  1. Was really hoping Barnett or Allen, but Humphrey addresses an area we have been absolutely trash in for years now. Everyone was crying for a corner, but we sign Carr and suddenly it's no longer a need?

Taking Foster or one of the OT made no sense to me. It's unwise to use a #16 overall pick on a RT or a LB when you already have a first round pro bowl LB. There is plenty of mid round value that can start at RT/ play ilb beside Mosley.

Time will tell, but we should have the most physical and talented secondary in the league.

That's actually the number I figured the Ravens were waiting for... Damn, that hurts a little, but I suppose if the Ravens nab one of Davis or Williams in the draft, I won't be upset.

I think we have to grab those guys if they're there. I understand the CB talent, but expecting the offense to perform with the current personal or adding a mediocre WR in FA now doesn't seem probable.

Kinda makes me think the FO thinks the roster is viable for a legitimate run. I don't think you throw $10/year at your NT and $9M/year at a FA safety unless you're trying to win now.

The time is now.. Flaccos is 32, a SB capable QB, and paid like one. We have 3 years maybe 4 left to win with Joe before needing to find another SB capable QB. Superbowl run needs to happen within the next 2-3 seasons

And barring any last minute changes:

DJax to Tampa, Britt to Philly.

Called Britt to philly yesterday round noon. Watch out Schefty and Rapaport.... I'm coming for your job.

Who needs "league sources" when you have casino and strip club sources. That how you get a real scoop.

    Haha my man!

  5. Most of these moves aren't really a surprise, from what I've read on the boards, except that Wagner got 9mil a year and we will make a push for BWill.. I hoped for the opposite.

So what's out there for us now..? Garcon and Marshall gone blows. So at WR that leaves Pryor? Britt? Torrey? and for OL Mangold? and???

    CB Bouje? Gillmore? Prince?

I will say, I've met Zach a few times and you can tell that he's a very smart guy.  It sucks as a fan and a team to lose out on a young ascending player, but at the end of the day, you have to hope the best for him.  I don't doubt for one second that he put a lot of thought into this decision and made the choice that he ultimately felt was best for himself and his future.  I wish him luck.  I'm sad to see him go, but I'll never blame a guy for walking away to try to preserve his health.

    Well said

Our big problem in the draft is recognizing and developing talent. Darian Stewart is yet another safety that has blossomed when he left the Ravens.

Darian Stewart was ranked #16 at safety by PFF in 2014. So he played very well in Baltimore and then "blossomed" when he went to a team with two pro bowl corners, T.J Ward beside him, and 2 pro bowl pass rushers. Not to take anything away from the man, but let's be real.. He was good in Baltimore and now is surrounded by the best supporting cast in the league.

I don't know about keeping Lewis at LG if they lose Wagner. I think they would go after a major upgrade at LG if they lose a top RT and shift Lewis to the right. I know that Steve and Co. mentioned Lewis as a LG but I would assume that's under the assumption that Wagner is at RT.

I personally don't think beefing up the OL starts and ends with Zuttah. If you talking about a physical and demanding run game, then, I don't know if Lewis is a good fit in a gap/power screen given his footwork and leverage. We'll see how he improves over the off season but it's a question mark, at RT the feet will still be a problem but he could play with more leverage given the height.

" if Lewis can play RT than adding a FA guard that's better than Lewis at guard (would be huge). Just for arguments sake you could say that 2 above average guards significantly improve the OL rather than at RG and RT. ex. 2012 and 2014 had two very good guards and young average RTs. And before those seasons it was Grubbs and Yanda as above avg guards."

Glad to see I'm not the only one advacating this theory!

(depends how good they view Lewis can be at LG or RT)

The fact that Ryan is doing what he's doing this season with guys like Robinson and Gabriel having typical, subpar seasons is what makes his play so special.

Why is that special? He's not doing it with those two? He's doing it with Julio, Sanu, Freeman and Coleman. The other two play small roles while Gabriel has explosive plays.

But yes, Matt Ryan is having an extraordinary year.

Williams is likely gone. Corey Davis shouldn't be but as it stands right now he isn't exactly a value pick at 16.

Ok. The man is freakish though!

Best part is how everyone who is running the organization is putting everything down and setting the record straight.

Also like how no one is excusing Flacco for his play while also acknowledging that there were other factors in play for all of their offensive woes. Like a logical person should.

