Poor codizzle... Kinda inherited a rough pick :/
Lol @ mariota
IMO he'll be better than Winston
Very well putA lot to like and a lot to improve is how I'd put it. Has all the raw talent needed though.
It's okay. I didn't need to sleep tonight anyway...or even better:
Agreed. Kap at 22 is a steal. Good value pickKaepernick is definitely an intriguing player. At this point I would take him as well. I just wish a QB like him was available at #22 when I selected there 2 years ago or at #23 last year.
Well, Purplecity has until about noon EST to pick...
Romo a complete steal this late. His one big concern for me being the back.
Exactly. You just can't trust him to take a big hit without wondering if he'll get up...
He did next to nothing to win it.
Yeah, throwing 18/25 for 206 yards and 2 TDs on the national stage to lead his team to a 43-8 victory is next to nothing... Not sold
You can select a coach but counts as a normal pick. It's also likely that few people would want to continue beyond 26/7 and build more complete rosters.
What if we added a 27th round and required a head coach be chosen?
I really have no idea
That. Face. Is. Priceless.
*marshawn and his defense win big games. Russell throws them away (see SB and Green Bay)
Okay yes the Green Bay game was rough. Very rough. But the Super Bowl was not his fault. That pass was perfectly thrown, and that was a good read. At the moment he threw that ball, Lockette was wide open. That was just a ridiculous break on the ball by that rookie corner (his name escapes me)... I would not make that loss his fault. That one is on the coaching staff, plus just a damn good job by the CB.
One has the Legion of Boom and the best RB in the NFL(unless AP gets his form back), the other has a [crap] defense and no line or running game to go off of. I don't think Ryan is great in the postseason and it went back to college as well but the guy is a good QB
I would agree with you. But in my opinion, I'll take a proven postseason winner like Wilson or Flacco over a mid season wonder guy
I understand. Our definition of clutch is skewed because Flacco turns into superman in January. He is the ultimate definition of clutch. Russell Wilson my not be perfect like Flacco, but he is a proven winner. He wins the big games...that's my definition of clutch. I could honestly come up with a list of 5 good QB's who don't keep a cool head in big games. Wilson keeps his chill and usually comes out on top. I like thatI'm not sure I'd entirely agree with that, but that's just me.
Mostly, Wilson is just overrated as a QB. He is a limited player based off what he has shown so far in his NFL career. He makes plays with his feet, but is very dependent on a run game for the offense to work. He hasn't shown that he can consistently win as a pocket QB.
True, he hasn't completely, but I plan to shape the offense around him, playing by his rules, using his strengths. He is also a winner. The kid is clutch. So many more intangibles with Wilson than Ryan...
That's funny to you? Wilson is great at scrambling and making stuff happen outside of pocket. In the pocket he is not a good QB. He misses so many plays because he doesn't see the field well and looks to scramble instead of going through progressions.
Ryan is great in the pocket, but can do little oitside of it. His arm isn't amazing but he makes the necessary throws. His biggest issue is that he needs great protection to be at his best, not unlike Flacco in many ways.
Bottomline is this, in a good offense with quality OL and receivers, Ryan will do more to help your team wim than Wilson.
Hmmm.........yeah. Kiss Russell Wilsons Super Bowl ring.
I'm guessing I've got the same three guys in my top tier of players available. Not a bad year to be picking in the middle.
Seriously man... I kinda wish I was able to trade down ![]()
It's like 11am on Tuesday right now. It's in the ballpark of 16 hours ahead or something to that effect.
Haha that's awesome! How does tomorrow look? Is it a good day? ![]()
It was just an Oklahoma-Texas thing to see if it would wake ravensnick up. And I actually meant Brown - long morning and I haven't eaten yet.
How many hours are you behind Eastern time?
Agreed. Brees was a steal. Still has 2-3 years of good football left. Roethlisberger is pretty good too. But what will be interesting to watch is the QB slide. Will someone bite on the old guys? Or go with young blooded defenders?Major reaches so far imo are Quinn and Winston.
