  1. I agree...that last play was solid. Even though the WR slipped on third and 10 Walker backpelled no further than the sticks and quickly broke on the WR and looked to be in good position to make the tackle 2-3 yards short of the first if the WR caught the ball
  2. Really makes you appreciate Mosely and Smith in the middle in pass coverage
  3. The ravens may have just gotten really young and really good on offense
  4. How did Pees not make an adjustment there...after showing all out blitz you gotta at least be ready for a screen especially after being backed up 5 more yards
  5. I didnt think Asa's coverage on cooks on that deep throw was that bad. He did exactly what he was supposed to do by forcing the WR to the sideline and the only thing cooks could do to make the catch was round his route to stepping out of bounds. Its like in baseball when a hitter hits a 500 foot home run foul. Who cares what happened, all it ends up being is a strike.
  6. Really like Guy on the Dline as well. Really happy we resigned him I think he provides tremendous depth. Can anyone tell me how Davis has fared on the Dline so far?
  7. Haha best site I could find, please give a shout if you find a better option.
  8. Im in the Philly area as well, I am streaming the game on firstrowsports...its a tiny bit delayed and quality isnt the greatest but certainly getting the job done
  9. Very true, I don't think people realize how gigantic the receiving corps is now. If waller makes the team they'll have: Brown - 6'5 Waller - 6'6 Pitta (if he plays) - 6'4 Gillmore - 6'6 Williams - 6'4 Boyle 6'4 Perriman - 6'2 Aiken - 6'2 Thats a lot of big bodies and some guys in there have outstanding hands...I don't know how Trestman doesn't find red zone success with that many big targets
  10. Torrey was a great player for the Ravens. No he didn't develop into that #1 WR the Ravens have never had, but he was a great player for what the Ravens needed during his time here. However, the difference between Jimmy and Torrey is this: When Torrey is healthy and playing well, guys like Haden, or Revis, or Sherman can likely still shut Torrey down for the most part because his complete game just wasnt developed enough. When Jimmy is healthy, he locks down or at least minimizes guys like AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, or Jordie Nelson. When healthy, both are/were very good players for the Ravens, but I'd rather take my chances on a guy who locks down the best when healthy than a guy who still gets locked down by the best
  11. I think this is severely overlooked. Although we're a long way gone now from the Cam days, one of my biggest complaints was based on the WRs that were in the game it was sooo obvious whether it was going to be a running play or passing play. Having 3 tight ends who are capable blockers and who can catch is going to be so huge for this offense
  12. I had no idea where to put this so Ill say I expect Flacco to add to . . . being number 9 ALL TIME in total career postseason touchdown passes. And he's only 30. He's ahead of some pretty impressive guys on too like Big Ben and Rodgers. He's only two behind Elway and 5 behind Bradshaw. If the Ravens play like we all expect this year I can see Flacco getting as high as #7 after the year
  13. totally agree but I do think people are forgetting about Gilmore. He really showed some receiving promise and has 2 more inches on both Boyle and Williams. Either way, this TE corps has the chance to be one of the best in the league with such a terrific combination of blockers and, if potential leads to actual performance, receiving threats as well. I do believe if Pitta is healthy all 4 make the team
  14. I had no idea where to put this so thought just make a new topic, mods please feel free to move if necessary. Now I don't usually take websites like Bleachereport or others super seriously, but I saw a pretty interesting article on SBNation today ( http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2015/5/17/8616853/dime-packages-should-make-return). It essentially proposes that in primarily passing downs the Ravens use a dime package in a nickel set. Essentially Webb (or other big corner depending on outside match-ups), Jimmy, and Arrington (or webb in slot depending on match-ups), then placing Lewis and another safety (article proposes Miles but once Brooks comes back this could be particularly effective) and then placing Will Hill next to Mosely in a linebacker like position substituting for daryl smith. With Smith another year older and presumably losing another half step, I actually really like this plan. This sort of all goes out the window if Arthur Brown progresses assuming he can cover, but if not again this sounds like an interesting plan. Apparently Pagano utilized this a lot in 2011 and I think it would be a good move to make. With Hill;s ability to cover big tight ends having him and Mosely in the middle could be very effective. This could also give Pees some more blitzing options having two quick guys in the middle, or even have Hill drop and bring lewis or the other safety on a blitz to confuse the offense. In general though, now that we all have a decent idea of how the secondary, at least roster wise, is going to shape up barring injuries or another acquisition, I was just seeing what people would like to see from the secondary this here. Besides, it can't get much worse than last year (knocking on wood)
