Just now, RavensFanMania said:Very true. It's a tough mock to put together due to the talent available in the 1st round
If it were on talent alone, I'd have him going two overall and no later than four, but if teams are really that concerned that he won't hold up, he'll slide.
Just now, RavensFanMania said:I've heard that as well
So teams do take these very seriously. Myles Jack fell to the second round.
1 minute ago, RavensFanMania said:I'm aware, but don't have him dropping that far. That's why it's a mock.
We'll see come draft day, but I could see him falling far due to medicals.
Apparently some teams are taking John Ross off their boards entirely.
17 minutes ago, RavensFanMania said:Great mock, I have to say I have a lot similar. That being said, why do you believe Allen will fall to the Redskins
He's had shoulder surgery and apparently has bad arthritis in them or something more serious. Apparently it's a HUGE red flag to teams.
1 hour ago, GrimCoconut said:Not sure why this is getting hate. This is a pretty good mock draft. I like Humphrey and while there were others on the board I would've taken over Humphrey I still like the pick. Lawson is an injury concern but there's no denying him in the second and then Elfein is a HUGE get for me. I love that pick. Juju is okay not bad at all. I like what you did here
I think Elfein being pretty much a man blocker is going to drop him and that's okay for me 100%. I think he can step in day one and excel in a man scheme and be a great pro. I'm not sure he'll be elite ever, but he's going to be a 10 year starter and that's a great get. Even if he's just average, that's huge in the third.
I think Lawson is better than Barnett if he can stay healthy, which might be why I don't want Barnett in the first. I see Lawson as being what Upshaw should have been. Absolute man strength and hand fighting and excellent burst and explosion to get to the quarterback. Just a bit tight hipped and not the most agile, but if he gets a line to the quarterback, it's game over.
Who would you take over Humphrey?
3 hours ago, Edgar said:If we take a corner that high, I'd have to be able to trust him in man. I'm not comfortable with Humphrey.
He bites on double moves from guys I've never heard of. Gets panicky when someone gets a step, doesn't turn to find ball and has poor awareness.
You often see him lose right off the line to quick receivers. His limitations in man are covered at times by Alabama's ability to get to the quarterback....I see him beat but quarterback is running for his life.
I do see his potential and I love his physicality but don't get him that early.
I would never say he has poor awareness. He's got some of the best awareness and route recognition in the draft. I think the biggest issue for me is he's so quick to open his hips and turn to run because he doesn't turn his head and play the ball well. Keep the play in front and let him see the ball and he's great.
Know another corner who struggled when the play got behind him and bit on double moves? Jimmy Smith.
I see the massive potential and scheme fit and I love him here.
2 hours ago, JO_75 said:I like next year's QB class better and would wait on Darnold or Josh Rosen. Though Darnold may take the Luck route and stay for his degree and wait for 2019. Though I guess it would be a Browns thing to do and take quarterbacks in bad years opposed to taking them in the years quarterbacks are actually good.
That assumes they get one overall for Rosen.
33 minutes ago, ellicottraven said:The critique of Derek Barnett is eerily similar to that of Terrell Suggs. Not saying Barnett is Suggs, but he is a stud who plays hard whistle to whistle. He's not dropping to 31 period.
Suggs tested poorly but was monstrous on the field with his athletics. Not comparable
I don't know who these Orioles are, but their ability to get strong starts from Miley, Baldy, Asher, and Aquino is non Oriole like.
4 minutes ago, Edgar said:It wouldn't surprise me if The Ravens took Cam. Certainly see it as greater than a zero chance.
I would say I'm not as high on Barnett as most everyone else seems to be but I don't see him falling to the end of round one.
Reddick would definitely be my first choice in this scenario.
How do you imagine Humphrey being used year one?
I think Humphrey is a perfect fit for the Tampa 2 and Cover 3 that the Ravens use. Great route recognition, decent enough hips to break on balls, great length and speed; just panics with his head turned. Put him in a position where he can work his man to the sideline and keep the play in front of him and I think he'll do well. He won't make it out of round one with Seattle and I fully expect him to go much higher.
I just can't see the Ravens going day one OT. Apparently the Ravens are high on Wesley and they have Lewis as a dark-horse out at RT. It's not that I think Cam is a bad prospect. I actually think he's better than most people give him credit for. It's just that I don't think the Ravens would pass over a CB, WR, or OLB for an OT.
I think that with Barnett, he's probably in the early 20's for me as a prospect, but when I did this, the needs of teams just kind of had him being passed over. Of the teams that I had passing over him, I would have said Giants, Cowboys, Packers, and Steelers.
With Reddick, I love the player. I think he's going to be one of the better players to come out of this draft. I just think he fits better in the 4-3 as an OLB. I'm not sure his best fit is 3-4 OLB and I see little value in taking a second ILB.
10 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:While I don't personally like him a ton I think Moton is more likely to go 2nd round than he is to last past the 3rd let alone all the way to the 5th.
I like Humphrey but can't see us passing on Barnett or Allen especially to go with Humphrey.
Wouldnt be surprised if we had
Humphrey as the top CB on our board but I have a bunch that both Allen and Barnett are top 5-7 guys on our board. Only way we'd pass on Allen there is if we took him off the board completely for medical reasons.
And to go a step further.... no way Wilson is the 2nd CB off the board. All I've heard is that he's fallen to the 2nd round and a lot of teams project him more to S. In this scenario Philly would almost definitely take Conley or Humphrey imo.
But to each his own. I doubt Humphrey is there when we pick and even if he was I can't see any way we'd take him with the other players on the board -- so wouldn't be happy if this happened.... but the 2nd and 3rd rd picks I like a lot. A lot.
So after Friday I'd ease up on not liking the first round pick seeing who we were able to get day 2.
