  1. It's so common for DBs to play the man and not the ball on deep passes. Most of these top guys are press specialists who get grabby deep. He's far from the only one.
  2. I love how people talk about him not turning his head as if it's not coachable. That's a very rare quality for young corners to have. It's very learned.
  3. Not gonna lie, you're as bad as Sami with overreactions
  4. Apparently the 49ers were very enamored with this player to the point that they would have taken him much earlier in trade back scenarios, so it works to get him at 31.
  5. I remember watching a lot of games later in the season and I'd notice that the Ravens would press the lesser skilled receivers and give too much respect to receivers that are considered top tier (this was without Jimmy). Like, Wright/Young would press an Eli Rogers or a Hawkins, but would lay off of Brown or Pryor. I think Humphrey and Carr both bring a mentality of never backing down.
  6. I think Humphrey can play off man. He's got to clean up his footwork and plant and drive a little bit and stop opening his hips so quickly, but he's got excellent route recognition to understand what's going to be coming. He actually masks some of the plant and drive issues by being so smart to understand what the receiver wants to do. Prototypical press corner. Excellent length and speed to press and recover if beaten. He's going to excel in zones where he doesn't have to turn his head too much early. Let him see the play develop, digest the route, and use his length to disrupt the play. I expect a lot of Tampa 2 and Cover 3 this year with press being the primary look being shown on the outside. The Tampa 2 requires excellent tackling corners and you now have three in Jimmy, Young, and one that can hit like a truck in Humphrey.
  7. I've seen him called the best corner within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and I'd agree. Excellent height/weight/speed/length to be a physical press man corner that can blow up screens and outside runs. And he's the best run defending corner in the draft, bar none. He's very aggressive and can hit like a truck. He recognizes and digests routes well. He makes pretty good breaks on the balls, but will get much better with better footwork. He struggles on deep balls. He'll flip his hips too early to defend the deep ball and bites on double moves. Average ball production that should spike with better footwork. Does not turn his head enough at the moment.
  8. See my above. A pre-draft visit weighs even less than the combine and pro day and those should make up under 15% of the evaluation process.
  9. Let's put it this way... A pre-draft visit is for answering questions. If you have none, why use one of your visits on a player with no questions that need to be answered?
  10. I think he's got a little lack of confidence in his deep ball skills. He'll get there.
  11. It will have ZERO to do with a pre draft visit...
  12. You can do that without having him in for a private visit... You know, by knowing the entire Alabama coaching staff...
  13. He's got plenty fluid hips. Actually did really well in the three cone for what you'd expect. He just flips his hips too early to give himself a cushion to protect against the deep ball.
  14. I don't even think he was worth it at 16, personally.
  15. Why not?
  16. Which pass rusher do you take at 16, though? I thought Harris was up there in rankings, but past that, you'd be banking on the potential of Charlton.
  17. People are pissed because they heard he has stiff hips and ate it up like a buffet.
  18. Yeah, of the available players...
  19. I think he's one that will struggle with PI on deep balls early, but as soon as he learns to turn and locate the ball and play his man confidently, he'll be a menace.
  20. I think in terms of being a height, weight, speed specimen that doesn't turn his head. Past that, I don't really see it.
  21. With the age and leveled off talent of Carr, I'd be shocked to see this be the case. Jimmy is willing to take a pay cut to help the team and if the team needs cap room, I imagine he'd be open to helping.
  22. I am beyond excited. Humphrey fits like a glove in this defense. I have so much hope that he'll be an excellent pro for so many years to come. I called this one.
  23. I thought Stanley would be great, but was meh because it wasn't Ramsey or Elliot. For this pick, I am beyond ecstatic.
  24. I think it has a lot more to do with Carr being essentially a series of one year deals...
  25. I'm looking for Carl Lawson right now, but Humphrey has me so hyped up. I had no idea about this contest, but Humphrey would have been my pick, not that I think I would have won that $10k, anyway. I'm never lucky. I think if Jimmy goes down, you finally have viable depth on the outside. If Carr doesn't pan out, you have viable depth. If you just want to go into a heavy rotation, you have the guys now. This is an awesome pick and one that will look better down the road.
