  1. Everyone please calm down and read this: As an AFC North team, defense needs to come first, it just works that way. I'm about to go full honest here, I didn't think our defense was that good last year. The defensive woes were just covered up by the superiorly horrible offensive woes. Let's take a look at what the Front office has done this offseason, based on Ozzie's 3 big keys to the offseason: They added a playmaking yards after the catch guy in Steve Smith, they bulked up the interior of the offensive line with the Jeremy Zuttah trade (also locked up Eugene Monroe), they added a center-fielder in Terrence Brooks today, and they also added a playmaking tight end in Owen Daniels.

The past two days they have done nothing but make our defense a strong dangerous force. Timmy Jernigan was supposed to be a first rounder, CJ Mosely is a leader and is known as a "quarterback of the defense" a face of a franchise who as a three down linebacker will make a big impact from the start. Crocket Gillmore can catch the ball if you watch his highlights, but he's also kind of like an offensive lineman as he can make big blocks and open up spaces on the field. I am not, and i repeat not comparing him to Jimmy Graham, just stating that they are the same size basically and I really believe this guy can develop into a star.

Now a name I feel a lot of people have forgotten is Kyle Juscyk who is going to have a breakout season as a guy coming out from the backfield. Now tomorrow, the front office will look to add an offensive guard, a running back, a wide receiver, and a corner with our last four picks (backup qb can be found via free agency at this stage) and they will also most likely look to lock down our offensive line with the signing of Eric Winston who is more than capable of being the starting right tackle next season. Also, don't forget about the undrafted free agents, who as we can see with Marlon Brown last year, can truly make a difference for our team. Next season will be very exciting, and I hope this helps you guys see the clear picture the front office is sending us of an awesome playoff bound season this year.

  2. Depends on the signing bonus.  It gets structured over 5 years.  So let's say we give him a $20M signing bonus.  Each year for 5 years would count $4M against the cap.  Then, you have to factor in base salary, which there is no set way to determine.  We'd most likely backload though, so it would probably be $1M or so, creating a $5M cap hit.

Thanks for the explanation! I just hope that by retaining Monroe at a high salary will still leave us with some space to sign some of our other free agents as well as outside help.

  3. The reason I feel like the Receiver Ozzie was talking about is not from the draft is because he said the team needs and will have a guy who can make those key 3rd and long catches and get the yards after the catch and, to me, that sounds like he is talking about someone who has proven themselves in the NFL level and not a draft prospect whose NFL ability is still up in the air until the season actually starts. Anyone else agree with this and think we are targeting a receiver in FA or possibly by trade? I was pretty sure he said THE receiver meaning he knew the exact player versus a kind of player. But I'm probably wrong about that part.

  4. I saw an article on NFL.com talking about how Danny Amendola of the Patriots could possibly be a cap casualty for them this year seeing as how Julian Edelman, who cost way less, produced way more for them and Amendola greatly failed to live up to the expectations his contract set for him as a Wes Welker type of player. I know it sounds stupid to ask this as he had a pretty bad season, but would anybody be up for signing him if he became a casualty? And can anyone explain to me how much money would the team acquiring have to pay of his last contract or would it only be the Patriots paying him the money from the previous contract? He showed some flashes but he is very inconsistent both on the field and health wise. If he can find a way to improve on staying healthy though, he could pay off with a more appropriate contract.

  5. WHY DOES JOHN HARBAUGH GET SO MUCH HATE ON HERE? Please someone tell me what I missed the last 6 years that shows you he's a bad coach. Yes we just had an 8-8 season but we had a lot of new guys on the team and one play here or there and we would've been in the playoffs, that to me says there were more problems with the personnel (OLINEMEN) than with the coaching. Everyone chill out, and just wait until the next season to be mad at Harbaugh. Besides in two weeks the season will be over for everyone and its the start of a new one where the Ravens will win the AFC North. Just watch.