  15. I agree as I've mentioned before I think this kid has the competitiveness and drive to be different but we will see when they hit camp and preseason. The last thing I want, however, is for him to make a team and then only come in on running plays that will completely tip off the defense. If Waller isn't quite ready I really only want to see in the redzone unless Harbaugh and Trestman trust him enough to have him pass catch just as much as run block between the 20s. I remember a couple years ago they had problems with this, although that was also in Cam's offense so not sure if Trestman would do something like that
  16. This may be pretty unrealistic especially because of the drafting of Myers, but if it gets more on through the summer and an extension cannot be reached with either Yanda or Osemele it could be very interesting to monitor the situation of Ronald Leary. The Cowboys signed Collins and early word is its looking very likely he is going to take over the Cowboys LG spot. Leary is a pretty solid and young (26) LG who was the "weak" spot on the Cowboys line although that speaks more to the Cowboys line than Leary's actual play. It would be an embarrassment of riches this year but if Ozzie was positive that he could not keep both Yanda and Osemele a trade for Leary could be an interesting route. I would only like to see it if Ozzie pulled one of those deals where you basically ask the player up front whether they would sign an extension up front to gauge the situation as the Ravens don't need three guards with their contracts up after the season. Not saying the Ravens really need this but again if Ozzie isn't positive he can resign both Yanda and Osemele this could be an interesting route to add some future insurance to the guard position
  17. This is probably said a lot but Waller just feels different. Waller seems determined to seek out Perriman. It was pretty amazing to me how heavily featured Waller was, keep in mind 8 guys were drafted ahead of him, in the Ravens 3 wired rookie camp videos. I dont remember much about Harper or Streeter or other guys and their attitudes, but this guy just seems to have a relentless attitude and doesnt just want to succeed, but wants to be as good as and better than Perriman, which I love. He's also a very smart player and I'm thinking he's going to pick up as much as possible from Engram and steve smith every day he can
  18. 100% I dont think there's any excuse now though. I'd love to see us line up on the goaline with Allen in the backfield, Gilmore and Boyle on the line. Williams split out wide and Waller on the other side. Thats a great pass catching running back then 6'6, 6'6, 6'4, and 6'4...And all of those guys have great hands. I know this leaves out Perriman and Brown so obviously there would be variations of this but if Boyle and Waller make the team there should literally be no excuse for the Ravens not scoring TDs in the redzone...I mean I cant think of another team that would have that much pure size in receiving threats
  19. I think this is a huge signing just for pure depth purposes. These are all assumptions as everyone must make so getting past the fact these are assumptions: Having Will Hill back there from the beginning of the season and thinking that Kendrick Lewis will bring at least some level of improved play to the safety position gives me a lot of confidence. I know Webb wasn't playing super well on the outside even towards the end of the season but he has such a lack of talent around him. If Jimmy is healthy, the side of the field with Jimmy is borderline locked down. They can give Webb some outside help if he needs it especially because a guy like Arrington can play effectively in the slot. This essentially leaves one safety free in 3 WR sets and with Smith and Mosely (and im hoping something from Brown) we have some decent cover linebackers as well. As long as Arrington wasn't released for some crazy underlying injury or something I think this is a pretty big and underrated signing that completely rounds out the secondary. And if someone does get hurt and Melvin has to step in on the outside, I'm not confident but I do think he can play somewhat effectively in a few game stretch especially with the overall improvement of the entire secondary. If one guy goes down, having Arrington really does make the entire secondary better able to handle an injury at the CB position (god forbid it doesnt happen) because having that slot cornerback playing effectively is so big in todays game
