedited the process
  14. well then i agree, but thats not the point I'm trying to make. Yanda should be better the next two years but Osemele won't be far behind and on top of those two quality seasons he will turn in multiple seasons at that level, like i said: its about both longevity and quality
  15. A random list of players who can snap doesn't prove anyone wrong, from the article you linked it was the author who suggested who DeCosta was talking about, not a direct quote from DeCosta. You ruin your own credibility when you criticize my attitude and in the same breath call me myopic. What i said wasn't wrong, Urschel has yet to play center and i have yet to see a direct quote saying that is what his future is, I'm sure every player on our oline could realistically play center and "snap" just fine, that doesn't mean thats where they'll be in a year or two.
  16. not assumed by everyone, no reason to assume it. Saying he can snap isn't an argument, especially when the same cited article lists 3 others who we wouldn't want playing center in a million year (plus two of the guys are no longer with the team and the other spent all last season on the practice squad)
  17. I disagree that this past year was his best of his entire career, come on lets be real, he had a fantastic season but the best of his 7 years is simply not true. Are you saying Yanda will be in the league two more years than Osemele or that the next two years will be better than Osemele? i cannot deny the latter and i havent tried to make a point saying otherwise, this is a question of longevity + quality. I believe its easily possible Yanda will turn in two better seasons than Osemele over the next two years but it won't be that wide of a margin. Osemele will turn in two very quality seasons plus multiple quality seasons after that while with Yanda we are talking only a few more seasons left total and theres no telling if he'll drop off after a year or two, some guys deal with age well, others don't, we simply don't know how he'll deal with it.
  18. i can snap too, can i play center? not to mention that also listed Shipley and Gino, would you want them to play as well? Also Jenson who just spent a season hanging out on the practice squad
  19. Yanda has had a fantastic career here in Baltimore but we are talking about the future, not the past. I don't know if Osemele will have a career on par with Yanda, not many have, is that reason to overlook his age? no. Osemele has emerged as one of the leagues best guards and he's young. Yanda is one of, if not the, best guards in football but he'll be 31 and will only get worse from here. Not to mention we don't have a clear cut replacement at LG like we do at RG, so this argument is not only "Yanda is old and Osemele is young" its about whats best for the line as a whole. Urschel is more than capable of taking over at RG, will he be as good as Yanda? probably not right away but he's shown to be more than capable of handling it. If we let Osemele walk, who will take over? move Zuttah from his natural position? plug in a rookie? the best solution is to go with the proven backup in Urschel
  20. At what point did i ever disrespect Yanda's game? i said Osemele has more football left than him which is just a fact. As far as the business goes loyalty only gets you so far, as i said - we'd all love for him to stay but you have to think of the future and if the difference between their possible contracts is small then you have to go with the younger of the two. If Osemele is looking to become the highest paid guard in the league then obviously you have to go with Yanda.
  21. I'm shocked that my choice of Osemele is against the grain here. Obviously the answer to the poll is to try and re-sign both but next man up is what we do. If it comes down to one or the other then its Urschel's time to step up at RG, there's been no indication that Urschel was ever drafted to be a center so can we stop stating that as if there has been any indication. Thats pure speculation like saying Webb should be moved to FS. Osemele is younger and we have no clear backup for LG, at the moment at least, Urschel on the other hand is a natural at RG as we saw. Zuttah is under contract until 2019 so what is the reasoning behind moving him out of center? he's above average at center so keep him there for the remainder of his contract, no need to move him anywhere. Urschel had his tryout during the playoffs at RG and played really well, why throw him in at center when he's never played there at all? Monroe, Osemele, Zuttah, Urschel, Wagner is a fantastic line across the board. Next man up, if Yanda wants another big pay day at 31 then let him walk, keep the young talent and let the aging vet go, Yanda will be 31 come next off season and will only get worse from here, Osemele will be 26, he's got a ton of football left, much more than Yanda does. No one wants to see Yanda go but this is a business, and there comes a time when you have to let the vets go to keep the younger talent, you all should know that by now. Nothing good comes from letting your roster get too old. By all indications Yanda is a team player through and through so we should be able to afford both next offseason regardless since we will be free from all the dead cap we have at the moment.
  22. 9ers can't catch a break this year, they shouldn't have run Harbaugh out of town, they would stand a much better chance at turning this mess around

    1. hn68wb4

      hn68wb4

i disagree, Kaep is overrated, he can't carry that team to a winning record and that defense is losing everyone. Multiple retirements plus didn't they lose both of their starting corners? I think at best they break even

    2. ravensnick

      ravensnick

No way the 49ers have a winnign record with the Seahawks and Cardinals in the divison. Plus, I think this may be the Ram's year.

    3. hn68wb4

      hn68wb4

I definitely think its the Ram's year, all they were really missing was a starting QB and they just traded for Foles. They've got arguably the best Dline in the game, their linebacking corps will be addressed through the draft and their secondary is just inexperienced, another year they'll be pretty good. All they need now is to patch up that oline

  23. How much cap will we have next offseason? i feel like once all this dead money is gone we will have more cap than we are used to

    1. rmcjacket23

      rmcjacket23

Not really possible to determine an accurate figure at this time.

We only have $98.7M committed to the cap right now (subject to change of course), but that's only for about 30 players.

  24. This is shaping up to be a crazy offseason - Ngata traded to the Lions, Jimmy Graham traded to the Seahawks, McCoy traded to the Bills - what the heck is going on?

  25. Ngata traded to the Lions...called it....just sayin