Moton is pretty much pegged into strictly a man blocking scheme and even then, he has to have major improvement to his footwork. He isn't quick and will give up the edge pretty easily. He's also slow to actually get out his punch, so he's just got to get quicker and faster before he's ready to start. I see no way a team takes him in the second.
Apparently dating back to the Senior Bowl, the Ravens had been raving about Humphrey and showing vast interest. Of course, this was before signing Carr, but that won't stop the Ravens from drafting a corner. Humphrey is an excellent fit for the Tampa 2 and Cover 3, both staples of the Dean Pees defense. He's a scheme fit, a fit from a need perspective, and a first round talent from Ozzie's alma mater where he has connections. He's fully who I expect to be the pick (barring someone like Mike Williams being there).
I think Barnett might be the most overrated prospect on these boards. You can find my thoughts on him all over the place. I'll fully support it if he's the pick, but he's far from my top choice. I also think you can get better value with a Lawson (second) or Tim Williams (third) than taking Barnett at 16. With Allen, those shoulders are apparently turning in major red flags. I don't think he comes even close to the Ravens if they check out, but if he begins to slide into the teens, I think he falls past the Ravens because that's a big red flag to how bad those shoulders are.
I think Wilson is one of the top DB's in the class and I fully expect him to be a starter because of his vastly advanced ability to excel in press. He just lacks the long speed, but there's going to be a team that will value his technique over his athleticism (Seattle anyone?) and I'd bet money he goes in the first.
14 minutes ago, Edgar said:I like Peterman. I think he goes earlier but, you could be right.
I don't hate Humphrey, just would flip if we took him over Davis, Reddick, Jonathan Allen, Barnett, Robinson, Bolles, Cook......
Humphrey to me is more of a late one, early two pick to me.
I am not the biggest fan of Davis. I think he's going to have a rough transition to the actual competition of the NFL. He was in a conference where he was bigger, faster, and stronger than most people he played against. I think he only went over 100 yards two times in the seven times he played power five conference teams.
I like Reddick, but see no value in taking another ILB in the first. The Ravens churn out UDFA's like there's no tomorrow.
Allen has major shoulder issues, apparently, and I think he's in for a big draft day slide.
I see zero chance of the Ravens taking another OT in the first.
Cook has a DV in his past and the Ravens have said they won't consider that.
Not a fan of Barnett like most here. He lacks lateral agility, good bend, burst, and explosion. That isn't a good recipe to be an NFL edge rusher.
12 minutes ago, BMORE21 said:IMO Browns should go defense first 3 picks. Garret at 1,barnett/foster at 12 and maybe baker/jones with their 1st 2nd...for now just get you a qb that fits your scheme. In browns position, i feel like its better to wait till the team are QB away from competing.
This wasn't a case of what I think the Browns SHOULD do. This is fully what I expect them TO DO.
Plus, I think the Browns are building an excellent core. They still have missing pieces, but they're really working toward being a good team.
I don't think they'll get the first overall pick next year to land Rosen otherwise they'd wait.
4 minutes ago, Edgar said:If we take Humphrey at 16 I am officially "sunsetting" my posts approximately one week after the draft.
Not to mention the guys you still have available.
2 like Lawson
It would surprise if petermen gets too far beyond round two.... I do like the player and would consider him earlier.........and Moton where you have seems unrealistic.
I appreciate you going at your mock from a different perspective than most but can't get on board with Humphrey there.
Peterman, from what I've heard, is being viewed in a similar light as Prescott as a later round guy capable of starting early. I think he and Kaaya are both forgotten in the shuffle.
I really don't understand the hate for Humphrey.
54 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Well other than the barnett plummit. What makes you think juju falls to round 3?
I think there's a chance we see only two receivers go in the first (Ross is iffy for me) and after the established top five (Williams, Davis, Ross, Kupp, Jones), the rankings become fluid.
I think in a game where speed is so enamored with, JJSS is going to be overlooked because he won't be a deep threat and really isn't great when given the chance to go deep and he doesn't separate easily.
1 minute ago, SepticeyePoe said:I'm curious why you have Barnett falling to 31.
I'm of the mindset that he's very refined and going to be a great pro, but he just lacks the elite athletic traits to make me think he could actually be an elite DE.

Greatest post I have ever seen on the boards.
12 minutes ago, rmw10 said:For what it's worth, I share a similar opinion. I'm not 100% sold on him, but I have a really hard time believing the Ravens would pass him up if available, which is why I mocked him.
I think Marlon Humphrey is a real darkhorse for the Ravens.
1 minute ago, rmw10 said:Yeah I considered pretty much all of that, but what's the fun in being just like everyone else? I always try to go a little different. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure this will be completely different on actual draft day.
Just reporting what I'm hearing.
I can't decide whether I'd be happy to have Barnett or really pretty meh. Like, I fully expect him to be a really good pro; I just don't see that elite pro
Couple notes-
First, I think the consensus, at the moment, is that the Bears will go DB first. Whether that's Lattimore, Humphrey, Wilson, Adams, or Hooker, I think they're pretty locked into a DB.
Been hearing a lot of buzz lately that the Browns will look to trade up to the sixth overall spot to secure Trubisky.
Allen apparently has some BAD shoulders and the thought right now is he'll slide.
Just a note on trading Jernigan and getting a return now vs getting it two years from now in a later round-
This is being praised as one of the top DB classes ever by some scouts. Getting another very high third in a loaded DB class (Ravens and DB issues have been going on for a while), so that's a huge deal.
Apparently one team found Kevin King to have seventh round film, but first round size, weight, speed.
1. Mike Williams
2. Tre White
3. Tim Williams (yes, I think the off the field could knock him this far)
3. Pat Elfein
in 2017 NFL Draft

Bears are apparently locked into a secondary player.
