  1. I doubt the steelers would allow that to happen. Their front office likes him a lot. They wouldn't block a promotion to OC, but they would defiantly block a lateral move like that. I think they want somebody on staff to take over incase there is mutiny on Haley.

Kirby Wilson  to the Vikings http://profootballta...rs-for-vikings/ . it doesn't specify what his position will be just says  a position coach .

  2. There were no problems when Kyle was in Houston I searched and googled it . I think Mike Shanahan was the issue in Washington. I stated in the forum thread I think the problem was working with his father. and after watching that  press conference i'm more convinced when does an OC not decided which personnel is on the field even quarterback. I will support whatever decision is made . Kirby is out that leaves Kyle and Jim may the best applicant get the job.

  3. I think this is just further proof that Dilfer sustained too many concussions during his career. Then again, I like to think Frank Gore's opinion of Hostler speaks a higher volume than that of journeyman QB (who just filled-in for an injured Alex Smith during that one year working with Jim Hostler).

I started to type the same thing lol. Dilfer despises the ravens anything he says is suspect .

  4. Of the three choices Shanahan has proven success so most people are going to gravitate towards that. Hostler had a bad stint in San Fran and Kirby is an unknown . Even checking the steelers forums most of the articles were positive or about his injury return etc,,and the fans seem to like him allot and he is successful in his capacity as a rb coach. Prior to his injury he was inline to become the Oc for the steelers but they hired Haley while he was recovering. I personally like safe choices especially after what happened last year .The interesting part to me is most of the complaints about Kyle are coming from the redskins, I would be curious to find out if he had problems in texas as well or did he just not work well with his father , I know I would kill mine within a week .

  5. I really don't understand what the wait is for... If the team want an attacking type offense, then Shanahan is the guy. I mean he can scheme to his players strengths and he's one of the best play callers in the league.

Here's a article on Shanahans system...

    http://httr24-7.com/blog/a-crash-course-in-the-pistol-formation-west-coast-offense-and-rg3-as-a-passer/

Our offense would be unstoppable if we ran this system. Motioning and shifting guys to help the QB read the defense better. Option routes by the receivers, Pistol formation, west coast route tree, mix in with a little bit of air coyell. Not to mention Kyle is arguably one of the best play callers in the game.

Thanks for sharing the article it was easy to read and explained allot.I agree with you I just wish they would hurry up and make a choice ,, Shanahan!

  6. You completely missed the point and I don't even know what this reply is referring to! Harbaugh told the reporter that the staff is not set and he published it. Fact.

I'm done trying to convince you that your rhetoric is flawed.

Anyway! If we're going to discuss intelligently, Harbs implied that the offensive staff could be influenced after the OC is hired. Does anyone think Shanahan might try and bring his own assistants in? Based on some reports, I think he might. Some report said he liked to surround himself with his guys

the only point is this since you won't let it rest

You claimed harbaugh said the OC could pick his own staff , that was not true or close to being accurate .

I repeated what Harbaugh said in two press conferences both of which are posted on this site.

     to back up my statements

its not rhetoric it's the truth and its fact. if anyone discuss's this INTELLIGENTLY you have to discuss facts not make up things as you go along. so if you want to stick to facts then lets do that if not move along cause I am not interested.

  7. But it didn't come directly from Harbaugh's mouth. you didn't hear it straight from him!

Oh? But you believe the reporters when they say something you want to hear? Okay then...

he said it in the press conference with ozzie and also at the end of the year when he defended him right from his mouth im moving on . fail again. :deadhorse:

  8. There are no direct quotes from Harbaugh saying that we interviewed Kyle Shanahan either, just pointing that out..... You gotta trust reporters to do their job

Based on your logic we didn't interview anyone for the OC position yet.

this is your made up nonsense not once did I say anything like this or come close to it . as for kyle shanahan it was reported by every single reputable news outlet dealing with sports, on nfl network , espn and also reported on by the sunpaper. <edit>

  9. When have I been wrong before? Lol... doesn't happen often, so you'll have to refresh my memory.

And I'm just saying that the official website reporter interviewed Harbaugh himself and reported on what he said. That's what reporters do, after all. They report. What would he gain from making this up?

and when they do an interview  they quote the person they are interviewing . there are no quotes from Harbaugh stating the new OC can build his own team. I proved my point and my sources are factual.

  10.

I think that's the way it is, and my guess is Harbaugh wants a guy like Shanahan who likes the ZBS to begin.

I like Shanahan too the end part of last season we were making progress with zbs  it will be fun to see where that goes and how successful we are IF he gets the job . He's young creative and has a history of success even with the dysfunction of the redskins last season that offense wasn't dismal .  .

