  1. When I saw him go down and look in terrible pain I was screaming at my screen for him to (self-censored) Ice up! But knew it was bad when he walked off without showing his face. At least he got to the 10th spot, but hope he reconsiders the retirement. This would be a bad way to finish a career like that. They can go have a beer with Sizzle and plan out their comeback.

  2. Besides Ed Reed lol, a feisty and discipline demanding Head coach from a college team that knows defense. But I think theres a good chance Ed will be a coach soon, just hope its with us.

Also Ray Lewis should be a coach. His job at ESPN, although it is big bucks, is not a good fit for him. And its becoming more and more clear every time I see him on TV

I would take Ed Reed as a coach any day. He's a leader by example, is dedicated to improving on the field and in the film room and also a very good speaker, where he expresses well, not only in emotion, but also in clarity.

Neg me all you like, but I don't think Ray Lewis would make a good coach. He's also a great player and a leader by example and a great motivational speaker, but all of that is through emotion. Most of his speeches make me feel "I have no idea what the dude said, but I feel all charged up! Let's go do whatever it was he said! Yay!" Would he be able to explain to individual players where they can improve, what's a way to up your technique etc beyond "You gotta hustle! You gotta want it!"?

  3. I just don't get where all this trade talk is coming from? If you want to give SSS one more chance to play in a super bowl start winning games for Pete's sake! For anyone who chooses to play lights out, if we can get the whole team to do just that, we are not done yet! Haven't there been teams in the AFC South that had a chance at play-offs with .500 record? That will never happen up north, but if we can get above .500 there is always a chance. Teams got to play in January with 9-7 records before. So Ravens suck a little right now. Too bad. But they haven't lost hope yet and don't sound defeated so it's disloyal of fans to do so until January football becomes mathematically impossible. Great to hear that Steve is loyal. It's sad he might go into retirement without a bang and a flash, but I really appreciate his spirit and attitude towards the Ravens. No way he'll go back to Carolina, they're doing okay without him and from a certain moment, he wasn't a good fit. Well, he is here. If the Ravens had a spirit animal, it would be Steve Smith.

Now, I am in no way in denial over the state of our secondary or that the offense hasn't been as flashy as we would like it to be - too many throws that are off and drops by our WRs. However, here's to hoping to the good things helping to the rise of the phoenix from the ashes. This season. Not sometime indefinite in the future, near or far.

  4. Ray Lewis is a great player a great motivator and full of BS when it comes to analyzing post-Ray Ravens. We do have cornerstones to build around. Players that Sarah named are it. We are just missing the passionate leader you want to win for.

Let me be bold, but if we have a chance to turn the season around, it's now. I don't know how it's possible, but Ravens since I know them are great at surprise losses to teams at the bottom of the table and then even bigger surprise wins where nobody expects them to - i.e. away, great offense, time difference, with multiple injuries in key positions.

The advert with Joe made me laugh :D No worried we're not winning, his timing is off :D :D

  5. Glad to see Webb back in practice. After seeing Shareece Wright start last week Webby back is great news! I won't damn Wright straight away, I don't know him and maybe he was really victim to being picked apart by a team that knows him, but my trust in him is lacking. Hope Williams is back up soon - our TEs have been the bright spot of the team. All of them.

  6. Go ahead and retire Pitta! Don't be crazy! I live in a neighborhood where several Ravens lived. I remember the great Mike McCrary walking with 2 canes. I remember speaking with my boy Orlando "Zeus" Brown (God rest his soul!), and he always said that he retired before any major injuries (apart from the eye), even though he said that the team called him to help protect a young Flacco... he refused. Pitta already has a SB ring, and nothing to prove. As a fan and a human, I hate to see these guys go down week after week with torn ACLs and other major injuries. Pitta's next one may be the one. So he shouldn't risk it.

You're absolutely right! As much as I would love to see Pitta back on the field and as much as it would be a boost for the Ravens, on a human level, I just can't get myself to believe that he won't reinjure the hip. The problem with dislocated hip is, after the first time, there is a part of the bone that broke-off to allow dislocation permanently missing, allowing for easier dislocation the 2nd, 3rd, Xth time. He's already proved that he can rehab to get in form to get back, but that reinjury is a high risk. And every time it gets worse. Whoever's had a hip injury should know it's one of the most painful things ever and tends to hurt for ages. Pitta, if you injure it one more time, I guarantee that you'll cuss out everytime there's bad weather outside, because your hip'll be singing songs of pain to you.

