Brooks has looked good enough to earn more reps. Urban has been a major impact and still not getting very many reps.
Can't remember if I saw it on this website or somewhere else, but I thought I saw an article saying Urban got like 25 snaps against the Seahawks and only 12 or so against the Chiefs even though Chris Canty is on IR. I don't know if Harbs had some reasoning behind that but at least just from an outside observer, I don't see any good reason for reducing a guys snap count who seems like he's only done things to earn more time
My biggest issue with Osemele is he's another player who plays at a very high level, when he's actually playing. Since his rookie year he's missed 7 games his second year, 2 last year, and 2 so far this year. Even with the games he's missed, I feel like he's had nagging injuries more often than not. I think he's a great player and without taking into account the money to sign him and all that, Osemele makes me extremely nervous as another top end talent guy with injuries who the Ravens might sign to big time money, and the player only gets hurt. Obviously you can't anticipate big time injuries, but Jimmy and Webb and Pitta were all guys that the Ravens knew had injuries before. Also you can't anticipate guys without an injury history then getting hurt often (Monroe).
I'm not suggesting any hard and fast rule of never signing a player with top end talent who has had a major injury because there have obviously been plenty of players who have not been hurt again. It's just Osemele is another guy who sort of fits the potential script we've seen before of a high talent guy who's been hurt before, and then gets hurt again after a big contract.
The dead money coming off the books doesn't effect next years cap at all. The dead money was never on the books for the 2016 cap, so it has no effect on what we can do next year.
With that being said there are some things we can do to free up some cap space like restructuring/extending Joe's contract.
But resigning Tucker and possibly KO could eat up quite a bit of that.
I imagine that with reworking Joe's contract and other cap saving moves we'll be somewhere between $10-15 mill to sign Tucker, maybe KO, Aiken, Givens, other ERFA's and RFA's, and our draft picks.
With all that included you're probably only looking at $2-7mill tops to sign other FA's. If you want to shop for top tier FAs you're only getting 1 maybe 2 guys.
Did not realize that didn't make much of a difference, just looked and Ravens are only estimated to have about $5.5 million in cap space before any moves next season
I actually think the defense played pretty well. There was a lack of execution at times, but as a whole they played well enough to win. A dropped pick and/or stupid penalty short circuited the effort.
Agreed, giving up 22 points should be enough to win
I wonder if with a lot of dead money coming off the books and with the possibility of reworking Joe's deal if Ozzie actually splurges a little bit on a skill position. With the seemingly very high draft pick the Ravens will have, plus the number of picks they'll likely have, a very good draft and a couple higher end free agents could really put this team back to competing. Plus this might not be a bad year to do so, the Ravens top free agents for 2016 are (in no particular order):
Tucker, Upshaw, Osemele
Assuming we resign Tucker...that would only be a possibility of two comp picks anyway, so maybe Ozzie will let one of those potential comp picks go away and sign someone a little bigger named than his usual M.O.
I met Givens a few days ago. He seems very confident and excited for the opportunity. Hope Givens does well for us. Givens certainly feels he can do some great things for us
Went to school with him, great kid and was certainly a great receiver in the ACC. I'm really happy to see him get an opportunity and I believe he can be a weapon moving forward
What is Urschel doing
I really like Givens I think he can be an asset here with his speed and quickness
Man that blocked extra point earlier was huge
Even with the False start its clear theyre attacking Mosley with Gates...make an adjustment Pees
Why won't Pees let Hill cover Gates and not Mosely...Mosely is literally incapable
Wow I like that play call alot minus the snap
Every snap by Urschel is an adventure.
You'd think he'd be able to calculate the perfect snap angle or someting
Why would Trestman run to the left at this point
Flacco just hasn't had enough time with these WRs Ross and Givens to consistently know their speed yet
The worst part about this game is the Chargers are getting sacks with 4/5 of the Ravens starting offensive line in tact, but the ravens cant get anything with half the chargers line hurt
Woah 3 straight runs...Not sure whats happened less: 3 straight runs or defense forcing a turnover
Yeah the O has had its struggles but I actually think they've been pretty solid considering the unit. Its why I don't really get the Fire Trestman stuff.
I agree, I don't think Trestman should be fired at all. If the Ravens get a few playmakers at WR I think Trestman can help this offense. The Offense actually seems they can make progress with just a couple pieces although the revolving door at WR is very concerning
I just don't get how the Ravens don't have enough talent to get pressure on Rivers with the makeshift offensive line of the chargers right now
Is Pees ever going to make an adjustment to cover the flats?
Nice tackle there by Webb
If raven's cant get pressure on this offensive line that is straight embarrassing
Ravens need a LT
I actually don't think it was a bad challenge in terms of physical play, but just the timing after the penalty and potentially needing those time outs was interesting

I didn't mean to make that a slight on Harbs I like him as a coach a lot. I didn't know the OC/DC had as much say but still, then there's some disconnect between Harbs and the coordinators. Also I know it's different opponents but good players play against anyone, so I think it would be good to see if the young guys can dominate the player in front of them. I don't think starters in the NFL change very often depending on the opponent, but that could be wrong.