Best values Roethlisberger and Brees.
Well that is interesting
Yeah Winston went a lot earlier than I expected...
I agree he is a spectacular player, but he has not even hit his prime. His prime will be when he wins the big games. When he leads his team to the super bowl once or twice (note that I said "when", not "if") he will be widely respected as one of the best. But for now, I don't think he compares to Brady, Manning, or Brees. Flacco has an edge on him because of his playoff skill. His clutch factor is off the charts. But Luck has a very bright future, and had he been there at number 3, I would've taken him no doubt.1. He's asked to throw over 600 times, has one of the worst interior offensive lines in the NFL (if not the worst), and has no reliable running game or defense. Basically, he's asked to be the centerpiece of that offense. Remember 2013 Joe Flacco when he had a terrible line, no run game, and was asked to do just about everything? Andrew Luck's interception percentage last year was .4% higher than Flacco's. As for the fumbles, consider he is the most hit and sacked quarterback in the entire league since 2012. And honestly, it's not even close.
2. Numbers aren't everything, but he's a third year quarterback. I mean, what do you expect? And I'm pretty sure Luck set a rookie record in 2012 for most passing yardage.
3. Know what Joe Flacco's TD:INT ratio in years one through two and one through three were? 1:7 and 3:9 respectively. Yeah, Joe Flacco has been stellar lately, but it was hardly ever that way in his first three years. On the flip side, Luck has averaged 304 yards while Flacco only had 131 yards per game on average, yet he still had a 3:9 TD:INT. Not that Flacco got a Super Bowl in his first three years, which is a team effort so I wouldn't even use that as an argument.
4. Bill Bellichek is one of the greatest defensive minds this game has seen. Given how many holes there are in the Colts offense, it's not a terribly big surprise to see that he's been able to expose it. Hey, even Manning had trouble with the Patriots. Does anyone remember Flacco throwing for like 34 yards and an interception against the Patriots?
Something that people don't seem to realize is that in Luck's rookie season, he had a turnover rate of like 60% in terms of his roster. He gained 15 new players (including Luck) and lost 15. He also had a revamped coaching staff and lost his head coach during the season. His receiving corp consisted of three rookie wide receivers, a perennial disappointment in Donnie Avery, Reggie Wayne, and two rookie tight ends. His running game? His best back was rookie Vick Ballard. So, basically, the skill positions featured seven rookies. So, SEVEN of the most important positions on that offense were rookies. Let that sink in. He basically built that offense up.
And he wasn't like most rookies who get eased into the action, like a Rodgers or Phillip Rivers who get to sit for a while or even Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, or Russell Wilson who aren't asked to do too much. No, he was thrown right into the fire and asked to put that offense on his shoulders and carry that team. And what did he do? Just go for over 4,000 yards and lead his team to and 11-5 record and the playoffs after going 2-14 the year before.
Luck is truly one of the few quarterbacks who makes the players around him better and he is an elite quarterback.
And I know a lot of people like to give a pass to Flacco for working with Cameron and having a lot of new coordinators, but Luck had Arians (Cameron clone) and has had a new coordinator by year two.
Pick #8 is just too steep a price for him...He only went 17th last year off his 19 sack year
I find this Luck discussion interesting. I agree that all the elite guys of the past are fading away, and a new elite class is stepping up. Andrew Luck is the best of that new class, but I would not go far enough to call him elite just yet. He is stepping into that role, but he hasn't completely yet. He needs a little more time to be able to read the field like Tom Brady or Drew Brees.
If it makes you feel any better, we aren't projecting exclusively for a single season. I personally prefer to think of it as building a roster that will stick around for the next few years, so youth and upside aren't to be disregarded.
That's how I'm treating it. Makes it more fun that way. Those one year wonder fantasy football leagues kinda miss out because they don't draft for longevity. It's all about the short term stats these days...

Yeah I saw that. One heck of a steal... Who was your QB?