  20. I think Agholor is right now a better route running and better hands (compared to Maclin a lot), but I think the Ravens like Perrimans more size speed combo, Agholor is 6 feet and Perriman is more 6'2 and a half, and I think the Ravens were very comfortable believing Perriman can run the full route tree and were not as concerned with his hands as others. I think if both were available they still would have gone Perriman because, although Agholor may be more ready immediately, Perriman's upside is really really attractive. I also think the Ravens wanted a taller guy to let Joe really throw those 1 on 1 jump balls, it seems Perriman is a guy who will go up and get it and fight for the ball
  21. I actually kinda like this idea, maybe John will take a page out of Jim's book from stanford. Gilmore, Boyle, Williams, Allen, and Perriman all in...Allen is a great receiver at the RB position and thats two big blockers and a whole lotta size and height for teams to cover around the goal line. What I really like about our TEs is even if Gilmore and Boyle may not stretch the field, all 3 have hands to catch. As we saw with Dickson it doesnt matter how well you can stretch the field if you can't catch, I'd much rather have savvy tight ends who can catch than fast ones who cant
  22. This is like the number one point I love and that a lot of people don't seem to point to. Sure Travis Taylor and Mark Clayton weren't great, but they also had guys like Kyle Boller, troy smith, and a worn down Steve McNair throwing to them. I think Engram and Hammock bring a lot in terms of coaching to this team and when you have a good quarterback guys just develop way faster. Of course it does still come down to the player and Perriman seems like a pretty motivated guy
  23. I have absolutely no high expectations for this guy, at least his rookie year, but I couldn't be happier with this pick in the 6th round. I agree people may recall memories of Streeter as the same potential size-speed guy who is very raw. I know highlight tapes arent the way to evaluate players, but if you watch his highlights when Georgia Tech played Mississippi State, there are definitely some things to like. I saw him toe-tapping the sideline, showing me he has some awareness. He sometimes just gets in the way of the man hes trying to block but also made some great sustained blocks as well. He seems to be very willing to highpoint to ball and corners simply bounce off him because of his size. Most importantly what I saw though, is the guy can catch. Obviously Georgia Tech is an option team but I saw a stat he had 26 catchable balls thrown to him, he caught all 26. He catches with his hands and seems pretty natural doing so. I like to look at how wide receivers catch balls when theyre wide open because that can sometimes be more telling of exactly how comfortable they are catching the ball. Again I dont have expectations right now, but if this kid really wants to work and can improve, he should realize there is a potential roster spot for him, would love to see him take advantage
  24. Also don't know much but just to support your point as well, in 2014 Housler played 480 snaps, hardly much for a receiving tight end because the cardinals had 3 stud WRs and even the other rookie Brown (not the pittsburg state kid) was pretty solid. To put this in perspective, Crockett Gilmore played 492 snaps. I think with Joe and much more playing time in a 2 tight end offense Housler could put up some legitimate numbers, much like Pitta in 2012
  25. Had to give this another positive quote, very good point. The Cardinals last year had a very good defense even with all their injuries and if they had a legitimate quarterback had a real shot at a super bowl. Their wide receivers, all of whom they drafted (Fitz, Floyd, Brown) are all very good. Steelers drafted Brown and Bryant looks to be a solid guy. Yes, maybe going out and buying wide receivers isnt the best way, but it cannot be downplayed how poorly the Ravens draft at wide receiver when looking at the total picture. I don't care as much about history but with Flacco the Ravens have drafted a WR before the 4th round once. I am obviously not hating on Ozzie because he is clearly a top 3 if not the best GM, but at some point they need to draft Flacco a legitimate target who can be more reliable than a guy like Torrey, even though Torrey was very good for the Ravens he wasnt that number 1
