  1. Let's go around the Coaching Carousel for Jan 6th:

    - Doug Marrone's interview with the Jets didn't go well as it seemss Marrone's head may be getting "big".

    - While Kyle Shanahan is interviewing for the Bills HC gig, there is a chance he ends up leaving Cleveland due to the "friction" between the coaches and FO. It is said that a high ranked FO guy texted from the booth to complain about Kyle's play calling.

    - Marvin Lewis may be staying in Cincy, but for the second straight year they may lose their OC. Hue Jackson is interviewing for the Bills Head Coaching job on Wednesday. The Bills are also interviewing Lions DC Teryl Austin on Saturday.

    - Marc Trestman is interviewing for the Jags Offensive Coordinator position after already interviewing for the Bucs OC opening.

I still don't get why Marrone left.

Same ole Browns, same ole Browns.

I wonder what kind of offense the Bengals will be having with Green, Sanu, a healthy Marvin Jones, Eifert, Gresham, Bernard, and Jeremy Hill.

No comment about Trestman because I just don't care lol.

  2. I'd politely disagree regarding WR, although I do think it's possible we fail to address it again in this draft. I disagree because even if we re-sign Smith, we have problems at the WR position. We lack a true WR who can become a consistent, rhythm-based weapon for Joe Flacco. Too often we find the WR drop the ball or unable to separate from man coverage. This is a problem and probably the biggest one our offense has. Joe is a rhythm QB and he needs the rhythm to get going. It's hard to get him going if he is cold. That's what leads to our losses, I've seen.

Smith Sr is nearing retirement inevitably, and Smith is inconsistent. Torrey is a bit more of a big play threat, though he's a free agent and as I said, he's inconsistent. It takes a couple years for a WR to truly come into form, so to say it wouldn't be prudent to take a WR now is mistaken. I think it wise to draft a WR, though to sign one seems unnecessary, IMO, outside of Torrey Smith.

I know people will point to Marlon, Aiken or Campanaro, but I do not trust any of them to become a legitimate #1 WR. I've always thought Marlon could become a #2 but he doesn't play like a #1 and doesn't take full advantage of his size at times. He's also had a propensity to be hurt, similar to Campanaro, who has dealt with injuries since college. That's two of our three WRs I mentioned for future development with a propensity for injury, and then you have a journeyman WR who has never stuck on a team until now. Granted, he's looked good but to rely on him to take the next step and become a #1 WR seems misguided.

We need to draft a WR for the future, but I don't necessarily think it's guaranteed.

Preach! I've been saying this for years! We don't even have to go outside of the division to realize this. You got Antonio Brown in PIT and A.J. Green in CIN. Since we're playing the Pats and though he isn't a WR per se, they got Gronk. Other examples include: Megatron in DET, Julio Jones in ATL, Demaryius Thomas in DEN, Dez in DAL, etc, etc.

  3. He should be but he probably won't knowing how loyal Mike Brown is.

I love how PFT wrote an article titled "Marvin Lewis continues to be the right man for the Bengals", and then defends Lewis by saying how horrible the Bengals were prior to his arrival and that's why he should keep his job.

Well he is. He fits their culture of mediocrity perfectly!

  4. Yep if I'm an NFL team, I wouldn't be picking him as the face or leadership of my franchise. He has beaten up on the ACC. Most SEC and PAC12 teams would have hammered them in that game.

He showed me that he cannot hang with Elite college level competition. How is he going to fare against top NFL talent on a weekly basis? Someone is taking him in the first round.

His substandard ability to handle adversity on the field, and inability to conduct himself with maturity after a single loss.....3rd or 4th round. Hype will put him in the Top 5 of the first round and some team will get their bust.

Good points. FSU wouldn't be undefeated in a different conference. I was never high on Notre Dame to begin with. In addition, I don't know if it's me, but almost every time I watch Clemson in a big game, they stink up the joint.