  7. I still feel skeptical about whether Pitta will be able to play full contact football. However, if he does feel confident to do so and doctors clear him, would he be able to line-up as a wideout? He has done in the past. This could help us utilize him without taking snaps away from our young TE corps which has been performing well. It's a shame when you have four good TEs but only one really good WR.

  8. I'd like to hear what his answer would be if he was asked straight up if he thinks the Ravens are still going to make the playoffs. Publicly I'm sure he would say yes.

I think privately also. One thing I respect about the Ravens, both players and coaches, is that they fight. If you look at pressers with other teams below .500 they often sound defeated and depressed and halfway gone. That's the beginning of the end. It might be subjective, but I have not detected anything such in Harbs or most players interviewed. They are still fighting. It's still remotely possible, though unlikely, but they're holding onto that chance.

  9. I know, I honestly watched that game expecting us to lose. I didn't feel not one bit angry, because  I know that this team has no leadership right now.

I was hoping, but wasn't all that confident. Despite the drops, SSS looked good. There were a couple bright points that I liked, like the OL holding quite solid for Joe. No TE shone, but Joe was able to distribute the ball between all three, so that's a good thing on it's own I think.

Funnily enough it's more likely that Ravens will finally win once they play a really good team than it is likely that they will beat a bad one.

You're right about the leadership. I had my tips on who the guys would be to step up, but they didn't pan out. Shame about Webby, he's the only one making a visible effort to do so, but it's tough when you're not on the field.

  10. Marshall Yanda is the best thing since sliced bread! No, really, I adore him as a player. Glad to see the majority of OL in positive PFF points, it was visible on the field Sunday as one of the brighter lights in a dark alley.

You could see that SSS wasn't 100%. That's not bashing, but fact. My guess is that if he weren't hurting he might be able to haul in at least one of the end zone drops. Just wish other WRs would put themselves in the position to do so also.

I can't hold the missed FG against Tucker, I'm glad he's not injured after the sinkhole ate his leg! My guess is that Jernigan was pushed down the depth chart as a lesson regarding penalties that could be prevented and now coaches think lesson learnt. I hope they are right.

Joe Flacco IS a funny guy. Not in a forceful way, rather the quiet type, but he's rather entertaining when he is relaxed.

  11. Time to trade Steve Smith Sr to a contender of his choosing. No reason his last year should be this crappy when he is one of the few trying to win games for us

I can't see that happening. He is of value to us and makes Ravens look less tragic. But anybody who's buying will see an aging receiver with fractures in his back, unreliable game status and two drops in the end zone last night. The value we would get for him is less than what he can do for us here. Plus, don't take away my biggest fan favorite on offense!

  12. Don't get me started on people jogging into the huddle and into position in the last 2 minutes! What's disappointing is not so much the losses, but that all were self-inflicted. Being that close - all of them - Ravens could have won each if they had less penalties and less drops. Usually Harbs is clutch with challenges, but yesterday had me confused. Does Shareece Wright's struggles and Forsett in the game mean Charles James comes right back up after cut? The secondary is sad. Overall performance is bad and Ravens should feel bad.

  13. A big test this week for our front 7 with 49ers mobile qb I believe if we stop kap from scrambling we win this game flacco should have a nice against a 49ers secondary that's pretty bad. Go Ravens!!!!!

He did alright with Michael Vick, who is still really fast and managed to tackle LeVeon Bell in open space, so I have faith that he's well adapted to mobile QBs. It's the quick release, big arm, pinpoint QBs I'd be more worried about at this point.

  14. Za'Darius is a bit raw, but a draft gem and a player that will develop and improve over time. His upside apart from speed and good hands is that he doesn't give up or play half-assed. Where he's lacking are things he will improve over time with experience, training and film study. He'll be a good replacement for Pernell McPhee, but it'll take him a little while before he fully grows into the role. It's unlikely that Courtney Upshaw will develop into a pass rusher. He's a decent player, but he's good exactly in the role that he played last year and he's not good at filling pass rusher shoes. He'll get the occasional sack, but that's it.