  11. Lmao, he interviewed Harbaugh and wrote an article. That's what journalists do. So, do you make up how people do their job now? :D

For some reason, I'm inclined to think that the sports journalist for the official team website wouldn't just make something up about what the coach said... But that doesn't fit your agenda, so believe what you want.

like I said I have heard it from the horses mouth not interested in anything that harbaugh hasn't said or been quoted as saying. I'm inclined to go with what Harbaugh said himself and no one including yourself has proven otherwise. maybe you should check your sources not my fault you are wrong once again . my sources are impeccable .

  12. OCs don't typically build a coaching staff anyway. You guys are putting far too much into the Castillo is Harbs buddy thing. In case you guys forgot every DC we've had since Harbs were put in place with position coaches already in place. They didn't "build" a staff, now this situation will be a bit different but not much. You keep good coaches in place, that's just what you do. Wade Herman as our TE coach even after Billick was fire, as was CB because they were good coaches. Castillo is being kept because he's a good coach. OCs generally only suggest the hire of lower level coaches like assistant oline coach, or offensive assistant and things like that. The OL, QB, TE and WR coach is generally selected by the HC not the OC.

So the talk about building around Castillo is kind of moot, the OC will have to build his offense around a philosphy that the Ravens already have in place and if they can't do so then they won't be considered. This is probably why Linehan isn't getting a 2nd interview. His views probably didn't match the philosphy the Ravens are looking for.

I didn't base my opinion on the whole buddy thins with Castillo just what harbaugh has said in two recent pressors. I have said I thought what Castillo was doing toward the end of last season was starting to bear fruit and I was jumping on that support train until Joe was on the ground clutching his leg and I researched  his tenure in philly and I'm just not sold on him. But he will be moot if we get a good strong OC who will implement what he wants the offense to be .

  13.

I don't think he's ok with mediocrity. I think he's OK with Castillo, who was mediocre last year. If Castillo doesn't perform this year, I think he's gone too.

I doubt he has a choice if we repeat last season Harbaugh will have to fire him  . I agree with everything you have said.

  14. "The final decision on hiring a quarterbacks coach will be made once the Ravens decide on an offensive coordinator and then build an offensive staff that best fits the group."

    http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/John-Harbaugh-Names-Four-Offensive-Coordinator-Candidates/77e00716-8cad-4ae6-a1cb-8b94da757191

That implies to me that the offensive staff is not guaranteed at the moment

1: How is changing his title from run game coordinator to offensive line coach a promotion? It's not, lol. Harbaugh literally said he would do all the same things he did last year.......

    2. If you think Harbaugh is okay with mediocrity then you are very sadly mistaken.

that's not a direct quote from harbaugh that's downing's narrative you quoted.  I heard right from Harbaughs mouth who the oline coach is and nothing has been said to rescind that . so my opinion  is not baseless in fact its the truth  in two separate speeches Harbaugh has stated the same thing.

    1

  15. Yeah, except Harbs said that the OC can build his own staff.... I mean, the proof is in the pudding here...

Smh this is just unfounded and baseless. Lol!

first off I found no link to harbaugh saying that the Oc can build his own team .

my opinion is based on fact I don't make it up as I go . harbaugh has said repeatedly  Castillo is our oline coach and he is staying . and I have multiple links in support of that.

  16. He more recently said that the new OC can build has own staff.

When he said Castillo would be here next season, Caldwell was still the OC... So...

Castillo isn't going anywhere that much I am certain Castillo is an offensive minded coach so if he stays its for offense . Regardless of who eventually lands the job Castillo's not going anywhere that choice was made before this search even started.

  17.

Harbaugh also did say that the coaching staff of the offense would be built around the offensive coordinator, no?

yes so which is it . Castillo stays as oline coach or the new Oc picks his own staff. My bet is Castillo stays regardless what the new Oc wants . I think the Oc can pick whom he wants as long as he doesn't touch Castillo.

  18. Never in my life have I heard a team building their offense around an OL coach until now. Clearly Juan has something on John.

and your correct , John said it in his news conference  the only thing for certain is that Castillo is the line coach. I took that to mean no matter who they chose for oc that guy is stuck with Castillo .In all the threads its odd no one mentioned it until you did I thought I had heard wrong and listened again , neither of us heard wrong .no one does that what happens if the new OC doesn't like him etc etc....

  19. we have seen his playbook the last 2 seasons go back and look at when he was a offensive coordinator that season in san Francisco they had the last ranked offensive attack frank gore had his worse year ever

I understand but this is just a rumor .I wanted an unknown someone with something to prove. If he is chosen then we are stuck no mater how much it upsets us . I wanted Shanahan I thought he would be perfect for Joe and the entire offense. I just think we should wait and see before we get all worked up.
