Hahahaha well played...Yes, I believe this seemingly mindless pick deserves a little explanation on my part.
I know he has to play Miller twice a year, but quite frankly that may be in his best interest. He says he learned quite a bit in the Super Bowl against him, and I think he's using it as motivation to get better. Playing him twice a year forces Remmers to learn to stop Miller, or get destroyed. The benefit of being division opponents is the familiarity that comes with matching up against one guy multiple times a year. This cancels out the reason he failed so bad in the Super Bowl: facing off against the most dynamic edge rusher as a starter for the first time in his career on the worlds biggest stage. How many other quality tackles would have been reduced to a non-factor if put in that situation?
In my opinion, his future is much brighter than several other guys taken ahead of him. His run-blocking was solid all year. His pass blocking has to improve, yes. But he's in a good situation with an elite motivating coach, and he has solid pass-blocking interior guys beside him in Maurkice Pouncey and Brandon Brooks.
Overall, I'd say he's the best available guy at his position, and I think getting his butt handed to him on a silver platter by Vonn Miller in the Super Bowl will help propel him to a brighter future.