How someone could be that cocky after a loss is beyond me. Doesn't matter how a game coulda, shoulda, woulda went. This isn't a video game. There isn't any restart button. He lost....get over it. Heaven forbid if there's any more off the field incidents involving Winston....

  5. Agreed TCU showed they belonged as well. But yeah Ohio State wouldn't be playing last year and the fact that they now can is huge.

I never understood the committee's logic. First, they ranked TCU at #3? Whatever. Unlike FSU, TCU demolishes their opponent in hopes of staying in the playoff bracket. All of a sudden, they're no longer in the top 4? Huh?

  6. Blazers peaking!!! Ravens in playoffs.  My son and I were at the Browns game.. Man I have it Good

Portland is exciting to watch and they play fast paced team ball.  Their three point work this last weekend was monumental.  Lillard and Mathews my favorite duo  Go Blazers   Dom McRaven knows his Teams

    Amen! You know it!

  7. Some news out of Chicago & New York before tomorrow's regular season finale. A full house cleaning is expected in Chicago, and not just Trestman and GM Phil Emery. There are reports that Team President Ted Phillips, whose been in that position for 16 years may be canned as a way to blow up the Bears and start over.

As for the Jets, even a day before the final game Rex Ryan has already cleaned out his office in preparation for black monday. It is also said Charlie Casserly, who the Jets hired as a consultant is talking to candidates for not just Head Coach, but General Manager of the Jets as well.

Both are very interesting. Looks like the #fireidzik movement might work after all.

  8. Respect to harden.. He's still playing well enough on the defensive end and is playing MVP levels everywhere else

Obviously no ZBo completely changes memphis' whole offensive philosophy so didn't really bother me that they lost..

ZBo would've eaten Josh smith's lunch instead of him acting like Josh smith from 5 years ago like he did

Houston's deep though but same as Portland... Just gotta hope they don't get crazy hot from 3

Harden got a key block on Allens layup in crunch time. He's stepped up with great defense in the clutch countless times this year. Legit MVP candidate this year.

Funny that you say so. I think ZBo would've had a tough time guarding Josh Smith the way he drove the ball yesterday. Played well for his first game, and stepped up when Howard had a stinker. ZBo might've bullied Smith on offense though.

But the Rockets are far from full strength themselves. Howard is still getting his legs back after being out for a long time. Brewer, Shved and Smith are all brand new to the team. And Jones who played great as a starter at the beginning of this season has been out for a long time. Didn't stop them from grinding it out though. Not yesterday and not the last time these teams met.

I don't think Portland is deep....yet. Robin Lopez will still be out for weeks. LaMarcus Aldridge and Batum have been in and out of the lineup because of illness and wrist injuries respectively. I think Stotts is trying to pull a Popovich and rest starters even though they have injuries. I'm all for it. I want these bench guys to get as much as playing time as possible so they should be ready for playoff time.

  9. Reports this morning are saying the Grizz really wants Josh Smith, but I'm sure he will go to Houston. Not a big fan of him, he's been a blackhole on offense his entire career basically. But I will be rooting for him of course. Could be a great pickup if he plays within his role, focusing on defense, transition buckets and hustle plays.

I'd assume he would come off the bench?

  10. So now here's the latest.... next Monday, the dreaded Black Monday is when the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh will part ways. Now it doesn't say if there will be a trade, he'll accept the offer from Michigan or not. Though it at least seems Jim may have a choice of where he wants to go if they outright fire him.

Hmm... I'd still like to see what he could do in Oakland though.....

  11. Take it and run. No apologies. It's a long season, and yours will most certainly come at some point during it.

I'm wondering how long the Spurs can hang. That's like 5 losses in a couple weeks, with the last two being brutal. They'll be fine I'm sure, but Pop's style of leaning on hot starts to keep his guys fresh for the playoffs might not be in the cards this year. They'll be in a battle to the end for seeding. They might not have too much in the tank for a few long, physical series.

I hear ya. The Spurs just need to get healthy. Patty Mills was huge for them coming off the bench (I would know). The way I see it, they could easily go on some winning streak at some point after the All-Star break.
