Man I was so happy watching Kubiak speak. A class act all the way. I am proud of Harbaugh too! He finally did what was right for the team! Who cares how it got done, but it got done finally! My only concern is why wasn't Shanahan part of the team that was brought in? Is he still out there being considered as a RB coach? I would love to get him on board as well...

Reports are that he won't join us, but Adam Schefter was reporting that Hostler may be gone. If he is, that would be an opening for Kyle.

We just don't know at this point. Kubiak wasn't even supposed to be in consideration for the job, but he all of a sudden emerged as the front runner this morning. Things just kinda happen and it's a possibility that if he doesn't land an OC, like in Cleveland or Tennessee, that he could be picked up on the Ravens staff.

  2. since when are we looking for a new Receiver coach? that was only gonna be an issue if Hostler got promoted. he's wont be now, and i doubt after spending two weeks thinking about promoting him we're just going to randomly decide to fire him.

After only hearing about Hostler and Shanahan for two weeks, we hire Kubiak and Dennison.

We just dumped Harman. Anything can happen

  3. Unless you're advocating he gets the OC job over Kubiak, I don't know if you can say we're letting him slip away. It just comes down to whether he wants that OC slot now with the Browns or later with us.

I'm advocating for Kyle at quarterback coach and Dennison at running back coach. Have the Browns interviewed him?

  4. Unless Hostler has another option, I think he stays. I don't think they'll fire him. He's got a family. I can't see him just deciding to quit or something unless he has another opportunity elsewhere. I don't see him being fired though. I suppose we'll all find out together in a few minutes!

I think the Ravens are committed to having Gary build his staff, so if he wants Kyle, he'll get Kyle

  5. So, does anyone thing Shanahan doesn't come on board? I know we have zero idea what the coaches discussed with him and whether they presented that he'd be the candidate to be the quarterback coach or not, but he could be upset about being one of two finalists only to be spurned last minute

  6. Are people just more excited about Kubiak because he has more experience than Shanahan (because they run virtually the same system) or is it the possible influx of talented coaches Kubiak will bring with him that truly has people giddy?

I'm excited about the talent. If Kubiak gets hired, Shanahan or Dennison is there. We'd have competent coaches for a long time and some great ideas swirling around. I'm too excited

  7. Yea, I don't think Castillo is going anywhere. He's a good coach and combining with Kubes might be a really great thing for our oline. I will say this, I don't know what type of system O'brien will run in Houston, but if the undersized Chris Myers doesn't fit, we might be able to trade for him and that would be a huge upgrade to our oline. Plus a great mentor for Gino and Jensen. The ZBS was a good move for this team and I'm glad we're going the direction of Kubes and his system.

I think he ran a quick strike offense similar to the west coast offense, so I don't know if Myers would be too small

  8. Well if Kubiak brings his own staff it should be fine. I think it's great because despite what so many say about Harbs be a control freak, he actually wants to deligate control to his coaches and just be the guy that brings everything together as the HC. So Harbs should and probably will just step back and allow Kubes to do his thing.

I never got people who said that. Harbs has zero experience on the offensive side of the ball. Why would he want control over it?

  9. Thanks for the tip, but I'll post as I see fit.

I doubt friction between him and Kubiak would drive him out, but there is a chance someone will throw funny money at him. Calling him "marginal" is silly and a thought best suited for the Fantasy boards.

I doubt friction would drive him out since Kubiak doesn't sign the players and is just the offensive coordinator, but he is best for as a number three receiver (something Marlon Brown is doing for far cheaper) and a returner, something they're looking at Denote Thompson for. Remember, Thompson got the nod over Jones at kick returner to start the season.

I want Kubiak even if Jones is gone.

  10. "@MikePrestonSun: Kubiak trying to put together offensive staff before he takes Ravens job. Members of old staff are in trouble."

This coming after Castillo was openly promoted to OL coach? Is Kubes a Harbs move or a Stevie B move?

I don't get why Castillo would be fired. All three coaches, who would likely be brought in together, are huge advocates for the ZBS. Castillo wants the ZBS. It just makes sense.

  11. Where do you get your info?  I hadn't heard that he wanted "a larger contract"?  ;)

    Marginal talent?  haha

The majority of players will follow the money. He's likely to do that after a revival here in Baltimore.

He is a marginal talent, but this is about the coaches, not Jacoby. Take that to the Jacoby thread.

  12. Great news. I love that system. We've already had success with Leach and Jacoby coming from the Texans, so let's really make them hurt with this Houston connection. This would be a great hire because all 3 of these guys are familir with the same system. This offense takes off and one of these guys will get a HC job next year, but we'll still have in house options to replace them.

I love it and once again the media was wrong. I don't know why I find so much pleasure in the media being wrong lately, but I do lol. At the Senior Bowl Hoss was supposed to be the front runner, then Shanahan and Hoss were the top 2 guys, now Kubes and Dennison look to be the top guys with "sealth" meeting. I've said before when sources said Hoss would be the guy, the Ravens hold secrets better then the CIA, we won't know anything until they want us to.

In all fairness, Dennison was never a favorite. He was brought in with Kubiak, likely because Kubiak will only sign if Dennison is signed as well. Given the string interest in Shanahan, I doubt we don't see him here as well.

    The trifecta

I must say, all the people who want Juan Castillo gone confuse me a little. He wants the ZBS and all of these new coaches we should higher do, too. We'd have a coaching staff built totally around the ZBS and it would likely sure up any problems from last year.

  13. Gary Kubiak as the offensive coordinator? I always liked what the Texans did, outside of this year.

Rick Dennison as running backs coach/assistant offensive line coach? He worked under Alex Gibbs and knows how to do the ZBS.

Kyle Shanahan for quarterbacks coach? We saw how much he got out of RGIII and Matt Schaub.

    This must be a dream.

The only qualm I have is I hear Kubiak is hard headed with in game adjustments. Anyone verify this?

Both of them on staff would be great. You want as many coaches who are familir with the same system as possible. With the disconnect we've seemed to have with offensive coaches that would be a good move. Don't like Dennison at QB coach though. Definitely want Kyle as OC, maybe Dennison at RB coach or "Run Game Coordinator" if that is actually a position lol. But both guys would be great seeing as how one might actually get a HC job next year.

I just feel like if he was the guy then they wouldn't feel the need to hold all these interviews.

I do want Kyle as the offensive coordinator, and I do want Dennison to be involved in some way with the offensive line/running game, but that still leaves the question of who would be the quarterbacks coach? I think they most definitely need one.

I think they gave him every chance to win the job, and a last minute interview like this shows he did not win it.