Don't tell Mike Preston that though... <_<

They have to find a way. If Seattle can keep thier star players so can we.  They need to manange their cap because If they actually gonna trade a 24 year old upcoming LB for a 2nd rounder then that's mess up. They can't keep letting players go when they develop all the time and let rookies replace them. I understand they can't keep all but it almost a tradition. Once rookies contract expires you gotta go. Poor management if they can't pay the players they want to keep.

I hear this is misconception all the time. Seattle has decided to keep their defense together because it is proven great enough to win a SB. And still have lost Irvin, Browner, Mebane, Maxwell to note. Otherwise they suffer on offense losing Golden Tate and 3 OL in recent years (Unger via trade, Okung and Sweezy).
They only spend $6.26 mil against the cap on the OL!!
They rank 5th in defensive spending and 30th in offensive spending.

Not during the second half of the season... He tapered off big time.

Still , a 1000 yard season is a great accomplishment.

Agree on both statements. While I think an efficient route runner and chain moving WR along side Perriman sounds better than Wallace and Perriman... It is possible that a significantly improved run game would eliminate the constant 2 high safeties look we got all season long and we could see more of a deep threat Wallace next season?

So, why did we fire Billick after one bad season with no QB? After all, he just came off a 13-3 season the year before. We've exhausted every excuse in the book in trying to justify the prevailing suckitude...if we want continuity in mediocrity, sure we better stick with Harbaugh and his coaching staff. The result will be the same; 7-9 here we come again!

NB: Those of us criticizing the decision makers are not doing so because it's fun or because we are any less fans of the team as compared to those who choose to bury their heads in sand. We are frustrated because we care, and want to see the team we root for excel. Spare me the lack of loyalty mumbo jumbo.

Billick wasn't fired after one bad season. He had a losing record 3/4 years when Biscotti became majority owner and the 2007 season was extremely disappointing. More importantly though, Billick was tied to Kyle Boller and that time was over. 2008 meant new coach new QB.

I agree with Biscotti, this year was not the year to start firing people. The 2017 season is make or break

I just have an issue moving someone to RT that has never played it.  If Wagner costs us say 6.5, why would you rather put a new player at RT then bring in another  to play guard when we could of just kept Wagner and Lewis at their respected positions?

Yea just for arguments sake you could say that 2 above average guards significantly improve the OL rather than at RG and RT. ex. 2012 and 2014 had two very good guards and young average RTs. And before those seasons it was Grubbs and Yanda as above avg guards.

( this assuming the FA guard is better than Lewis and Lewis can play RT)

Have the Ravens every had a RT worth significant money? I know Oher viewed himself as a LT and wanted to be paid like one so he wasn't gonna be paid here. I thought maybe Jah Ried could develop but no, I think the best RT we've had other than Wagner was Marshal Yanda. I can't think of anyone else.

Could be as easy as that, never had the opportunity to pay a RT who was worth it

  16. here's a thought... If Lewis can actually play RT, then paying a guard in FA 5-6m/yr might not be a bad idea.?? Would mean we have a similar OL to the 2012 and 2014 teams.

2012 - Mckinney, Osemele, birk, Yanda, Oher
2014- monroe, osemele, zuttah, yanda, Wagner
2017- Stanley, FA guard, zuttah, yanda, Lewis.

I see all 3 as very similar. FA guard should be as good or better than 2012 Osemele, but lesser than 2014 Osemele. RT, C, LG, LT would all be identical.

Maybe I'm the crazy one, but I'd have 0 problems paying Wagner $6.4M a year.  That's more than worth it for a guy that's been as good as he has, lisfranc injury year withstanding.

I'd be ok with it as well (I think everyone wants an above avg OL), but has the FO ever paid a RT significant money?

Btw Garçon apparently wants more than or the same as what he got this year so we're talking around or north of $7.5M.

I also really like the idea of signing Kendall Wright. I may be alone but I liked him coming out and while he never did anything I would sign him on a cheap prove it deal.

Based on free agent WRs last year I could see him getting 7m/yr. his age is against him.

Also liked Kendall Wright but his decline is really concerning

I agree. In that sense, the true problem is that with a salary cap of about $150 million, almost all teams are being forced to spend 15% of it on one player! Add to that the fact that injuries usually destroy another 10-20% of the salary cap, and it's an almost impossible task to keep a team together.

Yup. Suggesting this cap keeps parity in the league is just a talking point. It can easily be raised to 200 and maintain parity
